Plot kept me off my feet and at the edge of my seat the whole time. The ensemble cast was interesting to follow. The reveal caught me off guard. Overall I enjoyed this.

Tessa’s life as a true crime podcaster has exploded and when she is invited to a Bachelorette Party on a private island, she jumps at the chance to try to revitalize her career by finding a break in the case of a decades old mystery about four girls who disappeared there.
I read through this book rather quickly and the pacing was good, jumping between the past and present, however I really didn’t connect with any of the characters which left me wanting more. The ending was dramatic and over the top however the overall story had me engaged which is where the 3 stars comes from.
Publishing June 10, 2025, thank you NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was just alright, I enjoy this author's other two books, and I think this was just very generic for them. I think the setting did it a disservice, to the point that it just felt very predictable in ending and in pacing. All in all it was fine, but nothing memorable.

This is why I can't have girl friends. Loved the name Matilda in this book. Loved the story. Can't wait to read more.

This book has some real "horror movie" energy. Remember the geico commercial awhile back where there were kids running away from a murderer and they hid behind a wall of chainsaws instead of driving away? This book is like that. It reminds me of the Scream/I know what you did last summer time frame of cinema. The characters are beautiful, mostly female, some of them are basically interchangeable. The only reason why there are 4 women in the first set of murders and 5 in the second set is to heighten the body count and make it bloodier. It is a big riot and obviously, as they say, a "page-turner." I read it in one sitting.
Dual time frames- 2012 when a group of 4 friends goes on their annual girls trip to a remote island with no coverage. 2022 when a bachelorette party goes to the same island, which now has a mindfulness resort on it as the first guests. The most interesting character is our main character in 2022, Tessa. She recently was a true crime podcaster but had some sort of problem a "mistake" that ended her career, which we find out later in the story. She is single and bisexual, there is an interesting conversation with one of the bridesmaids who is demonstrating what biphobia sounds like, in her ignorance. Most of the tertiary characters are generally pretty one dimensional, as there isn't time to develop them.
Although this takes place in Sweden, and all of the first names and surnames are quite Swedish, it comes across as pretty American. I enjoyed the story and didn't guess the ending. If you read a lot and enjoy a good slasher film, you should pick this one up!
Thanks to NetGalley and St Martin's Press for the ARC. Book to be published June 10, 2025. Just in time for wedding season.

This is my third novel from this author and every single one has been amazing. I love her writing, I love the gore level and I love the twists. This one has less scares and less gore and is more thriller than horror. But that’s okay, it was so well done! Such a good premise and twists!

Some friends go to an island for a bachelorette weekend of hiking, yoga, and vegan food. What could possibly go wrong?
12 years ago a group of friends all vanished. And now, another group has come to the island to enjoy themselves. Past and present timelines. Forced yoga. Something sinister is going on.
I enjoyed the book but it felt a bit long. I wanted more from the ending. And the disgraced podcaster.

Ok. I really liked this. The time jumps were really getting to me at the beginning but they ended up working for the story. The story in itself was pretty interesting. My mind tried to over complicate the plot (which was fun for me but absolutely not what was going on). I don’t know if I would compare this to Scream. But that’s just me. I do think this is a pretty good thriller/horror.
Thanks to NetGalley and Minotaur for the copy of this ARC! This will be out in June of 2025.

A group of women travels for a bachelorette party to a remote island that was the backdrop for a 10-year old mysterious disappearance of a similar group of women. What could possibly go wrong?
This book was immensely predictable but still very entertaining. The serene, beautiful setting contrasted well with the murders that you knew were coming eventually. I usually prefer thrillers that jump right into the action, but this author took time to build the characters and their relationships. By the time the violence began, I genuinely liked most of the characters and was invested in whether they lived or died - including the killer!
On a side note, the author presented a side of the “true crime” world that I’m willing to guess most of us hadn’t thought about prior to this book. It really makes the reader think about the humanity of murder victims and their families, who are truly not here for our entertainment.

This was a great thriller that kept me on my toes. It was engaging and each chapter left me wanting more information about Matilda's and Tessa's stories. I enjoyed the multiple narrators and differing time points and felt like they really added to the narrative. The last 25% was so thrilling and I saw none of the twists coming. The ending was satisfying and not at all what I thought it would be. I'm looking forward to re-reading this when it comes out and see if I can pick up on more clues!

This seemed exactly like so many books I've already read. There were too many characters that I think were supposed to help keep you on your toes, but just felt annoying and confusing. The plot just jumped from place to place. Add in the multiple time lines on top of it and it just was not worth the read.

The description of this book drew me in, but unfortunately the story fell flat. Four friends escape to a privately owned island each year for one night -- and no one knows that is where they go. In 2012, the girls never came home and no one ever found them. The police and everyone else wrote it off as them getting drunk and getting on a boat. Ten years later, Tessa, a shamed true crime podcaster, is invited to Isle Blind for her best friend's bachelorette party.
While this wasn't badly written, so much of this just didn't work for me. None of the friends were likeable in any way, they were all horrible to Tessa, and it was unclear how they ever had a friendship. At the same time, the mystery of why Tessa lost her job, all her friends, her girlfriend, and her whole life is alluded to over and over and over, but we don't find out what exactly happened until more than halfway through. And I still don't get why she would lose every friend she had over it?
I found myself skimming to just get to the point where something actually happens, because for most of the book it is just the girls being mean to Tessa, doing yoga, eating delicious sounding vegan food, and ... that is it. That is all that happens until the end when it all comes crashing down.
I liked getting to what was really going on, but it just took too long to get there and I lost interest by then.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

pretty cool but there are a lot of chars who are hard to keep track of because they don't behave very differently. 3.5 stars. tysm for the arc.

Group of people where one of more end up murdered on an isolated island? Sold!
Tessa, a true crime podcast host, and her sister Lena are invited to a bachelorette party on an isolated island. Tessa is reluctant to go, however, the history of the island is what pushes her to go. Ten years ago, a group of friends disappeared from the same island and have been known as the Nacka Four ever since. Tessa sees this opportunity to investigate and try to solve the murders. The more Tessa digs into the case, the more she realizes her and her friends are in danger.
I've been excited about this book and it did not disappoint! The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat and was hard to put down.

I've enjoyed all of of Camilla Sten's books, and The Lost Village is one of my favorite books. I loved how it blended thriller with horror, which is something I've come to expect with her books. The Bachelorette Party is purely thriller/suspense, though. I did enjoy it, but not as much as her other two books. I found this one to be a slow start with little to keep me interested until about halfway through. I expected something in the style of And Then There Were None, with the women getting picked off one by one. That wasn't the case.
I liked the blend of past and present, though I'm not sure it was needed? I also wish we'd gotten more of Carl's thought process and why he killed his fiancee AND BABY? That I can't wrap my mind around. It's like halfway through we forgot Matilda was pregnant. Carl wanted to keep his secret so bad, he didn't even think about his kid? And Irene went on this quest for vengeance without even thinking about her niece/nephew who was also killed? (I think she knew but it took me a while to get through the first half, so maybe she didn't.) Also we didn't get to see or really acknowledge the fact that Irene killed Carl (I assume). Adam was thrown is as only a red herring, which I don't think anyone was believing, anyway.
I enjoyed the twist of Carl being the killed. I didn't see that coming, but I wish it was executed differently. I am a mom myself, so when it comes to harm for babies or children, I have a hard time relating to the story anymore or emotionally connecting to it. I did like Tessa as a character and her messy backstory--that was pretty rough--but I think a lot of the elements in this book were disjointed for me. I'll look forward to the next book Camilla Sten puts out, but unfortunately this one is my least favorite so far.

The remote and isolated setting gave the story a creepy vibe and an intense feeling of unease from the outset.
Tessa and her sister Lena are invited to a bachelorette party on a remote island to celebrate their friend Annalise's upcoming wedding. Due to some ongoing life issues, Tessa is reluctant to attend. But the thought of reuniting with old high school friends as well as her obsession with true crime drives her curiosity about the island’s dark past making the event inviting and intriguing. You see, ten years ago a group of girls went missing in at this very location and have never been found. Would you go?
The island is accessible only by boat and when the boat leaves the only tie to civilization is a dinghy tied up on the shore. Cell phones and all other devices are confiscated by hotel owner Irene for the duration. After all the girls are here to enjoy each other without distraction. She assures them they are not completely cut off from the world , should help be needed, as there is a landline on the first floor.
Irene, built the island’s new hotel and is oddly enough the sister of one of the missing girls. Tessa, interest in true crime stems from her former role as a true crime podcaster. To Tessa this is the perfect opportunity to investigate and maybe even solve the ten year old mystery. As she digs deeper, the island's secrets start to unravel, and Tessa soon realizes that she and her friends have entered into a world of grave danger with absolutely no resources to protect themselves.
Author, Camilla Sten kept me guessing as to who was the evil one/s were by weaving together a twisted plot with unexpected turns. The twist will keep readers on the edge and one may find it difficult to put the book down.
I really like Tessa and pulled for her the entire time. She’s smart, clever and observant as she begins to put together the pieces of the mystery.
I highly recommend this spine-chilling must-read for fans of suspenseful story thrillers.

Wow. This story hooked me from the very beginning. I couldn’t believe what I was reading. What an exciting way to start a novel.
Tessa and her sister Lena are invited to a bachelorette party on a remote island to celebrate their friend Annalise's upcoming wedding. Although Tessa is hesitant to attend —struggling with her mental health and the thought of reuniting with old high school friends—her obsession with true crime drives her curiosity about the island’s dark past.
Ten years ago, a group of women vanished without a trace on this very island. Upon arrival, Tessa discovers the island’s new hotel is owned by the sister of one of the missing girls. Tessa, a former true crime podcaster, sees this as an opportunity to investigate and perhaps solve the mystery. As she digs deeper, the island's secrets start to unravel, and Tessa soon realizes that she and her friends are in grave danger.
The novel keeps you guessing with its intricate plot and unexpected twists. Each twist kept me on the edge of my seat, and I had a hard time putting the book down because I wanted to find out what would happen next.
I was rooting for Tessa the entire time. She is a smart, observant character who started to put together pieces of the mystery. Over the course of the novel she grew confident in herself and didn’t question her abilities as much. This was an excellent novel. I highly recommend it.

If you like suspenseful thrillers, this book is for you. The book toggles back and forth from 2012 and 2022. A group of four friends are murdered on a sucluded island in 2012. Fast forward to 2022 where a group of girl friends are on the same island celebrating the soon to be bride. What starts off as a fun and relaxing celebration turns into a nightmare. The book kept me on my toes. As things got closer to the climax I was able to figure out the 2022 killer. Thank you to NetGalley for advanced copy for my honest opinion.

I appreciate the advance but i did not care for this book. Duel timelines, gruesome deaths and unlikeable charecters.

The Bachelorette Party is a chilling, edge-of-your-seat thriller that blends true crime obsession with a gripping locked-room mystery. Camilla Sten crafts an eerie atmosphere, weaving past and present into a tale of long-buried secrets, paranoia, and revenge. The isolated island setting adds an extra layer of tension, making every shadow and whisper feel sinister. With well-drawn characters, a perfectly paced plot, and jaw-dropping twists, this book is impossible to put down.
