Lipscombe has written a manual for self-proclaimed dreamers and doers alike, as well as the would-be doers who only sometimes dream because life is busy. He tells the story of his own "doing" evolution, while guiding readers through the steps that he took to meet with success. It isn't a book about accomplishing all the things or being the best of the best. It isn't even a book about going viral and having millions of fans. It's a book about small steps making a big impact on the things you hope to do today, tomorrow, or "one day". The most important part of the book are the tools strewn throughout. They offer a variety of methods for getting where you want to be. It reads like a leadership book without the feeling that Lipscombe is talking to a management class, the likes of which few will know. He speaks to all readers, at all levels in their career, entrepreneurial journeys, and every skill level of one's chosen craft.

Improv circles will know the "yes and" principle and while Lipscombe doesn't offer it as a skill, the entire book reads like a mindset shift to a yes and way of being, so that your life reflects doing as a symptom of becoming a "doing" person. It addresses habits, mindsets, network and circles of influence, as well as the ways you start to behave when you see yourself as capable of great things.

One of my particular favourite parts of the book were his anecdotes about what his coach would tell the team, and the rigorous training they went through to prepare for events which led to him winning his first NCAA title. It's a testament to the fact that great things not only take some time to build, but that if you condition your mind for success it is, in a sense, inevitable, if that's what you're hoping for. It's a great book for those looking to be the architects of their lives in a meaningful way that doesn't just check off a bunch of boxes on a to-do list but helps you become someone who believes in their success. Very readable, and an unputdownable leadership book. I read the entire thing this morning while having my coffee. Highly recommend!
