I haven't read the first book yet, but honestly, I felt like it wasn't necessary to understand this one's plot or storyline. I enjoyed the enemies-to-lovers trope, but this book does end on a cliffhanger. Now I'm patiently waiting for the third book.
Thank you, Netgellay, and Entangled Publishing for the Ebook in exchange for my honest review.

Sharina Harris’s Sign of the Slayer was one of those books that piqued my interest months before it came out. Unconsciously, I kept thinking about it and knew it had to be special. And to me, it totally was. It’s a diverse book where the lead characters are both people of color. Sharina has taken vampire slayer versus vampire lore and made it fit into modern day, where teenagers/young adults drive the story and become the heroes.
When Sign of the Slayer ends, you know that it is anything but the end. I had no idea where Sharina was going to take Raven aka Texas and Khamari but I knew that while these two were on opposite sides they still had so much left between them. I also knew that there were still a lot of unanswered questions. Soul of the Stone picks up about four to six weeks after the end of Sign of the Slayer. Both groups have had the opportunity to regroup and plan their next moves. But everything isn’t as black and white as one would think.
Khamari is now the vampire king of his clan, but his heart belongs to Raven and his older brother Khaven, who’s dying. Texas fully intends to destroy every vampire and rid the world of them. Well, reluctantly all except for her vampire allies who have always worked with the different slayer factions around the world.
Texas is the Maximus, meaning the Philosopher’s Stone chose her, thus making her the most powerful of all the slayers. She has extraordinary powers that she loves. She just didn’t realize that the stone that is now part of her contained a hundred other souls that unexpectedly speak to her. Saving the world falls on her shoulders. She’s going to have to put aside all the lies she’s been told and the betrayal she feels to trust those closest to her to defeat the father of all vampires.
Soul of the Stone was more of Texas's journey. At 18/19, Sign of the Slayer changed her life and took her away from what she knew and the normalcy a teenager has and expects. Soul of the Stone puts her on a path of true self discovery and forgiveness.
While I thought Sign of the Slayer was intense, with its fight scenes and shocking discoveries, I didn’t think Soul of the Stone rose to that level. There are still fight scenes and discoveries to be made, but the vibe just seemed different. Soul of the Stone is told in dual POVs, with the final one leaving you shocked, scratching your head, and wondering what’s going to happen next. Because seriously. What. The. HECK?! I need the next book now!

Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Vampire Diaries fans gather around. I’m here to tell you why you should want to grab this second book in this author’s American Slayer Society series ASAP.
Sharina Harris was a new-to-me author with the first book in this series. But as a #BuffyAndAngelForever OG fan and later a big Vampire Diaries fan, the blurb and the cover were a massive draw for me. And when I found that the heroine was a marching band geek (I was once one, then my oldest child made me a marching band mom), I couldn’t have been happier. Raven/Texas and Khamari brought definite Buffy/Angel and Elena/Stefan vibes as seemingly star-crossed lovers. However, I’m hoping for a much more satisfying ending for them, and here’s hoping Alexander ends up with the same fate as The Master. Since the book ends in a cliffhanger, these remain to be seen.
As far as how interesting the plot is, the book grabs you by the collar and yanks you in from the outset. It’s spooky and creepy in the best possible way. I enjoyed the author’s writing style and felt the story was well-written. With so many possibilities for how the next book might play out, I’m honestly excited about it. And I’ll be checking out Ms. Harris’ backlist in the meantime.

Vampire and gods!!! If you love paranormal this is such a cool world. Book one def had more of the vampire and slayer dynamic where book two introduces more magical/paranormal elements that made me miss the vamp/slayer focus but also makes me excited to see where book three will go.

I was waiting anxiosuly for this book and I loved it!!!! Sharina knows how to tell an amazing story with romance, and drama and its great at painting a picture in your head with her words. If there are ever gonna be more books in this series I will be so happy. I didnt want to put it down. Still not a fan of Khamari's POV but I do understand it's important to the story. I wil always root for him and Texas though!!

I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.

Soul of the Stone was absolutely amazing. It was packed with adventure, action, some suspense and a whole lot more. It was epic. I loved it. I loved this portion of Raven's journey. I loved seeing her grow and coming into her own. I also loved watching the changes that Khamari underwent. This joy was an absolute joy to read. I couldn't devour it fast enough. Man, oh man I can't wait to read the conclusion.

Once again, the magic system is a shining part of this story. The new additions we get through Ravens' promotion were interesting and added even more to her inner battle to keep control. I enjoyed the training montages we got with Anton.
I love rose, the way she's written means she bounces perfectly off our main character. Their back and forth gives moments of lightness in between the darker plot points. Khaven brings in a softer side for khamari and opens the door for the romance to slip back in. It definitely takes a back seat in this one, though.
I really liked the first 60% of the book. I was, unfortunately, a little lost when the gods entered the plot during a little trip. It took me out of the vampire/slayer dynamic i was loving, especially when it occurs in a moment where their plan has gone wrong.
I'm not sure how many books are planned for the series, definitely at least one more given the cliffhanger in this one. I'm hoping it will go back to the dynamic of book 1, I feel like there's a good opportunity for a big emotional impact in the next one, too.
I received an advance review copy of this book, and this review represents my honest opinion. Thank you to netgalley, the author, and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

This book didn´t convince me fully. I really like assassins and after book 1 I also wanted to read book 2 to see how the characters are developing. I liked the concept of the story, but got a bit bored at some points. I also didn´t like some characters, but that was alright. All in all a solid book, but I wouldn´t recommend it often.

I am absolutely captivated! This book is a stunning blend of magic, mystery, and deep emotional resonance that kept me glued to the pages from start to finish.
Harris has crafted a world that feels both enchanting and real, filled with rich characters and intricate plots. I was particularly drawn to the protagonist’s journey—her struggles, triumphs, and the way she navigates the complexities of her relationships. It’s a beautiful exploration of identity and belonging that really struck a chord with me.
The writing is absolutely lyrical, with vivid descriptions that transport you right into the heart of the story. I found myself completely immersed in the magical elements, and the way Harris weaves them into everyday life is nothing short of brilliant. Each twist and turn kept me on my toes, and I loved how the suspense built throughout the narrative.
If you’re looking for a book that combines heart, magic, and a touch of adventure, "Soul of the Stone" is a must-read! It’s the kind of story that lingers with you long after you’ve turned the last page.

Fast paced story. I enjoyed it from start to finish. This was my first read by this author and will definitely be on the look out for more.

I enjoyed the story but I don't think it flowed as well as book one. It got a bit confusing at times as well

I was so into this story I love me so Texas she just means business and I love that! Couldn’t put it down the best bad ass slayer! I’m giving 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ a must read 💗

Thank you Netgalley for this sequal book arc!!
I will never not love a Vampire slayer and Vampire Prince story.
I love how sassy the writing is and I am a simp for enemies to lovers relationships. The diversity and world building once again went deeper and was carefully thought out. I think I liked book 2 better because of the amazing cultural explorations.
I'm excited for what comes next.

Raven's character in "Soul of the Stone" is deeply complex, burdened by anger and resentment that threaten her well-being and relationships. Her internal struggle is sharply depicted as she battles the voices in her head and the darkness within. Watching Raven's anger poison her connections is both compelling and difficult.
The narrative follows Raven and Khamari on a perilous journey through the Underworld, where they face numerous trials that test their bond and fortify them for the battle against Alexander. This second installment challenges readers' beliefs and emotions, especially those who, like Raven, grapple with holding onto hate. It is a profound exploration of letting go to achieve personal growth and healing.

Fast paced and well developed. I loved the storyline and the continuation form book one. I enjoyed the characters development and maturity more in this one. I also loved the vampire x vampire hunter forbidden vibes.

I loved the first book because of its action packed nature; I really felt the Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Fullmetal Alchemist intersection. The Soul of the Stone has a lot of exposition without the action that made me fall in love with the series. While I still enjoyed the book, I wish there was some balance between the two. However, I appreciated how Harris extended the lore of the Stone and set us up for what I know will be a phenomenal third book.

I love the writing style of Sharina. I think I always have trouble with the slang and "current" phrases that are used. They always tend to make me roll my eyes but other than that I think the characters are very nostalgic to me do to her references for them. I will say that I enjoyed this book more than book 1. There was more character development and more action to carry the story.

Soul of the Stone is the sequel of Sign of the Slayer by Sharina Harris. After everything happening in the first part I was really looking forward to reading this second part as well. How will Texas cope with being the Maximus? What adventures are waiting for the slayers?
This book has a double POV which makes you get to read both Texas' story as well as Khamari's. Khamari is now king and Texas is now the maximus. They are enemies, but what if faith keeps bringing them together? In this book Sharina Harris takes the readers on a trip to the ancient Egypth.
This book features a forbidden love as well as a little love triangle. Are you Team Anton or team Khamari? Both sides really seem to work out for Texas, but will she follow the rules or her heart? Will the Egypthian adventure change anything to this romantic outcome? Or will the voices of the stone get to much for Texas to love?
Sharina Harris really wrote an amazing story. I really loved the vampire vs slayer storyline, but also the enemies against the gods. The story has a really smooth flow making this book such an easy read. I really enjoyed Soul of the Stone. I really hope the next part won't take long before release, since I am really curious about what else there is waiting for Texas. I give Soul of the Stone a 4 star rating.
