Really enjoyed this book!
Save the Date, by Allison Raskin, is a romcom based on the author’s own real life experiences. Emma Moskowitz, is a family therapist and relationship expert with a large online following and a book deal. When her fiancé Ryan breaks up with her six months before their wedding, Emma decides to take matters into her own hands. She decides that Ryan’s actions should not stop her from building the life she desires- so Emma embarks on an experiment called “Operation: Save My Date”. Emma decides to use her expertise in relationships to find a new groom for her wedding date that is compatible and willing to make the commitment. The story is fun to read with a cast of supporting characters including her rich and opinionated older sister, supportive parents, and skeptical business partner - as well as two very different men. Will is a podcast producer who has a lot of chemistry with Emma and makes her laugh- but who is appalled at the path Emma is pursuing. And Matt is a sweet, gorgeous recent divorcee who is totally onboard with Emma’s plan. The author also does a good job incorporating Emma’s anxiety into the plot. The book is very satisfying and enjoyable! Highly recommend!!
Thanks so much to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy.

Emma Moskowitz has been dumped by her finance mere months before the wedding. As a couples therapist with a book deal on the line, this could prove disastrous for her career. In an attempt to prove a point, and to save her career, Emma decides she'll save the date of her wedding and simply find a new groom, how hard could it be? Emma exhausts all avenues, exes, online apps, and family contacts to find her new Mr. Right. However what she doesn't expect to find is that maybe it is all wrong after all...
While the premise of the book was cute, it was a miss for me, I found it to be difficult to stay engaged with the character for any length of time. The transitions seemed awkward making the story feel a bit forced to me.

I loved this book. You really felt for Emma and were cheering for her during Operation: Save the Date. It was a book I didn’t want to put down and I loved the character development and the realism around getting your heart broken while dealing with anxiety! I highly recommend - especially if you are in a reading rut and need to get out of it.

A really nice read by my new fave author
Save the date is the book I need rn, I can’t put it down, it’s so good

Holy cannoli. Someone call Hollywood STAT, because this book needs to be a movie!! Save The Date is the story of relationship expert / therapist Emma, reeling from the heart break of her fiancé leaving her just 6 months before their wedding. After resolving to keep her wedding date, she embarks on the hunt for the perfect guy willing to walk down the aisle with her just in time for the anticipated date!
This book stunned me. To be honest, I cracked this open with low expectations (what a peculiar premise!), however this book was full of gut punches and heart felt interjections regarding the human condition. I was quickly entranced reading about Emma’s journey with self love and acceptance, as she navigates a wacky, self imposed situation. This book tackled themes of love at all ages, and how the base of lasting relationships is communication. It felt more like a memoir of an anxious over thinker in this current age of internet pressure, rather than romantic fiction, and was extremely relatable for anyone who’s experienced heartbreak and an entanglement of feelings. And it celebrates therapy! This was a great rom-com vibes book, full of more heart than I ever anticipated, and I am here for it. Overall, do recommend checking this out on April 8, 2025! Thank you to Allison Raskin and Harlequin Trade Publishing for allowing me to receive an advanced reader copy!

What an unexpected delight! Emma, a multi-hyphenate marriage expert, is left six months prior to her wedding and comes up with an unconventional method to save her wedding date. She will simply swap out the groom for a new one. Easy, right? This book was quite a rollercoaster ride--Emma navigates through her breakup, encounters with exes and thereafter through promising prospects for Groom 2.0.
I really enjoyed the therapy aspect of this book. There are great themes of worthiness and vulnerability that the author explores throughout this story. The message is a wonderful one and the second act scene involving Emma's confrontation was a thrill. All readers will enjoy that particular speech, I know I did!
Special thanks to Harlequin Trade Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC!

Super easy, fast, engaging read that kept me interested. Emma is unceremoniously dumped by her fiance, who gives her no excuse or explanation. Obviously reeling, she moves back in with her parents and wonders how she's going to move on and where she went wrong... after all, she's a therapist who specializes in relationships.
I think the writing could use some work, and at times things seemed to happen out of nowhere (like the random knee dislocation - what???) The cover is the stuff of nightmares (sorry Allison). But darn it if I didn't absolutely love finding out what would happen next. There's next to no spice, the one sex scene ends before it begins, so if you like romance but don't need the heat, this is a great choice for you. Props to Raskin for taking a wild personal experience and turning it into a fun book.

When Emma is left by her fiancé, she quickly decide to do an experiment to save her date and just find a new groom. She meets Will, who is a podcast producer, and they hit it off. However, he is not interested in getting married so quickly. He does ask her to start a podcast on this journey and then she is set up by her brother-in-law with Matt. Matt is recently divorced and into the quick marriage idea.
I thought it was a cute and quick read. Predictable, I thought there were other avenues to take. But, I did enjoy the last chapter / epilogue!

Unfortunately for me, I could not finish it. The pacing was too slow for me, and I just could not get into it.
Something I did enjoy, however, was the concept or story line of the book. I thought it was a cute idea and I liked that it was loosely based off a true story by the author herself.
The story is about Emma who is a couples therapist who is dumped by her fiancé, 6 months before her wedding. She has a book deal, she’s an online content creator and has her own private practice as a couples counselor and that all is based on her expertise on relationships. If the world found out she was single again, she would lose her credibility… if only she could find a new groom by her wedding day, then nothing would have to change (Operation: Save My Date). Emma uses her online platform to then share her untraditional journey to the altar…
Again, I really found the concept of this book to be a really sweet story line, it just didn’t take off for me and I just couldn’t connect with the characters.
Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the opportunity to review this book.

"Save the Date" by Allison Raskin is a romantic comedy that follows Emma, a couples therapist whose world is turned upside down when her fiancé calls off their wedding. With her professional reputation on the line, Emma embarks on a quest to find a new groom before the big day. The story cleverly balances humor and heart as Emma navigates unexpected connections, personal growth, and the pressure of meeting expectations. Raskin's writing is relatable and insightful, making this a delightful read about love and self-discovery.

“I’m not perfect. I know I’m not cool or chill or low maintenance. But that doesn’t mean I am unlovable.”
Every woman needs to hear those words and have them engrained in their brain. “Save the Date” by Allison Raskin, which loosely follows her experience with losing her fiancé, is a must read for anyone questioning where they are in their life.
Emma, the main character, is a couple’s counselor, YouTube phenom and supposed to be getting married in 6 months when her fiancé walks out with no warning and little explanation. Cue her big plan, find a new groom by the time of the original wedding.
Now you may think that this is just a book about how when one door closes another door opens, but this book gets to the heart of trying to fit a round peg into a square hole and what to do when you aren’t where you thought you would be.
“Save the Date” is much less, ‘101 Guide to Snagging a Husband’ and more ‘How to Navigate Your Life When It Falls Apart’ - which every 20-something woman can learn from. From funny quips to deep, thought-provoking topics about relationships and what happiness looks like, I whole-heartedly recommend this book to anyone who wants to feel a little less alone in their uncertainty.

I absolutely adored this book! Quick read with genuinely lovable characters. It was a heartwarming story with the perfect happy ending.

Well that was interesting. I was excited to read this book based on the description, which I think was better than the book. 😬
Why are ALL rom coms lately about unhealthy individuals with anxiety… who do cringy thing after cringy thing. I don’t read books to be bombarded by problems. I read books to have a good time, be entertained, and escape my problems.
So this book is about a woman Emma (a couple therapist) who gets dumped by her fiancé six months before their wedding. She then decides to keep the date, venue, and everything that goes with it and just find a guy to marry. After a few weeks she gets back out in the dating world.
She meets Will through a dating app and they hit it off. I did like Will’s character. He’s witty and fun. They have great chemistry and banter. After Will isn’t on board with getting married so soon. Emma meets Matt a recent divorcee who’s ready to take the plunge with marriage again with Emma. He’s smart, handsome, and sweet. They don’t have chemistry and try to force everything.
The ending was really predictable, but cute.
Emma’s character was a train wreck. She is unhealthy, DESPERATE, anxious all the time to the point where it was so cringy to read. She also was so annoying needing a guy to feel whole. 😬
While I liked the concept. I was turned off at the approach of a few things. I felt like the authors agenda and views were screamed at me quite a few times in the book. I also didn’t appreciate the casualness of all the relationships. Like in a few short weeks Emma had dated and almost hooked up with three different guys. Yuck. I didn’t like that marriage was just a convenient social expectation. Marriage is sacred and beautiful, not something to do on a whim.
Thank you NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing, and Allison Raskin for this ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is a fun idea for a story that was sparked by Allison Raskin’s own personal experience with a break-up. Save the Date follows Emma, a couples therapist who was happily engaged to Ryan. She has built her career on understanding successful relationships and giving advice to others. She even has a burgeoning book deal and a popular YouTube channel. Then her fiancé calls off the wedding with no real explanation or even a discussion. Emma is left with all her old insecurities. And how is she going to navigate her career now that her own love life is in shambles?
I loved her support system which included her sister Jackie, brother-in-law Chris, her loyal friend Imani and her endearing parents, Alan and Debbie. Emma begins to think maybe she doesn’t need to cancel her wedding. She can simply find another person who wants to be committed and is willing to get married the same day she had planned. And just like that, “Operation Save My Date” was born.
I have to admit that I saw where the story was heading and I was all in for how it turned out!
I want to thank the publisher for providing me with a free copy through NetGalley for an honest review.

I liked the premise of the book, but it just ended up not being what I like in a romance. I found our MC to be a little annoying at times. As a therapist myself I think it’s really hard for anyone, especially a non-therapist to write a therapist as a character, especially in this genre, even if the writer has been in therapy it’s a totally different thing. The social media part seemed to take over what ways important to Emma and by the end I feel like she really didn’t grow or change all that much and was still trying to find purpose in her relationships and not really with herself. I didn’t really feel invested in what happened with them at the end and Emma’s wishy-washiness was frustrating. Everyone else in the story kind of felt like a 60% baked version of a person. I think this premise had a lot of potential but I think it could have been better if Emma was either an active therapist or a therapist who does social media, not a practicing therapist also doing social media which I think can be tricky to pull off in my perspective.

I really enjoyed the premise of the book, and it had so much potential. The ending was a pleasant surprise, offering a refreshing twist that defied typical expectations, which I truly appreciated. The author’s incorporation of mental health themes was another standout, especially knowing they were based on her personal experiences—this added a layer of authenticity and depth that made the book even more meaningful.
That said, while I loved the overall concept, I felt that the execution could have been a bit more polished in certain areas. I personally dislike fade-to-black sex scenes, but I understand that this is a matter of personal preference. Additionally, I had some difficulty connecting with the characters and getting fully invested in their journey, which affected my overall engagement with the story.

I really liked this book. It took me a few chapters to really get invested in Emma and her story, but once I was there I finished the book that day. Loved that the story was different from your basic romance novel and loved the ending!!

This story follows Emma, who is a couples therapist and has just been dumped by her fiance. Instead of cancelling her wedding, she decided to find a new groom instead and she only has 6 months to do it. Oh, and she's also going to post it online for her massive social media following.
This was a fun read that managed to be both lighthearted and also point a spotlight on relationships to look at what makes a relationship actually work and last instead of fizzle out.
This story was witty, had a good dose of comedic charm, and was a nice change of pace from your typical romance stories. I enjoyed this book and would definitely read more of her work.

This was so clever and a fresh spin on getting over a heart break.
