Great psychological thriller

I listened to this audio book in one fell swoop (at double speed). It caught my attention and made doing some household chores much more enjoyable. It wasa.

It opens with Carla, a teenage British girl calling her best friend, Ellie, and saying that she is running away to Liverpool immediately and wants Ellie to join her. But Ellie doesn't think it is a good idea and stays home,. Carla is never heard from again. Well, the police say that they talked to her shortly after she left and she said she was fine, But Ellie doesn't believe that and has spent the next decade trying to find Carla. When Ellie's fiancee, who happens to be Carla's brother, says that he found Carla through a private investigator, Ellie is suspicious. Especially when she meets "Carla" and something feels really off. "Carla's" mother and brother may think they have found her, but Ellie is sure the woman is a fraud.

Then the twists come when Carla's family say that she hated Ellie and that Ellie may have left because she was afraid of Ellie. You don't know who to believe. Is Ellie trying to find her best friend, or someone she is obsessed with?

Excellent writing and a great plot.

Eh… I don’t know about this one. I would consider it a popcorn domestic/psychological thriller. You have to be willing to go way outside the realm of possibility to digest this storyline. It was listenable, but all of the characters were unlikeable to me and the story just kept getting more ridiculous as it went on. This book wasn’t my favorite from the author, but I also seem to be in the minority with my opinion, so you may very well love it.

I looked and saw that there was only one narrator and I’m impressed at the old lady voice she pulled off! Nice work.

Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and Dreamscape media for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I am thankful to have gotten the audio ALC for free from Netgalley and Dreamscape Media so I can leave my voluntary review.

Overall I liked the book. It was well written and fast paced. However I found it a little predictable as the concept has been done so many times. But it is a really good thriller.

The narrator had a nice voice and read the story well. It did require speeding it up to at least 1.25x to make it listenable.

My rating system since GoodReads doesn’t have partial stars and I rarely round up.

⭐️ Hated it
⭐️⭐️ Had a lot of trouble, prose issues, really not my cup of tea (potentially DNF’d or thought about it)
⭐️⭐️⭐️ Meh, it was an ok read but nothing special
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really enjoyed it! Would recommend to others
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding! Will circle back and read again

Wow. What a wonderful surprise. This was the first book that I have read by this author, and I’m looking forward to reading many more! This book was full of twists and turns and the twist kept coming and kept coming and kept coming. Just when you thought that you were gonna figure out what was going on Yet another twist appeared. I really enjoyed the journey and I read it within one day thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for this opportunity!

Holy twists and turns. This was definitely a superior thriller. If you think you know you don't. In this book, there is no one to trust and you definitely cannot guess the ending. The author definitely takes the reader on a wild ride that doesn't stop till the very end. I want to read more by this author.

This was everything I wanted in a thriller. Where you know something is off and trying to figure out what it is. My guess slightly changed where I knew one character was involved and then being floored when another was also involved. And the reappearance of Susan. I did hate how the town completely turned on Ellie even though she grew up there. Almost wish she got some justice for how people had ostracized her.

Highly recommend this book. I will share it to my Instagram just before pub date.

🤯🎧👀AUDIOBOOK REVIEW👀🎧🤯

⭐⭐⭐⭐💫

🫶Huge thank you to @dreamscape_media for the audiobook!

📖Title: Don't Believe Her
✍️Author: Nicola Sanders
📅Pub Date: October 15, 2024
⏳Audiobook Length: 8hrs, 59min
🗣️Audiobook Narrator: Jodie Harris

🤯Wow- I don't know how Nicola Sanders does it- she makes these books SO ADDICTIVE! Just like her previous thriller, DON'T LET HER STAY, I flew through this audiobook in 24 hours and wasn't bored for even a second!

👀Ellie has never moved on from the day her best friend Carla dissappeared and will do anything possible to find the truth of what happened to her. Even though she's happily engaged to her missing BFF's brother, Nick (👀👀👀). Things quickly get crazy when Carla returns after many years and doesn't seem at all familiar to Ellie anymore.

📖This one was just a blast from start to finish and I knew I'd be in for twist after twist and to believe nothing and she STILL SURPRISED Me! The characters in this book were CRAY CRAY and I was THERE FOR IT!

🎧If you're in need of an audiobook you'll never want to pause, you need it to be this one!!

Don’t Believe Her by Nicola Sanders starts off as a medium-paced thriller, with great character development. After reading past the 50% mark, hang on to your reading glasses, this train is flying off the rails. Hoooooly cow! It was like the characters were having a race for who was the most crazy. I’d say, it was a photo-finish because I, honestly, have no idea. This was a fun, small-town, twisty read filled with lies, cover-ups and deception. Would recommend to anyone trying to break a reading slump. Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the pre-released audiobook. - the narrator, Jodie Harris, did an excellent job.

This is a spellbinding thriller that hooked me from the very first chapter! As someone who loves psychological suspense, this audiobook kept me on the edge of my seat with its constant twists and underlying sense of dread.

The premise is captivating—the main character, living what seems like the perfect life, is suddenly confronted by the return of her long-lost best friend. But is it really her? As the cracks begin to form in their reunion, you can feel the tension build, and the psychological mind games unfold with brilliant pacing. The creeping unease of Carla’s return and the questions surrounding her identity make for a chilling mystery!

The audiobook narration by Jodie Harris really added another layer of intensity. It’s atmospheric, eerie, and perfectly matched to the suspense Sanders weaves into the story. I loved how the plot kept me guessing until the very end—there’s no shortage of surprises!

If you’re a fan of thrillers that leave you questioning everything and feeling breathless, this is a must-read.

Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Nicola Sanders for providing me with the audiobook in exchange for my honest review. I enjoyed every minute of it!

Don't Believe Her by Nicola Sanders has me reeling!!

WOW! I am so glad I was given this advance audiobook from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. :)
Thank you: NetGalley, Nicola Sanders, and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity.

I finished this book in one sitting, and I was absolutely floored at the conclusion. Sanders left no loose ends even though there were a lot of plot twists. It was not predictable whatsoever, and the storyline was unlike any book I've read before. Well done.

The story follows a group of friends who are reunited after a traumatic event in their past, only to find themselves entangled in a web of deceit and suspicion. Sanders masterfully builds tension, skillfully weaving in flashbacks and present-day events to reveal the secrets of the past. The characters are well-developed and relatable, each with their own complexities and motivations. The mystery kept me engaged and eager to find out the truth.

I can't wait to read more by this author.

Don't Believe Her
An addictive psychological thriller with a shocking twist
by Nicola Sanders
Narrated by Jodie Harris

I received an ARC of this audiobook from Netgalley.

I was worried that this book would resemble the TV show Revenge, but it doesn’t.

I think that seasoned book sleuths will be able to figure out a lot of the twists and turns, or at the very least guess at them.

If you enjoy a good psychological thriller that will keep your attention - this is the book for you.

I can’t say it’s the best book I’ve ever read, but I can say it would make a hell of a movie.

My feeling upon finishing this audiobook reminds me of the feeling I’ve gotten after watching 90’s psychological movie thrillers.

Worth a listen!

Absolutely brilliant listen, I enjoyed this one a lot. Between the great writing and excellent narration, by half way through I was positively incensed on behalf of protagonist Ellie, cursing out everyone making her life more difficult, and wanting to intervene on her behalf! There are a couple of last minute twists which make up for the frustration and create a thoroughly satisfying ending.

I received this audiobook via NetGalley but opinions are my own. I really loved this audiobook! It had so many twists and turns that left me very surprised. I didn’t want to stop listening and was very invested through the entire book. I felt so frustrated for Ellie and really wanted her to find someone to be on her side. So much more happened after that though!

The narrator did a great job and really drew me in to the book! I typically struggle with audiobooks narrated by those with non-American accents, but this one actually was quite easy to understand even at 2x speed.

I had previously read Don’t Let Her Stay by this author and I liked this title much better. I will definitely be on the lookout for more titles by this author in the future. Thank you to the publisher, author and Netgalley for the opportunity to listen and review!

Ellie's life is going well with a beautiful daughter and an engagement to her longtime crush, Nick. When Nick's long-lost sister Carla returns home after years of being missing, everyone is excited except the woman. She starts noticing strange behavior from Carla, leading her to believe that something is off. Despite her concerns, no one believes her, until she discovers the truth - Carla is not who she claims to be.

This book exceeded all of my expectations! From the moment I pressed play, I was completely engrossed and couldn't bring myself to hit pause. The story is filled with frustration and constant guessing, keeping me on the edge of my seat until the very end. What an unexpected ending! The writing is clever and well-crafted, making for an incredibly engaging read.

The character development in this book is exceptional. Each character evolves gradually, leaving me pondering what I would do if I were in Ellie's shoes. The plot escalates from zero to crazy in the blink of an eye, with unexpected twists and turns that kept me guessing until the final pages.

The narrator's performance is outstanding, drawing me in with their captivating voice. Their delivery was spot-on, making them the perfect choice for this audiobook.

If you're a fan of suspenseful reads filled with unexpected twists, nonstop action, and captivating storytelling, then this book is must-read.

Thank you, Dreamscape Media for audio ARC copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Holy Crap! What a fun read!!!!

This was my first book from this author and I'll definitely be going back for more!!!

What would you do if your best friend went missing, only to reappear years later? What would you do if you were sure it wasn't really her?

This thriller kept me on my toes. Every twist and turn took me somewhere I didn't expect. Every guess I made was off. The pacing was great and the author did a great job of building and maintaining tension and suspense.

I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good domestic thriller because this is definitely a great one!!!

Thank you so much, NetGalley, for the ALC to listen to and review. 💕

OMG! When I first started listening to this book it gave me major deja vu but I can’t come up with why. I continued to listen and wow a bunch of twists and turns I didn’t see coming.

Thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the E-ARC Audiobook.

This one actually kept me guessing until the big reveal! I thought I had predicted early on where this story was going, and while I had a small piece of puzzle, I did not have the full picture at all. I am usually pretty good at seeing the "twist" early on, so it was really exciting to read something that kept me guessing throughout the whole story. I want to talk about more details of the story and the excellent writing that makes you wonder who is actually crazy, but I don't want to spoil any of the experience of reading this book.
If you liked Nicola Sander's previous books, then you will enjoy this as well. I would recommend this book for fans of Freida McFadden, Lisa Jewell, and Lucinda Berry. This is a very enjoyable thriller, and I could not put it down once I started it. The narrator did a fantastic job. I could listen to her read the dictionary.
