Thank you to Netgally for an ARC of this book to read and review.
HOW did I never know books about people who play D&D existed?! As both a reader and D&D lover this is information I need!!!!!
I freaking loved this book and was sucked in on every page. I loved that the teenagers in this book acted like teenagers: they were awkward and cringy and obsessed over their favorite fandoms. They felt like real people and I fell in love with every one of them! (Except a few - they know who they are and they don't deserve our love!)
Here are just a few stand alone (spoiler free) pieces of this book that might pique your interest: a meddling grandma, a super protective younger brother, an intense pickleball match, a geeky and adorable MMC, pancakes(!!), adorable best friends, comic con (kinda), baby cows, live streamed D&D. Are you sold yet?! How could you not be?!
Read it and then geek out about it with me???

Another cute YA book by Kristy Boyce centered around a group of teenagers and their love for D&D (Dungeons & Dragons). While I have never played D&D myself, I still found this story enjoyable. Quinn is relatable with the friend issues she is dealing with as well as being the new kid at school. The friend group is super cute and I love their interactions while they are gaming. The mutual pining between Quinn and Logan is enjoyable, but it definitely feels anticlimatic at times as well. I was waiting the whole time for the group to go into Riley and Nathan’s game shop for a cameo that never happened (The characters from Dungeons and Drama). Overall solid follow up YA book.
Thank you NetGally, Kristy Boyce, Random House Children’s | Delacorte Romance for and advanced digital copy of this book.

I want to thank the publisher for the ARC! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now- here’s my honest vibe check:
I was initially going to give it 4 stars because the ending felt somewhat rushed and it did feel too juvenile at times. However.. I had to remind myself this IS a young adult novel. After seeing some other reviews I thought that was worth pointing out for anyone considering this book!
I think that if you go into it wanting to feel giddy and just feel and remember the awkwardness, that came along with dating when younger.. this is the perfect pick! Lol
The book itself is cute af! I mean.. D&D and dating?! Plus don’t even get me started on the cover! This would’ve been a book I would’ve gone crazy in high school for. Tbf- I still went crazy at my ripe 27 years haha when I saw it announced and after reading the first book, it was a no brainer I was going to enjoy the book.
But in all honesty, I’m reading it for the vibe, as the story itself def is aimed towards younger readers imo.

I already had high standards going into this book since I enjoyed Kristy Boyce's first book so much, and I am so happy to say that all my expectations were met! Dating and Dungeons was the sweetest, most fun YA romance! It had everything I was looking for. From the witty banter to the cozy plot and the adorable romance. I will be suggesting this book to so many people!

Very cute and nerdy! I would’ve loved to see more nerdy characters in YA while I was growing up. This was so fun and the side characters were diverse.

This was such a cute read! What’s not to love?
D&D? ✅
Pickleball? ✅
Awkward teenage love? ✅
Funny old grandma? ✅
What a fun time! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review!!

Very cute book with loveable characters though it kind of felt super rushed especially the end :( but it is a cozy read so I recommend!

This was so cute. Quinn and Logan are part of the same D&D group from school, Quinn being new to the school is nervous to start with a new group and new group of friends after a *terrible* experience with her last one, and it morphs into something more serious with Logan, and a lifelong friends with Kashvi (who may or may not have a crush on Logan or Quinn’s brother) Quinn is trying to navigate the complexity that is being a teenager, while also trying to find her way around a new life, aging grandma, and new friend group she doesn’t want to mess up and it’s just a fine line to walk. This ends with her and Logan in a STEAMY FOR YA slow burn whirlwind romance that was so fun to read take shape and see Logan and how he went about his little “mine to protect” thing teen boys love to do. For a young adult teen book this was such a cute fun good story with lots of great characters and better storylines.

I honestly loved this!! I was a little skeptical at the start, I didn’t really understand all the DnD terms. Not sure why though, I’ve read and loved all of Kristy Boyce’s other books. Overall, this was such a fun and cute read. The romance between Logan and Quinn was so sweet and felt really well developed. I also loved how her new friends were such a big part of the book. I think it’s really important for the reader to be shown that there’s more than just romantic relationships to life. Her family and grandmother’s role in the story was also really cool, I loved all their interactions and felt like each character had a distinct voice. Dating and Dragons was such a good read, and was really well written. Definitely worth checking out!

What a sweet book! I really enjoyed this book. It was the best of almost everything you could ask for in a book. It had some serious portions but also some really sweet innocent moments as well. Even though the characters were younger than me, I definitely related to their experiences even today. I look forward to reading more books from this author!
Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for a copy of this book!

I loved Kristy Boyce's previous book, Dungeons and Drama so I was excited to read another gamer-romance book by her. In Dating and Dragons we follow Quinn, who is new in town. She is looking to join a new D&D group to help make friends. On her first day at her new school, she meets a cute guy named Logan. When Quinn ends up showing up to try out for the group that Logan plays D&D with, he acts like a completely different person, being cold to her. Quinn joins the group which has strict rules - like no dating other members... Is it possible that Logan is being cold to her to avoid having to break that rule? HM.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by Kristy Boyce in the future.

I wish I had this book when I was a Geeky teen dreaming about finding my first love 💕
It was cute and easy to read and it felt so calming to read such a fluffy romance during time like this.
This is totally a book meant for teens so don’t read it with your adult mindset 🫶🏻

A super cute YA read! I requested this one because of my love of Dungeons and Dragons and it was SO FUN! The references to D&D were aplenty, and the actual game-play was so fun to read! This book was balanced in it's plot, relationships, tension, and humor! This is one I can definitely recommend!

I am not a big YA reader but let me tell you. I absolutely loved this book! A cute cheesy high school romance where he falls first?! Say no more. I loved the idea of two teens in a d&d group trying to hide their feelings from their friends while also not being able to help being around each other. One of my favorite parts of this story was seeing the cute wholesome friendship between Logan and Barbara, and him always making sure he never shows up to help out without her favorite orange sherbet. This book had me hooked the whole time! I laughed and then was also blushing the whole time over how cute Quinn and Logan were trying to fight their feelings for each other but it being impossible. I would highly recommend this book and I can't wait to read other books by Kristy Boyce! This was such an adorable read! 4.5/5 stars

Dating and Dragons was another cute ya story by Kristy Boyce.
Quinn and her family move to a small Ohio town to be closer to her grandma and escape bullying in her old high school. Quinn is nervous about making new friends when she meets a new group to play D&D with and hits it off with Logan. I very much enjoyed reading following along with their campaign and getting to meet Quinn’s grandma. She was a spitball while also secretly trying to play match maker for Quinn and Logan.
It was cheesy and dramatic, exactly how I picture 16 year olds. Minus some of the extra spicy flirty things logan would said. that was not g rated lol.
Thank you to netgalley for an early copy of this book! 🫶🏻

This novel follows Quinn as she moves schools and joins a new D&D group. She meets Logan in this group, but she has to battle with her feelings due to the no dating rule in the group. We also see relationship dynamics between Quinn and her friends, Grandma, and brother.
This was so fun! I loved the livestreaming D&D aspect because it added quite some entertainment-especially at the end. Quinn's personality was exceptional, too. She was wary about Logan due to the falling out of her last D&D group, but she ultimately let her heart guide her. The relationships between Quinn and Kashvi as well as Quinn and her grandma were so fun. I loved Quinn's grandma!
She added a ton of needed humor to this novel.
If you love D&D and romance novels, this is the choice for you. It can get D&D heavy because the games were described in detail (which is great)!
I do wish we saw more of the shifting from friendship to romance between Quinn and Logan because I thought it was kind of sudden. I love it nonetheless!

I loved Dungeons and Drama and I just had to get my hands on Dating and Dragons!
In this we follow Quinn who moved to a new high school to be closer to her grandma. The move came as a God sent since she recently experienced a friend group break up.
Logan is super sweet and understanding of Quinn’s feelings. He was the perfect teen romcom love interest, he has moment where he wants Quinn to dislike him so she won’t join the D&D group because of the no dating rule but even then he was just too sweet to be disliked.
I loved the group dynamic, how they were so welcoming of Quinn and the banter was sooo good.
Granda was one of my favorite characters, loved how she was team Logan from the beginning! And all her shenanigans!
This was definitely as cute as Dungeons and Drama and it’s definitely a Must Read!
Thank you NetGalley and the Author for this ARC. This review is completely my own.

Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC!
“Today feels like a good day for bad choices.”
“We really botched this whole thing. I’m sorry we lied to you and went against the agreement and told you in this ridiculous, chaotic way, but the end result is the same. I love her, and if you say she has to leave, then I’m leaving with her.”
"The room fills with cussing and moaning, and I clap my hands over my face. Did I just tell Logan I love him for the first time in front of a live audience?"
“...This is a game table, not a feelings table"
Quinn is new to the town her aging and spunky grandmother lives in, which ends her up at a new school. Day 1, she's met with a fun crew of teens that her grandma embarrassed her in front of but they all easily connect and befriend one another over their shared love of D&D...except for one guy who seems to not know if he likes her or not. The D&D group's one major rule is to not date one another and that complicates things...
Quinn's grandma is a cute little matchmaker and sooooo supportive of her granddaughter. I loved how Quinn and Logan manage to help each other throughout the story, all leading to them falling for each other.
This is a sweet, age-appropriate young adult romance where high schoolers are acting like high schoolers. They're funny, quirky, struggling with growing up, worry about friends they care about, and have complicated families. 5/5 D20's.

Oh my goodness, I absolutely adored this book! It’s such a delightful read filled with heartwarming themes and charming characters. Quinn is starting fresh at a new school after her family moves closer to her grandma, and let me tell you, moving mid-year is no small feat! But when she joins a D&D group, she begins to forge new friendships and really come into her own.
Much like Dungeons and Drama, this book radiates a sweet teen romance vibe. The atmosphere is so wholesome and easygoing, capturing realistic emotions and situations without the drama weighing it down. I was thrilled to see a new release from this author after loving Dungeons and Drama. While I connected a bit more with the female lead in that story, this one still shines bright!
It’s such a fun and lighthearted read, brimming with D&D references that add a special touch. As someone who’s not too familiar with the game, there were moments in the gameplay scenes where I was a bit lost, but once I got into it, I found myself thoroughly enjoying every quest and adventure the characters embarked on.
And can we talk about Quinn’s grandma? She’s the ultimate sneaky matchmaker, and I couldn’t get enough of her! This story isn’t just a cute YA romance; it’s genuinely about friendship and discovering the people who truly matter in your life.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys YA romance, especially parents looking for great reads for their teens! The characters feel authentically like high schoolers, which I really appreciated. It's perfect for a lighthearted escape that leaves you with a warm, fuzzy feeling.
A huge thank you to NetGalley and Delacorte Press for the advanced copies in exchange for an honest review. You won’t want to miss out on this delightful journey!

This was such a cute book and I adored the theme and characters! Quinn is starting in a brand new school after her family moves to be closer to her grandma. Moving mid school year is tough but after joining a D&D group, Quinn begins to open up to new friendships.
Much like Dungeons and Drama, this is a sweet teen romance. There’s an easy, wholesome atmosphere to the whole book, not too many stakes but at the same time, showcasing realistic emotions and situations.
All the characters are lovable and unique. Creating their D&D campaign was a fun angle, I could imagine watching their live stream in real life. I think this is a great story for a teen audience or anyone looking for a lighthearted read with friendships and a feel good vibe.
Thank you to Delacorte Press for the early review copy.
