Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC! This is an honest and unbiased review.

I really enjoyed this book it’s a fun, low-stakes adventure with a lighthearted feel. The addition of the Dungeons & Dragons element was fantastic; it brought a unique twist to the story and added to the excitement I was missing from Dungeons and Drama. I could tell that the author loves D&D which made me feel seen 💕 The characters were all charming, and I especially loved Kashvi and Sloane!

The friend group was great but I would have like to know more about their relationships and bonds. I also felt that the “I love you” moments happened pretty fast such a high school thing, which I find hard to relate to. But that’s part of the charm of high school romances; they’re sweet, a little awkward, and make you nostalgic. I am a sucker for brother and sister dynamics because I too have amazing brothers. This but had not one but two brother/sister siblings 🫶🏽

Overall, this is a delightful read that I’d happily recommend to my younger cousin and her friends. It’s perfect for readers who love a bit of fantasy, genuine friendships, and a warm, upbeat story 🙂‍↕️

First time reading anything by Kristy Boyce and have to say, this was an adorable light YA romance. I know nothing about dungeons and dragons but this book really made the game sound like a lot of fun and I’d be interested to watch some gamers play so I can learn more about it. I do wish there were some more scenes of their group playing the game tho as their banter and storytelling was great entertainment. The authors writing was very easy to digest and overall the book was a quick read. Great book for teens, young adults and adults. Nice clean book. I enjoyed all of the characters and grandma was absolutely hilarious and steals the show.

Thanks to NetGalley and Random House Children’s for sending me an ARC copy to read and review. I truly enjoyed Dating & Dragons!

4.5 Rounded up

I found dungeons and drama because the cover caught my eye and I'm a nerd at heart. When I heard Boyce was writing another book, I was instantly ready, and when I cracked it open, I was instantly hooked. I think I liked Logan quite a lot. He was a much stronger love interest and I loved the way he loved Quinn. I wasn't too fond of his wishy washy ways but the plot made it make sense as to why he'd act that way. Plus, teenage boys will do that kind of thing so it wasn't inaccurate to say the least. In adults it's cringe and tacky, but understandable with 16 year olds. I'm taking half a star for the weird "sexual tension" comment and the "we'll give you guys some space wink wink" comment because ... a little uncalled for with 16 year olds, but I digress. Overall, it was really sweet, nerdy, and had strong leads and side characters. I felt satisfied and happy with the amount of on page time from every character and I adored Kashvi so much. I can't wait to read more from Boyce!

This is the perfect romance for someone who enjoys board games, D&D, or other nerdy things. This story focuses around a girl named Quinn who has to relocate schools so her family can be closer to her grandmother. She was a part of another D&D group that ended horribly due to her rejecting another member. Soon after starting her new school, she makes friends with a girl who is apart of another D&D group. This group has rules however, one of which being that members can't date one another.

Things start to take a turn when Quinn finds herself developing feelings for another member in the group named Logan. He seems to hate her when she first joins the group, but over time you start to realize why. They start to become closer and it becomes more difficult for them to avoid each other and respect the groups rules. Rules are in place for a reason, right? I really enjoyed all of Quinn's friends and thought that they all added something unique to the story. My favorite part was when they actually had D&D sessions and you learned about their characters and read about them role playing. It was as if I was watching a real D&D session!

Thank you to Netgalley, Random House Children's, and Kristy Boyce for an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion.

Kristy has a way of writing that makes you feel immersed in the story. I have never played Dungeons and Dragons but after reading both of her Dungeons and Dragons books I really want to.

I love the group dynamic between everyone in the party. Quinn might have joined late and is new but she fits right in with them all! They seem like such a fun group to be apart of. They make dice jewelry, live stream playing d&d every Saturday with snacks, hang out and eat pancakes at the diner Sloane works at and they even went to a comic fest dressed up in a group costume.

Quinn and Logan have an interesting relationship as soon as they meet you can tell they like each other and then suddenly when Quinn wants to join the party Logan doesn’t like the idea and is cold about it and starts acting harsh towards her to try to get her to quit. We later find out it’s because the d&d group has a rule that you can’t date anyone in the party.

This slow burn romance happens between them and the will they won’t they trope. They both are friends and like each other but Quinn is especially too scared to risk it and lose her friendships in the group. She doesn’t know how they will react. After she got involved with a guy in her last d&d group and it didn’t work out all of her friends left her including her best friend and sided with him. She doesn’t want to take that chance of losing her new friends.

I enjoyed Dating and Dragons. All the characters were really likable and it was a quick read. Their d&d campaigns are fun and I love all of the friendships. Especially Kashvi and Quinn’s friendship.

I heard so much good things about Drama and Dungeon (haven't read it) and I have high hopes for this one. I like it. 3,5⭐ rounded up.

I wish I was 16 and finding this book for the first time. I would be soooo delightful.

It has everything a cute highschool romance needs to be.
- Moving to a new school? ✅
- Friendship vs boy problem? ✅
- Siblings dynamic? ✅
- Grandma Cupid? ✅
- Teenagers being passionate about D&D? ✅

I love how it's indirectly showing how important consent is. I love that Quinn, our main character, is all about finding great friends. It showed u how a healthy group of friends look like.

Oh to be sixteen and need to choose between your D&D group and your love life~ it might not such a problem but that's the kind of problem for many young adults. And I like it a lot for it not to be pretentious.

I love grandma Barbara and the parents are all parenting in this story 🥹

The romance is okayish and cringe at parts. But who doesn't get cringe romance at 16~ so all is good

I love how they're so passionate about D&D and make it familiar with the audience, too. I don't mind the explanation, but understand how some people might find it a bit unnecessarily.

It's nice but not the best highschool romance I've ever read. It doesn't get me giggling or anything. I would prefer the ending to be their usual views to make it more natural~

All and all~
It's recommended 🫶🏾
Thankyou so much for the arc in exchange of honest review.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Adorable! Although I liked Dungeons and Drama better, this was still a well written and cute YA romance. It was hard to put down and I just loved the characters and the chemistry.

Thank you, Netgalley, for allowing me to read an arc of this book! After reading Dungeons and Drama, I knew I needed to read this one, too. It is not a sequel, which I appreciate, and the story is so different than her first one.

Things I loved:
** More Dungeons and Dragons game playing
** No break ups between main characters

Looking forward to the next one!

Once again, I'm here obsessing over a YA D&D romance novel and honestly I never thought this specific sub-genre would exist but l'm here for it.
Quinn and Logan quickly became one of my favorite pairings I've read this year. They were both so supportive of each other without any of the typical chaos that comes from romance pairings. I loved the funny moments right alongside the deep and important moments. Then you add in the amazing group of secondary characters and I was hooked!
Plus, l'm a sucker for healthy girl friendships in books and Quinn and Kashvi are exactly that.
I'm happy l've found this series. There was a while where I felt like I just couldn't read YA anymore (which is ok! I'm not the target audience but it felt like leaving an old friend behind) but l've loved the way that Kristy has captured the chaos of teenage-hood but also leaves the story open to themes that stay relevant well into my thirty-hood. Also- when y'all see me trying to drill holes into D20s just leave me be, I want cute bracelets
For nerds and romance readers alike this is definitely one to add to the TBR!

Dating and Dragons was the perfect, forbidden love teen rom-com that I needed, and Kristy Boyce absolutely delivers!

This story follows Quinn, who, after transferring to a new school, meets a NEXT-LEVEL d&d group. There, she meets Logan (cue the swooning). However, dating within the group is off-limits, leading to loads of tension. The balance between sweetness and age-appropriate romance was spot-on! I loved how Boyce captured a realistic teenage dynamic. I found that the characters acted their age and behaved in a way that sent me back to high school despite being 22 (lol).

My only complaint would be the length. I needed more! Boyce has the material and ideas to flesh out Quinn and Logan’s personalities and plot-line further. Normally, I’m not a fan of romances over 500 pages, but this story had the potential to hold up if it did. I just wish there had been more pages to dive deeper. Some scenes felt rushed when they did not need to be! I adore Boyce’s writing so I wish there were more!

All in all, I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to fans of YA, romance, and d&d! Thank you to NetGalley and Delacorte Press for the ARC.

Thanks so much to Kristy Boyce and Random House Children's | Delacorte Romance for the eARC of this title. This is the second book in the Series. I loved Quinn and Logan! Quick cute read. Can’t recommend enough

The way I zoomed through this one in less than 24 hours. It was fun, unique, and h D&D aspects made it really stand out.

Wedlock he FMC Quinn as she starts at a new school, looking to make friends. She finds a D&D group and quickly develops tension with one of the members. Logan very clearly doesn’t want her to join the party, is it because of dislike or because this group has a strict no dating other members rule? Quinn and Logan are constantly being thrown together, mostly by Quinn’s grandma (ily grandma. The true mvp of the story).

Look I said, I flew through this one. I had a great time! But there were so many moments when everything was a little too dramatic considering the stakes. Which perfectly describes a teenage experience. It really is a great YA story. I actually found user wanting more from them playingD&D, which is not like me but the author did a great job with making this D&D newbie super interested!

No one likes to be the “new” kid, especially when transferring to a new high school in the middle of the February. Quinn is definitely not an exception to this experience. Rather shy and quiet, Quinn’s goal is to find a sense of community and friends. With the help of a glamorous grandmother, whether she wants said help or not, hopefully that goal can be achieved. One day after school while looking for clubs to join, she strikes up a conversation with Kashvi. Kashvi extends an invitation to join her Dungeons and Dragons group. Quinn, who desperately wants to get back into playing, with a less toxic group of players than her last is nervous yet terrified. I LOVE KASHVI!! The twins energy in general is just so fun, and the dynamic of when they play together during the campaign is hilarious. Although trouble arises after finding out the group has strict rules about dating within the group. Logan, another player and Quinn have an instant spark that does not burn out. They try to fight against the feelings but nothing slows them down. I also love the aspect of how they live stream their sessions, I don’t particularly watch D&D campaigns but I was obsessed with Dungeons and Daddies for a long time. Overall this book is super cute and fun!

Dnd is a cheat code to my heart but beyond that this book was just perfectly angsty and absolutely adorable! If you’re wondering if Kristy Boyce can create magic again, she absolutely can!

Quinn moves to a new high school and joins a D&D group in search of friendship, only to discover their strict no-dating rule. As she develops feelings for a charming yet frustrating player and faces drama from her past campaign, she must navigate her loyalties and emotions beyond the game.

Even though I know little about Dungeons & Dragons, this book was a fun read. I really enjoy Kristy Boyce’s writing, but I could have done without the characters referring to the '80s as ancient. ::panics in midlife crisis: I think Boyce is becoming auto-buy for me though. I know this girl needs a little lighthearted read now and again.

Thanks to NetGalley and Delacorte press for the ARC!

This book has been on of the most heartwarming books I’ve read so far this year. All the characters were likable and relatable, they had their own lives and insecurities and personalities all so defined that everything they did made sense. The main character were so adorable and sweet, by the end of the book I just wanted to hug them. I was so filled with joy with this book that I ran to get Dungeons and Drama (by the same author) just because I wanted to experience that level of joy from a book again.10/10

***Thank you to Netgalley and Delcorte Press for an e-arc copy of Dating and Dragons by Kristy Boyce! All thoughts are my own!***

After moving to a new high school, Quinn is desperate for friends, so she joins a D&D group with their own livestreamed sessions. They have serious rules in place, one being no dating fellow party members.

But when sparks fly with the cute but irritating, Logan, and ex-friends from an old school and campaign start stirring up trouble, she’ll need to figure out where her loyalties—and heart—lie beyond the game.

Dating and Dragons was one of my most anticipated books for 2025, so I'm SO happy I received an advanced copy to review! And even happier that it will be coming out at the end of this year!

I loved everything about this book. The Critical Role reference, the small Dungeons and Drama Easter egg, Quinn's grandma playing matchmaker, the depth of the D&D sessions and the party, the amazing group of friends Quinn joined, the cutest epilogue I have read in a book in a while. This book is probably going to be a comfort read for me, as well as Dungeons and Drama.

Reading a Kristy Boyce D&D book just makes me the happiest reader ever. I hope we get more D&D books in the future. Best believe I will read all of them and probably love them.

Dating and Dragons by Kristy Boyce is available December 31st!

After reading Dungeons and Drama, I was very excited to see that the author was writing more dungeons and dragons themed novels! I was very happy to pick this up, it very much captures the whimsy of DnD while also making it easy to understand for those who have never played. A very sweet romance that will have you giggling and kicking your feet.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an advance reader’s copy of *Dating and Dragons*. As a fan of Dungeons & Drama, I was thrilled to discover this title and even more delighted by the engaging story it delivered.

The world-building in this book is truly impressive, immersing readers in a vibrant and imaginative setting that feels both familiar and fresh. The romantic tension between Logan and Quinn is skillfully crafted, creating a palpable chemistry that keeps you invested in their journey. I also adored the dynamics within the D&D group; their interactions were lively and relatable, capturing the essence of what makes tabletop gaming so special.

While I would love to dive into my favorite scenes and share specific moments that stood out, I want to respect the fact that this is an ARC and refrain from spoilers. I can’t wait for the book’s official release so I can discuss it in greater detail. Overall, *Dating and Dragons* exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a blend of D&D, romance, and friendship.

To start off thank you Netgalley and Kristy Boyce for the ARC! This book had all the right levels of D&D and romance! I read Dungeons and Drama and I couldn’t put it down. Getting the opportunity to read Dating and Dragons was amazing!! Quinn and Logan are my absolute favorite! But hear me out Grandma over here being the sneaky self she was throughout this book just made it ten times better! If you have a love for role playing games and romance than I would highly recommend this book! It has such a balanced level of both but you also can’t help but fall in love with the characters and how they develop throughout the book!
