Knock Out by Logan Ryles
Mason Sharpe #8
Fast-paced, action-packed, thrill-ride from beginning to end ~ I had not read previous books in the series but had no trouble getting into the story and following it throughout. There might have been previous stories that would have fleshed Mason’s character out more but enough was there to be fine without it.
What I liked:
* Mason Sharpe: ex-military, ex-police detective, lost his fiancée in the past and is still carrying that pain, strong, intelligent, puzzle solver, stands up for the underdog, always gets back up, not invincible, suffers as humans do, a good man, learning and growing as he moves through life
* Riley Vaughn: FBI agent under cover, younger sister was murdered brutally, skilled motorcycle rider, still grieving, works well with Mason once they start working the case together
* Spencer Meyers: loves his family, trying to provide for his sister who has cancer, supporting of his sister and mother, makes some poor decisions for the right reasons
* The action scenes and that people did get hurt even though they were the good guys
* That I was smarter than mason and Riley in figuring out what the Gateway Hounds and their boss were up to before Mason and Riley figured it out
* That the bad guys were dealt with
* Wondering where Mason will end up next
What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Being a bit surprised by the mention of the Bible in more than one place in the book
* Thinking about the loss of innocent lives
* Thinking about how evil some people are and what they are willing to do for their own gain
Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Perhaps
Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the ARC – This is my honest review.
4-5 Stars
Knock Out by Logan Ryles is the eight book with Mason Sharpe as the lead character.
Sharpe is finally enjoying some much needed down time but this all stops when he spots three men beating up a kid in an alleyway. Sharpe sends the attackers on their way, and then patches up the kid, Spencer.
Spencer has set his target on earning some "quick" cash, by winning big money at an underground fight club. The fight club is run by a biker gang and Sharpe soon finds himself in a bit of a predicament..
Personally I wasn't keen on the fight club element, but it's Mason Sharpe, so it is still a book well worth reading!
Book #8 in the excellent Mason Sharpe thriller series. This type of thriller is my favorite read. Jack Reacher, Colter Shaw, Joe Pickett, Kay Scarpetta, all these and more with Mason Sharpe in good company. A lone ex-soldier, ex-lawman trying to find peace as he rights wrongs along the way, Sharpe takes on all comers. This was a quick read for me, because it's fast paced and a great plot. If you've not read this series, this is your chance. Plan a binge weekend and catch up.
Another thrilling Mason Sharpe story.
Mason is pulled into an Investigation of an illegal fight club when he steps in to save a young boy who is being beaten by members of a local motorcycle gang. The gang is out for revenge after Mason takes on all 3 of the attackers and severely incapacitates them.
Bring in an undercover FBI agent and suddenly there is more than just a fight club to investigate.
Great action and characters that jump off the pages.
Mason Sharpe at his best gritty, fast paced and exciting. A good plot with plenty of interesting characters.
I love this book& series. I didn’t feel like this book is as sharp as the previous but it’s still really good. Maybe because it starts pretty much the same as a previous book, & the overall plot is the same, help a kid in need with money & revenge. I don’t understand why more people aren’t aware of this author or reading him. I think these books are up there with the best bestsellers out there. #KnockOut #NetGaley
This was another strong entry in the Mason Sharpe Thriller series, it had what I enjoyed about the previous seven books. The thriller element had that charm that I was looking for and thought the overall concept worked with the plot and characters. It was written in the way that I expected from Logan Ryles, and is always a great read.
This is a very fast action book, with very realistic fights. The main character is a little slow in solving the mystery, but I guess he hasn't read as many books as I have. He also gets very stupid in his tactics, so that's a bit out of character. But this is a very fast and entertaining book.
Entertaining, fast paced and action packed. I enjoyed it and it was a fast read.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine
Knock Out delivers non-stop action, but the fight scenes felt a bit over the top for me. Still, it's an entertaining read with a solid plot that fans of the series will enjoy.
Action thriller series continues to provide great entertainment! This time we find Mason living in a trailer and riding a motorcycle as his truck is being refurbished in St. Louis. When he finds a kid being beaten by a group of thugs, he comes to the rescue, and no good deed goes unpunished. Add in a fight club, a double-cross, an FBI case being run by an undercover agent, corrupt police, judges, and politicians, and missing persons and you’ll get a complex, yet very entertaining, addition to this addictive series.
A pulse-pounding thriller that is so hard to put down, Knock Out is another great addition to the Mason Sharpe series. This time around, Mason gets embroiled in an illegal fight club run by a vicious biker gang and finds himself unravelling a larger criminal organisation with sinister intentions. There is action-galore and as always it's a great ride as we join Mason pulling apart the bad guys whilst seeking justice for those not able to do so themselves. I loved the pacing of this book - it doesn't really let up - and the conclusion is a good one, though for me not quite as satisfying as previous books in this series. There's still so much to like though and this series keeps on giving! Huge thanks to Inkubator Books and NetGalley for an ARC of this book!
This was a good thriller and it did play out in my head like a movie or a TV series. I think it was entertaining and kept me intrigued, but it was a bit heavy on the action, so for me I think it was overdone, but I know lots of people seek that,
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for this complimentary ARC in exchange for an honest review!!
