this was an intersting book. i usually don't love a clean romance, but the characters were fun. it was a bit misleading being a clean romance until reading it, so I would make it more prominent

This is a reader's dream I loved this book so much.. Grumpy/Sunshine? I'm on it really, the pace was good, the plot made sense and the spice was enough, I don't have any negative to say about it

The Enemy Plot is a lovely addition to the series that can be read standalone. It's a moving story of healing, love, and the ability of literature to unite people. This book is amazing. This is a great example of an enemies-to-lovers cliche, which I love. This story is the ideal mix of realistic characters navigating life, making friends, and falling in love—all while being genuine, kind, and growing.

Thank you to the author Marion De Re and NetGalley for this e-ARC.

Another fun filled romantic escape from Marion De Re, I really did enjoy this grumpy/sunshine , enemies to lovers light hearted romance, whilst I do like a little spice, this didn’t detract in any at that it was closed door. I will add just like a other reviewer noted as a nature loved or all kinds, killing spiders to me isn’t an action to be rewarded, even I’m someone is afraid, spiders are really wonderful for the ecosystem and least or all haven’t you read Charlotte’s web ! Rant over my only objection doesn’t detract from the rest go my enjoyment it this book and it’s a fun escape

I will say, I'm a girly that enjoys a bit of spice. I actually didn't mind that this didn't have any spice. The FMC was quirky but not in an obnoxious way and the MMC was grumpy in a way that annoyed me but as you got to know him, you understood why.

I found myself smiling a lot during this book. I also found myself rooting for Alice and wanting her to find her happy ending. Usually the 3rd act break up makes me angry but in the case of this book, I totally understood both sides of the argument, even if I found him to be a little harsh.

I actually really like this author's style and I hope to read more books by her in the future.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this arc!!

What a good book! I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I loved the main characters! They had great chemistry and worked so well together. I loved how the book just flowed. My first by this author but will not be my last!!!

My views on The Enemy Plot by Marion De Ré:

If you're in the mood for a feel-good, lighthearted romance, this novel might be for you. The story reads a bit like a Hallmark movie—predictable, sweet, and comforting. While it lacks surprises or deeper twists, its straightforward charm can be exactly what some readers are looking for: a harmless escape into a world of obvious romance and happy endings.

I did appreciate how the narrative alternated between the perspectives of the two main characters. This shift in viewpoint added some much-needed variety; whenever I grew frustrated with one character, the break in perspective provided just the right relief—and mixed it up a bit!

It’s an ideal pick for those who appreciate the simplicity of a cozy love story, especially when life calls for something warm and uncomplicated. The characters may not be particularly complex, and the plot might feel a little on-the-nose for the more cynical reader, but there's an undeniable appeal to its niceness. For romance fans or anyone seeking a break from darker tales, this book might be the perfect fit.

A note to add though: Killing a spider is NOT a hero move. Personally I’d see it S a dick move. Placing it safely back outside would’ve been better. I hate killing spiders.

The Enemy Plot by Marion De Re is a delightful romance wrapped in a literary atmosphere. The FMC, a passionate book lover, audiobook fan, and bookstore owner, finds herself caught up in a feud with her grumpy neighbor. What begins as an awkward arrangement slowly turns into something deeper. A fun book themed scavenger hunt date and more leads to some unexpected chemistry. The addition of the adorable niece adds an extra layer of sweetness, bringing warmth and lighthearted moments to the story. Marion De Re perfectly balances the thrill of piecing together bookish clues with the slow-burn romance, making this a fun, heartwarming read for fans of both love stories and literary adventures.

Enticing tropes:
Enemies to Lovers
Opposites attract
Grumpy Sunshine
Age gap
Single dad
Closed door

Quotes:
“Everyone knows the best book boyfriends are the ones who growl when you kiss them.”
“Let me take you out. These guys you’re going out with, they’re all wrong.”
“You keep choosing boys when what you need is a real man.”

Thank you to the author Marion De Re and NetGalley for the electronic copy of the book.

And Marion hits again 💗

I really liked this book. I feel like all the plots in all the books have unique story lines. Yes we see common things, but they’re just life struggles. The way Marion writes them, they’re so uniquely built to fit the story perfectly

I liked how Alice was in her lover era. Like me. I loved it actually. She didn’t give up, date after date until she found the right one. This book was proof that when you don’t look for love in someone, that’s where the real love is. Because again, same. When I stopped looking, I found him and he was right in front of my face my whole life🥹

I also love people who know exactly what they want. Alice, young, BUT very sunshiny and knows exactly what she likes and doesn’t like. She knows what she wants and what she doesn’t. She doesn’t let anything or anyone stand in her way and I really liked that about her

Lola was a great addition to this book. She added so much sass and wittiness. She’s funny and she’s cute and she’s just trying to fit in while grieving her great loss. I love how she’s passive aggressive with Deacon but really she just loves hiving him a hard time and she loves him so much

I also really liked the therapy sessions. The questions fired at Deacon and the information Lola sneaks to Dr. S and catches Deacon off guard had me cracking up. Also, the adventures and dates were really thought off. The trip they took together and the bookish date were absolute favorites

Deacon is very passionate and caring and ambitious and responsible and thoughtful. I think he was the perfect guy for Alice and the perfect father figure for Lola. He kept saying he’s lucky to have them in his life, which I agree, but really as hard as he was trying to keep everything normal for Lola and go out of his way to make Alice happy, makes me think that they’re the lucky ones

Really great book. I loved it💜

This was a great read. I am usually not a big fan of age gap tropes but this one worked. Alice and her friends have opened a bookstore after meeting through bookstagram. They all live and breathe for their cherished books. Living in the same apartment is a noisy, obnoxious, but very good looking man. Deacon has reluctantly moved to the city from his beloved small rural town, but he did it for his niece Lola. Deacon sister passed away and since all of his family are gone, he was the only one to take care of her. So here he is, 35 with a 13-year-old teenager. I love the characters, the banter and the grumpy sunshine. Their relationship got off to a rocky start, but they had some great interactions and the best dream date ever!! This is the second book in the series, but can be read as a standalone, it is a closed door but swoony romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

An enemies to lovers romance, the story of Deacon and Lola. Set in a bookstore so that's a great start! I liked how it was told from both points of view. Looking forward to the next book in this series.

I really enjoyed how good the romance was in this book, it had that element that was realistic and worked overall with what I was looking for. The characters were everything that I was looking for and enjoyed how they worked in the romance comedy. Marion De Ré has a great writing style and can’t wait to read more.

I think officially this may be a standalone book, but it has a few of the same characters in The Tenacious Act , so I highly recommend reading that one first so you have a background to the characters.
This story introduces a new man to the street and he has the same name as my son, which in itself isn't a weird thing, but in the UK Deacon isn't a very common name at all, and it actually made my day to see it in a book.
Small thing for small minds and all that 🤣
I have read quite a few of this authors books, and I have enjoyed every single one.
And this one was no different. It was very easy to read, with likeable characters and a decent storyline.
And it seems to have set up a 3rd installment already so will definitely be looking out for that one.
Great author, fantastic book - would highly recommend.

Welcome back to this adorable series, One More Chapter Book!!! I am loving these darling characters. What do you do when you find like-minded friends who love books as much as you do? Why start a bookstore together of course!!! These three girls, Alice, Haley and Emma are adorable! They're my kind of people! Book besties are the best kind of friends ever! I loved reading Haley's chapter in the first book and I loved Alice's book just as much!

Alice and her neighbor don't get off on the right foot, or conversation, when they first meet. Haha! It's about books, and it doesn't sit well with Alice at all. Deacon is a grump and doesn't even seem sorry with his brusque manner. And after that conversation he is firmly on her enemy list. Oh my word. These two are so funny to watch. Thankfully there are several things that they just don't know about each other, and when they finally take the time to break down the barriers they've put up, they start to realize there's more to each other than they first realized.

They still have their moments throughout the book. But I loved watching Deacon come to Alice's aid and not allowing others to be jerks to her. Oh the irony! Haha!

I also loved the relationship that develops between Alice and Lola, Deacon's niece. It was so sweet to see how that relationship helped Deacon become closer to his niece. There's more to the story than what I'm saying and I'm trying to avoid spoilers, just know you're going to love it!

So many great scenes. Deacon is a romantic at heart and Alice doesn't stand a chance when he let's his heart be open to possibilities. Swoon!!!

Also, I am beyond EXCITED for Emma's book!!!!!!!! I loved how the author set up her story in this book. I highly recommend reading them all, but in order. You could read them as standalones but definitely much better in order.

Content: Clean. Some kisses but nothing further. Deacon does own a bar so there's some scenes in a bar but the drinking is not the focus.

I received a copy from the author, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

She owns a bookstore with her friends and they live above it. He's the owner of the bar nextdoor and neighbor. His methods of coping with his grief is causing problems between them and between him and his niece. Will they be able to find common ground? What happens when his niece breaks some of the rules? Can they recreate a family from broken hearts?
I received a copy of this book from the author. Review voluntarily given.

Thanks to NetGalley and the author for this amazing ARC read!

I enjoyed this grumpy single dad neighbor x sunshine bookstore owner read so much! 🩷 The romance in this was so good, it got giggling and kicking my feet. As always, I love the bookish FMC, even better paired with a secret cinnamon roll MMC 🩷 There were so many scenes I loved in this book! (IFYKYK)

Aside from the romance, the character development of Deacon was also really well-written. I always appreciate MMCs who are written as openly vulnerable and raw, and Deacon is one of them. Plus, he’s such a great book boyfriend. I’m a sucker for MMCs who know how to use their attentiveness and awareness to their advantage, and this book had scenes that proved that 🩷

I haven’t read the first book in this series yet, but now that I’ve finished this, I definitely need to read more from Marion De Ré!
