4 stars! This was great! I hope more patterns come out. I love Taylor Swift and this was a lot of fun.

Sartori’s “Taylor Made” tips are a fantastic touch, allowing crafters to personalize their pieces. The combination of elegant fashion, home décor, and playful accessories makes this book a treasure trove for anyone wanting to channel their inner Swiftie through crochet.
With clear instructions and charming designs, Unofficial Taylor Swift Crochet is an enchanting celebration of creativity and fandom. Five stars for this beautifully crafted collection!
TL;DR: A delightful fusion of crochet and Taylor Swift's iconic style, this book offers over 20 fun projects for fans and crafters alike. Five stars!
I am the crochet club advisors at the high school where I teach. I ran to download this book so I could share with my swifties all the amazing projects they could make. I can't wait to make these projects with them, especially the cardigan! Thank you NetGalley for providing a copy of the book.
My thanks to the publishers for approving my request, based on crochet love more than being a Taylor Swift fan.
The author is one I am familiar with, she has written some fantastic tie in crochet books for main stream fandoms like Harry Potter, Star Wars and Disney.
She has made a really accessible book with a muted, colour palette featuring lyrics and quotes from Taylor, alongside items that are familiar from scrutinising Taylor's Instagram presence- though it is missing a trick on *that* dress being in it!-including her sweater cardigan, accessories for bedroom and living room alike, dolls dressed in her iconic Eras costumes, scarves, hats and more.
This would make a terrific gift for any fan , or for making for fans in the family, there are lots of handy hints and tips and how to's in the back section with pictures to show the way you can crochet , follow amigurumi style instructions to make the dolls, and how to put clothes together so that they are seamless.
All in all despite being unofficial, I think even Taylor herself would enjoy the way Lee Sartori has interpreted her style.
Listen, everyone is jumping on the TS bandwagon, from fast food chains to classrooms, so why not a book about crochet projects that were inspired by Ms. Swift and her music? That said, I might have been a bit too ambitious when I requested this book. I read that there are all levels of projects, but I’m truly a beginner, and was lost. Some of the projects are cute and my Swiftie niece is begging me to get my act together so I can improve enough to make her one of the projects, especially the Reputation Taylor doll or the cardigan. Cute idea, would do well in a library YA section.
A very niche, but cute book for Swifties and crafters alike. While most patterns are VERY Taylor Swift specific, some patterns are just cute enough for a non-fan to appreciate. The instructions seem clear, direct and consistent. Would recommend this for libraries where yarn crafts and/or Taylor Swift are particularly popular. Particularly in YA collections where crafting books circulate.
If you're a big enough fan to know exactly what cardigan I'm referring to when I say this book has a pattern for THE CARDIGAN, then you need the book.
I love the variety of patterns that are available throughout the book, from hats, to blankets, cardigans, and more. For those who love crocheting certain types of projects, there is a huge variety in here and at least one thing a crafty Swiftie could take away from here happy. I found the patterns to be easy to understand, and I'm barely more advanced than a beginner.
Unofficial Taylor Swift Crochet features all kinds of crochet patterns based on Swift's songs, music videos and aesthetic. There's wide variety of patterns and this book is fairly beginner friendly.
The idea for this book is wonderful. As someone who is part of quite a few fandoms, I adore fandom content. I can see that all the designers put in a lot of effort to create these patterns. I also really enjoyed the 'taylor-made for you' tips that came with the patterns.
I do feel I am not the audience for this book, and I am a little unsure what the right audience for this book is. The playful art style and writing feels more geared towards a younger audience, but the baby blanket and wedding shawl don't make much sense in this context.
However it is often the case with a collection of patterns that not all of them speak to you equally so that should not necessarily be a problem. You can still get great value from this book if you just craft the selection of patterns you personally enjoy.
If you are a crocheter and a Swiftie, Unofficial Taylor Swift Crochet might just be the thing for you! It's a great book to include on your holiday wish list.
Thank you Quarto Publishing Group and Lee Sartori for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
A lovely book for anyone with an interest in crochet...or indeed, Taylor Swift! Some beautiful projects are featured, many of which are gorgeous even to those of us who aren't necessarily huge 'Swifties'.
This is a beautiful book, illustrations are totally on point, and the designs are fabulous. In addition to offering 20 fantastic projects, with the required amount of handholding to talk us through these, the book also features a walkthrough of the basic techniques towards the end of the book (surely appreciated by those of us new to this craft). The 'lavender haze halter top' is an absolute must in my household!
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy
This was a wonderfully written and clear crochet book. I have been crocheting for years for context and have seen some bad patterns. I think these all fit the theme so nicely and were such cute ideas! I think the levels for the patterns were accurate and thought out and that the directions would be easily understood by crocheters on any level. So excited to make all of these!
I love crocheting and I am a huge fan of Taylor Swift and when I saw this on Netgalley, I just had to request it!
The book itself is divided into four chapters which all have different topics. Before the patterns start is a section with some information you need when you want to start crocheting. In the end of the book are all the different stitches you need for the projects. I liked that all the different stitches were explained with pictures and a description underneath them. It's great for beginners but I would recommend to watch along to some Videos explaining the single stitches if you never used a crochet hook before.
Some of the projects are inspired by her songs while other projects replicate things she wore, such as the iconic cardigan or the red scarf. I liked the variety of projects and that in the bottom right corner of every project was the skill level. There were four different skill levels and there are around the same amount of projects for the different skill levels. Most of the time I would agree with the skill levels that were chosen but I am not sure if a doll is a skill level 2. I would guess that a lot of Taylor fans who never really crocheted buy this book to try something new and could be discouraged when they try one of the "easier" projects and fail at it. Dolls are also for a lot of advanced crocheters complicated and the pattern would have been better as a level 3 or even 4. Another doll in the book is labeled as a skill level 3 which is a bit confusing. The other skill levels match the projects.
Half of the projects are wearables. Most of them are accessories and have different skill levels, that everyone can do some of them. I liked the diversity of the projects but I would have liked some more smaller projects because most of the projects are bigger or take a lot of time because of the details.
I already started the "Bejeweled headband" and the pattern is well written and easy to follow. I also like that the for the project used yarn is mentioned.
Overall I liked the book. It's very creative and the projects are diverse. The projects will be easier to understand for people who have at least some experience with crocheting.
Thank you to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Quarry for this EARC!
This one is sure to make the Swifties swoon! With all the go-to Taylor projects- sweaters for each era, the iconic hat from RED, and addition of the Taylor dolls to crochet. All with clear instructions and photos to help you along with your projects.
Such a fun crochet book!! I'm a crafter and I can't wait to make some of these as gifts for friends and family. The book was extremely well put-together and the directions seem easy to follow. I'm most grateful for the book being split into difficulty, that way you can work up to larger and more complicated projects.
Overall 5/5 stars, I'm now inspired to make myself a Red scarf!! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this e-ARC. <333
These projects are SO cute! I’m not personally the crocheter in the family, but the instructions were easy to follow and I can’t wait to have some made. I loved that a skill level was mentioned for every project and the little details like the friendship bracelets being used.
I’m a new crocheter and this book made me realize how much more I still have to learn - wow there are so many stitches, options for bordering etc. it also gave me the delusion as a new crocheter that I can totally do the sweater. And the ambition to want to try it! I loved how this book broke down with photos, step by step instructions and an intensive index that breaks down how to read patterns and examples on how to do stitches step by step. Highly recommend. Also super loved the up close photos so you can compare your work to the example stitch. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Some of the patterns are hard to follow and all the steps are not really clear, particularly for the diagrams.. more detailed steps on how to follow the graphgram patterns and square diagrams would be better. Some of the formatting of difficulty level is off and some of the pictures of the finished products appear unclear or photoshopped so might not resemble the actual projects
A really lovely book with some great patterns! I think a few of them were a little bit optimistic in their links to Taylor, but nonetheless - great patterns! I found the ones I tried easy to follow and the additional links were handy too!
Adorable book with fun and creative ideas for a variety of crochet ability levels. I am still a beginner at crochet so I was happy to see that not all of the projects were super intimidating. I am super excited to give some of them a try, especially the different blankets, journal cover, and headband.
I’d say some of these designs feel rather throwaway and a lot of work for vague Taylor connection, but there are some definite winners. I think this would be a great gift for a swiftie crocheter, however I don’t think it’s very suitable for beginners. There were some QR codes to scan, but most patters were full in the book. Links to videos would also be very useful. A simpler amigurumi wouldn’t have gone amiss. My favorite pattern is the Lavender Haze Top—I’ll definitely be making that!
