An interesting read for sure and certain. Similar details of our Covid-19.
I've not read a book quite like this before that's why I said interesting.
I finished this book in one evening because it was very good! I couldn't put it down.
Some things that took place during this story I wasn't too pleased with. It was the way people were treating a child that I didn't like.
I did love the meaning of family. Family is everything.
5 stars from me for keeping my interest all the way through. I highly recommend
My thanks for a copy of this book..I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
This was a wonderful story about prejudices, about finding love. Very enjoyable and heart lifting! No matter when you live and what events happen in life, there are always people who will shun those that are considered "outsiders". No matter our background, or ethnicity, we all need and want acceptance.
Historical fiction set in 1918, at the height of the “Spanish Flu” epidemic. Many of the details about the disease, and preventions used to curb its spread, were eerily familiar to the COVID-19 pandemic ones.
A young spinster, her widowed mother, and a little girl, orphaned due to the flu epidemic of 1918, come together and are determined to become a family. The villagers band together in protest, thinking wrongfully that the child was responsible for the spread of the disease. As a result, the elderly mother and her daughter take a stand against the prejudice and hostility of the townspeople, in order to give the young girl a better life, and love she craves.
