GOOD VICTORY-Mikka Jacobsen-Publishing on February 1st, 2025 by Freehand Books.
🔥This was a great debut short story collection.
Jacobsen writes about what it is like being human in the 21st century. In these stories, we find unsettling characters navigating familiar settings. Jacobsen explores the absurd thoughts we all think about as we navigate everyday life. Karaoke bars, teen pregnancy, lab rats on cocaine. Mall psychics in malls, and sex workers at the Calgary Stampede. What more do you want?
Great debut collection. Arriving February 1ST, 2025!
Thanks to @netgalley and @freehandbooks for the ARC.

I really enjoyed these short stories. They were the perfect length and I believe there’s a story in there for everyone. I would highly recommend this book!
Some very casual and interesting stories. A lot of them were less dramatic than I expected from the blurb, and I felt like it needed to be written a bit older because everyone read younger than they were meant to be. 4 stars. tysm for the arc.
I realised I’d been avoiding picking this up for a week. The writing leaves a fair amount to be desired but I convinced myself to give it another shot. When I did, I was distracted within seconds so I’ve decided to stop forcing it .
Thank you, Freehand Books, for the ARC.
The stories are quite short and are really accessible to get into. The writing is perfect for beginners and casual readers.
Most of the stories revolve around everyday life with very normal relatable characters.
The stories deal with day to day life’s wins and challenges.
Most characters are adults and young adults but somehow they read really younger than their age. But you will not take much time reading this collection.
Perfect for vacations and weekends escape!
