Considering that regency romance usually isn't my thing, this book more than pleasantly surprised me. I loved it! This couple's love for each other was breathtaking. For someone who has grieved too many, it was wonderful to read about people who work through grief in their own way yet together. After losing the love of my life, reading about Jasper finding love again even if fictional gives me hope.

I've been immersed in tales of dragons, magic, and pointy ears for quite some time, so I felt it was the right moment to explore something different. I'm so pleased that I made that choice. "A Lady Would Know Better" was an absolute joy to read. The characters were captivating, and the sibling dynamics were beautifully portrayed. Jane's journey of self-discovery, paired with her unyielding spirit that surfaced when it mattered most, resonated deeply with me. Additionally, the theme of women's rights, subtly threaded throughout the narrative, serves as an important reminder that remains relevant today. a fun pretty fast paced read with multiple POVs with amusing and interesting MCs. I really enjoyed the witty banter throughout and the sweet although a little predictable romance. this is definitely a book o would recommend to anyone who enjoys historical romance

4.5 stars rounded up. This book was full of excitement and intrigue and tension with the added stakes of the society standards and rules that come with historical romance.

Without saying too much about the intrigue surrounding Jane’s amnesia mystery so as not to give anything away, it was such a great element to lend additional tension to the already forbidden-by-the-times attraction between her and Jasper. Also along the lines of not saying too much, I do love a headstrong heroine who can save herself.

Jasper and his family had faced an extreme amount of loss and hardship in their pasts and were doing their best to muddle through. Jane brought a breath of fresh air into their home that impacted not only Jasper but his sisters as well. I loved the relationships she formed, especially with Viola.

With all the discourse around the historical romance genre lately, this book is a reminder of how great it is and how the naturally higher stakes of society make it that much more exciting to read.

My opinion:
Fairly fast-paced storyline with amusing and intriguing main characters that grow throughout the novel. The short chapters and multiple POVs make for easy reading. I love that the female main characters love reading. I always appreciate when personas enjoy books like I do. I delighted in the witty banter in this story. I appreciated the very little cursing in this novel. The romantic plot is predictable but cute and delightful. The rep of people grieving makes the novel more realistic and heartfelt. I enjoyed this novel and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys historical romance.

Super cute book but it did have major Bridgerton vibes. I could distinctly pick out which charter was based off the other but over all a cute light read.
I loved how each person is broken in different ways from the tragic event that happen over a year or maybe three yrs ago but also they seem to know what each other needs and become the need.

The story starts off with the siblings getting to gather and take a walk outside when a snow storm is blowing in to find a lady laying unconscious and bleeding in their path on their property. Jasper sends his sisters back to the house to prepare the house for her as she picks her up and carries her back home. However, as he starts to walk the women’s eyes flicker open for a brief moment to tell him “don’t let them get me” before she looses consciousness again.
When the mysterious women come a to later she no longer has memories or remembers her name. The Maycotts are worried about her giving how the society treats women in her predicament and the fact her accident is similarly close to someone else’s they knew.
So the Maycotts agree to allow her to stay as long as she needs to recover and remember who she is.
But, there is just one problem. They forgot that they were having guest and have to come up with a cover story for who “Jane” is while also helping her discover her memories.
All is going well until it’s not and then the big plot picks up…….

The only real complaint I have about the book was it seem to take forever in the build up to the plot but once the plot was reached ( around 70% ) the book really did pick up with new material and then I flew through the book!!

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and the story and it talking about women’s rights at that time. A lot of people probably don’t think about that.

General opinions: The initial plot was there, the character personality was there, and the opportunity for a memory restoration love story was there.

Before I expand upon my thoughts, this book wasn’t bad by any means and I did stick through the end. However I had a lot of opinions towards the main character and her development through the story. Firstly, I enjoyed the beginning of this book. At times it did feel like it was slowly moving along to only be a week times span in twenty chapters but I ignored that. There was tension and want but it was always interrupted and that was okay with me. My gripe comes over halfway through when she willing goes off with her family. The strength and determination of the character is built up in my mind was ruined because I personally only saw someone naive and desperate for knowledge no matter the danger she knows she’s in. It became annoying at point (which to that I know people wonder, why did I keep reading), however I was invested in other characters and if this story could steer us back to safety. Sadly, for me it did not and elements of the story like her dismissing things she heard like plotting behind her back, last minute steamy scenes, and surprise recovery of skills with perfect accuracy/timing (once you read it you’ll get it, I’m tiptoeing around things as to not spoil too much). In short, it felt like too much of a plot shift from the flow of the story I’d started off reading, and it altered my interest in the remainder of the story. I did enjoy the beginning, and overall feel this book had so much more it could’ve offered than the whirlwind ending.

I honestly couldn’t get into this book. Even though it’s set in a historical time, it felt way too modern in terms of writing style. It made it hard to really get lost in the setting. The romance between the main characters was pretty flat too. I couldn’t feel any chemistry between them, and the guy wasn’t nearly as brooding or intriguing as I’d hoped. He just didn’t have that “hero” vibe.

What I actually enjoyed more was Jane’s interactions with the hero’s sisters. Their relationship felt more natural and had some actual warmth to it, which was a nice change from the awkwardness between Jane and the male lead. But since I couldn’t connect with the main couple at all, I ended up DNF’ing the book. It just didn’t pull me in like I was hoping.

This is a fun historical romance. Jane has amnesia and the Maycott family are grief stricken. It starts as an enemies to lovers, then a near instalove. The ending has some adventures, and shows Jane as a daring heroine. All in all a fun read.

A delightful historical romance with an amnesia trope. After being thrown from her horse in a snowstorm, a woman is rescued by an Earl and brought to his manor. Upon awakening "Jane" has no memory of her life or who she is. The Earl and his family care for her injuries while trying to help prompt any memory to solve the mystery. Topics include grief, discovery, women's rights, love, and of course, witty banter. I received an ARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

This was the longest book ever. 😩

A year ago a family tragedy left Jasper with an earldom and five younger siblings to care for. He’d sworn off love, ghosted his friends and has been busy making himself miserable. While on a walk with his sisters, Jasper finds an unconscious woman in the snow. As it turns out, she has suffered a severe hit on the head and doesn’t remember who she is.

What I liked about this book was that Jasper had been in love before and that was the reason he was holding back. In a world of “safe books” I respect an author writing a hero who had loved and lost, and whose fiancée was a genuinely good person. It gave his character depth and it made him more relatable.

Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to enjoy this book. It started off well and initially I liked the writing, but then it went downhill.
My biggest complaint is that it was way too long. The constant push and pull between Jasper and “Jane” was repetitive, every single scene dragged and it took me forever to finish this book.

Another problem was lack of the historical accuracy. Everyone was on a first name basis with everyone, including ladies with gentlemen and earls with servants (?!). Gentlemen were visiting ladies in their bedchambers, gently bred ladies were calling an earl a “stern bastard” in a polite company etc. It all felt more like a corporate icebreaker team event than a romance set in Victorian England. I’m not sure if it was on purpose, to appeal to readers who never read a historical romance before, or if the author just hadn’t done her homework. In any case it didn’t work for me.

A wonderful Regency era Romance to add to the list.

This is a fast-paced story helped by multi-POVs. It has the feel of grumpy man in Jasper with the "I don't need a man" in Jane. Their dynamics are entertaining and engaging. Their romance is a slow burn but worth the wait.

I loved the writing and the style especially as it had all the features I love in Regency era lit. It kept me turning the pages and I loved how it ended.
