A thriller to keep you on the edge of your seat. The narration of Kate Handford was spell bounding. Once I started, I knew I'd not be sleeping much that night. Tori Hunter is one character you'd love to have on your side when needed. Her determination in face of so many bad memories was one of the qualities that kept me reading / listening through the night.
Absolutely fantastic book to listen to had me on edge wondering what was going to happen from start to finish
It's a must download you won't be disappointed get it now peeps
I found this book overall enjoyable, however felt it did drag in some areas. There was a good mix of tension, dread, and emotion throughout the book, and the twists were great.
A gripping thriller that will have you guessing from the first chapter.
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to listen to an advanced copy of this audiobook in return for a fair and honest review
Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture Audio and Roger Stelljes for the audio Arc of Silenced Girls ( Agent Tori Hunter Book 1 )
Narrated by Kate Handford
This will be my first book from Roger Stelljes and I do enjoy a good Police Protocol / Mystery Thriller. This book is engaging and descriptive in its content. I loved the character building from Roger in regards to the main characters , especially Tori Hunter. The characters felt real and well rounded. The pacing of the book varied between slow to medium and flowed really well. The last 3rd of the book as things come together, the pacing picked up and I wanted to know the pay off but didn't want it to end either! I will be looking out for more books from this author.
It's also the first time I have come across Kate Handford who narrated this book and she such a pleasure to listen to. Her voice brings a great book alive with the right amount of tension and emphasis. I did listen to this book on 1.5x speed which is a personal preference of mine.
4.25 stars around to 4 stars for Netgalley and other sites.
Can’t wait for books 2, 3 and more. Love the main protagonist, great character development. Paired with an enthralling plot and story line. Really enjoyed this audio. Excellent narration
Getting involved in yet *another* book series... this year has been the year of new (to me) series!
At times I felt this was a long one, but after completing this novel, the length was justified. There’s a lot to dive into with the character backstories and the dual story lines.
There’s tension. There’s dread. Just when you thought you figured it out, twist!
Audiobook was well done
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for an early audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Solid mystery. When I requested an ARC I didn't realize it was the first of seven books and my library only has one of them.
Excellent narration by Kate Handford.
I am new to Roger Stelljes but seeing a series I could definitely get into. Silenced Girls was a bit long winded or it would have gotten five stars. A lot of repetition could be eliminated and make the read more concise. I like Tori. Great character. I think the audio could have benefited from dual narrators.
FBI Agent Tori Hunter receives a newspaper article which brings back all the memories which were long buried after losing her twin sister 20 yrs ago!
Tori has felt guilty for her sister’s death, but soon realizes she was not the only one to go missing and losing her life, and now with another girl going missing she wants to work alongside with the local police and get justice for many victims and their family.
This was a very well paced book and I want to finish the rest of the books in this series - thanks to the author, Bookouture Audio & Netgalley for the arc audio copy of this book!
I thoroughly enjoyed this! The audio recording was well done and easy to listen to. The mystery wasn't too straightforward - kept you guessing and discovering with Tori. The history she has there was a nice backstory and I also liked what they did with the love interest. Very fun mystery and I'm looking forward to book #2!
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the advanced audio book.
I listened to the audiobook of this one and enjoyed. I thought the narrator did a great job bringing the characters to life. It was an interesting thriller, but I did think it dragged a little at times and could have been a little edited. I was pleased with the big twist and while I got there it wasn’t that far before the twist itself. Agent Tori Hunter is haunted by a case. It wasn’t hers, it happened when she was still in high school and her sister drove off after a 4th of July celebration and was never seen again. It’s been 20 years and a new case looks eerily like her sister’s disappearance and it seems the perp is determined Tori come to play. And Tori is determined they will solve this new case as well as the case of her sister. While Tori is an FBI agent this was more about local small time law enforcement investigating which I liked. There were also a couple of side cases which were also interesting. Overall I think this was a strong first book to a promising new series.
Tori Hunter is an FBI agent specializing in finding missing children. She got into that line of work stemming from a father in law enforcement and the disappearance of her identical twin when they were only 16. Her sister, who was the wild one to Tori’s quiet girl personality, went missing and now it's 20 years later, and still no answers. When Tori receives an anomousiously sent article about another girl that goes missing similarly to the way her sister did she decides to go back home and see if she can help. A help the law doesn't especially want. Meeting old friends and finding the clues to help her search for answers brings back some good and some painful memories.
The story is long, yes but the narrator, Kate Handford does a good job of keeping you interested. I have not read anything by Roger Stelljes before but will be interested in the books following this one. The perp wasn't obvious which I appreciate. The characters were likable and the love interest was well done not overdone. I recommend and will watch for more by this author. Thank you NetGalley and Bookarure audio for this audio in exchange for my honest opinion.
It is avery good start to a series and it is the first time to live the real accident with the detective it is been usual to talk about in brief but to start the book with it it's so good .
I can't wait to listen to the next book
Really good Audio listen with lots of twists and turns just what I enjoy in a thriller
I like Agent Tori Hunter and this is book 1 so I guess I will be following more of this series as I love a good detective story
Give this a listen you wont be disappointed
I listened to the audiobook of Silenced Girls by Roger Stelljes and could not stop listening to it, despite its 17 hour run time. The story was narrated perfectly by Kate Handford, who expertly demonstrated all the feeling, excitement, and frustration of our protagonist, Tori Hunter.
The story begins 20 years ago with the suspicious disappearance of Tori’s 17 year-old twin sister, who is never found. Having grown up as a small town sheriff's daughter, Tori is drawn to law enforcement and after college, she becomes an FBI agent in New York City who specializes in finding missing children (so no one has to suffer as she did without knowing what happened to a loved one). After receiving a mysterious letter on the 20th anniversary of her sister's disappearance, Tori travels back to Minnesota to help investigate another suspicious disappearance.
What I really appreciated about this story is that involves multiple suspects, each of whom are well thought out, and plausible. I also really enjoyed seeing Tori solve a few child abduction cases (and not just the murder of her sister and more recent victim), so as a reader/listener I got to see how Tori’s mind works. Finally, the book just didn’t end with the solving of the murders. Instead it ends three months later after Tori does some soul searching - and healing - to great satisfaction. It is one of the best endings to a thriller that I’ve read in quite awhile. I highly recommend this audiobook and look forward to listening to other books in this series. Bravo!
Silenced girls by Roger Stelljes
Tori Hunter FBI, has never forgotten the night her twin sister disappeared. It’s been 20 years but it was like it was yesterday and now all these years later, another girl has gone missing in the exact same way her sister did.
Tori has to go home and face the very thing she has been avoiding all this time and find the killer before it is too late.
Holy moly, it was a super interesting story with a solid pace and some fast paced moments (which I love) and it had some superb twists and turns!
It did get a touch predictable and there were some dead spots but all in all what a cracker jack start to a series. I love Tori! I am excited for the next book!
4 stars

Silenced Girls was my first book from this author and I enjoyed it.
One complaint that I have is that the book is a little long - the audio is 17 hours. Halfway through the book, our main character leaves and works on a completely unrelated case. I’m not sure what the point of that was and wish it had been removed because that would shorten the book length.
Tori’s connection to the serial killer is what made this book interesting. She’s clearly still dealing with the issues from her sister disappearing and I enjoyed seeing her struggle and determination to figure out the case.
There is a romantic aspect to this storyline, which I always love, but what I loved even more was that it didn’t take away from the story.
Silenced Girls by Roger Stelljes is an intriguing mystery with a compelling premise, but it could have benefitted from a tighter, more focused narrative. As part of the Tori Hunter series, the story would have been far stronger if it had stuck primarily to her perspective (and perhaps the killer’s), cutting out some of the unnecessary secondary viewpoints that can make the pacing feel sluggish. While I enjoyed the suspense and was genuinely surprised by the identity of the killer, there were moments when the plot dragged so much that I found myself zoning out.
I had the chance to listen to the advanced audiobook, and I highly recommend speeding it up to at least 1.75x. The narrator speaks quite slowly, and given the book's length, you’ll save yourself a lot of time and still be able to follow along without losing anything in terms of the experience.
In the end, Silenced Girls is a solid read with a lot of potential, but it’s one you’ll need to be prepared to dedicate a good amount of time to. While I might consider picking up another Tori Hunter book, it will probably be when I’m in the mood for a longer, more immersive story.
