Full Measure by T. Jefferson Parker is a stand-alone mystery novel that tells the story of Patrick Norris, a soldier who just wants a quiet live but finds his peaceful existence shattered by his trouble attracting brother Ted. Full Measures is the first T. Jefferson Parker book I have read. However, he is a well known, Edgar award winning author so I expected him to know how to built a well written interesting novel. At 276 pages Parker didn't give himself a lot of room to play with but he managed to pack a lot in and weaved a story full on genuine emotion and interest. Full Measure is well written with multi-layered characters who are not always likeable but are easy to root for. This book is more about family dynamics and less of a crime thriller which fans of parker might not expect but I hope they pick this book up anyway because Full measure is worth a read.

I had a hard time finishing this book. The story did not seem to hold together. I really prefer Parker's older novels. This felt a bit too political.
