OHHHHHHHHHHHHH I loved Dex & Lennox so much !!! If you thought Avery & Finn was something from Camera Shy, then you need to go ahead and read this book!!!! Book 2 in the Lessons in Love series & it did not disappoint 1 bit.

This was a fun spicy book that still managed to grab you in the feels. Lennox is a fiery, take no prisoners, personality and a half. Dex was a more complex character but the love they had for each other is one for the ages.

Happy release day!!

I really enjoyed this book! It was the perfect book to get me out of a slump. It had the perfect pacing, the perfect characters, a fun storyline, and it kept me interested throughout.

Both of the main characters definitely went through quite the journey and so many of their own hardships but I was so glad to see how they always could rely on each other even when it would have been easy to distance themselves.

I loved hearing more about Dottie and I feel like she still had so many secrets to uncover. I also wanted to learn more about Jacob. Their connection seemed so special and I loved reading about it through the letters.

I love how this story had a few different plot points but they all intertwined perfectly to make one cohesive story with some anticipation.

Also, I may be biased because I am a scuba diver but it was so fun to see scuba diving talked about throughout this book and that’s something that I never really see.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and if you have ever been a fan of billionaire or marriage of convenience romances, I think you should pick this one up.

p.s. while this is a part of a series, I think you could read this one without reading Camera Shy and it would still make sense and not spoil too much ( I definitely recommend Camera Shy too though).

Tropes:
- marriage of convenience
- billionaire
- secret identity
- friends to lovers
- dual pov
- first person

I dived into Lennox and Dex’s story knowing the sparks would fly. While we knew some about Lennox from the first book in the series, Dex was pretty much a mystery and wow what a story he had. You have everything in this book from their romantic journey from being friends to lovers. The characters are realistic and along with their stories. Kay Cove is quickly becoming a favorite author.

This was the first book I've read by Kay Cove. She is an excellent author! Immediately after finishing this book, I was looking up more books written by her. I absolutely loved this best friends to lovers romance. I do not typically like when an author goes back and forth in time, giving us flashbacks, but this was written perfectly. Dottie, the grandmother, won my heart over. I loved her character. And Dex and Lennox were perfection together. I was completely invested in their story. This was an excellent read that I didn'twant to put down! I'll definitely read more by this author.

I wouldn’t say this book is for me, but the writing and storyline was great. I really don’t know why I didn’t enjoy this as much as I wanted to. I think it’s just one of those “it’s a good book, just not for me”

This book is such a fun follow-up to Camera Shy. The moment we met Lennox in the previous book I was really hoping that she would have her own story and author Kay Cove made it a good one!

Dex and Lennox have been best friends for 3 years while secretly harboring romantic feelings for one another. Things happen and circumstances bring on one of my favorite tropes, marriage of convenience! More tropes include friends to lovers, secret billionaire, one bed and found family.

I really loved the whole storyline with Dottie, Dex’s grandmother and her past. I thought getting a glimpse into her POV was beautiful and sad but I love the way it connected to Dex and Lennox’s story.

Dex is the perfect book boyfriend and I loved his love for Lennox. It was really sweet. And we all love a good “my wife” line.

Thanks to Netgalley and Kay Cove for the ARC!

This is the first book I've read by this author and it is book 2 in a series. I will now have to go back to read book 1 in the series, because I enjoyed this one. I liked that the author alternated a few times between past and present to bring more understanding and depth to the characters in the book. Dex was my favorite of the two MCs. To me, Lennox (the FMC) started all sassy and fiery ,but switched personalities as the book progressed. I did enjoy the banter between the two of them and wished there was more.
Dex's POV after he cooks for Lennox for the first time stood out: "Cooking for someone is intimate?" she asks after chewing and swallowing. "Oh yeah," I say "Even more so than sex. If I caught another man in your bed, I'd ruin his life. But if I caught another man cooking for you, the police would have to scavenger hunt for body parts." :D
I felt that the main characters' transition from friends to lovers (fake marriage aside) went from zero to 100 in a rush, but it was still a good take on that particular trope. They were both having feelings over the years that they never explored, and their chemistry exploded very quickly. If you are squeamish with spicy scenes, this book is not for you, because the spice was spicing in this book. My only complaint is that I was about 75% into the book before I saw some of what the blurb covered, so that made the pace of the book seem to lag (The blurb probably said too much and my anticipation level was high). There was no "third act break-up", which was a plus. Overall this was a good read, maybe not too realistic in parts, but still enjoyable.

The following are my actual thoughts on the book. This is not what I reviewed publicly out of respect for the author.

I loved Dottie's letters and story, and Spencer's tid bits the most. I was really hoping for the spunky Lennox from Camera Shy to bring her A-game and show us what a boss babe a creative can be in the corporate world. But the opposite happened. By the end of the story, I simply just felt bad for her.

I was genuinely excited for Lennox's story, but this story ended up feeling more like Dottie and maybe even Dex's story, and more of a family drama than a romance.
I feel like Lennox (and the author) lost her voice in this, She's not the same person who we saw in Camera Shy and in fact there's not really any similarities between the first and second book in the Lessons in Love Trilogy. Dex's character was inconsistent too.

The story doesn't really start until 50%, and honestly, I feel like the first part of the book and the second part of the book don't flow the way they should. The pacing was kind of wonky and didn't make you want to sit down and read this, paired with the dual timeline it just made it really hard to get into. Character and plot development is usually Kay's strong suit, and this all fell flat in Snapshot. Where'd the plot go? The device to use the inheritance to bring them together was relieved after one blunder. If it was that easy, why bother.

I saw that this was the authors first hybrid release, and I see the authors voice, which has always remained consistent from her first novel through Camera Shy, was lost. Maybe in favor of what the publisher/editor wanted, I'm not sure, but I do know that it let this story down.

Overall, if you're looking for a high and tight follow-up to Camera Shy, this isn't it. It would have been better off marketed as a stand-alone, not at all involved in the Las Vegas, Lessons in Love Family.

The following is what I left on public forums
I loved Dottie's letters and story, and Spencer's tid bits the most. Also, the Uber driver who swindled all the phones was hilarious! K putting in the bit about the sharks and scuba diving was great because she's said in the past that she is scuba certified and is indeed afraid of sharks. Which, hey, me too.

Rounded up out of ❤️‍🩹 for the author.

Snapshot is an amazing story of a marriage of convenience between two friends. Due to a series of unfortunate events, Lennox has found herself in financial hardship and possibly being unhoused. Dex, on the other hand is very wealthy. He, however, is also facing a hardship. Dex is forced to take a step back from work and focus on himself and the world around him. After Lennox finds herself out of a relationship, a place to stay, and still job to job; Dex proposes a mutually beneficial option. His grandma has left the family company to his wife, the kicker... he isn't married. If Lennox will marry him for the year, then he can make sure she is taken care of and gets a fresh start.

Dex and Lennox are friends and have been for years, and while they are attracted to each other, he has never attempted to be more with her. The plan is simple, get married for a year, and then get divorced. No harm, no foul... only the chemistry between these two is off the charts, and Lennox finds herself invested in taking care of the company, the staff, and ensuring things don't go off the rails. All of this has Dex taking more notice and he isn't afraid to throw a solid "my wife" around for good measure.

A spice romance. Dex is living in Las Vegas and becomes friends with Lennox. Lennox is a mess. She cannot hold on to a job and is always in one fix or another. Dex is the heir to a billion dollar company but no one in Las Vegas knows. His grandmother's will lets the company to his wife. Problem is he does not have a wife. What to do?
Dex and Lennox have both been fighting feelings for each other. What will happen if they marry and she now is CEO of his company? Is she in it for the money or do they have real feelings for each other?
This book starts as a marriage of convenience. Will it become the real thing? You will have to read this book to find out.

Thank you to #NetGalley, @authorkaykove and the publisher for a copy of this book.

I love the cover which is what drew me to this book! I’d definitely recommend this book. I was surprised to find out it was a series. The characters was well developed. I loved it when Dex called her his wife. I loved the fact granddaughter still had love for her past love. Was glad Lennox was able to help the company. Great read!

For me, this one topped Camera Shy. I absolutely adored Dex and loved Lennox. Give me a sassy FMC and a cinnamon roll MMC any day. It's sexy, funny, full of heart and emotions. Best part, no third act breakup. To me that trope is overplayed and I love the way the author chose to have these characters work together to overcome obstacles. It was a refreshing aspect of a hard earned romance.

Sometimes you find a new romance author you connect with immediately. Her characters and their development. The story that she tells. Everything you are looking for in a romance is there.

This story is told from several POV’s so we get a well-rounded story that includes a billionaire, family requirements and secrets, and even a splash of mystery.

Best friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and Cove knocked it out of the park. The characters are awesome together and Dex is so patient and kind even when she makes huge mistakes that could take them down.

I Love Love Love that there is no 3rd act breakup. I seriously HATE when authors use that. Love is about working together, not chasing someone. Cove gets that all over this story!

The family ties and requirements are woven throughout the book and get dicey at a time or two. Dex has a wonderful soul and that is represented in the best ways in Snapshot.

I have so much love for this one. These two are perfect together – A little spice. A little sass. And a whole lot of relationship goals. I cannot wait for more from this author!

I love how richly all the characters are described. All the twists and turns kept me hooked and I couldn’t put this book down! I love the intergenerational pieces fit together. I love love love Dex and Lennox and their growth as people. Anything Kay Cove writes, I want to read!

A huge thanks to NetGalley and Victory Editing for providing this ARC in exchange for my review.

Lennox - typical girl next door, working low paid bum jobs but gorgeous and funny

Dex - living a double life surf shop owner vs actual billionaire and nearly newly appointed CEO of a cruise ship company

But there's a clause, Dex must find a wife and be with them for 12 month in a contract to be eligible as CEO.

A drunken night ensues and Dex asks Lennox to fulfill the position of his wife, both having had 3 years of hidden longing for each other.

If you love

After almost hooking up at a house party three years ago, Lennox and Dex have been firmly in the friend zone.

But when his grandmother leaves the billion-dollar family business to Dex’s (non-existent) wife, Lennox agrees to step in. One Las Vegas wedding later and three years’ worth of desire and attraction come pouring out.

As Lennox relocates to Miami and settles into her new roles of CEO and wife, every decision she makes seems to end in disaster.

Now the company is in trouble and the board are pushing for Lennox’s removal. With his family legacy at risk, Dex has some difficult decisions to make.

🌼

I’m a big fan of the marriage of convenience trope and loved how Lennox and Dex’s relationship shifted from friends to lovers. The added layer of family secrets being unearthed kept me guessing as all of the pieces of the puzzle began to come together.

4.5 ⭐️ - highly recommended
