Spicy, male female, 1st person dual point of view, contemporary romance. Lots of sadness and lots of love. This book was an emotional roller coaster. The short epilogue seems to have upset a lot of people, but I didnt mind it. It was a quick way to show they lived a long happy life together.

Wow just wow wow wow I’m as already crying page 4 crying midway crying 2/3 way ahh but also I felt such JOY for these characters- the way she intertwined grief with love and pain and joy is amazing. And working through it all unfolding in a very real way, I just loved this book so much (clearly) and I have loved everything by Jennifer. Can’t wait to shout about it (4.5 stars)

3.5/5 I love me a good, complicated romance, but the MMC Parker is just absolutely insufferable at times. The start of this relationship was just way too unhealthy, way too codependent. The ending was enjoyable, however I wish there were more to that part of the story, and I absolutely loved the epilogue, which is set much later in life. Jennifer Hartmann’s writing is well done and fluent; I always enjoy it!

I requested this book because I have loved most of the Jennifer Hartmann books I’ve read. Unfortunately, I could not get into this one. Parker was one giant red flag and I found myself yelling (in my head) at Melody that this guy is treating her like garbage. Did not believe in this love story.

I have been seeing this author all over my For You Page on TikTok and I’m as I haven’t started in her catalog sooner. Such a great story and I can’t wait to read more.

This story brought so many tears to my eyes while reading. I don't know how Jennifer does it, but she just wrecks you in the best ways. It's such an impactful read that will stay with you and one that you'll find yourself wanting to re-read again.

4.5⭐️

Melody loses her husband in a tragic accident and then finds herself falling for the man who received his heart via transplant.

You know that when you’re reading a story and your jaw literally drops, it’s going to be a good one. Parker’s character was so multi-layered and Melody’s patience and understanding with him was honestly angelic. His character takes a while to grow, but the pacing of it felt very realistic. I love that he was so opposite from her husband, Charlie. She needed both of them in different parts of her life as things changed for her! I also fell in love with the side characters in this story I.E. Amelia, Bree, and Owen.

A real tearjerker - as all Jennifer Hartmann books are!

I first read The Wrong Heart in 2021 as an indie published book. Below is my review that I had posted.
The Wrong Heart has stood the test of time. It is just as emotional and touching as it was the first time I read it. I am so thrilled that it will be traditionally published so that more readers will be able to experience the beautifully written story of Parker and Melody. Happy reading!

"All broken things can be fixed. The hard part is deciding that they're worth fixing."

Wow! Just wow! A complicated, beautiful love story.
Jennifer Hartmann is a new-to-me author and I am so glad I took a chance on her! Chapter one starts out emotional, intense and raw. I was consumed! The story flows and flows. There are several twists that had my jaw dropping.

"You don't look like you belong here." "I don't?" "No.
You remind me of sunshine... it's too cold for you here."

I wish I had the words to adequately describe my love for The Wrong Heart. Melody is a force to be reckoned with! Her heart is pure and beautiful. Her smile is everything. Her perception and patience is never-ending. And Parker, my sweet Parker! A bully. So raw. So dark. Their journey will have you turning the pages faster to see where it will end!

"People smile too much. I never understood it. Smiles should be saved for things that bring us real joy, and we give them away so easily, so carelessly. To strangers on the street—to people we don't even like."

I can't wait for more from Jennifer Hartmann!

This was such a great story to end 2024! I know Jennifer Hartmann will always deliver, but wow I was not expecting all of that!

I loved the angst that came with this story. Melody and Parker are meant for each other, even if it didn’t seem like a good fit at first. Each character had so much depth and were actively working to overcome some dark moments of their past but it was also so heartwarming and sweet at times.

I need to give both these main characters hugs.

The Wrong Heart is a deeply moving novel about two broken people, one of them has loved and lost and the other one has never learned to love at all. The beginning of the book is written really well and it was so heartbreaking to read. However, I thought that the book was a bit too long and lost its strong hold over me at times. A beautiful story with beautifully complex characters - and a couple of wonderfully surprising plot twists! - but something was missing.

And then there's the epilogue. I have to say that that was the final straw for a three-star rating, not four. While I can understand the author's reasons for finishing the book like that I personally felt it was unnecessary.

However, the cover is absolutely gorgeous!

This book was amazing. It brings up grief, shiver and abuse so trigger warning. I can feel the emotions of the characters. I did not want to put this thing down. Thank you for this beautiful book. Thanks to Jennifer Hartman, NetGalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for my honest review.

@author.jenniferhartmann has become one of my favorite authors! Her books are tragically beautiful and heartfelt. Right off the bat this book had me tearing up. After Melody's husband passes she contacts the recipient of his heart.

I fell in love with all of the characters. Parker's development was 🤌🏻 I really enjoyed the dual POV. I was immersed in this story. Some parts were gut wrenching but so worth it. I absolutely recommend if you're looking for an emotional read!

Thank you Jennifer, @read_bloom , and @netgalley for the gifted ebook.

I swear if Jennifer Hartman writes it, I will read it. She brings romance, drama, tension, banter, amazing plot lines, but she still gets in that spice that everybody wants. This story I think broke my heart a little bit more because my husband has issues that he is not an overly sexual person or touchy-feely kind of person. PDA is not his thing so I related to this book a lot more than I do most of her other ones.

This book was an incredibly heartfelt journey! The ending had me incredibly emotional. These were two incredibly complex characters that Jennifer crafted. Definitely check your trigger warnings before starting this book!

I've had my eye on this author's books for ages, but I confess I'd never come across this one before I found it here, on NetGalley. This book really deserved a new image because in terms of content it's already at the top of its game, now it just has a cover to match it. A very heavy read, but in the best possible sense, emotional and impactful, not easy at times. The author plays so well with emotions that even knowing in advance the moment that opens this story, the death of Melody's (FMC) husband mentioned in the synopsis, I was completely overwhelmed by sadness. I tried to prepare myself, but I wasn't at all ready to feel it so intensely. This event is not just referred to as something from the past, but experienced by the character, making the reader have to experience it too. We feel everything with Melody, which makes it easy to bond with the character; it's impossible to remain indifferent. And how I loved this character and her evolution. I suffered, cried and laughed, healed and overcame with her! With Parker, the process wasn't so "insta-love", so to speak. It ended up being more gradual, I liked him more and more as he revealed himself, as he showed another side beyond the stone barrier, as he connected with Melody and the world. Melody and Parker as a couple make so much sense when all the pieces come together, the evolution of their relationship was so atypical, but also natural and enjoyable even with all the angst involved. This is a true character driven book but one with a perfect touch of something beyond that, with some amazing plot twists that caught me completely off guard and cemented this as one of my favorite reads of 2024!
A perfect ending to a perfect read, the best “happily ever after” and the way its importance is amplified considering how it all began. A story that will always stay with me, complex and well-developed characters, captivating writing that makes you immerse yourself in this read and experience all the emotions in such a vivid way that you feel part of the story of these two!

✨BOOK REVIEW✨

The Wrong Heart by Jennifer Hartmann

This is my fifth book by JH and unfortunately I couldn’t quite connect with this one like I have her others. This one is being re-released by Bloom Books, pub date is tomorrow!

Quick synopsis: “When my husband died, he left my broken heart behind. He left another heart behind, too—his. I know it’s wrong. I shouldn’t be contacting the recipient of my husband’s heart. I don’t even expect him to reply...
But there’s a desperate, twisted part of me that hopes he will.
No names. No personal details. Just a conversation. The only thing I have left of my husband is inside him.”

This was a very emotional read and dealt with a lot of heavy themes that somewhat turned me off after a while. With JH’s older titles, I find myself skimming through the extra cheesy sections. I can only read about so many sun and moon metaphors without rolling my eyes. It just takes me out of the story & I’ve noticed her newer titles have way less, thank goodness. Melody seems entirely too sweet and nice (I take my FMC’s with sass and a side of snark please), while Parker was just a jerk for majority of the book.

Read if you’re looking for:
🩷 a lot of dark themes
🩷 grumpy/sunshine
🩷 a slow burn
🩷 grief
🩷 an emotional read

Also, I’d skip the epilogue 😉

Thank you to @read_bloom & @netgalley for allowing me to be an early reader - all thoughts were my own! Publishes tomorrow!!

💖Parker & Melody💖

This is my first @author.jenniferhartmann book… saw it on @netgalley and applied because I’ve heard good things and wanted to buddy read it with @jpreadss …

Yallllllll. I was NOT ready!!! Jennifer Hartmann is a mean mean lady 😂.

First off, it’s very rare that I cry, let alone, SOB like a little baby when I’m reading!!!

I was broken, then broken some more. Then kind of put back together then nope…destroyed again!!! And if that wasn’t enough she keeps throwing twists at you and has you questioning your sanity. Then you get to the end and you’re like, okay, that was a wild ride! Then you read the epilogue and WTF ?! Epilogues aren’t supposed to make you cry!!!
When it’s finally over, just as with a rollercoaster, I’m ready to do it all over again!

❓Whats the next book I should read by her?
✨NOT Still Beating… I don’t think I could handle that one.

Overall, my thoughts were that I loved her writing style!!! She writes amazing sex scenes. The chemistry and the intimacy was radiating off the pages. The depth the characters have was having me feel some type of way throughout. Especially with all the powerful quotes. The growth that Parker showed was tremendous and done so perfectly. I wish I couldve jumped in the book just to hug him though! Even Melody’s growth was admirable. The found family with this was so moving. The way they all helped each other and didn’t give up on Parker really made me stop and think of the quote “be kind, you never know what someone is going through!” Oh, and the mental health /suicide aspects were handled with such grace. As someone who struggles with mental health I felt this book very accurately depicts the different ways you could feel lost/depressed/suicidal. I appreciated that so much.

Thank you to @netgalley & @author.jenniferhartmann for this copy🫶🏻 I highly recommend!

▪︎ Thank you for allowing me to read an ARC of this beautiful story in exchange for an honest review.

The blurb intrigued me from the get go and it didn't sound like my typical read, so I was excited to dive in.

This is a beautiful story of lost souls trying to keep their head above water. The characters face dark demonds that break your heart. The characters development is creative, accurate and painfully wholesome.

This was a good book. It was interesting, and had a storyline I hadn't read before.

With that said, it felt long. Too long. I was almost bored at points, and that really took me out of the story along the way.

Melody and Parker were both tortured souls, who found each other in a surprising place. I'm glad they could heal themselves, together.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
