This is the third book I’ve read by Jennifer Hartmann. I really enjoyed reading Still Beating and was excited to read this book. Unfortunately, this book was not for me. The mmc was very unlikable and rude. This man needs therapy. I thought the main love interest was going to be Shane, and I was very disappointed when I found out it wasn’t him. As the story went on, I found myself growing increasingly disinterested in the fmc. She constantly allowed the mmc to mistreat her and it was clear that she deserved better.

Overview
The story follows a grieving widow whose world shatters when her husband dies unexpectedly. In the midst of her despair, she reaches out to the recipient of her husband’s donated heart, seeking solace and meaning. Along the way, she meets Parker—a brooding, emotionally detached man who is her opposite in every way. Despite their differences, their connection grows, unearthing secrets and challenging everything she thought she knew about love and healing. This deeply emotional journey explores themes of grief, resilience, and the transformative power of love.
My Thoughts
The Wrong Heart is an unforgettable story that left an indelible mark on my heart. Jennifer Hartmann’s writing is raw, poignant, and beautifully lyrical. The chemistry between Melody and Parker is nothing short of mesmerizing; their unsaid bond strikes a delicate balance between pain and hope. Melody’s warmth and resilience, juxtaposed with Parker’s dark, brooding nature, create a compelling grumpy-sunshine dynamic that stole my heart.
The twists in this story blew my mind—I guarantee no one will see them coming. They left me shocked and unable to put the book down. The spicy scenes are intense and beautifully layered with the emotional depth of their connection. I loved how their story unfolded with secrets that both broke my heart and mended it.
The epilogue brought me to tears, offering both closure and an emotional punch that stayed with me long after I closed the book. Hartmann masterfully captures the complexities of grief and the beauty of finding love in the most unexpected places. This story isn’t just a romance—it’s a testament to the human spirit's ability to endure and heal.
The Wrong Heart is a masterpiece of contemporary romance. It’s one of the most intense and heartfelt love stories I’ve ever read, and I cannot recommend it enough. A must-read for anyone who appreciates deeply emotional, redemptive romance.

⭐️⭐️⭐️
Unfortunately this JH book was just not for me.
I could not connect with the characters and the scenes just felt so long and drawn out without much actually happening to keep me interested.
The first 40% of the book was just entirely too slow.
The inexperienced MMC did not do it for me.
Thank you Jennifer & Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I have been recommended books by this author for a while now, and I am so glad I took the plunge! Be sure to check out the trigger warnings for this book before reading!
Melody's story is captivating! She loses her husband, and finds the man who got his donated heart. This is not a fluffy, happy romance. This book will pull at your heartstrings and make you feel all the emotions. I really enjoyed this book and could not put it down! I highly recommend for any reader!

The Wrong Heart is my first Jennifer Hartmann book. I'd been told by friends that it is not your typical fluffy, heart warming romance. It's heartfelt and honestly kind of heavy- but in the best way.
After losing her husband in their anniversary, Melody spirals into the darkness of depression and attempts to take her life. Parker is going through life just trying to get through day by day. He has lived through some of the worst things life can deal you. Both end up in the same suicide prevention support group. He can't stand her. She's the physical embodiment of sunshine and it grates on him. He is dark, broody, and sharp tongued. But she's drawn to him.
Trying to make it through the dark days, Melody reaches out to the person who received her husband's heart, trying for any connection to her deceased husband. He replies and becomes a lifeline for Melody. Until everything comes crashing down around her.
This book weighed on my heart. It took me longer to finish than I typically would read a book. I had to keep pausing and giving myself the space to process. Having gone through my own darkness, I really felt for both Melody and Parker but I needed to take care of me as well.
Take care of yourself while reading this book. Trigger warnings for self harm, suicide ideation, suicide attempts, suicide, and child abuse.

This is a heavy read with themes such as loss of a loved one and suicide.
Hartman has a way of ripping your heart out and slowly putting it back together. This book is no different. It is a republication, it first published in 2021.

Thank you netgalley and bloom books for the opportunity to read this book.
It publishes on December 31st!

OOF. Where do I start with this book? It was devastatingly beautiful. I BAWLED my eyes out reading this and I also had several 'kick my feet' moments. Jennifer has such a way with her storytelling that really hits you in the gut, but will also bring you out into a high.
Melody's husband dies tragically, and his heart is given to someone she doesn't expect. Through a suicide support group, she meets Parker who is mysterious and broody. Slowly and surely, they fall in love..but at what cost? There are some secrets that come to life which tear them apart before they even have much of a chance.
Jennifer is the queen of super emotional and angsty books, and this one was no different. I want everyone to read this!!

I know I can rely on Hartman to deliver an extremely emotional romance full of angst and that’s exactly what she brought to the table with The Wrong Heart. While there were aspects of this I loved (Um, hello to that first chapter?), I didn’t love it nearly as much as some of her other books. Incredibly strong start and the middle kept me invested, but the last quarter lost me a bit. Definitely a me issue, as it’s tropes I don’t typically like. But this was full of drama, tears, angst, and grief and I spent a good amount of this book with my mouth hanging open. So entertaining and it did make me cry. Overall, recommend for fans of the rom-traum genre.

I haven’t read anything by Jennifer Hartman that ever falls below 5 stars. She has a way of bringing out every emotion in her stories.
The wrong heart Is A beautiful and tragic story about the cycles of grief, and healing. Two characters Melody, and Parker going through different trauma, and loss while trying to navigate through life. While Melody was given a second chance at life after her attempt at her own, she is prompt to heal. Parker chooses to remain in the dark, and keeping people at a distance. Two polar opposites who lock eyes in a support group, that alters the course of both their lives.
“But I’m the sun, and he’s the sky, and I don’t know how to exist without him. What happens to the sun when the sky falls?”

This book really put my heart through the wringer (as do most of Jennifer’s books). I was ugly sobbing within the FIRST CHAPTER Y’ALL.
This story is so beautifully written. The strength and hope both Melody and Parker find in each other is inspiring. And I can honestly say that Parker very quickly became one of my favorite male fictional characters..
As an added bonus to all the emotional damage, you get a grumpy x sunshine trope which tbh, is one of my favs.
Truly a beautiful and inspiring book! Thank you to NetGalley and Bloom Books for the ARC :)

I just got my heart broken and put back together with this one 💔 it really hit me hard. So emotional and beautifully written.
This book captivated me from the start. It started off with the utmost heartbreak, and the emotions just kept coming from that point forward.
Melody and Parker - the polar opposites, but the pain they bared connected them. Melody being Parker’s starting point was beautiful 🥹
The healing they did together was emotional and beautiful.
Walden 🩵 Such a beautiful addition to the story, in his honor 🌹
Normally I finish a book in one to two days, but this one took five. I was just so amazing, and beautifully written, I had to take brakes. It drew me in from the first page, and I have never felt so emotional during a book ever. I felt like I lived through the characters, and their pain was my pain. And when the hope finally shone through and the pain was lifted, I was left with a little hope for my own future 🥹💜
Maybe there are hope for someone like me after all🖤
The epilogue was beautifully written. I loved how we got to follow them to the end, and see the amazing life they created 🩷

Jennifer Hartmann strikes again…! This is a MUST READ!
I absolutely love her writing style and this book was a constant build up of tension, angst and it was so devastatingly perfect. I love a dual perspective, so learning from Parker and Melody was the best.

The Wrong Heart was a heartbreakingly beautiful book. It pulled my emotions in all different directions.
Melody and Parker meet at a suicide prevention group. They are both going through extremely difficult times in their lives. Through their heartache and grief, they both learn how to love again.
This book is heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. It’s an amazingly beautiful book. I highly recommend it!

This book is dripping with emotions. It contains many triggers for some readers, suicide being one of them. Throughout the book, I kept thinking that I would never want one of my daughters to be involved with a guy like Parker. Lastly, the epilogue will rip your heart out and give you an ugly cry.

Not my favorite Jennifer Hartmann book. It was still a decent read but didn’t keep me as engaged as others.

This story is an unforgettable journey through love, loss, and healing. Melody’s world collapses after her husband’s sudden death, leaving her grappling with grief and guilt. Her connection to his heart recipient and a support group introduces her to Parker, a man whose emotional walls mirror her own shattered heart. Their relationship is a poignant blend of pain and hope, beautifully capturing the struggles of moving forward while honoring the past. Hartmann’s storytelling is raw and evocative, with twists that kept me hooked. The emotional depth and character growth are phenomenal, making this book a tearjerker in the best way. It is a must-read for those seeking a powerful and deeply moving love story.

An angsty contemporary romance that deals with heavy themes, this was amazing I'm a huge fan of this author, the character development was fantastic, this had a gripping pacy plot I enjoyed every moment, I'm actually sad its over haha!

Absolutely loved this book! The pace was perfect, the story was perfect. That's Netahlley and to the publisher for the ARC.

Jennifer Hartmann knows how to write an angst-filled love story. The Wrong Heart is a contemporary romance that deals with loss of a loved one and self-harm so please check trigger warnings. With that aside, deep down is a love story that pulls our main character from grief to happiness with all the emotions in between. I loved this story and J.H. will continue to be a favorite author.
Thank you @Sourcebooks @BloomBooks and @Netgalley for this ARC. This release is due to be published on December 31, 2024.
