Unfortunately this book wasn’t for me. It was very confusing to me. I had to DNF at 70%. I wish it was a bit cleaner with the plot.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for this arc!!
What a good book! I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I loved the main characters! They had great chemistry and worked so well together. I loved how the book just flowed. My first by this author but will not be my last!!!
The whole series was a nice read which followed on in a series of books. I read one after the other and bought them as a bundle. I would have preferred less books but they were gripping enough to want to follow on. The reason I have given 3.5 stars is that they were a nice read but just that. Not to much angst, the sex and tying up did get a little boring towards the middle/end of the series and I did find myself skimming towards the end. As I say there were a little too many books in the series to become interested but as they were all one story and about one couple I felt I needed to read them all to complete the story. Would I recommend...probably not. There is far too many better books out there and this takes a week of reading. Had it been in 3 books my recommendation would have differed. As I say still a good story, great characters but far too long a series!
This was very spicy and I was there for it. It's been ages since I read one of these!
Many thanks to Net Galley and Dreamscape Select for an audio ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I've listened to the audiobook.
This was very surprising, I didn't know what I was getting myself into. This is very spicy and very well paced. Perfect for the lovers of spice and Dom/sub dynamic.
This book was SPICY! I loved the back and forth between Monica and Jonathan and the back story of Monica's friends. I dont love too much spice, this one had quite a bit but I still really liked it!
I would definitely consider reading book #2.
4 stars!
Thank you Netgalley for the advanced reader copy

This was subpar for me. Not amazing but not bad. I just wasn't feeling the "I will never be able to love you because I can't move on from my ex" trope. It is just a smidge too much and I just finished a previous book with it.
Sorry :(
I just finished listening to this amazing audio book by C.D. Reiss. It was such a fantastic experience! I'm definitely looking forward to diving into more of her books.
One Night With Him - Submission (Book 1 of Submission Series) by CD Reiss
Narrated by Jo Raylan
A Spicy and seductive story of a strong woman who falls for a man who is everything she thinks she doesn't want, but is powerless to resist, however, this songbird is a siren in disguise that puts him under her spell.
In a job Monica hates to make ends meet while desperately trying to get her music career to take off, she finds herself fired after a mishap serving the owner Jonathan. He's a gorgeous, powerful millionaire playboy known for breaking hearts through word of mouth. Jonathan requests a meeting with her before she departs and hears through the grapevine what that will entail. One night of intimacy with a hefty severance payoff. She sets her mind to shut him down before he even makes the offer. Beating him to the punch and also being sexually assaulted by the club manager, she doesn't give him a lot of choice considering it would be a nightmare dealing with harassment in the workplace. He then offers to refer her to a job at another high-end club (not owned by him) that pays well, but he does put another offer on the table.
Jonathan is known to be untouchable when it comes to his heart. He is still in love with his ex-wife and will not commit to anyone for more than a few "dates". Monica has been single and celibate since she left her last toxic long-term boyfriend, Kevin; so a no-strings fling is tempting. She doesn't want to be with anyone who holds her back, not like last time. Her career is all she has time for and getting emotionally drowned again is NOT what she wants.
I've put everything on hold for you. I can't do this. I can't take care of everyone. I can't be there for everyone. I need to go. I need to go. I need to go... I need to go.
Monica's career is all she wants to focus on now and doesn't have room for a relationship or anyone else, but once the game began, she couldn't think of much else than Jonathan. He invades her mind like nothing else, and she does the same for him. He is breaking her into millions of pieces and she is taking him down with her.
If you have never seen beauty in a moment of suffering, you have never seen beauty at all... Friedrich Schiller (some German Poet)
In the words of the author, ***NONE OF MY BOOKS ARE SAFE*** is a true statement. If you can't handle spicy complicated romances, skip this book. If you do, enjoy the ride.
Thank you to Netgalley, Dreamscape Select | Flip City Media for a free audiobook to listen to this story in exchange for my honest review.
This book is a tad disjointed, and the character development could be better. My main issue with this is the narrator. She doesn’t do other characters’ voices well. She also makes everyone sound drunk, slurry, and/or whiny. Every “intimate” scene sounded more like “drugged out of her mind”, the narrator relied on lazy, mumbled speech instead of expressing emotion verbally. The narrator is frequently garbled or mumbly.
One word - YUM!
One Night With Him was steamy and delicious. I enjoyed hearing about Monica's life, being a broke musician who waited tables and billionaire Jonathon's give-no-f's attitude. The night that they meet, Monica accidentally spills a drink on Jonathon and gets fired by her sexist and sleazy boss. Except Jonathon is completely captivated by Monica, and promptly pursues her.
The push-pull dynamic of their relationship is interesting and I enjoyed reading about Monica exploring the world of BDSM and dom/sub with Jonathon. I loved being in Monica's head as she was experiencing all the new things! And let me tell you, the spicy scenes were SPICY!
The narrator in this book did a great job I was pleasantly surprised that she actually SUNG a song at about 80% of the way through. I had to drop the audiobook speed so I could appreciate it.
This book explores mental health, depression, anxiety, drug and alcohol use.
Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Select | Flip City Media and author CD Reiss, for an advance copy of this audiobook. This is my 100% honest review.
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Spice: 🌶🌶🌶🌶/5
Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
One Night With Him is a powerhouse of erotic romance with a deeply seeded (no pun-intended) plot. CD Reiss created a modern story that explores the complexities of being human in today's complicated world. As you read, you get to know the FMC and connect with her growth as she goes through her traumas, hopes, and dreams. The characters have top tier banter and the audiobook narrators did a *chef's kiss* job bringing these characters to life.
I appreciated the sensitivity and honesty that Reiss used to express the dmc's exploration into the world of BDSM and what a sub/dom relationship looks like. The FMC becomes OBSESSED (in my opinion) and I love being in her head for it.
All in all, this was a great read, a little slow paced, but I was along for the ride.
Thank you CD Reiss and Dreamscape Select | Flip City Media for the arc audiobook on NetGalley.
This audiobook had me hooked from start to finish! The chemistry between Jonathan and Monica is intense, and I loved how their relationship constantly walks the line between control and vulnerability. Jonathan's intensity and Monica’s resistance make for such an addictive push-pull relationship. The narrator, Jo Raylan, brought the characters to life perfectly, making it even harder to stop listening. C.D. Reiss delivered another masterpiece! If you're into steamy, emotionally charged romances, this is one audiobook you won’t want to miss!
