The Sullivan’s Island Supper Club by Susan M Boyer

The Sullivan’s Island Supper Club is part of a series, but easily read as a standalone mystery. The story follows a group of friends that meet once a month for a friendly dinner, each with very different lives, but bonding together like a family. While the book has a lot of characters, you quickly get to know them, enjoying getting to know them and the things that are important to them.

I wasn’t sure what I expected, but this book delivered so much more as it had a bit of everything. This book delivered romance, love including a second chance at love with characters who are resistant at first, quickly drawing you in. The author creates a great small time ambience, showing how close knit they become, making their own family from the people they choose to have in their lives, supporting one another through small as well as large problems.

Courtney Patterson is a fantastic narrator for this book, with her accents drawing you in and making you feel like you are really in a quaint Carolina town. Her melodic voice quickly draws you in, and holds your attention, until the end.

If you’re looking for a book that is heartwarming and comfortable, I recommend this book. This book makes you look at your connections and relationships and want the same thing that they have at the Supper Club. This was my first read by this author but it won’t be my last.

Susan Boyer you have done it again!

Welcome to the most "bless your heart" kinda supper club you could ask for! Susan has such a knack for developing her characters and describing the most delicious food.
Unlike the first book in this Series "Big Trouble on Sullivans Island" (I highly recommend by the way, you will be best friends with the protaganist Hadley by the end) this book is told through the monthly gatherings of the Sullivan Island Supper Club. There is a large host of characters, thankfully Susan includes a cast of characters are the beginning of the book, but stick with it I promise! By 10% in I was totally tracking who was who.
This book was a total delight! I had so much fun getting to know each of the members, who we were introduced to in the first book.
The writing is lighthearted, but very impactful. It is easy to tell what kind of person Susan Boyer is. She is kind, genuine, funny and fierce. I had so much fun reading this book and was really surprised at the big reveal!
Do yourself a favor pick up some cheese straws like a good southern lady sit on your front porch with your pearls and sweet tea and crack this book open! You won't be sorry!

THANK YOU SUSAN M BOYER and Stella Marris Publishing, Net Galley for allowing me to review this advanced copy read (I was not influenced in exchange for this honest review)

Such a cute little cozy beach mystery! With a quaint setting in Sullivan’s Island it was a great quick read. Admittedly there were a few too many characters to keep up with that had me going back to check on who was who a few times.

Just in time for halloween, Boyer's new book about the ladies who lunch on Sullivan's Island is a mash up of southern gentility mixed with potential development of a maritime forest on the island. Tempers flare and the body found in a decorative neighborhood cemetery is all too real. Fun for fans of the series as well newcomers as this book can be read as a standalone

Thank you, Stella Maris Books and NetGalley, for my free audiobook for review.

Have you ever encountered a group of characters so captivating that you wish you could befriend them in real life? That's exactly how I felt about the delightful bunch from the Sullivans Club. With their endearing quirks, relatable flaws, and infectious fun, I found myself yearning for an invitation to join their circle.

Although this is the third book in a series, it stands confidently on its own merits. The author skillfully introduces each woman, allowing readers to intimately connect with their individual stories.

As I delved into their lives, I found myself relating to their struggles and sympathizing with their challenges. The authenticity of these characters is truly remarkable, making them feel like old friends rather than fictional creations.

The story is further enriched by an intriguing mystery element, adding depth and excitement to the narrative. But what truly resonated with me was the ladies' passionate advocacy for their maritime forest. In today's world, where environmental consciousness is more crucial than ever, their dedication to Mother Earth struck a powerful chord.

Let's not forget the mouthwatering descriptions of food that pepper the pages – a delicious treat for the imagination! The quirky group of ladies, each navigating their own life experiences, feels incredibly relatable and genuine. Their friendship and the bond they share bring a heartwarming element to the story that left me feeling uplifted.

I must also commend the narrator, Courtney Patterson, whose performance beautifully captured the Southern charm that permeates the book. Her voice brought an extra layer of authenticity to the already vivid characters.

From start to finish, this book had me smiling. It was like a ray of sunshine, providing exactly the kind of comfort and joy I needed. Whether you're looking for a light-hearted read or a story of friendship and purpose, this book delivers on all fronts. It's a testament to the power of community, the importance of environmental stewardship, and the joy of true friendship.

Title: The Sullivan’s Island Supper Club
Series” Carolina Tales #2
Author: Susan M. Boyer
Genre: Mystery
Format: 🎧
Narrator: Courtney Patterson
Publisher: Dreamscape Select
Pub Date: October 4, 2024
My Rating: 4 Stars
Pages: 374

This is Book #2 in the Carolina Tales series; it is actually the third supper club story. If you are new to Sullivan Island, it is an island located in South Carolina Lowcountry outside of Charleston. This is my first in this series- I have read and loved other Sullivan’s Island stories.
Although this island looks like paradise the residents are like any other and care about local issues and of course have opinions about everyone and everything.

Story continues with monthly dinners, in this case attended and enjoyed by ~
Four widows: Tallulah, Frances, Camilla, Eugenia.
Two widowers: Fish, Tennyson,
Seven married couples: Sarabeth & Tucker, Quinn & Redmond, Libba & Jake, Birdie & Vernon, Cash & Hadley, Knox & Norah, Myrna & Finn.
The members take turns hosting the monthly supper clubs.

Earlier stories ~ Investigator Hadley Cooper, including the close friendship she developed with wealthy Eugenia Ladson, in the novel Big Trouble on Sullivan’s Island. Preceding Sullivan’s Island Supper Club the reader is introduced to other members of the group and how Tallulah Wentworth and Eugenia Ladson met the other main characters of the supper club in the novella Beginnings, The Sullivan’s Island Supper Club.

This story open with an old fashion Sullivan’s Island neighborhood meet-and-greet. Hosted by Sarabeth & Tucker. Everyone is welcome and members of the Supper Club all bring a cover dish and everyone is welcome. When four young couples arrive the party turns negative and things get nasty. The next morning someone is found dead.

Out story then turns back several months and leads up to the party and murder. Story is story by members of the Supper Club.

Although this story is a bit of mystery regarding the murder however, is very much a character based story. You will get to know the characters and love them (well many you will love).

Audiobook narrator Courtney Patterson does a great job performing the characters, in fact; I have a strong urge to say- y’all and craving some Southern food!!

I always enjoyed reading the authors comments and liked that Ms .Boyer wanted to clarify a few things in her Author’s comments . I know many authors worry about forgetting to including everyone in their Acknowledgements - I still always enjoy reading it.

Yes! Y’all - I enjoyed this story!

Want to thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Select for this delightful audiobook.
Publishing Release Date was - October 4, 2024.

I discovered this audiobook in the Listen Now section on NetGalley - thank you!

It was definitely interesting to read about a part of the US I am not very familiar with, about the community living on the island, the daily lives of its inhabitants and the problems they have, the aftermath of hurricane Hugo and the related environmental issues.

What I didn’t enjoy as much were the stretched-out conversations, the detailed background stories of characters, their family relations, health issues and skincare routines, as well as detailed descriptions of meals. I didn’t find all this information really interesting or relevant to the plot. It was just too much. It was more like listening to small-town gossip than reading an actual murder mystery. After the initial discovery of the body I was expecting the protagonists to start sleuthing. But at about 40% of the book there was still no mystery solving going on, just different characters reminiscing on a dinner they had had together. I am not a huge fan of multiple POVs and time jumps and in this case retelling the events from different points of view didn’t really seem necessary to me, because there wasn’t much going on in the first place.

On the other hand it was very heartwarming to read about the relationships among the main group of characters - their lifelong friendship was very wholesome and added a lot of warmth to the story. I think each of us would love to have such a group of close friends who always support each other and love each other unconditionally.

All in all, I would say that this is a cosy, heartwarming story about a small community with a murder mystery in the background, with lovely protagonists to root for.

A neighborhood meet and greet has just turned deadly. There is a dead body right next to Sarabeth Boone’s spooky Halloween graveyard display. Who would do such a horrible thing??

I love this author! She has some amazing characters that are very southern! And trust me you will laugh out loud in places!

This is a great mystery full of friendships, strong southern women and a beautiful setting of Sullivan’s Island. I listened to this in one day! Y’all!!! These characters!!!!

The narrator, Courtney Patterson, could not have been better. Sometimes a southern accent trips up a narrator…not this one! She nailed it!

Need a good southern mystery…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today.

I received this novel for a honest review.

This is the first of this author’s books I’ve read, and though I later discovered it is the third in the series, it reads perfectly well as a stand alone.
I listened to the audio and found the narrator did a wonderful job bringing the characters to life. It made for a quick pleasant reading experience. I really enjoyed the characters and setting and while not usually a fan of the cozy mystery genre, this proved to be an exception for me so I will happily read more in the series.
3.5
With thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for my copy of the audiobook for review.

This is the type of book that I LOVE TO READ!

It has a little bit of everything...love, romance, fear, despair, friendship, family, small town vibes, beach vibes, women pulling together through it all, families falling apart, old world class...as well as online debate forums that unravel everything in a heartbeat.... 😮😮

We open up with a very discouraging scenario, but as friends usually do, they come through, just when you need them the most! ❤️

Tallulah is heartbroken. Her beloved husband has been dead now for one year. She does not want to live anymore. What's left for her? Nothing...

Well, leave it to Eugenia and Fish to change her mind! That's what friends are for after all.... 🥰

And so, Tallulah is summoned to bring back and host the famous monthly Sullivan's Island Supper Club. And what an affair this is going to be!!!

🛑🛑 STOP HERE if you don't want to know any more. I'll be giving a loose outline below... 🛑🛑

So, as we begin the book, Tallulah gives a listing of all the players in the book. My mouth was hanging open. (I never remember anything. I'm definitely not going to remember any of these people... I was wrong!) Ms Boyer brings you IN TO the Sullivan Island community and family, so that you feel like you BELONG, and are actually A PART of this beautiful affair.

And Tallulah, well, I just totally LOVE her. I want to BE her when I grow up!! (If only...)

And so the cast of characters begin to show up, and what a beautiful and varied cast they are! And they are so devoted to the town, and each other!

But this is not just about friends. Or family. Or romance. It is about SO MUCH MORE!! And as you read, you just can't wait to keep turning the pages to find out what is going to happen next!!!

5+++ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨✨✨💫💫💫for me! ALL THE STARS..

Thanks so much to #NetGalley, #DreamscapeSelect and #StellaMarisBooksLLC for an ARC of the audiobook which is due to be released TOMORROW, 10/4/24!

I was introduced to Susan M. Boyer’s books a couple years ago through her Low Country book club. If it takes place in the low country, I will read it. I immediately fell in love with the characters of the Supper Club in the first book and was counting the days down to the next adventure. The books are filled with warmth while this group of friends finds trouble..okay okay trouble finds them. I enjoyed The Sullivan's Island Supper Club maybe even more than the first book. If you want a cozy mystery with a great bunch of characters pick this series up.

Courtney Patterson is a fantastic narrator for this book, it’s warm and feels like the low country.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Select | Stella Maris Books, LLC to allow me to spend some time with the Sullivan Island Supper Club. #TheSullivansIslandSupperClub #NetGalley

This is the second book in a series and I felt I could follow along the story without reading the first book. I am sure by reading the first book you gain additional information on the characters and would recommend it. Alway love it when people get together and support each other through troubles, intrigue and issues that arise in life and enjoyed the story line. The reader is drawn into the lives of this group of women revolving around their monthly supper club. The kindness and support they give one another through the day to day ups and downs was touching. Especially when they had to confront truths they didn't want to accept. There are mini mysteries throughout this book but what really shines is the compassion shown among the friends. The story continue to unfolds as you find out more about the characters and the issues they face. Looking forwad to the next in the series. Thanks to the author, publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity.

The Sullivan's Island Supper Club by Susan Boyer is a blend of mystery, friendship, and Southern charm. Set against the beautiful Sullivan’s Island, this novel delves into the lives of a close knit group of small town women whose monthly dinners become the heart of the story. The novel’s central mystery, sparked by a heated local debate over the management of a maritime forest, unfolds with intensity. When a neighborhood gathering turns violent and a body is discovered, the women of Sullivan’s Island must navigate the fallout, uncovering secrets that threaten to shatter their bonds. I absolutely adore this series! These books are quintessential Southern mysteries, rich with scandal and steeped in sisterhood. The audiobook version of this book is equally fantastic, featuring an outstanding narrator. They did an amazing job bringing the book to life, adding depth and emotion to the characters.
