I wish I could give this book more stars than 5! I received both an ARC and an ALC for this book. Sometime I read tandem and sometimes I switched back and forth so I could keep reading this book and not put it down.
This book was a perfect lead up to a finale. It was so well written and entertaining and had me on the edge of my seat while still building up to that conclusion that is going to come with book 4.
Storm of Ink and Blood was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and it did not disappoint. The tension and the chemistry between these characters is unmatched and I am invested in every singe character in this book. This is book three in the Nightfire quartet and every book in this series gets better and better.
Zarya is one of my favorite FMCs that I've read. In this book she grows even more and really starts to come into her power. Her character development in this book has me so excited to see what is going to happen in book 4! Yassen is still one of my favorite characters from any story ever and still steals the spotlight in every scene he is in. We get a lot from the characters we already know and love in this story, but Nisha was able to seamlessly add in a bunch of new characters that were are so well written and fit into this story beautifully (Miraan, Ajay are so much fun and I am invested).
I loved learning more about Rabin and getting an insight into his life prior to this story starting. I am really curious to see what is going to happen with him.
This book was full of twists and turns and was honestly the best addition to this series. I am so excited for the fourth and final book in this series.
Last but not least I want to talk about the audiobook narration because was so good! I didn't listen to the audiobook for the first two books in this series and I wish I would have. I have learned I am terrible at pronunciation and I loved hearing the names of people and places the way they are supposed to be pronounced. The audiobook narrator also did such a good job with all of the different characters and making them all feel unique. I think I am going to go back and get the sudiobooks for this whole series so I can do an audiobook re-read before the release of book 4!
I listened to the audiobook and read the eARC as well. I appreciate NetGalley, DreamScape and Nisha Tuli for the opportunity. Thank you!
What can I say each book is better than the last! The character development, expanded view into the world, relationship development and the revelations that we get in Storm of Ink and Blood are on point! I love the characters that we're getting to know and the ones that have reconnected!
My favorite things
1. Our badass girl coming into her own 💪
2. Zarya's second best friend 😆
3. The sexy growly dragon shifter 🥵
4. Yasen and his potential love interest 😍
5. Finding out not all of Zarya's siblings aren't assholes. 👏
I so enjoy Nisha's writing style and her ability to describe her world. She really brings everything to life!
Shiromi Aserio is an amazing narrator and brought her full game while narrating Storm of Ink and Blood! She gives such life to each character with her ability to bring through emotion and depth ❤️
Like the first two books in this series, I devoured this one in less than a day. I found myself immersed once again in the storyline and rooting for Zarya and Rabin (who remains a top tier book boyfriend). We continue to learn more about this world and the magical anchors as well as some of the family members. For a split second, I was afraid this might end on a cliffhanger, but it did not. However, I am eagerly awaiting the next book already.
I always say this, but THIS book was my favorite so far in the series! I can always trust Nisha to deliver! This series somehow gets better with each book! I’ve loved watching all the characters develop and grow, especially Zarya! She is my girl! I love her confidence and her strong love for the people she cares about.
And Rabin, my dragon shifter man. 😍 I love him so much. He’s a secret softie, but only when it comes to Zarya. I love how obsessed he is with her. Literally so perfect. This book had me giggling and kicking my feet. And the spice in this one was so 😮💨 I need more Rabin IMMEDIATELY!
Something else I love about this series is the bond between Zarya and Yasen. They are the definition of a ride or die friendship. I love their conversations with each other so much. Everyone needs a Yasen in their life!
I am so excited for the conclusion to this series. Book three constantly had me at the edge of my seat, so I can only imagine what book four has in store for us.
Thank you so much to Nisha, Second Sky books, and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Storm of Ink and Blood is my favorite so far in the series. It has everything you could want in a fantasy romance.
We got:
political intrigue
an uprising
longing with a bit of angst
found family
amazing friendship
and much more.
Nisha manages to keep me wondering what is going to happen, which is difficult considering how many books I read. Great book, I'm already looking forward to the next one!
As usual this audio was great!
Loved the narration! It really helped me get into the book
and finish it in a day.
This third book had higher stakes and Zarya is getting more independent. Her relationship with Rabin had its highs and lows but came out stronger.
She learns more about her family and we get to meet them.
Also, the world and the magic system of this book are so interesting! Especially The queen who’s a tree? Well, Nisha said not to bother with that but I can’t help but wonder…
I can’t wait for the last installment!
Thank you Dreamscape select and NetGalley for this ALC !!
I have loved every book in this series, and Storm of Ink and Blood is no exception. I believe each book in the series is better than the previous one. There’s so much growth in Zarya from the first book to the end of Storm of Ink and Blood. I loved watching her come into her own and decide what role she would play to establish the future she hopes to see. That is the central part of this book’s conflict and I really appreciated how Tuli approached it. It was intense, inspiring, at times gut wrenching and heart breaking, but such a worthy cause to stand up and fight for. We also get to visit a new setting in Storm of Ink and Blood giving us new world building from Tuli. Tuli’s world building is lush, descriptive, and everything you could want to envision yourself walking the streets alongside the characters. The relationships are a central part of this story and I love seeing them continue to evolve. While I love the dynamic between Zarya and Rabin, I stand by the best relationship is the friendship that evolved between Zarya and Yasen. The way they support each other is so special. I did enjoy how Tuli made Rabin work for Zarya’s affection after the events of book two. I combo read this between the ebook and audiobook. I loved them both and think readers will be happy either way. For the narration, I love how Shiromi Arserio transported readers to the world Tuli established. Arserio added so much energy and emotion to the narration making it such an enjoyable experience. Overall, this book is special and a must read series.
Honestly, Nisha J. Tuli is rapidly becoming my absolutely favourite fantasy series author.
Storm of Ink and Blood is the third book in the exciting and spicy "The Nightfire Quartet" and while you could dive in at this stage, I would recommend that you start with book one, "Heart of Night and Fire", followed by "Dance of Stars and Ashes".
Our adventure commences in "Heart of Night and Fire", when we meet Zarya, a young woman who is desperate to escape her prison (admittedly, a fairly pleasant prison) but a prison none the less. When the magic keeping her imprisoned, mysteriously vanishes, Zarya takes her chance to escape and makes her way to the enchanted city of Dharati. There our story really kick-starts and Zarya joins in the battle to protect her new home.
In book two, the storyline has progressed and Zarya has discovered the truth about Rabin and is focusing on magic.
As the principal storyline has been well-established by book, we dive right into the action and this does not let up throughout the book. We see Zarya standing up for herself and concentrating on her destiny. She has come a long way from the first book and I love her strength - and I'm sure many readers will sympathise with her broken heart and confusion over what to do. This story is also very spicy so be warned if that's not for you. But it's also funny, fast paced, with a wry commentary on social issues (class) and very much worth a read. This e-adiobook is brilliantly narrated by Shiromi Arserio who brings all of the characters, who especially Zarya to life.
Zarya and Yasen are off in her family's kingdom and have managed to get involved with a group of rebels. She learns more ways that her powers can be of use. Rabiv goes on a very necessary apology tour, and they figure out more about their relationship. The drama hits near the end, and things are set up further for the final installment, which will involve both sides of her family and her role in the prophecy.
This series has gotten increasingly better with each installment. Book 3 adds a Rabiv POV. I'm always a fan of a dual POV; characters can not know what other's motives are, but I certainly like to. I think this was a good call after the ending of book 2 made Zarya feel like he had betrayed her. We needed proof that he was on the up and up. I'll be waiting for book 4!
The quality of the audiobook was great. It is comprised of only one narrator despite there being more than one POV, but she does a great job of differentiating between characters without trying too hard to sound masculine, which can take me out of an audio. She speaks clearly, and I was able to speed up the audio substantially without it becoming hard to follow.
Thanks to Dreamscape Select and NetGalley for an ALC of this book for an honest review.
