Beautifully illustrated children's book written in rhyme, illustrating diverse groups of children. The book promotes finding the world's wonders all around us, and sharing those discoveries with others in the child's life - other children and adults.
Joanna Gaines writes the cutest children's books. I was so excited to read her latest to my kids. I read it with my two girls, aged 10 and 3 and they both loved it. I love how Joanna invites you to look beyond the surface. The book encourages readers to see the wonder behind the ordinary. Such a sweet encouragement to get kids away from screens and into the outdoors and nature. It is so easy these days to stay inside and be on devices. Once children go outside and allow themselves to be bored they will begin to see the wonder.
The illustrations are so cute and are very similar to her previous books. The Illustrator Julianna Swaney just simply makes the cutest illustrations for children's books. I love the representation of kids of all skin colors along with a chiId in a wheelchair. The nature and animals are so so adorable!
I highly recommend this book for kids ages 2-6. But the older kids and adults will enjoy it too ;) This is perfect for parents to read to their children for a bedtime story.
Thank you Tommy Nelson for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
I really loved this beautiful little picture book. The lesson is wonderful, of course -- we all need to appreciate the wonder we see in the world. But the language also makes the book feel very comfortable and warm. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
The World Needs the Wonder You See is a beautifully illustrated provocation for young children. I feel it encourages students to get outside and discover the many wonders that are all around us. Children will be able to see themselves in the diverse characters in the illustrations. This picture book would be the perfect addition to any public, school or personal library to encourage the young readers to discover the wonder all around them.
Thank you Net Galley, Joanna Gaines and Tommy Nelson for the opportunity to preview this book and the opinions shared are my own,
The World Needs the Wonder You See will be available January 28, 2025.
this is such a beautiful message - one that i am trying to teach my young kiddos everyday. the illustrations were beautiful and have so much to discover. with children’s books, i always love when there is a specific cadence or rhythm and this didn’t seem to have one it it was dull very enjoyable!
This story is so cute! I especially loved how diverse the children are—a little girl in this book is even in a wheelchair which was so special to see (since I suffer with health issues and am in a wheelchair myself!). 🥲 The illustrations are wonderfully drawn, and the colors are soft to the eye and not too harsh. What a beautiful book that would be great for gifts! ❤️
This book is full of sweet illustrations to go along with the story. A book about how we all see things differently and if you look closer you may see some things you didn't realize were there. I like the idea how some of us just see a forest but some people see it as an enchanted world. Such a cool idea to share with kids so they can open their minds and then share with others what they see. Then we can see the wonders that live in everyone.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.
What an enchanting tale that captures the hearts of young readers! From the moment you open the book, you’re transported into a world. The illustrations are absolutely stunning, bursting with color and detail that complement the story beautifully. The storytelling is engaging and age-appropriate, with just the right balance of excitement and heart. Young readers will love following along.
Here we have an absolutely gorgeous, inclusive, and thematically important book that promotes curiosity and interest in the world around us with amazing artwork and words.
Excellent.
I reviewed this with my five year old son and we both really enjoyed it! He said he really liked the pictures and we both enjoyed all the details that were included in them. I always love a rhyming book especially for little kids. This book will hopefully inspire kids and adults alike to go outside and notice more of the amazing details in their world!
A beautiful book about the wonders all around us that we often overlook! This book has a great message about slowing down and taking in the world around you. It's a great book for teaching about how to appreciate the world around you. The illustrations in this book are also breathtaking and go perfectly with the story.
Thank you so much to Netgalley and Tommy Nelson for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
My 4 year old attends an outdoor forest preschool, so this book ended up being perfect for him! It feels very similar to what he is taught at school through nature based learning and I can't wait to be able to gift a copy to his teachers when it's released. Beautiful illistrations as well.
A celebration for seeing the amazing in what could pass as ordinary.
Encouraging a second, closer look at life; this beautifully illustrated story is a loving wish for ever-wonder.
Thanks to NetGalley for sharing this DRC with me for an honest review.
With darling illustrations, this book encourages readers to explore the world around them with a more inquisitive eye. Paying attention to the trees, clouds, and animals around us at a slower pace is hard to do in today’s frenzied world, but this book will encourage children and parents alike to approach the world with renewed wonder.
A beautifully written book about the wonders all around us that we often overlook, The Wonder You See offers a captivating view of the world around us. By slowing down and looking closely, Gaines reveals all of the enchanting secrets to discover. The book explores the theme of appreciation for the natural world, encouraging children to find joy in the small details of everyday life. It highlights the importance of being present and aware, as well as fostering a deeper connection with our surroundings. Through vivid descriptions and thoughtful reflections, Gaines invites readers to rediscover the magic in the ordinary.
"Celebrate the wonder of the world through a child’s eyes in this imaginative book about all the beauty, hope, and surprise hiding in plain sight. Look up. Lean in. Bend low. Reach for new heights. Every day, from every place, there’s more to see in this great big world of possibility."
When I seen this available on NetGalley I had to request for it. I love Joanna and this looks like the perfect book for kids who have a million questions about things and a mind full of imagination. This was an easy read that I think kids could easily understand and read along with. There was diversity and a girl in a wheelchair. There was ants doing a marching parade and ducks swimming in puddles. The illustrations in this book were beautiful.
A fanciful fantasy novel that bridged modern day conventions with magic and read like a romance novel as well. The Story line was intriguing but I felt it took one very wrong turn at the end with the return of a major character referenced throughout the book. Teh time travel play introduced later in the story to allow the heroes to prevail changed time in that instance but the return of a missing character from a past time line did not disrupt the time line similarly which I felt caused a big conflict in the story. What I woud have rather seen is the character being offered the chance to come back but rejecting the play with a heroic speech about changing his fate. That would have been a better resolution to the time connundrum. Otherwise the book was fairly fluffy but a good read.

I enjoyed this book a lot. The pictures and the story were beautiful!
The World Needs the Wonder You See follows a group of children who discover the wonder of the world around them from magic puddles to play in on a rainy day to the extraordinary sights on a star-filled night. The illustrations are beautiful and represent a diverse group of kids. The book also has great messages for children to be curious about the world around them and share the wonder they see.
An absolutely beautiful book. The colors of the illustrations are vibrant yet calming as well. The messages of taking things slowly, looking at things from a different perspective and the fact that how you see things/the things you see are so important to share with others, are just wonderful and really important to support growing, curious minds. I especially like the fun scenes of the animals, like the ant parade, and the grasshopper playing his violin, as well as the bees gathering pollen with their baskets. The pictures are exciting and accessible. I also am a big fan of the inclusion of a child in a wheel chair, as well as the other diversity among the characters. In a book with a message like this it is extra important to include these many unique characters and this book does that well.
