The illustrations in this book are stunning! I love the message of exploration and finding hidden beauty in creation. This book encourages children to get outside and explore the world around them. Everytime I read a book by Joanna, I wish I saw more of her Christian faith. However, I really enjoyed this story and appreciated the diversity represented in the illustrations.
Though this was written for children, I feel the underlying narrative is more for parents. As it's our children that remind us to look under the surface. The illustrations are cute, and I enjoyed the story. It's one I would share with my kids. This story is a reminder to "stop and smell the flowers." Something our society seems to forget about at younger and younger ages.
Thank you to Net Galley and the Publisher for the ARC.
If you're looking for a sweet book about imagination and curiosity for your little readers, I'd recommend The World Needs the Wonder You See. I enjoyed the book's emphasis on the uniqueness of everyone's imagination and how we all see the world differently. Also, this book is perfect if you want an eye-catching story for your kids to read. The illustrations were beautiful and imaginative, and easily drew me into the story. The drawings of the forest were my personal favorite.
Note: If you're looking for a Christian children's book, there are no biblical references or references to God/Christ, etc.
Happy reading,

In only a way that Joanna Gaines truly can, she invites both young and old to look at the world around them in a new way and choose to see wonder. She shows that being curious and seeking wonder are very good things. The amazing, vibrant pictures along with the flowing, rhythmic words of Joanna Gaines will make you and your little one smile from ear to ear when reading. This is a staple to have in your children's book collection. I would give this book a big 5 stars!

The rhyming text encourages readers to slow down and look closer. The pictures give little readers a chance to see what it is possible to see on closer inspection. The children in the illustrations are diverse and different group giving all kids a chance to see themselves in the pages.
The story is hopeful without being too complicated for littles. The rhyming text may make this not appropriate for class read alouds but as a read together it is just about perfect.
5 ⭐️s! This is going to be my go to gift. I love everything about this book!! I love the encouragement to look closely, to see what is easily missed in the fast paced world we live. The illustrations are stunning. I re read this book with my daughter and she was gasping and quickly captured in the magic of the book!!
A must read-beautiful and inspiring!!
Thank you for the ARC!
Absolutely stunning and soft illustrations. The rhyming story crafted a beautiful life lesson. The diverse cast of people was a nice touch.
“Wonder is never in short supply.”
This was my favorite line from this sweet children’s book about finding wonder everywhere. Joanna Gaines gives a beautiful introduction about how her son Crew has helped her see more wonder again and how we can too. Then the book is filled with wonderful illustrations as wonder is found everywhere.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the advanced e-copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.
This book sends such a sweet message to its readers: keep your mind open wide and let your curiosity guide you. Where some people see the mundane, others can see the magic in the world around us. We can learn from one another to see the true beauty of the world. The illustrations are so lovely, depicting a group of young friends who begin in a rather fantastic treehouse and travel to all sorts of places, seeing more than the normal eye would typically observe. Fun little things for the reader to see on every page.
This was such a wonderful read and a great reminder of all kids can bring to the world. Their imagination, their creativity, it's all so wonderful. I will be buying this for my nephews!
I really like how this book encourages kids to tune into their imaginations and be curious about the natural world around them. I also like how the author recognizes that it's important for kids to be this way, because it is actually important, especially now. However, while the title makes sense, I think it doesn't exactly appeal to young readers and it doesn't flawlessly relate to the story. It's good for the story to be written in second person, but having the title be the same way doesn't interest children as much as it could. Additionally, the story itself doesn't mention "the world", it primarily just shows kids interacting with other kids. This is good and relatable for a young audience, but it creates that disconnect between the book and its title. Lastly, I want to give credit to the illustrator. It's clear that the illustrator has the wonder that this book pushes, because there is an impressive amount of visual detail on every single page. These details will no doubt inspire readers to look for these hidden gems in the environment around them. Bravo for that!
Inspired by the author's youngest son, Crew, this book is beautifully illustrated and told in rhyming text, featuring a cast of diverse child characters who celebrate the joy of the natural world. I really enjoyed this book and think young readers and parents alike will get countless hours of pleasure reading it together. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!
This book is absolutely wonderful! The illustrations are so sweet, not overstimulating, and beautifully follow the story. It's about how children, who are great observers of our natural world, see the world in a much more beautiful way. They often slow down and appreciate all the little things around them as they wonder about the world. I think this book would make a wonderful addition to anyone's personal or classroom library. This is a book I will definitely pick up for our Nature Preschool, as well as for my personal collection for my children.
Thank you, NetGalley, Joanna Gaines, and Tommy Nelson, for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Absolutely adorable! A must for your family's bookshelf.
First of all- the illustrations are stunning. I'm always on the hunt for books with high quality illustrations because I have young readers who aren't reading words yet, they just look at pictures. I believe that the illustrations in children's books can be just as powerful and tell just as much of a story as the words. This book proved my theory correct, each book is vibrant and full, providing young readers with plenty to look at and discover.
I loved the message of finding the wonder in every day things. A concept that I think comes easily for young children and we as adults often forget. A great reminder for me as an adult as well, to take the time to slow down and enjoy the wonder in each day!
The World Needs the Wonder You See by Joanna Gaines is a fantastic children's book with a great message and high quality illustrations and would make a fantastic addition to any family's bookshelf.

Beautifully illustrated children's book written in rhyme, illustrating diverse groups of children. The book promotes finding the world's wonders all around us, and sharing those discoveries with others in the child's life - other children and adults.
Joanna Gaines writes the cutest children's books. I was so excited to read her latest to my kids. I read it with my two girls, aged 10 and 3 and they both loved it. I love how Joanna invites you to look beyond the surface. The book encourages readers to see the wonder behind the ordinary. Such a sweet encouragement to get kids away from screens and into the outdoors and nature. It is so easy these days to stay inside and be on devices. Once children go outside and allow themselves to be bored they will begin to see the wonder.
The illustrations are so cute and are very similar to her previous books. The Illustrator Julianna Swaney just simply makes the cutest illustrations for children's books. I love the representation of kids of all skin colors along with a chiId in a wheelchair. The nature and animals are so so adorable!
I highly recommend this book for kids ages 2-6. But the older kids and adults will enjoy it too ;) This is perfect for parents to read to their children for a bedtime story.
Thank you Tommy Nelson for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
I really loved this beautiful little picture book. The lesson is wonderful, of course -- we all need to appreciate the wonder we see in the world. But the language also makes the book feel very comfortable and warm. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
The World Needs the Wonder You See is a beautifully illustrated provocation for young children. I feel it encourages students to get outside and discover the many wonders that are all around us. Children will be able to see themselves in the diverse characters in the illustrations. This picture book would be the perfect addition to any public, school or personal library to encourage the young readers to discover the wonder all around them.
Thank you Net Galley, Joanna Gaines and Tommy Nelson for the opportunity to preview this book and the opinions shared are my own,
The World Needs the Wonder You See will be available January 28, 2025.
this is such a beautiful message - one that i am trying to teach my young kiddos everyday. the illustrations were beautiful and have so much to discover. with children’s books, i always love when there is a specific cadence or rhythm and this didn’t seem to have one it it was dull very enjoyable!
This story is so cute! I especially loved how diverse the children are—a little girl in this book is even in a wheelchair which was so special to see (since I suffer with health issues and am in a wheelchair myself!). 🥲 The illustrations are wonderfully drawn, and the colors are soft to the eye and not too harsh. What a beautiful book that would be great for gifts! ❤️
