I am loving Jewel's writing in this world! She can write some of my favorite angsty, emotional and swoony romances and this is no exception. I love that Maren is a pilot that works alongside the rugged firefighters and holds her own. Ozzy isn't looking for love and has to prioritize his daughter's future. Such a beautiful, heartwrenching story that brings out so many emotions.

From Nowhere was not what I was expecting at all as it left me with a buffet of emotions and is the definition of slow-burn.

My Heart is Sooooo Full!!!!
I have no idea why I even entertained any semblance of doubt about Jewel E. Ann's ability to make me fall even harder. I had one teeny tiny shadow of doubt saying "I don't know if this will top Jamie and Fitz..."
I learned you don't need to compare loves. Or Ozzy did... and I enjoyed the ride!
I was so excited to learn the world's coolest roommates would also get a chance to shine. I love this so hard for Maren!!! She's a special lady and it was an absolute joy and heartwarming to watch her fall hard and fast. I feel like a proud parent.
It's an intense and wonderful thing when love sneaks up From Nowhere.
A breathtaking love story that gives you wings.

This book was heartbreakingly beautiful. At its core, it’s about grief and healing, and learning to love again. It was a beautiful second chance live story that will have you crying with both sad and happy tears 🥹 It’s so vulnerable, and I loved how lasting an impression it leaves on its readers.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

5 Stars for this emotional roller-coaster!
As much as I loved the first book in this series I loved this book more! It is so well written and I could not put it down. This book deals with traumatic loss and complex issues, but still has a light side. Maren was just so perfect for Ozzy and Lola ... she's level headed and has a heart of gold. And then there's Ozzy ... he loves his daughter so much that he agrees to only walk or ride his bike everywhere he goes, because she's afraid he'll die in a car accident like her mom. I wanted to kick Ozzy's mother-in-law where the sun doesn't shine ... I hated that she blamed Ozzy for the accident. I love it when there are kids in a book and Lola is just so sweet. I laughed so hard when she would talk about what her friend Dakota and his mom would say ... it still makes me chuckle. This is a must read and I sure hope that Will, the last roommate will get a book too!
Two years ago Ozzy's wife died in a car accident and his daughter Lola will bear scars for the rest of her life. When Ozzy embarrassingly meets Maren in the men's washroom at work, he is smitten. But why would a beautiful, brave woman like Maren want to have anything to do with a single dad who only rides a bicycle, has a 10-year-old traumatized daughter and lives with his ex-in-laws? Not to mention that he still loves his dead wife. Maren is a pilot who helps battle the wildfires in Montana. But with her best friends getting married, she begins to rethink her life plan. She is drawn to Ozzy when meet, but when she meets is daughter, Maren falls head over heels and yearns for a family of her own.

I don’t know if I can adequately express the amount of love I have for Ozzy, Maren, and Lola. This story felt heavy. Grief is heavy. Anxiety and fear are heavy. But this story was also so beautiful. No spoilers. Go in blind because that’s always the best way. But this story was such a perfect follow up to the first book in this series.
Seeing glimpses of Jamie and Fitz and Will were such a great highlight to the story.
Please tell us we are getting Will’s story!!!!!

I’ve enjoyed Jewel E Ann’s books in the past, so I was looking forward to From Nowhere, the second book in her Wildfire series. I hadn’t read the first book, but this one can be read as a standalone, so I jumped right in. Sadly, this one just didn’t work for me.
The story follows Maren, a pilot who lives with two male housemates (who are like brothers to her), and Ozzy, a plane mechanic and single dad. Ozzy’s dealing with a lot—his wife, Brynne, passed away in a car accident two years ago, and he’s doing his best to raise their daughter, Lola, while grieving himself. To make things harder, he’s stuck living with his in-laws, who are supposed to be helping out but spend most of their time blaming him for their daughter’s death and micromanaging his life. His mother-in-law is especially controlling, while his father-in-law just goes along with whatever she says. I didn’t enjoy any scenes with them, to be honest—they’re not written to be likable, and they succeeded at that.
As for the romance, Ozzy is attracted to Maren, and Lola is very sweet about encouraging her dad to get back out there and date. But with everything Ozzy’s juggling—his in-laws, his grief, and Lola’s anxiety—it’s tough for him to fully commit. This is a slow burn, but it felt too slow. It took a long time for anything to really get going, and even then, I didn’t feel much chemistry between Maren and Ozzy.
Another challenge for me was Brynne’s presence in the story. I appreciate that the book tried to handle her death with sensitivity, but it felt like it kept pulling the focus away from Maren and Ozzy’s relationship. Instead of being drawn into their love story, I found myself feeling like their connection was secondary to Ozzy’s journey with grief. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it wasn’t what I was hoping for when I picked this up.
There are some dramatic and emotional moments, and the writing itself is solid—it’s clear that Jewel E Ann knows how to tell a story. But for me, this one just missed the mark. I didn’t feel that spark or connection between the main characters, and I found it a bit of a slog to get through.
That said, if you love angsty, emotional stories that dive deep into grief and healing, this might work for you. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t for me this time.
I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

When Maren meets Ozzy, they fall for each other quickly. But Ozzy's life is complicated with his daughter, the recent deaths of his wife and father, and his in-laws. A secret, single dad romance in the Wildfire series from Jewel E Ann.

Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for the eARC!
I absolutely adored this. Ozzy had me swooning from the beginning, especially with his letters and flowers, and his love for Lola sent it over the top. I didn’t care for Maren in the first book, but she redeemed herself! Ozzy and Maren had incredible chemistry, and the way Maren loved Lola too was so sweet.
I really liked the depiction of trauma and grief, it showed them in a beautiful way and really showed that you can overcome anything when you put your mind to it. They had all been through so much and it was beautiful to see them come together and overcome.
The plot has a good amount of drama, which I liked. The main characters were fantastic, the writing was funny, and it was overall great.
I hope there’s a book for Will in the future 👀

This is one of my favorite authors and I read the first book in this new series and was psyched to read this one. It is a stand-alone, but you get introduced to the FMC in the first book (From Air). It is worth it to start with the first book, but not necessary to enjoy this one. I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of this book via NetGalley and this is a voluntary review.
The FMC (Maren) and MMC (Ozzy) had an unorthodox meet cute but it was just the beginning of a really fun, emotional and heart warming story. I just love it when an author could dig into all my emotions and have me engrossed and anticipating every page. This book delivered all that and more. Their journey was a roller coaster that I did not want to get off.
The way this author sets up the intimate scenes, its brilliant. She coaxes and draws you in, then leaves you breathless. The tug on your emotions and the slow burn was absolutely delicious. I devoured this book and left no crumbs. This book had me all in my feels and grinning ear to ear at times. The way the main characters navigated their developing relationship was so well written, I was deeply invested in their outcome. A really satisfying ending as well.
I highly recommend this book if you want really great writing with all the feels, fun, heartwarming, spicy and "kick up your feet" good.

Wow. Just wow.
I am totally in love with Maren and Ozzy. And Lola. I was apprehensive going into this book because I will be perfectly honest, I was not in love with Jamie and Fitz's book. But for whatever reason, this story just blew me away. I was very curious about Maren when we met her in book 1. She's a tanker pilot that puts out fires. What a cool job! Especially for a woman. And Ozzy is the new mechanic that works on her plane and keeps her safe in the air.
Their meet cute was the best! And turns out it is the precursor for how their whole relationship played out on the pages. Both of these characters have a dry sense of humor that I completely gelled with. And Ozzy's daughter Lola? She's so adorable! And yes, she's ten going on twenty. I loved how Maren fell in love with Lola before she fell in love with Ozzy. For a single parent, that is the best thing that could ever happen.
Jewel truly navigated their relationship and all the speedbumps along the way, with delicacy but also honesty and humor. Ozzy and Lola have been through a serious tragedy that has changed their lives forever, so how does Maren fit into their picture?
I was not a huge fan of Tia, I wanted to slap her several times, but again, Jewel did a magnificent job of portraying a grieving mother who will never be the same without her daughter, and she rebels at every turn against Ozzy moving on with his life.
Maren was an absolute saint, and I love the fact that she's a bit older (in her thirties) and has lived through a very similar tragedy to Ozzy's so she's much more patient (not really but yes) which I think helped their relationship truly flourish. I so enjoyed the notes and flowers/produce that Ozzy gave her each time they got personal time together. That was so perfect!
I don't know what exactly it was about this story that resonated so deeply with me. Maybe it was because I also fell in love with a single dad and navigated the very bumpy world of bringing two families together and all the obstacles that go along with that. Or maybe it was just the way they were with each other; the honesty they always gave each other. Whatever it was, I loved it.
My favorite quote of the whole book is the very last words:
It’s never the things I see coming that take my breath away. It’s the moments that come from nowhere. A lost wallet. A car accident. And an empty toilet paper roll.
I'm very intrigued as to what Will's story is going to be. And whether it will be with a certain doctor who he had no idea was underage when they hooked up. I hope so!

After a hilarious meet cute, pilot Maren and mechanic Ozzy navigate a complicated dating arrangement.
I loved this one!!! Here's what I loved:
Maren: I adored her in the first book of this series (From Air) and she just made me love her even more in this book! She's smart and sassy. I adored her with Izzy and Lola. There is just so much to love about her to be honest.
Izzy: ugh, this man. He's got so many sides to him. His relationship with Lola is great and I loved their banter. But then on the next page he is hilarious with Maren that I was laughing out loud! He has a lot to work through but he really does work on himself the entire book.
The series: This is shaping up to be one of my favorite series. All of the side characters are perfect and I can't wait to read more from this world.
All in all, this is a great spicy romance.
Thank you to the author and publisher for the gifted copy!

As soon as I finished reading From Air, I was adding this book to my to-be-read list. Having already been introduced to Maren Bernabe in From Air, I was looking forward to getting to know her better and watching her love story unfold.
Maren Bernabe is badass. Seriously. She works as an air tanker pilot, dropping flame retardant on forest fires. Her first love was flying, but when she has an awkward (but funny) encounter with an aircraft mechanic, well, perhaps there could be room for another love.
Ozzy Laster’s life has been anything but simple. He’s a single dad who lost his wife two years ago in a car accident, an accident that his daughter had survived. While he knows that he is lucky to have his daughter still with him, her life is guided by the trauma that she faced from the accident. Ozzy’s life is busy, filled with challenges, and striving to be the best father that he can be, he is not looking for a love interest, but sometimes life brings you just what you need.
There was nothing easy about Maren and Ozzy’s relationship, but how could it be. They faced a plethora of obstacles. Did I want them to overcome those obstacles? Absolutely. Was Ozzy’s daughter adorable and worth every hardship? Of course she was.
As always, Jewel E. Ann has written a story that made me laugh, made me cry, and made my heart beat a little bit faster. She always creates a wonderful cast of characters that make you feel as though you’re being reacquainted with old friends. From Nowhere was a great read from start to finish. My only hope for this series is that it continues with Will’s story. I really want Will to get his girl.
*5 Stars

This story was something else...
I was emotional; I laughed so hard, was angry, and was in love.
I believe that this book would make swoon any woman.
The love between the father and his daughter, the fear of losing someone, and the criticism from mother in law, it was quite a lot to take. His daughter Lola was simply a gem, the 10-year-old girl struggled so much with the passing of her mom, yet tried to be positive and encourage her father to find new love.
And then there was her, gorgeous tanker pilot, fearless, not even seeking love.
Yet both of them somehow fell, quite hard but then felt guilty though finally found the way.
The writing was amazing and the story will stay on my mind for a long time.

There is nothing like a Jewel E Ann book I’m discovering. This is the second book in the standalone Wildfire series. I would recommend reading book one, but you don’t have to. The heroine is a firefighter pilot and the hero is an airplane mechanic. She is just living life until she meets this single dad and his daughter that turns her world upside down. I love this world, these characters, and this story.
I voluntarily read an early copy.

Sparks fly between air tanker pilot Maren Bernabe and aircraft mechanic (and single dad) Ozzy Laster during the most awkward of meet cutes. Ozzy, fully committed to helping his daughter Lola recover from the PTSD she suffered after the car crash that killed her mom, isn’t ready for a relationship. But tough as nails, and incredible gorgeous Maren (😜), is impossible to resist.
This is hands down my favorite Jewel E. Ann series. Not only is book one, From Air, exceptional, but the follow up is equally so. I will say that I am partial to any book that features a main character by the name of Maren, so I was anxiously awaiting this book while reading the previous one. The best part? It lived up to ALL of my expectations and so much more.
Maren and Ozzy have *the* most amazing chemistry. Every scene they are in features intense sparks, fitting for a firefighter romance. And while single parent isn’t always my favorite trope, this story might just make me a convert. Ozzy is the most amazing dad, balancing his career with his love for his daughter as he tries to work through the trauma with her, never pushing her before she is ready. I found myself rooting hard for this trio, and becoming emotional when it seemed as though things would not work out to their liking (or mine).
While I am sure I will love the next installment as well, this book holds such a special place in my heart. I will most definitely be rereading this one as soon as the audio is available.

Gah! My heart. I really, really liked this one. It had so much more of the Jewel E. Ann that I love, and so much less of the things that made me cranky in the first book. From Nowhere was a total hit that I could hardly put down.
Even when I don’t like this author’s stories, it’s never because of her writing. It’s usually because of character behavior.
But that is exactly what I loved about this story. Our hero is a single father who lost his wife in a terrible accident. Due to several issues, he finds it a challenge to have a relationship with the heroine, but he’s willing to try. The heroine is patient and understanding of those issues and never tries to make their relationship be anything more than the hero is able to have. And I LOVE stories about mature people having mature relationships, and dealing with real-life issues in a mature way. Even when the big conflicts happened - when the author could have taken the clichéd route and brought all the drama llama - the characters didn’t make matters worse by behaving like middle schoolers.
This book is the type I love to read. And I wish I could say I had confidence that this author would always give me what I like. But her record is about 50/50. Which is why I always pick up her books...I just do it with a little bit of trepidation.

From Nowhere is the second book in the Wildfire series, and it follows Maren and Ozzy’s whirlwind romance. We met Maren in From Air, as Fitz’s roommate and Jaimie’s best friend. I think what made me so excited to start From No Where, we got a good glimpse of Maren in From Air, and I really loved her character. She is sweet, caring, protective, and fierce in her own way and I couldn’t wait to read her love story. Ozzy is a new character and is a single dad/widower who is a mechanic that works on the plane that Maren flies. They meet in this really funny meet cute way, and from that point on we see these fun interactions between Maren and Ozzy. Their beautiful relationship is kept secret out of respect for Ozzy’s in-laws from his deceased wife. I felt like their relationship felt really natural and real. I can see how it could be a difficult situation to navigate for Ozzy, and I can see readers really finding their relationship relatable and comforting. Ozzy shows a great amount of patience and love towards his daughter that will make all readers swoon. Overall it was a great sequel to From Air, and Im crossing my fingers there is another book in this series because I LOVE THEM<3
4/5 ☆☆☆☆

Jewel E. Ann has delivered the second book in the Wildfire series, From Nowhere, and this read is emotional, sweet, funny, and all consuming. Maren is the witty roommate that we first met in book one, but is now the center of the story and Ozzy, is the single father trying to manage life with his daughter and in-laws. These two have a greet meet cute that leads to more interesting meet ups and a developing relationship. This author always knows how to tug at the emotions during a read and this one is no different between a father and his love for his daughter, while also dealing with some hurt in-laws, and a new relationship, there will be smiles, laughs, and even a tear or two. This Wildfire series heats up the pages while also bringing out all of the emotions.

What a great feel god story! I loved Maren and Ozzy. If you didn't read book 1 on the series--that's ok. This one stands on it's own pretty well. We do get to see Maren's roommates and hear some of the story line from the first book. Great friends to lovers story. And a single dad makes it even better in my book!
Lola is the heart of the story. Everything Ozzy does is with her in mind. Maren says she fell for Lola first. Really well written child character. Often times authors just throw in some lines because someone has a child. this felt more like she was a part of the romance.
Looking forward to the next book!
