Let me preface this by acknowledging that the term 'Ritual Magic' may have slightly different meanings in the US and UK. What Americans call Ceremonial Magic, we call Ritual Magic.
This includes things like Kabala, Thelema, Golden Dawn and Enochian, among others. What Frater Barrabbas tells us in his first chapter is that this is the advanced book to follow his previous beginner book (You did buy it, didn't you?) on the subject and will teach you to create your own rituals.
He further makes assumptions about the motivations and practices of all Ritual Magicians (Godhead? That's a Hindu concept!) which leave me wondering just who this book is directed at.
He does, however, show extensive knowledge of various systems and tools from the various branches of Ritual Magic and does a good job of presenting the idea of creating one's own system, using the materials and knowledge that has come from historical magical practice.
There were passages I fully agreed with and some where I was on the fence of not quite agreeing, but the part about verbal incantations is absolutely brilliant.
Overall I would say this book is worth reading if you're still learning about Ritual Magic or just about different paths, as it borrows freely from various systems, even the Wiccan cone of power, though his interpretation of its symbolism is unique.
Just like most modern books on magic(k), don't absorb everything as absolutes, but filter through your own understanding of the Magical Arts.
I loved the practicality of this book. As a practitioner for about 4 years there is a lot of things that keep repeating for me in literature like this, but this book gave me really good insight on a lot of topics I hadn't even thought of yet. Amazing.
This was a fantastic book, chock full of knowledge. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to deepen their rituals/ craft.
Mastering the Art of Ritual Magick is an excellent resource for any practitioner looking to build a solid foundation in ritual work. The author has distilled a rather impressive about of wisdom into a surprisingly short work on the topic. I highly recommend readers go for a physical copy of this title as they will surely want to annotate it with their thoughts.
I have yet to pick a book up by this author and not walk away having learned something. Actually quite many things. He is a fountain knowledge and every single book I have read leaves me looking for his next work. You will not be disappointed in this latest work by the author.
Mastering the art of ritual magick is another great book written by Frater Barrabbas. This book has a great deal of information and techniques on rituals. This includes different examples of traditions. This book will be a great resource for any advanced practitioner. I enjoy how much knowledge and research was put into this book.
