I’ll begin by saying that I have not read the prior books in this series, so in part, my thoughts are skewed simply because I had four books of relationships to figure out from context, and that was pretty hard!
This book was such a fun time. I wanted a cozy mystery and I got it! Just a coupla young folks solving crime and helping their neighbors. At times, I found it all a bit pedestrian and I was like, “okaaay get back to the mystery please.” But once I got about a third into the book, I realized that it didn’t actually bother me—and it helped with the not-having-read-the-other-books.
The mystery/mysteries were well presented and thought out, I sort of predicted but only because I like clues and am suspicious by nature. I still was surprised seeing how everything came together!
The romance between Bea and Ant felt a little under developed and a bit confusing at times. I didn’t really feel the chemistry between them? They spent so much of the book apart, so I wasn’t really rooting for them (aside from me always rooting for what is clearly the romance). Again, part of that is probably because I didn’t read the other books in the series, so I haven’t eased into what I’m assuming is a will they/won’t they slow burn situation.
Overall the writing was solid, the story was sweet, and I will def be checking out the others in this series. I have to figure out 1) who all these other characters are and if I should still be suspicious of Bob (idk, I got a vibe!) and 2) what happened to Bea in the allotment shed!!

Coming back to the characters from the supermarket is like a visit with old friends and catching up with anything new. I enjoyed this one a lot even though I've only read one other in series and there was no loss of continuity. The characters are so alive and the story is both entertaining and a good investigation. Loved it!
I requested and received a temporary uncorrected proof copy from Joffe Books via NetGalley. Thank you!

Love a good amateur sleuth read and this one was a lot of fun. I haven't read all the books in this series but have enjoyed the ones I have read.
A murder, a mystery and of course a checkout girl who will give her all to solve this crime.
This is a book that has it all. Humour, murder, mystery an annual Flower and Produce Show. Great characters, an easy to read story that still has some depth in the murder mystery story within the pages. I really do need to go back and find the first three books now too.
Thank you NetGalley and Joffe Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
I have not read the other books in the series but I didn’t feel at a disadvantage like you do sometimes. This is a modern cosy mystery that not only has a murder to be solved but also a theft and a romance between the main character's Bea and Ant. The story moves along at a good pace and held my interest though out. There were lots of twists and turns one of which I didn't see coming at all. Highly Enjoyable. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Fabulous return to the world of Costsave and our amateur detective duo of Ant and Bea. Lovely developments and realisations in their relationship with each other and also where the future may take them. Great dual mystery to piece together with some interesting twists to keep readers on their toes. Can't wait for the next one, hoping it'll be a wedding for Dot and Bob!
