A wonderful read!
This novel drew me in from the very first page and kept me hooked until the end. The characters were vibrant and relatable, the writing was engaging, and the story had just the right balance of heart and humor. Highly recommend!

If it has a fake marriage in it, I'm going to read it! I liked this read and would definitely recommend to romance lovers!

I enjoyed this romance. The meet-cute was a little cheesy but the relationship developed in a believable way and I found myself wanting to know what happened next and how/if the two protagonists would end up together. And it was just the right amount of spice! Definitely recommend.

I really enjoyed the pacing and the premise of this book! Filled with tension and yearning! I loved learning about the FMC and MMC separately.

I received an ARC of Somewhere Along the Line, and it completely delivered on its promise of humor, heart, and 90s romcom vibes!

Piper Paulson is finally getting her life back on track—new job, great roommate, and a firm no-dating rule after her ex wrecked her peace (and career). Meanwhile, James Newhouse is a hotshot banker with zero time for complications—especially not Piper, and especially not an impulsive decision to add her as his “wife” on a commuter pass to save her money.

What starts as a simple (and slightly ridiculous) arrangement quickly spirals when the two become accidental witnesses to a crime—as a married couple. Now, their fake marriage might have to last longer than expected, and with their undeniable chemistry heating up, keeping it all just an act is easier said than done.

This book had everything—witty banter, sizzling tension, and some truly laugh-out-loud moments (including Elvis impersonators, because why not?). Beyond the romance, it also explores what happens when life doesn’t go according to plan and how to rebuild a future that looks nothing like what you expected.

If you love fake marriage, opposites-attract, and the perfect blend of spice and swoon, Somewhere Along the Line is a must-read!

Being from Chicago I loved the idea of two strangers meeting on the L. What started as a meet cute became a fake marriage, but what I enjoyed was how it wasn't just flowers and sun, real life moments and feelings were there. It was different then the normal miscommunication trope, it was more real. Both Piper and James or 'Banker Man' were very likeable characters, I would like to have drinks or I would share a spot on the brown line with them.

If you love books with...
- fake dating
- marriage of convenience
- grumpy men who fall ~hard~
- a slow-ish burn with the best pay off
- a third act that makes sense (!!!!)
.... then you will LOVE to read Somewhere Along The Line!

It's spicy, it's cozy, it's the perfect book to binge when you're looking for an escape! You'll fall in love with James and Piper.

A cute, easy read to start off the New Year. Piper is two years away from the break up that not only broke her heart, but also blew up her life. She has spent the past two years rebuilding and rediscovering what it is that makes her happy, rather than simply doing what makes those around her happy. She has a job that makes her happy and she lives with her best friend. Life is good, even if she is taking home a much smaller paycheck than before. One day, Piper meets James on the train and the two somehow end up sharing a Family Fares account to save on the price of the train. They need to pretend they are married, but who's ever going to check?

When the pair witness a crime on the train, they suddenly need to make this only-real-online marriage look real so they start spending more time together. But the more time they spend together, real feelings start to develop.

I liked the book, but feel the marketing was maybe a bit off. It was described as 'spicy' which I feel is an exaggeration. There are a few steamy scenes, but I wouldn't call it a 'spicy book'. Also, I wouldn't necessarily call this fake dating either. They technically are faking a marriage, but only on paper. They don't have to fake any feelings or a relationship in any real capacity. I don't know, maybe I'm just being picky.

I really enjoyed this book.. I thought the main characters were so cute and found myself giggling so much when we were in James POV. They really misread each other a lot but they eventually figured it out. It was a wonderful nice read.

An opposites attract, fake marriage romance that tells the story of James and Piper who are both navigating their own lives while needing to find a way to protect themselves from testifying about an incident on their shared train ride. Thus, their fake marriage. What they don't count on is developing feelings for one another.

This was a sweet classic romance book. Nice and short. James and Piper were perfect gentle souls. It wasn't perfect and it wasn't absolutely world shattering but it was wholesome and fun.

This was such a cute and engaging story with one of my favorite tropes as of late - a marriage of convenience between strangers that eventually become lovers!

It was really nicely paced, and the characters I found myself rooting for them. Piper was just plain adorable and James? Oh my goodness I loved him but with Piper he was just so much better.

I really couldn't put this one down!

Thanks to NetGalley for the arc!!

Short and sweet is how I'd describe Somewhere Along the Line.

It wasn't earth shattering, but it wasn't the worst.

4.5 stars! ⭐️ I loved it soooo much. I needed an easy read and this delivered. Both main characters are so easy to relate to. Especially if you’re someone with anxiety 🙋🏽‍♀️

This book truly moved me!

One of my top reads for 2024 and I just gobbled it up.

I loved how the author focused on the growth of both characters and the growth of their relationship. I also appreciated how they were older and in the middle of their careers.

I couldn't put the book down at all.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK! This steamy, sweet and heartfelt romance was so well written. It was funny, emotional, witty and really tugged at the heartstrings. I couldn't put this down, I was rooting for these two lovebirds throughout every page and interaction.

What did I love:
- Dual POV (sometimes you need to see inside each character's head, because what they say and do has so much more meaning when you understand the 'why')
- Banter! Chemistry!
- The pacing of this was perfect, and the plot and romance worked hand-in-hand - neither took a back seat and they were seamlessly interwoven without becoming boring or making the reader lose track of what was going on.
- James - you sweeet, caregiver, warm man. James SHOWS his love, he takes care of people, he reads people. He doesn't make assumptions, he is emotionally intelligent, and just a wonderfully written MMC.
- Piper - complicated, traumatized but strong, phoenix Piper. Funny, hardworking, trying to really love and break down the walls she understandably built around her heart. She is smart, caring and the pure embodiment of sunshine. I loved her instantly.

Many many thanks to NetGalley, Mallory Thomas and Thomas Books for the ARC. This my unbiased and honest review.

This was very cute and sweet! I really liked the premise for this book, how they meet on the train and end up “fake” married, although the reason why they did felt a little bit far-fetched. I liked Piper and James a lot, and their relationship was so sweet and real. This was a cosy and cute quick read, and a great debut novel!
