This is a book well worth reading! Not drug out like some authors. Instantly engaging story that keeps you invested all the way through.

First I'm annoyed with myself that I waited so long to read this book. It had been buried in my TBR list. Second, I'm glad I finally read it and will be looking to read more by this author. Note, this title is #7 in the Louise Rick series. As the story opens, a woman has been found dead in the woods. Her death is seemingly an accident caused by a fall. However, Louise can not let go of the fact, that this woman seems to have appeared from nowhere and no one looking for her. Then a murder of a woman occurs in the same woods just days later. While working these cases, Louise is also having to get used to her new unconventional partner. Together they begin putting together pieces of a bizarre puzzle that goes back beyond 30 years.

This book was pretty good. Even though it's not the first in the series, it was ok to be read as a stand-alone. I would recommend it.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This story was so engrossing. It was packed with constant action and drama that kept me turning the pages. Louise Rick is a very complex character. I read the synopsis; I knew that she would somehow be related to all of these weird events occurring in the place she grew up. It was really fun to know that beforehand because I was constantly guessing how she fit in. As new events happened in the story, I would alter my prediction of her involvement. I didn't figure it out until the very end- which is a testament to the author and her writing style. The book always kept me on my toes. The mysterious twins were so much fun to read about - and the way their stories tied in with all the others was very entertaining.

I would definitely recommend this book if you like suspenseful murder mysteries, or if you enjoy being a reading detective!

I'm not one for mysteries but I very much enjoyed this one.
I was intrigued to find out exactly where Lisemette had come from and I rather liked Louise as the main character. She's an officer who's led by her curiosity when a dead woman is found who's supposed to have been dead for 30 years. There's more than this mystery going on too, so it was really a page-turner. Beautiful cover as well!
Thank you to Netgalley for the copy.

I must say that Sara Blaedel is one of my favorite Nordic Noir authors. I recommend her regularly. I know my life is insane when my favorite authors books fall to the wayside and that is what happened with this one.

So, this definitely wasn't my favorite in the Louise Rick series. This is an author who regularly garners 4/5 stars for books in this series. First off, the book was INCREDIBLY sad to me. From the topic to the victim's history, I found myself feeling big time feeling sympathy for a fictional character. I love when an author can pull that off. On that note, I also felt a disconnect to the actual story of resolving the mystery that is a new experience for me with this author. I have had it happen with each of my favorite authors so not something I am overly concerned with.

Even though this book may have garnered a 3 star review from me, doesn't mean I haven't recommended the series and the author any less.

This book is part of a series. I have not read the other books. In this book, police detective Louise Rick is the new commander of the Missing Persons Department in a town in Denmark. On her first day on the job, a corpse is found in the woods. Louise and her new partner, Eik, learn that the deceased woman had been in a home for retarded people and that she and her twin sister had been declared dead many years ago. Since Lisemette just died, they realize that her twin sister may still be alive. As they investigate the case, they become romantically involved and we learn that there are links to Louise's deceased boyfriend from over 20 years ago. I think that readers of the series will enjoy this book.

Definitely worth reading. At first I wasn't sure because the story seemed a bit stilted. But a few pages in I forgot all about that and got caught up in the plot.

I think the book was pretty much what I expected it to be. It was good, some parts better than others, but not great. It was just lacking something to give it that wow factor. A few times the detective said something where I thought, of course it makes sense if something else happened or how has she not made that connection yet?

The story twists didn't feel very twisty because I seemed to figure out bits before the MC. I even figured out the end before she did. So, the story was good and interesting, but not thrilling or edge-of your-seat at all. There were also some parts that weren't necessarily meant to be twists, which I saw coming before they occurred. Not too much unexpected.

This is the fourth book in a series and I did not read the three that came before it, so I was a bit out of the loop relationship wise and with character development. The author did a nice job of catching the reader up on these bits, but by reviewing past relationships, etc, it gives the book a feeling of being part of a series and reminds the reader that you're missing bits. However, I didn't feel compelled to go back and read the previous books to see what I'd missed.

Overall, a good book, but not a favorite. I still enjoyed it and I would read more in the series, probably starting from the beginning, but I don't have a real desire to run out and purchase one right away.

I was completely taken in by Forgotten Girls. Despite the fact that I could have gotten the next book from NetGalley, I went and purchased it because I knew it was going to be love.
