Kate has a lot on her plate and intends to expand her business in honor of her sister. She’s up against her ex in an unexpected twist where he returns to town to steal her dream and business model once again.
At first I expected a second chance romance but as he turned more and more into a jerk, I was glad Kate had Micah, friends, and employees in her corner. Micah was so sweet and a solid love interest but I just could not seem to relate to Kate or find her very likable. I pushed through when I normally would have dnfed, hoping her arc would change my mind. The ending is decent but I’m left feeling a little meh about it as a whole.
Thanks Bethany House for the gifted copy. All thoughts are my own.

“I had to wait twenty-seven years to kiss you again. If we go any slower, I may be too old to remember who you are.”
I have been waiting eagerly for Kate’s story since meeting her on the pages of Julia Monroe Begins Again, and it was everything I hoped it would be – and more. The wit and swooniness and faith that I loved about Julia’s story is back in spades, even though the humor is slightly different to reflect Kate’s personality this go-around. After all, she IS the heroine of this novel – her name is even part of the title – so it’s only fair. Her first person narrative sets the tone for the story, and I frequently found myself chuckling at her quirky expressions or her run-ins with the crazy parrot (C’est Fou!). Or her ‘please let the floor swallow me up right now’ moments with Micah (we definitely know he’s head over heels for her when he willingly keeps pursuing her after a couple of these lol). She, like Julia, is exactly the kind of character I would want to be friends with in real life, and I really enjoyed getting to know her better in this story. I also appreciated her character growth – emotional and spiritual – as she deals with a myriad of pressures and stressors, including being both aunt & guardian to her 13-year-old niece (who desperately wants a dog and isn’t afraid to pull out all the – hilarious – manipulations to get one).
For his part, Micah takes the crazier parts of Kate’s life with a steadiness of spirit and a single-minded pursuit of her heart. I loved that he was her first kiss, way back in seventh grade, and let’s just say that kissing her is something he’s very good at. (Have mercy!) Perhaps what I loved most of all about Micah is that he sees her at her worst (or at least not her best) in their first few re-encounters… and sets out to woo her anyway. Isn’t that what we are all looking for – someone to love us even when we’re puking into a gumbo pot or leaving awkward messages meant for someone else or… running ahead of God and losing sight of what really matters? Micah has his own layers and hurts that tugged at my heart, and I adored his earnest affection for Kate and his mentoring of her niece, too. And whew… talk about some swoonilicious romantic tension!! I had to break out my fan for all the sparks sizzling between Micah and Kate – even before they start kissing and certainly after!
Bottom Line: What do you get when you combine a swoony library hunk with a penchant for Hawaiian shirts, a somewhat neurotic but bighearted cafe owner who’s raising her moody-but-delightful 13-year-old niece, an ugly dog, a crazy parrot, a little drama, a little laughter, a little kissing, a little Jesus, and all the mouth-watering beignets you could ever want? A must-read, and that’s exactly what Kate Landry Has a Plan by Rebekah Millet is! Not only are Micah and Kate the perfect protagonists for this story, but so is the colorful supporting cast that just filled up my heart. (Special shout-out to Mrs. Adelaide who had me literally laughing out loud and then wanting to wrap her up in a big hug.) I loved everything about this book, just like Millet’s debut novel, and I’m already eager for my next visit to New Orleans courtesy of this author’s witty writing voice, fun characters, and engaging plots. If you want a reader heart that’s lighter, a spirit that feels you’ve spent time with God, and a swooner (is that a thing?) that’s been fed some great fictional kisses, then make sure you read Kate Landry Has a Plan ASAP!
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)

Book 2 in the Beignets for Two is set during New Orleans’ Mardi Gras madness and forty-year-old Kate Laundry finds herself in a rather sticky situation when her first-ever crush returns to town as the hunky local librarian. As if running a cafe and raising a teenager weren’t hard enough for her, add to the mix a meddlesome ex-fiancé. And somehow falling in love in the Big Easy has gotten more difficult if not complicated.
The misadventures in this book was incredibly hilarious and wildly entertaining. I am fond of stories set in The French Quarters and during the high season, anything is bound to happen especially with a second chance romance! I absolutely enjoyed the colorful cast of characters, inclusion of animals, and also the intrusive ex; it was the perfect balance of fun and friction. Because book two was such a delicious and delightful read, I do not want to miss out and will be catching up with the first in the series. Kate Laundry is a very relatable main character and so easy to like. Her story is indicative of how a carefully crafted plan can suddenly turn into one of life’s best and sugary blissful mess.

I’ve been loving the second chance romance, trope. I literally cannot get enough. This one is the sweetest second chance with so much funny banter, and drama.
Kate and Micah were so cute. Both of them are in their 40s and navigating life and them finding love again was so much fun to watch play out. I love kids Café in New Orleans (another favorite rope restaurant/cafe/food). Kate adopted her niece Hayley who is now a teen and is doing her best. I truly loved their relationship it was so relatable. Each character had their own quirks and made this book so much.
I truly enjoyed the Christian elements throughout this one. There was a large focus on God and religion, and I appreciate it the way Rebekah Millet brought it out. There was a wonderful message about God‘s will.

There are so many things to love about this book that I am struggling about where to start! Well, for one - the setting! The author immerses the reader into the NOLA culture from the very first page! I loved learning about the various aspects of life in the Big Easy. Okay, let's talk about Kate. She's relatable and endearing. I was rooting for her HEA even as I was laughing at all her antics. Another factor in this story I absolutely loved? The friendships. The sisterly bond between Kate and Julia was everything. This just isn't talked of enough in stories, but let me say that we all need a Kate Landry in our life.
And can I even exit this review without talking about Micah? I think not. He's a total cinnamon roll of a hero, and I adored his character. I LOVED every interaction he had with Kate. Their chemistry was spot on.
I can gush on and on about this story because it hit all the right notes! So excited to see what this author writes next!
I received a copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Kate Landry most definitely has a plan, and it’s to try to survive and keep all the plates spinning in her life. This girl has so much going on, but she is focused, driven, and real.
This is such a sweet story with all the swooniness and charm that you could possibly imagine. I loved the snarky inner dialogue of Kate Landry and all the shenanigans she endures while raising a teenager, dealing with a toxic ex, running a successful business, and fighting the attraction to her childhood crush, all while enjoying the unique environment that is New Orleans.
The monthly parent dinner with Kate’s parents gives major Gilmore Girls vibes, which you know I’m always here for, and I loved all of the quirky side characters. The writing is wonderful, the flow natural, and there were so many moments that captured my heart! Kate felt so down-to-earth and relatable, and I loved seeing a glimpse into her world.

I love Rebekah Millet's novels! I wasn't sure I could enjoy one more than Julia Monroe Begins Again, but then she wrote Kate Landry Has a Plan. Happy sigh.
Forty-year-old Kate's plan for life and business is near and dear to her heart. She's done her best to follow it despite a tragedy that completely reshaped her life 10+ years ago. When two men from her past - her scheming ex-fiance and a childhood friend - reappear, her orderly life is thrown into chaos. Can Kate navigate these complications to practice forgiveness and find peace?
Set in New Orleans at Mardi Gras, this opposites attract romance has great humor, heart, and an undercurrent of faith. I loved Kate and Micah - they felt so real, doing their best to deal with the personal and professional challenges many of us face in our 40s. Julia, the heroine of Ms. Millet's debut novel, plays an important role in this story, and it was fun to reconnect with her. The only aspect I didn't love was that Kate's mother and father felt like copies of Lorelai's parents from Gilmore Girls.
I'm so curious about the author's next novel since it feels like the Beignets for Two series is complete. Whatever its plot, I'll be reading it!

Kate Landry's life is full. She's raising her niece and running a successful business. Her 20-year-plan is working.
Until an amazing new business expansion opportunity comes up, her niece is suddenly singularly focused on getting a dog, and a childhood friend with the potential to be more returns to her life. On top of all this, a wild parrot has suddenly taken to wreaking havoc all over her courtyard, adding daily frustration on top of her more pressing matters.
Kate Landry Has a Plan is a story about seeking God, forgiving others, and keeping priorities straight. Kate's past hurts greatly affect her present, clouding her decision-making skills. Through the course of the novel, she is gently reminded by the people in her life about which risks are worth pursuing and which should be regarded with more caution.
I liked Kate as a parent to her niece, and I loved the hero Micah Guidry. The New Orleans culture shines through this novel and you'll feel like you're strolling through the streets of the Big Easy and tasting their distinctive cuisine. The animal characters also add a lot to the story.
I would recommend this novel to fans of humorous novels with deep themes.
I received my copy of the book from the author. All thoughts in this review are my own.

So much love for this sweet, opposites attract, Southern romcom! Kate Landry Has A Plan is the perfect title for this delightful type A heroine whose world is turned upside down by a Hawaiian shirt lovin’, unforgettable first kiss, handsome librarian! Rebekah Millet’s crafted another unforgettable, funny, endearing sequel in the Beignets for Two series.
I absolutely loved this book! Kate’s the strait-laced, hyper organized cafe owner who never wanted children, but became a mother when her beloved sister died. Now she’s all in. But, when the opportunity to expand her business & fulfill her sister’s dream comes during Mardi Gras, she finds herself competing for the property with her conniving ex-fiancé. Then there’s the new librarian, her first crush & first kiss, who’s returned to New Orleans to care for his father. Can this forty year old juggle it all especially when it’ll take all her faith & courage to open her heart to new possibilities?
Micah Guidry’s the perfect balance for Kate. He’s calm, laidback, & ooh so swoony! I loved the way he discombobulates her. Betrayals in Kate’s past make her reluctant to fall in love, but the hunky librarian really gets under her skin. After all these years, she still remembers her 7th grade first kiss with him & imagines what it might be like to kiss him again. Micah has his own past sorrows & issues dealing with his father’s condition, but he finds a way to make library activities creative & fun & slowly eases his way into Kate’s heart.
Filled with humor, faith, romance, & depth, this story touched my heart & didn’t let go. I loved the crazy animals who make Kate want to scream, & her darling teenage niece Hayley whom she wants desperately to be a better mom to. Kate struggles with trying to do it all & I loved how she recognizes what’s most important. I also loved seeing Julia from the first book & seeing her heartfelt friendship with Kate continue in this story.
Highly recommend this amazing story! Looking forward to Rebekah Millet’s next book. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own & voluntarily provided.

“Cowering Chihuahuas!” “Pitiful pit bulls!” and a “bridal bouquet targeting me like a deployed missle.” Oy, vey, mix very creative clean swearing with hilarious, slightly sardonic attitude of our forty-something single narrator, you know we’re in for a barrel of laughs with Kate Landry Has a Plan, penned by the fabulous Rebekah Millet. Add in a setting of a St. Charles St. ( middle of Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans)café, a best friend who is a love- life meddler, a jr. high school crush returned 20 years later, ooh, la, la!! Laissez le bon temps rouler!! ( Let the good times roll!)
What amazes me, is that in the midst of these laugh-a minute- pages, are tucked in faith nuggets and truths that Micah ( the jr. high crush returned as local librarian), Julia ( bff), and Mariah, the once-jilted narrator, share and ruminate on. After all, Kate Landry and her now-deceased sister had a plan for their lives. And Kate is bound and determined to follow it. But as Kate pursues her path, she puts at risk her friendships, a chance at a new love, and her relationship with her adopted teenage niece.
Julia confronts her. “‘Have you been praying on this?’ Gentleness layered her tone. A dull ache began throbbing in my head. ‘Of course.’ ‘And listening for direction?’ ‘Yes.’ I rested my elbows on the table, massaging my temples. ‘And I’m not hearing anything.’ ‘Maybe you need to give it more time.’” How many times do we go ahead and act, after praying, when we haven’t heard an answer? Our earthly timeline becomes more important than God’s ability to see the future and map out the perfect plan.
And my heart hurt. Both Kate and Micah have painful pasts, plus Kate has helicopter parents who are still trying to squish her into a very shallow mold. I watched as Kate gets busier and busier with her plan ( ouch) disregarding godly advice from friends.
But don’t be fooled! Just because there are solid faith moments, the laughs never stop!! ( And how better to help us remember those important parts!) Meet C’est Fou ( gotta love that name!!), an animal bane of Kate’s existence. Or the “ugly” pet Kate has to put up with (although I take offense, as a lover of that breed). As Kate’s mind spins between the ugly physical practical animal issues and her out-of-control business, will she lose sight of the plan God has for her?
I did not get a chance to read the first book in the series, Julia Monroe begins Again. Mistake. This book can be enjoyed without the first, but it would be so much richer knowing Julia’s story first and how Kate figures into that!
Fave secondary character? Probably Julia, possibly Mrs. Adélaide.
I received a copy of the book from JustRead Tours via NetGalley. I also bought my own book. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own.
Notable Quotables:
“You don’t need an apology from someone to forgive them. And believe me, in this case, forgiving Ryan isn’t for him. It’s for you.”- Julia
“Just because God says not now, doesn’t mean not ever.”- Julia
“…you like helping people’s dreams come true.” - Micah
“You’ve got this, because God has you.”- Mayté
“Instead of praying and truly listening, I’d run headlong into my selfish desires. My old, sinful nature wanted control. But time after time, God had proven His ways were perfect for me.” - Kate

This was such a fun book to read! As a 40-something female reader, it is a refreshing read to occasionally read a book about an older heroine, and this book gives just that!
Kate is fun & funny, I loved getting to know her better (this is the 2nd book in a series, but could also be read as a stand-alone).
Seeing her, as a single aunt, parent her niece, and all the challenges that that entailed was realistic while also entertaining.
I enjoyed seeing her relationship grow and blossom into more.
This book had me laughing at times, while also provoking some serious thoughts.
If you enjoy a clean, fun rom-com, then give this one a try!

Kate Landry Has a Plan is book two in a delicious romantic comedy with a hint of mystery series that you won’t want to miss! What a fun and tasty treat! And yes, it has me wanting pure sugar, delicious baked goods, but I just don’t feel like baking them today.
Kate is forty. And she’s trying to expand her business. While also trying to raise her niece. Oh, and let’s just throw in a super hot was her first crush back in town, now as the new librarian, to the mix. Wait! Cannot forget the ex-fiance who likes to make things miserable.
I loved this. The characters are wonderful. There is so much in here that is going to have you laughing and giggling. Plus, you’re going to love the characters and root for them. You might have a few eye rolls as well. I mean, I did.
Hayley is the teenage niece, and I feel she’s very typical of your teenage girl. I mean, she’s like mine in that they love to go to the library. Our library doesn’ have a hunky librarian though. But this is a great way to throw Kate and Mitch together!
Mitch ends up swooping in and saving the day multiple times and it’s fun to watch his and Kate’s relationship change and grow. This is definitely a must read!

"A small ache throbbed in my throat. Chin up. I stood and approached the enclosed timeline, focusing on Claire's looping signature and our game plan, which had been a saving grace. It gave me purpose. Something tangible to complete when the world felt out of control."
Kate Landry likes her plan. Well, all of her plans. Veering away from the life she has intended makes her nervous. As her niece, whom she is raising, enters the teen years, she isn't sure how to relate. And when an old friend re-enters her life and wants to restart a relationship with her, she is uncertain. Will she be able to learn that following God results in a better life than she could ever imagine on paper?
This is the second book in Rebekah Millet's "Beignets for Two" series. One could certainly start with this book, but I am glad that I read "Julia Monroe Begins Again" first. Julia is Kate's best friend and does appear several times in this title. This series is set in Louisiana.
I really enjoyed the characters in this book. Kate is a bit rigid at times, but readers are given a glimpse into her background that explains why she feels the need for so much structure. Micah is such a lovely hero - I love the longtime connection between the two characters and how he entered her life again. The love story is sweet. The faith element is perfect. There are definitely some funny moments. And the connection to the local library adds a lovely touch!
I did read an early copy of this book for a book tour. I couldn't wait to read the book, and I wanted to review it. All opinions are my own!

Kate has a detailed plan in place for her life, arranged with her sister - and the death of that sister, though disruptive to the plan, has only cemented her determination to fulfil it. But the reappearance of Micah, her first kiss back in high school, interrupts everything. Or at least, it would do so if he had a say in the matter - and, annoyingly, he's very hard to ignore, and doesn't seem to understand 'only friends'. When an opportunity arises to fast-forward her plan, with the potential of being now or never, she's thrown into further confusion, not improved by the return of her manipulative ex-boyfriend Ryan. Can Kate keep a hold on what matters in life amidst the turmoil? And can Micah convince her that her plan really may not be the right plan for her life after all?
I'm not really the planning type, so I did find it a little hard to connect with Kate, while Micah was perhaps too far the other way. The result was a book that I enjoyed but didn't really sink into fully ever. However, it was still a solid four-star read, with interesting characters, a busy but well-paced plot, some reminders of God, a handy villain (or two, if the bird counts!) and an appropriate amount of enjoyable quirkiness. I particularly liked Haley's part in it all, from doing her own thing to plotting their relationship to, well, reacting to things (trying to avoid spoilers here). Taking on a young niece couldn't be easy, and this presents it beautifully. I loved the theme of planning and the need at times to change plans and re-prioritise to focus on what's really important in life. All in all, a good read.
Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

What a delight! This story was so sweet, romantic, funny, and tender. I loved it!
The main characters were so lovable, and it made me happy to see their relationship and romance grow. They’re opposites of each other, but so perfect together.
The writing was excellent, the storyline hooked me from beginning to end, and I loved the New Orleans setting! The descriptions of the food, music, and culture swept me away. It certainly gave me some major cravings for beignets!
I loved the humor and the swoony romance, but this story also has a lot of depth to it as it touches on some heavy topics. The mix was nicely balanced, making for an engaging, moving, and absolutely charming story.
I received a copy from Bethany House and Austenprose PR via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are completely my own.

Rebekah Millet’s Kate Landry Has a Plan is exactly what it sounds like - Girl has a plan. Man interrupts her plan. Can Kate learn to duck, swerve, and pivot, or will she miss out on the opportunities God has laid before her?
This book took me a while to get into. The beginning felt a little awkward, and I felt like I was nearly halfway into the story before I really started looking forward to picking it up each day.
One thing in particular that fans of the Gilmore Girls series may enjoy about Millet’s book is the many similarities between Kate Landry Has a Plan and the show. From a pretentious rich grandmother to a single “mom” who manages her own business, the story feels inspired by the Gilmores. I also enjoyed that even though the book had a happy ending, it wasn’t the traditional expected ending; it was well-thought out and thought provoking, and I was excited that the author went a more unique route.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I enjoyed reading Kate Landry Has a Plan, the second book in Rebekah Millet’s Beignets for Two series set in New Orleans. Kate is a busy single parent who’s raising her thirteen-year-old niece, Hayley. They live above Beignets and Books Cafe, that Kate inherited from her grandmother in the Garden District on Saint Charles Avenue.
It’s Mardi Gras season and Kate holds functions in her renovated cafe courtyard. The story opens with a Bridezilla delaying Kate at the cafe, which makes her run late to collect Hayley from the library. Kate calls the librarian and leaves an apology message.
When Kate arrives at the library, she’s mortified to discover the new temporary librarian, who listened to her embarrassing phone message, is Micah. He was Kate’s first crush in seventh grade and their library meet cute is awkward and amusing.
Micah’s back in town to help care for his father after living in Colorado since college. The story is in first person from Kate’s point of view, and we learn more about Micah, including why his marriage didn’t last, as the story progresses.
I enjoyed journeying with Kate in the story. She’s a go-getter with business smarts and a quirky sense of humor who adores her niece. Hayley loves hanging out at the library, which means Kate can’t avoid seeing Micah. Hayley is also desperate to own a puppy.
Kate and Micah’s romance is delightful and sweet. They have many problems to overcome, including how to implement Kate’s plan. I loved how all the story threads came together in a satisfying story ending. The charming New Orleans setting, with its unique culture, food and delicious beignets, provided a beautiful backdrop for the story. The fascinating and quirky cast of side characters, and the animals in the story, added many humorous moments.
I recommend Kate Landry Has a Plan to contemporary romance readers who like midlife second chances romances set in New Orleans with family drama and a relevant faith element in the story.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher. Many thanks to Bethany House for the advanced reader copy. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Kate Landry Has a Plan was such a fun and heartfelt read! I loved watching Kate realize that life doesn’t always go according to plan — and that’s okay. Her journey of learning to let go and embrace the unexpected was so relatable. And let’s talk about the parrot drama! Those chaotic moments had me laughing out loud and added such a quirky charm to the story.
What really made this book shine for me was the relationships. Micah was an absolute sweetheart, the kind of hero who’s patient, steady, and completely devoted. I adored how he never gave up on Kate and was willing to fight for their second chance. But the heart of the story was Kate’s bond with her niece, Hayley. Their relationship was so beautiful and full of love. There was a lot of adapting and learning involved, but in the end, it stole the show for me. I also really love how Kate finally stood up to her parents! This was a warm, engaging read with just the right mix of humor, faith, heart, and romance!

Thank you to the author, Bethany House, and Austenprose for a gifted copy. My thoughts are my own.

Set in New Orleans with beignets playing a part in the story I found my mouth watering for them. Kate Landry owns a cafe in New Orleans set in her grandmother’s mansion that features her beignet recipe. Kate’s life has taken unexpected turns as she is raising her niece. When two men from her past reappear life gets more complicated as Kate has to figure out what they want and what it means for her future. This is a story of faith, family and found family, community, and figuring out your path. There were moments that had me laughing out loud and moments I was worrying right along with Kate. I recommend this book to readers that enjoy stories of family, second chances at love, and life taking unexpected twists.

This book was so cute. Fun, with likeable characters, a sweet story, and some added drama. And a witty love interest for Kate. It was a great, wholesome book!
This clean romance really was the whole package. I appreciated all of the mini storylines, along with the main romance, and they all contributed to the story so well. I’m love how it all came together in the end, with all ends tied up.
It was also funny. So many laughable moments, and the characters themselves helped make it enjoyable! They were quirky, yet funny. And each character added so much.
It was a sweet friends to lovers book, with cute characters, a Gilmore Girls vibe (to an extent), and wholesome characters. A fun one to help end the month!
