Kate Landry Has a Plan by Rebekah Millet hosts an adorable cover for the feel-good story inside. As I read this contemporary romance, I loved the influential and unique setting. New Orleans culture saturated everything: the food, the characters’ experiences, and the plot events. Millet wrote of The Big Easy in a way that only one who has lived there can.
I appreciated the balance of humor, depth, and romance in Kate Landry Has a Plan. I grinned often, especially when I identified with Kate’s calamities, and these light moments balanced out the family drama, the control issues, and the stress Kate experienced. Then, time and again, the romantic scenes took me by surprise. I’d read along, enjoying the gentle romance, until an unexpected, swoony moment with Kate and Micah would plop on to the page. All in all, the novel’s structure felt well-rounded and satisfying.
Kate Landry Has a Plan lands as the second book in the Beignets for Two series by Rebekah Millet. I enjoyed seeing Julia from book one, but this novel can stand alone without reading the first book (Julia Monroe Begins Again). I recommend this novel for readers who enjoy inspirational romances with swoony moments and just-enough depth. Four stars!
Disclosure of Material Connection: I was provided a copy of this book by the author or publisher. All opinions in this review are my own.

Are you a planner? I’m an engineer so I definitely like plans and lists. I am a day behind on posting this review as I wasn’t feeling so well yesterday.
Kate Landry is the forty-year-old owner of a café in New Orleans. She is raising her niece Hayley after her beloved sister’s death. Kate and her sister had a plan for growing their café business and Kate is determined to stick to the plan. Carefully laid plans don’t always go as imagined. Kate’s first kiss, Micah, is back in town and is working at her local library. Hayley spends a lot of her time at the library. Her ex-fiancé and nemesis, Ryan, is also back in town. Will Kate be able to realize her and her sister’s plan for a second café location while also keeping the rest of her life on track?
My thoughts on this novel:
• I love the New Orleans setting - it was so fun.
• Kate Landry being forty made me love all her flashback references such as Sarah McLachlan’s song “Angel” on the sad animal commercials, Uncle Jesse from Full House, Paula Abdul, and more.
• I love her clean epithets such as Sarah McLachlan!!
• This novel had excellent well-developed three-dimensional characters with great growth through the novel.
• The characters seemed very real, and the story was unique. A woman who is raising her sister’s daughter, difficult relationships with parents, grief, trust issues, caring for elderly parents/grandparents, and bad ex-boyfriends were all themes.
• Faith was important for Kate and was discussed throughout the novel.
• I didn’t realize this was a series until I finished the book and looked to add my review to Goodreads. It was great as a standalone, but I need to read the first book which is the story of Kate’s best friend Julia and her romance. This series is called Beignets for Two.
• I love the great love story between two mature forty-year-old adults. Micah is an understanding and caring male librarian. AKA – every woman’s dream man.
• The novel had many real world difficult and emotional conversations.
• This book had the theme of family is what you make of it and not what you are born into.
Overall, Kate Landry Has a Plan by Rebekah Millet is a delightful rom com with wonderful three-dimensional characters and a wonderful overall story. I want to read more of this story!

Another fantastic story by Rebekah! While Julia Monroe Begins Again had more of a romance feel to it, I felt this one had a stronger emphasis on faith. Was it a romance? Absolutely! But it was also so much more, with the central theme being the importance of aligning your life with God's plan and timing, rather than our own. Kate tried hard to make her plans come to life, all with the best intentions. However, even the best intentions aren't always God's perfect plan for us. It wasn’t until she slowed down, paid attention to the world around her, and refocused that she was able to step into the beautiful future God had prepared for her. The same could be said for Micah. He faced many disappointments before reconnecting with Kate, but when he saw her again, he knew she was meant to be a part of his future, and I loved that. If there’s such a thing as a perfect MMC, Micah was as close as it gets!
And I have to mention, this book had me laughing out loud so many times! It's definitely one you don’t want to miss. If you have the chance, also be sure to check out Julia Monroe Begins Again.
I received a complimentary copy, and this review reflects my honest opinion.

"You don't let a lot of people in, but the ones who you do...That's where I want to be."
Kate Landry has a plan—but life doesn’t always follow the blueprint. Between running her café, raising her teenage niece, and facing her ex, the last thing she expects is for her childhood crush, Micah, to walk back into town as the new librarian. As Mardi Gras chaos swirls around her, Kate finds herself confronting old feelings, unexpected challenges, and the realization that sometimes the best plans are the ones we never saw coming.
I saw so much of myself in Kate—her approach to life, her emotions, her personality. This book hit all the right notes and was an absolute joy to read. While it's the second in a series, it can easily be read as a standalone. What I loved most is how real and grounded it feels, tackling the ups and downs of life in such an authentic way. Sometimes, when plan A, B, or C doesn't work, we discover that plan L, M, or N might be just as good—if not better. The Christian themes are woven in beautifully, adding depth without feeling forced. And let’s not forget the romance! Kate is basically a mom to everyone around her, balancing caretaking, business struggles, and personal heartache, while Micah has his own battles to fight. Their journey is one of love, second chances, and trust.
This book is an absolute journey. A big, beautiful New Orleans journey.
Read this if you like beignets, New Orleans vibes, women's fiction plus romance, heartfelt moments, and believing in a higher power to get you through life's ups and downs.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Content/Trigger: mention of death of loved ones, caretakers, brief mention of infertility, some crude humor, difficult family relationships, romance—kisses only.

Sarah McLachlan! Was this book ever fantastic! I absolutely adore Rebekah's sense of humor so I spent a good bit of this book chuckling and giggling and laughing out loud. The nod to Gilmore Girls with Kate's parents was perfect! Hayley's bid for a dog was hilarious! Cest Fou - well, you have to read it to see what that's all about... (but that was definitely one of my favorite parts!) And then there's the hunky librarian. [insert swooning here] The romance was *chef's kiss! I love how Rebekah brings New Orleans to life for the reader, drawing us into the setting. I'm looking forward to rereading this one via audiobook because I enjoyed the narrator in the first book and she reads this one as well.

Rebekah Millet delivers a heartwarming and humorous romance in Kate Landry Has a Plan, a delightful story filled with charm, faith, and New Orleans flair.
Kate Landry is a determined, goal-oriented woman with everything carefully mapped out—until life (and a certain handsome librarian) throws a few curveballs her way. Enter the hero, who, with his Chris Pratt, Jurassic World vibe, is equal parts swoon-worthy and steadying. His quiet strength, especially in moments of caretaking when Kate is sick, makes him impossible not to fall for. Their opposites-attract dynamic keeps the pages turning, and Kate’s inner monologue adds plenty of humor and relatability.
Set against the vibrant backdrop of New Orleans, complete with beignet cafés, Mardi Gras energy, and a few laugh-out-loud bird antics, this story shines with both heart and humor. Fans of Pepper Basham, Gilmore Girls, and sweet romance with a medium faith thread will find much to love. While there are themes of grief and caretaking trauma, the story remains uplifting, culminating in a satisfying happily ever after.
A must-read for those who enjoy sweet, opposites-attract romances with depth, charm, and a librarian hero worth swooning over!

This story transported me straight to New Orleans! While it started a bit slowly, I was hooked by about a third of the way in, Kate's struggle to balance "all the things" in her life really resonated with me, and I appreciated the growth she experienced when she realized her limitations. Micah was the sweetest male main character, and I love that he was a librarian! I also enjoyed the faith elements that were included. They were handled in a way that felt authentic and not cheesy.

Oh, reading this has me missing New Orleans! And I’m craving some beignets too!
This was such a fun cozy read that I just didn’t want to put down. I found the writing style to be quirky and cute with several chuckle-worthy moments sprinkled throughout.
I loved following Kate as she navigates life trying to balance being the guardian for her niece and owning a cafe in New Orleans. I adored Kate's inner monologue, she had me giggling at her rambling thoughts, there often was no filter especially when it came to her love interest, Micah. Seeing the two of them together was so endearing. He was so caring and understanding towards Kate. And watching Kate allow herself to love again and fall in love was so cute.
But it wouldn’t have been nearly as entertaining without some drama! And oh boy, is there drama. We get to watch Kate rival with her ex-fiance, who’s eyeing a potential spot in the French Quarter that Kate’s late sister dreamt of having for their cafe’s second location. Honestly, this story plot was my favorite part to follow. While as much as I loved her romance with Micah, I was solely invested in seeing how this part was going to play out and felt this was the main focus of the book. And not only was there drama with her ex about this location, but also with her parents, more so her mother, which had played into the cafe and the ex-fiance business as well.
Normally, I find myself being able to predict what will happen with contemporary romances, but this one I couldn’t. And I loved that! I had absolutely no idea what was going to happen. I found myself on the edge of my seat trying to guess what was going to happen. But as I continued through the book, more details around her parents and her ex would come out that I didn’t know what to expect.
One other thing I felt noting, is that this is noticeably Christian Fiction. And by that I mean, the focus of religion is very prevalent in this one. I’ve read other Christian Fiction that the touch of religion was very minor, this was one I felt it was more in the forefront in comparison to others. Such as, Kate has a strong belief in god, and we have several scenes set attending church service and see Kate often sending little prayers throughout the entire book. None of this I minded, but I felt worth noting for others. Just looking at the cover and synopsis, I wouldn’t have known this was categorized as Christian Fiction if I hadn’t seen it listed on Goodreads.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this one! If you enjoy drama-filled contemporary romances with a New Orleans setting, I definitely recommend picking this one up!

Rachel Scott McDaniel said that "this book is everything," and I would have to agree. One of the things I've learned from this book is something that we should all take to heart: all we have to do in order to avoid pushups is cut beads down from trees!
Ok, but for real, this book is sensational. It didn't have all the laugh-out-loud moments for me like Julia Monroe did, but that didn't diminish my joy in reading this story. This novel is about digging deep into yourself and finding that you have things to work on. Things like forgiveness, contentment, idolatry, grief, and emotional baggage. Pretty sure we probably all have some forms of each thing listed there.
There were many lighthearted moments as well as very deep ones. I had a moment of chills and some of tears. Watching Kate with her niece was beautiful. I adored their relationship. There were also some people that I wanted Mrs. Adélaide to have her way with. And of course there's Micah. You can't go wrong with a good looking librarian!
Great book. Now I'm gonna do some exercise and cut beads out of trees!
~I was given a complimentary copy of this book. No positive review was required and all opinions are my own.~

Friendship, faith, fun, and flirting present a winning combination in author Rebekah Millet's newest release, Kate Landry Has a Plan.
Cafe owner Kate Landry is a busy lady. She owns a cafe and is raising her teenaged niece. Side note: I visited New Orleans for the first time last September and had my first taste of beignets. Oh. My. Stars. I am craving them after reading this book! Back to the subject at hand....Kate also wants to expand. This is a woman with plans. But plans don't always go according to...plan. Let the zaniness begin! Top that with her middle school crush, Micah, returning to town, a handsome-as-can-be librarian. He is swoon worthy! Kate and Micah both have been through some experiences. Will the Lord take these two hearts and set them on a path together? You will most definitely want to find out in this treat of a read! I loved it and hope there will be another from this author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but my opinion is entirely my own.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for this #gifted book!*

Title: Kate Landry Has a Plan
Author: Rebekah Millet
Genre: Contemporary Romance/Romcom
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Synopsis: Kate Landry always has a plan A, and B, and C, and possibly D…for everything including her restaurant, her relationships, and just life in general. But when the man who gave her her first kiss shows back up in her life, all those plans go off the rails. Micah Guidry is divorced and single and now infiltrates Kate’s life since he works at the library where Kate’s niece who she is raising spends most days. With parenting a teen, running a business, and trying to decide what those futures look like, Micah and Kate’s revived feelings for him do not fit into the plan. But as her interest grows and circumstances change, can Kate learn to adapt and be ready to receive what God has in store for her? Perhaps Someone else is even a better planner than she is.
Analysis: I love that there is now a place for older romance in the Christian fiction world! Rebekah Millet fills a spot for the middle-age reader. With characters that have faced some difficult circumstances and have to deal with adulthood challenges, this book fills a slot for those who still have plans and dreams. While the start was a little slow for me, I absolutely loved the end. And if you love animals, you’ll really appreciate the variety of creatures in this book. There’s humor, faith, and slow-burn romance, but the sweet attraction was worth the wait. I loved that Micah was in it for the long haul while Kate sorted through everything she needed to. Ultimately, this book helps to focus on the One who holds the ultimate plan and purpose for our lives, and I’d highly recommend for anyone who still looking for that hope in their future.
Star Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
*I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This book is such a wonderful continuation of the Beignets for Two series. Rebekah Millet writes slightly older romances in a sweet and loving manner, full of maturity and grace. I love the interactions between Kate and her adopted niece, Hayley, giving us a peek into Kate's heart in helping others. Micah is the perfect person to reenter her life and show Kate that not everything has to go according to plan. There are so many good lessons about trusting God in this story that I enjoyed seeing how everything unfolded between Kate, Micah, Hayley, and their surrounding family members. The overwhelming work schedule described throughout is relatable and makes the book feel even more real.
I appreciate the snippets of New Orleans culture that the author injects, providing a taste of the culinary wonders and Cajun traditions in Louisiana. It is also a treat to see library programming outside of its usual four walls. Overall, the messages of forgiveness and not holding someone else's sins toward an innocent party are profound messages in Kate Landry Has a Plan. If you're looking for a book that speaks to the power of friendship and loyalty and how God has the best plans in store for us, this is a book that will have you immediately ordering beignets to go along with your reading.

Kate Landry Has a Plan by Rebekah Millet is a delightful romantic-comedy that I absolutely enjoyed. It is second in the Beignets for Two series, but can be read as a stand-alone novel. Kate Landy has carefully planned her life and suddenly it is not so neat and tidy. She is running her café, taking care of her teenage niece, trying to expand her business, dealing with her parents, and now Micah Gurdy is back in town! Micah has moved back to take a job at the library, take care of his dad, and wonders about what happened to Kate. But so many things have kept them apart through the years.
This was such a wonderful read with engaging characters who had such depth and personality. Kate and Micah were funny, had great banter & chemistry, and you simply wanted to be with them. The secondary characters added interest and some comic relief. It was enjoyable to listen in to the deeper conversations between Kate and her friends, and to visit New Orleans. The faith elements were beautifully done and the themes of found family, friendship, and second chances resonated with me.
Kate Landry Has a Plan by Rebekah Millet is filled with wonderful characters, redeeming themes, and sweet humor. The romance and comedy are the perfect blend making this a story that I highly recommend! A favorite of 2025 for me!
I was given a copy by the publisher and not required to write a positive review.

This novel was all encompassing for me! I felt immersed in the rich culture and vibrancy of New Orleans and the French Quarter. The author did a great job of threading the setting and events beautifully and naturally into the plot of the story.
My heart hurt for the difficulties and losses that both Kate and Micah had dealt with in their lives. These two were definitely opposites, yet exactly right for each other. I loved learning about their backstories and uncovering Micah’s long standing feelings for Kate. Micah was definitely a steadfast and swoony hero. He and Kate had things to work through and overcome and Micah showed such patience and understanding toward her. Seeing their love story blossom in a very natural way was so uplifting.
I intensely felt the way Kate tried to keep all of the fraying edges of her plans intact. She was devoted to her niece, her cafe, and the business plans she had made with her late sister years earlier. She was a woman of faith, yet attempted to hold on to control of things in her life instead of placing them in God’s hands.
Although Kate’s character may be a bit of an exaggeration in terms of how she moves through life, she is, also, very much the embodiment of what so many people, myself included, can probably sheepishly acknowledge to be true…someone who knows that God is ultimately in control but who also tries to guide plans in the way they believe they should go.
I truly adored this story, just as I did book one in the series. Once I started reading it, I had trouble setting the book down.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Kate Landry is one determined lady to keep things neatly arranged in her life. That way, she has some control and normalcy after she has suffered some devastating losses.I loved that Kate was a woman in her forties; I felt that added depth to her character. She has experienced a lot in her life, with the death of her beloved sister, a broken engagement, and running a successful restaurant. But, life is rarely kept in a neat box and events checked off on a spreadsheet, unexpected things happen. I love that Kate had to rethink those ideas and decide to take some chances on new beginnings.
Kate was so cute when she learns that she was to be her niece’s legal guardian. She created spread sheets on parenting, vitamin percentage charts, etc. When Hayley enters teen hood, the spreadsheets aren’t working as well as they had when she was young. She’s a great character, and I I thought it was funny how she petitioned (frequently) for a dog. Kate has a very trusting nature and when things are revealed about Ryan, her ex- fiancé, I wanted give him a piece of my mind; he was really rather deplorable.
I loved Micah because he never gave up and chose to see the positive things in life. Being a librarian; helping Kate; returning home for family reasons, and planning fun library events made him such an endearing character. I was glad he looked past Kate’s reluctance to see there could be more for them.
Things to love:
New Orleans
childhood crush
funny sayings
Hawaiian shirts
humor
water guns
pro/con spreadsheet
Operation Friends Only
faith aspect of the characters
This is the second book in the Beignets for Two series, but it can be read as a standalone. I look forward to reading more of this author’s books. I highly recommend this book; it will make you smile and looking forward to reading more of the series.
death of parents
infertility

Goldilocks! (Perfection in Kate Landry Speak)
All the ingredients for a charming contemporary romance novel:
- Humor: So much humor in the pages that had me laughing out loud at times
- Dog: What's not to love about the addition of a dog obsessed teen going to GREAT lengths to sell her case?
- Setting: The New Orleans vibe came through loud and clear from the food to the French Quarter
- Characters: Fabulous to catch up with Julia from book one. I adored Kate. And Micah...swoon worthy personality.
Favorite quotes:
"You don't let a lot of people in, but the ones who you do...That's where I want to be."
"I had to wait twenty-seven years to kiss you again. If we go any slower, I may be too old to remember who you are."
Hopefully, the series isn't over. It's a winner for sure.

This was such a sweet faith-based romcom! I loved Kate so much- she was a great friend, mom, and strong in her faith (everything that this Kate wants to be, really). Micah and his Hawaiian shirts stole my heart- a walking green flag (even with his "divorce red flag"). This story was tender, sweet, and has some great laugh out loud moments.
A sweet story about family, faith, and friendship that is worth reading.

This was such a sweet story! I loved that while there were still cute falling-in-love moments, the characters were grown-up about their communication (unlike a lot of romcoms!). Kate was upfront with Micah about her reservations, and he respected them. Her friendship with Julia was great, especially since I loved her in the first book. Kate's struggles were well-developed, and I liked watching her learn and grow. The Christian themes were incorporated naturally, not at all the focus, or preachy. Micah was great, especially since he'd liked Kate so long. His relationship with Hayley was sweet, though I thought it could have been developed a bit more after their big heart-to-heart. I liked the ending a lot, and I hope the author has more books planned!

If you’ve ever tried to keep everything neatly tucked into place—your career, family, and personal dreams—you’ll understand exactly where Kate Landry is coming from. Kate Landry Has a Plan is a delightful blend of humor, second chances, and faith, wrapped up in the vibrant, unpredictable charm of New Orleans. With the perfect balance of quirky characters, heartfelt moments, and life’s messy beauty, this book will captivate readers who appreciate romance, deep personal growth, and the reminder that sometimes, letting go of our plans opens the door to something amazing.
Kate’s life might look like a carefully constructed blueprint, but it doesn’t take long for us to see that the best-laid plans often meet a divine interruption. Between running her café, caring for her teenage niece, and coming to terms with the heartbreak of her past, Kate’s world turns upside down when Micah, her first love, returns to town. What follows is a rich, emotional journey filled with faith, growth, and, yes, a little bit of messiness. And honestly? It’s the mess that makes it so real and so relatable.
One of the most powerful themes in the story is Kate’s willingness to listen to God’s promptings, even when they disrupt her plans. That inner struggle to surrender control is something I’m sure many of us can relate to, and when we see Kate “… inhaled a hint of sweetness from the jasmine and relaxed my tense shoulders. Ignoring that pressing from God always proved futile. Because in the end, I knew the only peace I’d feel would be giving in to what I should have done. And I never regretted surrendering to His promptings,” It’s a moment of truth, a reminder that peace doesn’t always come from having it all figured out—it comes from trusting in and surrendering to the One who does.
The setting of New Orleans adds such a vibrant layer to this story, with its rich culture, delicious food, and the kind of spontaneous charm that makes it impossible to predict what’s coming next. Rebekah Millet brings the city to life in such a way that you feel like you’re walking alongside Kate through the bustling streets, inhaling the warm air, and savoring the beignets at her café. It’s a setting that matches the heart and soul of the story—messy, beautiful, and full of life.
Outstanding books are not complete without its lovable sidekicks, and Kate’s world is full of them—from her well-meaning but meddling ex-fiancé to the lovable rescue dog and parrot whose antics provide the perfect touch of humor. These characters add just the right balance of lightness to a story that also delves into the deeper aspects of love, family, and faith.
Kate Landry Has a Plan is a story of learning to let go, to trust God’s timing, and to open your heart to what He has in store. Rebekah Millet does an outstanding job of blending humor, romance, and faith into a delightful read that will leave you smiling, reflecting, and maybe even wiping away a tear or two.
I highly recommend this one—Kate’s journey, rich with the heart of New Orleans, the depth of faith, and the reminder that life’s messiness often leads to the most beautiful chapters, will echo in your heart long after the final page slips away.
I received a digital ARC and a paperback edition of this book from the author, publisher, and JustRead Publicity Tours, LLC. I am not required to write a positive review nor paid to do so. This is my honest and unbiased review. My thoughts and opinions expressed in this book review are my own. My review focuses on writing and story’s content, ensuring transparency and reliability.

Kate Landry Has a Plan is the second book in the Beignets for Two series. While the main characters from the previous book do make some appearances, this could absolutely be enjoyed as a standalone as well.
This was such a cute story! I was drawn in right away with the New Orleans/Mardi Gras setting. I've never personally been, but the author did a great job of bringing us in and creating a really fun backdrop for this sweet romance. Kate and Micah had a really cute chemistry together. There's something really sweet about getting a second chance with a first crush/kiss and that was certainly true for these two after so many years. Kate has a lot of plans throughout the story, but one thing that is clear throughout is that sometimes our plans don't always work out as we hope they will. Between family issues, a sneaky ex, animal mayhem and life raising a young teenager, there was so much going on in this story to keep things interesting... and I found myself enjoying every moment. If you enjoy Christian romance, this is certainly one to check out.
