“At the end of the day, where a person’s heart leaned - toward God or away - was what mattered.”
I can always count on Elizabeth Goddard to write an adrenaline-filled novel that I just can’t set down! Her ability to draw me in, care about her characters, get dazzled with her settings, and get encouragement for my faith journey is spectacular.
This first book in her new series features 29-year old Remi Grant, the manager of Cedar Trails Lodge in isolated Hidden Bay in the Pacific North West. Ex-Army Grant is driven by fear and paranoia and struggles to break free from her past.
Hawk Beckett arrives in Hidden Bay looking for a place to stay to get distance and perspective after a failed mission. He’s an Army helicopter pilot and former member of the Night Stalkers, a
Special Operations Aviation Regiment.
Remi has arrived in Hidden Bay to help remember her past. Hawk has arrived hoping to forget his past.
When they meet in this spectacular novel, Remi and Hawk get swept up in a world of double-crossing, international espionage, immanent danger and discover they are surrounded by untrustworthy people. I loved the focus on being free of our past and the reminder that we have no control over another’s decisions, just our reaction to them.
I can’t wait to see what Goddard has planned next!
I was gifted this book by Revell and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
A deep and complex storyline that keeps you engaged right to the end. It helped me to remember that I need to trust people and use discernment at the same time, people are not always what they seem to portray.
Former Army photographer Remi is plagued by amnesia. Former military pilot Hawk is near and saves her life more than once. They battle the storm that’s coming and the person out to stop her from regaining her memory.
This is one of Goddard's best yet! Totally loved it.
A rollercoaster of a ride with awesome characters and a great plot that won't let you put the book down. Just wow!!
This was a fantastic story that I enjoyed in guessing the who done it part. Lots of twists and turns that sometimes made my head spin but that's ok. It's what make a great story!
The storm setting was fantastic! I felt like I could hear the waves crashing against the cost.
I held held my breath from time to time throughout the story.
I do however; wish the author wouldn't put the excerpts from the next book at the end. To me, it spoils the story before we get to read it.
I can't wait until the next book!
5 stars from me. I highly recommend.
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
I had not read Elizabeth Goddard before, but I'm delighted to have been introduced to her writing with STORM WARNING. The Washington coast setting is gorgeous and haunting. The arrival of a mysterious puzzle piece really gets the story going. I absolutely loved the protagonist, Remi, a former Army photographer with a tragic past. Hawk is also terrific as the male lead. As a serious storm barrels closer, they draw closer to each other in a battle for survival. Highly recommended for fans of "clean" thrillers/suspense novels.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance e-galley; all opinions in my review are 100% my own.
