I really enjoy this book. It feels like a Hallmark movie
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the book
Having read the first book in the series, I was looking forward to reading the second one and it was nice to read about Zac's story.
Melody and her grandmother come to Lettie and Zac's farm to lend a hand but Melody is from Edinburgh and there is a particular reason why she is not in a tearing hurry to get back to Scotland. There is a mystery that surrounds her and Zac is determined to get to the bottom of why she quite often appears to be so sad.
When I read Lettie's story in the first book, I wondered if her brother was going to be featured in the future and I am glad that he was. These siblings (and their parents) are just so NICE, that you want nothing but good things to happen to them, always.
Due to the insurance company not covering the repairs to their barn, the siblings decide to hold a Wellness Festival. Between the two of them and the helpers, there are enough skills to make the festival a success, however, Melody's past comes back to haunt her.
I like that this was a lighthearted story, but that it didn't shy away from issues that crop up either.
4.5 stars from me.
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books.
I hadn’t read the first book in the Hollyhock Farm series before I picked up Second Chances at Hollyhock Farm, but luckily this didn’t affect my enjoyment of this story in the least. The book stands on its own two feet as a fun, romantic interlude set on the beautiful island of Jersey.
The Torels need to raise some money quickly to complete repairs to their barn roof before winter sets in, but how are they going to do that? They can’t hold a Glastonbury-esque music festival, as it might upset the animals, so they settle upon the idea of a wellness festival instead, helped along by their new guest, Melody, who is a yoga teacher. It doesn’t take much time for Melody and Zac, working in close proximity, to start having feelings for each other.
This is a gentle story, set on an idyllic farm on the gorgeous island of Jersey. Of course, there would not be a story if the path of true love ran smoothly and both Melody and Zac have previous relationship baggage to overcome. Melody’s, in particular, raises a pretty ugly barrier to their relationship which provides a bug dose of tension in an otherwise undemanding story. A lot of people think this kind of romance novel is superficial easy reading, but this author does a great job of showing how this type of book can tackle some very serious subjects without sacrificing any of its warmth and charm. It is a delicate balance to be struck, because no one wants to be seen to be trivialising issues, and this author treads the line well.
I enjoyed the development of the characters in this novel, especially Melody who has to recover her sense of self and her confidence throughout the story. Forgiveness, particularly of oneself, is a big theme in this story which works really well. Set it alongside a welcoming and close knit community, a cosy rural vibe and the beautiful setting of the Channel Islands and you can see how this book is going to have a lot of appeal to romance fans. A book with things to say without being too demanding.
Festival season has come to Hollyhock Farm…
Since his sister Lettie took over their parents' farm on the beautiful island of Jersey at the start of the year, Zac Torel's life has changed completely. Zac loves Hollyhock Farm, and he's determined to help Lettie succeed, but when their insurance company refuses to pay for the restoration of one of their barns in time for winter, the clock is ticking for the Torels to raise the money themselves.
The siblings decide to host a wellness festival, but with the summer already well underway, they've got their work cut out to get everything ready before the season ends. Lettie recruits the help of Melody, a yoga teacher from Edinburgh. New to the island, Melody is determined to shake things up and make a success of Lettie’s festival.
But Melody has come to Jersey with more baggage than her small backpack implies. And as her friendship with Zac grows, will her past catch up with her?
Love it. Will recommend to others
3.5 stars. Thanks to Boldwood Books for the widget. I read the first one of Hollyhock Farm and couldn't wait to go back to Hollyhock Farm with the story of Zack and Melody. This was such a cute easy read. Zack and Melody are trying to help Lettie but together a wellness festival to raise money for the roof of one of the barns. This is all about insta love but in such a cute and clean way. I cant wait to read more about Hollyhock Farm.

Although this is book 2 in the series, and it can stand alone, I recommend you read the book 1 first.
Zac and his sister Lettie need to raise funds to make repair on the farm. Soon Melody and her grandma move in. Giving Zac and Melody a second chance to rekindle their love story. Along the way they are faced with some troubling issues that will put their relationship to the test. Can they find away past these issues or will it destroy them.
Fast easy read that will warm you as the nights get colder.
Book 2 was better than the first but I still feel you should read book 1 first. I'm hoping the series will continue and the author will write book 3.
This is the second book in this series, I haven’t read the first one, but got into this cozy romcom very easily. The book is set on Hollyhock Farm, Lottie and Zac have taken over the farm, but need to get extra money to fix the barn roof. Melody has come to help with her grandmother. Will love blossom between Melody and Zac?
The book is read in both of the main characters Zac and Melody, both are wonderful people and really make this a feel good read. The farm is a perfect setting for the story too. Easy 5 star read.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a copy.
It took be a little bit of time to fully submerge myself into this story but once I was in I was fully invested.
The characters really grow on you through the book, Zac and Lettie and their parents, Melody and her grandmother, plus other friends along the way. I love the sense of family, which extends out to all their friends, old and new.
It’s not your typical romance story, it deals sympathetically with some serious issues, and resolves them in a very real way. Everyone also being very respectful of each others pasts as they move into their new futures.
The author describes the island so well, you will see the farm, the coast, the festival set up in the barns.
All in all a lovely read which I would recommend.
this is the second book in a series but can be read as a standalone. lovely setting and great characters. enjoyed the story very much.
As Lettie successfully runs the family farm, she receives a setback from the insurance company and needs to raise funds before winter to repair the barn roof. Zac realises he needs to return to his former life as a sound engineer, but he is there when Lettie needs help. Lettie capitalises on the wellness trend and thinks about running a festival. When working guests Melody and Patsy arrive, they help Lettie and Zac with the proposed event as both are skilled in this area. Working together, Zac and Melody form a bond, but they have secrets that need revealing and resolving to move on. The wonderfully evoked rural Jersey setting, the community support, friendship and gentle romance make this engaging.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
In Second Chances at Hollyhock Farm, Zac and Lettie Tovel are working to save their family farm after a storm damages a barn, leaving their animals vulnerable as winter approaches. With insurance falling short, they organize a wellness festival to raise funds for repairs. Zac, a sound engineer, and Lettie, a former fashion professional, are dedicated to preserving their 80-acre organic farm, which also houses rescue animals.
Melody, a yoga instructor, and her quirky grandmother, Patsy, join the farm as temporary residents, bringing fresh energy to the fundraiser. Melody takes a lead role in planning the event while forming a budding romance with Zac. However, both Zac and Melody carry personal secrets that threaten to complicate their growing relationship.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of Jersey, this heartwarming story highlights community spirit, second chances, and the joy of new beginnings. It’s a delightful continuation of the Hollyhock Farm series, leaving readers eager for the next installment.

My Opinion
Welcome back to Hollyhock Farm, it was such a delight to be back. With a lot of returning characters, I would recommend reading these books in order. Lettie and Zac must work together to try and raise money to fix the barn roof – Lettie decides that she can put together a wellness factory. This was such a sweet read and I would love to return to Hollyhock Farm in the future.
Rating 4/5
This is the second book in the Hollyhock Farm series, but my first visit. I really loved it! There’s a lovely sense of community, with fabulous characters.
Zac is a wonderful hero. He’s put his job as a sound engineer on hold while he helps his sister with the family farm. Problems arise when their insurance company refuses to pay to repair a barn roof, damaged in a storm. Zac’s sister Lettie decides to host a wellness festival on the farm grounds.
Meanwhile, Melody is on the run from her past and comes to stay at the farm. Her yogi background is perfect for the festival and she joins in with the planning… which means she’s bumping shoulders with Zac often.
Second Chances leans slightly more into women’s lit with a side of romance, but that didn’t spoil my enjoyment of this story. It’s really well-written and the prose pulls you gently along. The way everyone pitches in to help the festival – and the farm – is very heart-warming.
Of course, both Zac and Melody have their secrets. Pasts that threaten the present. When these comes back to haunt them, they’ve built a relationship with both each other and the community, and again everyone pulls together to overcome the difficulties.
This story is bright and sunny, making it an ideal escapist read in these dark, cold months!
4.5 stars
It’s always special falling into the pages of a Georgina Troy read and it’s been lovely being back in Jersey at Hollyhock Farm.
Although this is book 2 of the series, it can be read as a standalone, but I’d recommend you pick up the first book to as it introduces you to Lettie and Zac and their amazing family and farm.
She has that amazing knack of creating such warm and emotional stories with wonderful characters.
Jersey is portrayed beautifully and the festival held at the farm sounded the perfect way to help the siblings make the farm a success.
Melody and Patsy were great introductions and I loved seeing them both become part of the family.
Although this is the second book in a series, it also reads well as a standalone. It has two adorable main characters Zac and Melody and is set on an 80 acre organic farm in the beautiful countryside of Jersey. Melody is escaping a domestic violence situation with her husband and has come away with her Gran Patsy for a holiday in Jersey, which is where she meets Zac and his family. Together the pull together a Wellness weekend to try and raise money for the repairs to one of the barn roofs on the farm which was damaged by lightening earlier in the year. This is a really written book and an easy to read, it just sadly lacked the twist to earn it that 5th star.
In this the second book in the series Lettie and her brother Zac are joined at the farm by Melody and her grandmother Patsy, who are holidaying on the island. Lettie is forced to find some money to pay towards repairing a barn roof and decides to hold a wellness festival at the farm, aided by Melody and other friends.
This can be read as a standalone book, although you would be missing the enjoyable first one. It returns to Jersey, which does sound like a place I would like to visit, and the farm. Zac is definitely taken by Melody, however she has a burden that she is not happy to share. Be aware that domestic violence is part of the story, but this is counterbalanced by friendship and humour. Again there is that small community feel that I'd love to be part of and it did make me feel that I'd like to attend a wellness festival. Overall an enjoyable book and I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.
This is the second book in the series, and as someone who hasn't read book one I can vouch for being able to jump right in a falling in love with these characters at "Second Chances at Hollyhock Farm." This book is a sweet, clean second-chance romance filled with characters that I want to know in real-life. The plot reflects real world issues that makes these characters so relatable. This book was a solid, clean romance that I would approve for my daughter to read and recommend to a friend; it was not a stand out read but it is definitely a series I will read more of. 4/5 stars. *I received a complimentary ARC from the author/publishing company via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
Zac Tovel and his sister, Lettie, took over working their family’s farm after their father became ill. Lettie had been working in London in fashion but she is the one now responsible for the farm. Zac is a successful sound engineer but has taken time from his job to help his sister get things under control. The 80-acre farm grows organic produce. They also have some animals that they have adopted over the years.
Lettie is livid when she learns that the recent storm that destroyed the roof of one of their barns will not be fully covered by their insurance. Thus, they need to make some money quickly before winter sets in. Lettie decides that they can put together a wellness festival for the end of September and hopefully raise the money they need.
Their parents are off on a holiday and her mother has agreed to house acquaintences Patsy and her granddaughter, Melody for some time in return for help on the farm. Since Melody’s job is as a Yoga instructor and has had experience in this area, she jumps in and gets the ball rolling for the festival. Other neighbors step up to help as well.
This is a cute book about friends and people helping one another. Zac’s and Melody’s budding romance was sweet to see. I hope there will be a sequel of this story. Enjoy.

Great to be back in Jersey at Hollyhock Farm catching up with Lettie and the characters from the first book. This time it's Zac's story and a good plot line, plenty of fun and romance and of course the beautiful setting of Jersey it is another winner. Perfect light beach read
Another brilliantly written book by Georgina Troy. You can imagine yourself in Jersey she describes the area so vividly. We have met some of the characters from hollyhock Farm before, but this book can also be read as a stand alone story.
A feel good story, in a lovely setting with wonderful characters. can't wait for the next instalment.
