Disgraced and sent to Scotland to be away from the public eye, Alice is forced to think about her life and decide if it is truly what she wants. Insert hot Scotmans and we have the most perfect book. Royalty is always such a fun concept to write and this gave me so much joy to read.

I enjoyed this book it was a very sweet rom-com.
Alice has been banished to Balmoral as she keeps disgracing herself and her parents feel she should stay away from the public. She meets Sophie & Fraser who she enjoys being friends with them as her so called friends seem to have disappeared. We see the ups and downs of what happens to Alice through the book where she discovers herself.
I liked the book it was a nice book and I found the book sad and happy in places. It will be a nice book to read on holiday.

4⭐️ If you love the royals and The Crown, this book is for you!
**Thank you Avon Books UK and NetGalley for the eARC**
Lady Alice is the great niece to the king and living a privileged and wild life. Some, like her parents, might say too wild—too carefree. So when her parents have enough, they send her to Balmoral to cool off and “remediate”. She struggles to find herself and her place in this Scotland ancestral home. New friends show her the way and help her to love and grow.
I enjoyed the setting of Scotland. I, like many, enjoy stories of the royal family. Clawson paints a picture of Scotland and its people in such a beautiful and vivid way. Alice is a dynamic character who means well, and you want to root for her! It’s a story about growth. Almost a coming of age tale that also has some love along the way. Highly recommend if you want to escape to a castle!

I was kindly provided with the arc of this book by NetGalley and the editors in exchange of an honest review, thank you ✨

Oh how I feel everything with Alice’s story, at first I thought the story was going to be about a Lady being spoilt by her lifestyle and how she’ll change and figured out how the real world is, but oh my god! I’ve never saw coming how much Alice will spoke directly to me, how meaningful was written about mental illness, it was so very well portrait how she was struggling with her depression and how she tonight she didn’t deserve any kind of happiness because she been taught she was just good at being a trouble
And Fraser, my god he is just perfect and so sweet and so willingly to love Alice no matter what, all the characters (in Scotland) are so beautiful and loving and I just love how everyone were there for Alice and how she managed to find herself and figured out how accept happiness and true love with Fraser ✨

Such a sweet sweet story! A story of two people falling in love with a bit of miscommunication/mixed signals, overcoming personal struggles, and learning to be true to yourself! I received this ARC and was so thrilled to offer a review.
I deeply appreciated Megan's approach to mental health and the struggle that so many people face when it comes to depression. She wrote a beautiful love story that proves yes again, that being your true self doesn't always mean the road is smooth but it is so fulfilling. And I always enjoy a headstrong FMC who sometimes forgets to think the plan all the way through before she leaps - reminds me of...me. :)
This book is perfect for rainy afternoon cuddled on the couch with a cup of coffee. It will warm your heart and remind you that there is always hope and plenty of second chances!

I have been a Megan Clawson fan since I first read Falling Hard for the Royal Guard however with this being a Scottish romance I was a wee bit worried this one wouldn’t work for me. There was absolutely no need for that fear though and I absolutely loved it.
Kilted Lovers follows Alice, a princess banished to Balmoral to clean up her behaviour where she meets Piper to the Sovereign Fraser Bell and eventually finds herself falling for, with London becoming a less and less appealing place to return to. However, with how different their lives are, could things ever work out between them?
As I mentioned I loved this book, I quickly fell in love with Fraser, Sophie and all the other staff members at Balmoral. I also found myself gradually warming up to Alice as the book went on to the point where I would happily read many more books about her. I also found that I was easily invested in the fromance plot line between Alice and Fraser along with the other romances and happily ever after among the side characters.
Megan is easily one of my favourite underrated romance authors who I wish I saw more people talking about. I love her writing, the way her romances develop and her characters who are never without flaws but so loveable. Her mental health rep is always fantastic with how it is written into characters and treated, along with her books being so face paced and easy to read.
The fact this book was set in Scotland did make me a bit anxious going in but the setting felt real and not a fantasy idea of the country in all the locations visited. The language used also fitted well, and felt appropriate for the character who felt real and again not a fantasy version of Scots that is unresearched.
I am so glad that I didn’t put this one off out of fear because I loved it and will be recommending it easily. I also really liked the references to one of Megan’s previous books, they were a really fun addition. If you are a romance lover and haven’t given Megan Clawson a shot yet I would highly recommend doing so and I can’t wait for whatever she releases next.

I had to dnf.
Sadly I couldn't get into this book.
I struggled with the writing style and characters.

This was such a fun royal rom-com! I really loved Alice. She was such a real character with her battles with mental health. The representation of depression was so raw and real. The love story was so cute. I love royal romances!
Thank you NetGalley and Avon for the arc of this book.

This book has something for everyone. A romance between a disgraced member of the royal family and a Scottish piper, dealing with mental health, and learning who you are outside of others' expectations. Alice's journey through all of this while being banished to Blamoral for the summer is something that is at times hard to read but is very authentic-feeling in the way that emotions are spoken about. This book was a delightful read and I'm excited to go back and read Clawson's other books in the series.

Thank you to the publishers for an early copy of this book in exchange for a review. As a lover of all things British I thought this book was for someone like me. There were things I liked about this book and things that were a miss to me. I needed more character development and I didn’t find the romance convincing. This got a little repetitive and was a bit too predictable for me. This was a good break from some of the heavier things I’ve been reading at the moment.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this arc.
I loved this one. It’s a heartwarming, cute romance with a really fun plot. I loved the characters and the Scottish setting, and the way the author navigated around mental health representation.
I read this in one sitting and would definitely recommend picking this one up!

I have loved the other two books I have read by this author. But this one was just okay. I did like the setting of this book. But I found the overall plot pretty predictable.

I loved Alice!
Lady Alice Walpole has been banished to Balmoral by her parents to hopefully fade out of the public eye after too much bad publicity for the royal family. Nobody seems to miss her because nobody will answer her calls not even her friends or parents. But she never expected to be woken up each morning by his majesty’s piper because she wasn’t an early riser.
Pipe Major Fraser Bell was the Piper to the Sovereign when the king was at Balmoral and worked as a stable hand but he soon realized that Alice wasn’t the person that her parents thought she was.
Megan Clawson has put so much more into Kilted Lovers than just royal romance about falling in love with the staff to showing how Alice figured out that she needed more in her life than just partying with the social crowd to helping people.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you NetGalley and Avon Books UK for providing this e-arc in exchange for an honest review!
Megan Clawson, you are an incredibly clever and admirable woman who has written yet another infinite star romance book! I was so excited and happy to receive the arc for this one as I absolutely devoured and loved your first two novels.
The mental health awareness in this book is beautiful yet so deep and sad to read. The scene when Alice arrives at Balmoral and takes a minute in her room in the silence, but that silence allows her to get trapped in her thoughts, which warp to “something vile, twisted and gnarled into a rat-king of self-destruction” - self destruction being the key phrase here - makes it all the more real and relatable.
The romance between in this novel was everything, my heart was so happy!! There are so many sweet scenes that make me love “love” so much more.
Whilst I was reading this, I was constantly thinking that this would be a perfect film and most likely would be one of my favourites! And talking about films/series, I kept picturing Sophie as Anne from Motherland — both are hilarious icons.
I cannot wait to add the physical copy to my bookshelf and read Megan’s next book!!

I went into Kilted Lovers expecting a light, feel-good romance, but it turned out to be so much more. The story captivated me with its beautiful, vivid storytelling and deep character development, especially of Alice.
Alice is such a well-rounded and relatable character. The complexities of her mental health journey were handled with such care, and it was refreshing to see such an honest representation of depression within a romance.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the book is how Alice’s journey unfolds. Her struggles with mental health, particularly depression, are portrayed in such a raw and authentic way. While depression is a part of her, it doesn’t define her. Alice remains selfless and hopeful at her core. The love she experiences doesn’t magically solve her problems; instead, it’s through confronting her insecurities and finding inner courage that she creates the life she truly wants. By the end, I felt a deep sense of satisfaction, as all of Alice's loose ends were neatly tied up—most importantly, showing that she doesn’t have to conform to the mould society and her parents expect of her.
I especially appreciated that Alice’s journey was portrayed as imperfect. It serves as a reminder that love isn’t a cure-all, but something that exists alongside the highs and lows of life. In those moments, we find joy, humour, and love. Alice’s determination to build a more fulfilling life for herself was incredibly admirable, and I found myself cheering for her every step of the way.
The setting of the Scottish Highlands added a gorgeous layer to the story. Lady Alice Walpole, exhausted by disastrous dates and a life filled with superficial glamour, is sent to Balmoral to "clean up her act" after a public scandal. There, she meets Fraser, a bagpiper with rugged Scottish charm. As their romance blossoms, Alice not only falls for Fraser but also for the peaceful, intentional lifestyle of the Highlands. The love between them felt soft, honest, and real. Fraser sees past the façade Alice presents to the world, allowing her to be her true self for the first time and discover who she really is.
I highly recommend Kilted Lovers to any romance lover. It’s a cosy, heartfelt read, filled with romantic tension, delightful friendships, and plenty of humour. The mental health representation is beautifully done, and the setting, characters, and heartfelt moments make this the perfect rom-com. It’s a truly great read, with lovable characters, a fantastic location, and so much heart.

Implausible but fun. Lady Alice has been sent away because her family has had it with her hijinks. Turns out Balmoral becomes the home, the village she really needed. Yes there's insta love for Fraser but there's also the found family of the people who work at the castle. They're the ones who help Alice grow as a human. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. I enjoyed this light read that's a good diversion from the news.

Kilted Lovers is a royal romance, the 3rd book with this royal couple theme but by far the most far-fetched.
I found it a little hard to get into this book as it had quite a different voice, usually Megan’s books have a FMC who is a ‘commoner’ , it makes them relatively relatable, however the voice of the FMC who is royal was perhaps harder to write and didn’t translate as well. It’s probably a difficult POV to grasp but it wasn’t executed particularly well.
The storyline is fun and easy to predict, despite the awkwardness. Though I do appreciate the mental health representation, the ending felt a bit like “now she’s fine and fixed because she’s got a man”? Slightly undermining the work the book did in trying to highlight mental health struggles. As if true mental health disorders can be fixed by finding partner.
This might be something people like if they hadn’t read Megan’s other books to compare it to and if they can completely suspend disbelief and not think too hard about it.

Well, no. This book had no plot, there was no character development, no romance, no nothing.
This girl, who gets sent away by her family because she was behaving badly, goes to Balmoral, to the king's residence where she befreinds a servant and the piper boy. No descriptions of these two people, zero. I found out the piper was a redhead halfway through the book.
She barely talks to the guy, until he kisses her and suddenly she falls in love with him? We know nothing about this guy, we barely know his name since she keeps referring to him as the piper.
Thank you Netgalley for the arc though

Kilted Lovers is my new favourite book by Clawson, I like each one more than the last. Moving the setting from London to Scotland really helped distinguish this story and I loved all of the side characters. I found Alice quite frustrating at times but seeing her character develop throughout the book was lovely. This book deals with more serious themes of mental health and acceptance both from family and yourself. I felt like the love story was a little too 'insta-love' for me at times, but it developed well and the other relationships Alice formed were heartwarming. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a romance read with a little more depth.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this eArc in exchange for an honest review.

A masterful modern fairytale. We get a bit of Emma meddlesome matchmaking, Beauty and the Beast castle life, as well as the reality of generational trauma, mental health struggles, and a search for purpose. Clawson delivers a royal fantasy that is truely relatable and familiar to the everyday reader.
Lady Alice Walpole's royal status did not hinder me from relating to her. From the start, she recognized her privilege and felt out of place within her social circle. Alice latched onto many poor choice coping mechanisms and even worse relationships not because she is vapid or lazy, but because her brain has told her that's all she deserves. Even with all the resources, wealth, and status in her world, Alice's brain betrays her. Her journey to develop meaningful personal relationships, establish healthy coping skills, and shed the burden of expectations is one that looks like mine, yours, ours.
I love that Clawson infuses so much life and humor into her work. Alice's found family within Balmoral Castle provides both distraction and relief from her daily struggles. Piper Fraser Bell sees all of Alice and loves her in totality. Sophie goes above and beyond to befriend Alice - not for duty but for love. Together, they create a safe space for Alice to be vulnerable.
I appreciated that Alice's journey is imperfect and love isn't a fix all. It's in the highs and lows of life that we find joy, and love, and humor. The work Alice does to create a better more fulfilling life is so admirable. I was cheering for her om every page.
Highly recommend KILTED LOVERS for a royal fantasy romance and the representation of persevering through hardship. Megan Clawson once again sends her words directly to my heart. Thank you.
