thanks netgalley for the arc!

this book centres around sally, a woman who is sick of misogyny and violence against women who mobilises a group of other wronged women to get revenge on the various terrible men they know.

i could tell early on that i wasn’t going to like this book - the style of narration, the two-dimensional characters and the extremely predictable, repetitive plot lines. the entire thing was both over the top and poorly executed.

the story felt like a cheap shot to capitalise on the (very real) traumas many women do actually face. it was even more insulting that the whole group of women’s entire lives were defined simply by the men they knew.

would avoid!

A revenge story you are not going to want to miss out on. The book follows Sally, a woman with a dark past and a complex background who finds herself waking up one morning with the worlds worse hangover, her bank account empty and the realisation that the man behind this nightmare may just have been the man of her dreams, the guy with all the charm, the man she has been dating, Harry. Realising she has been swindled Sally must take her next steps and when she finds out she is not the only victim a plan is put into action. Setting up a group of wronged women the revenge story begins and Harry wont see what is coming his way, he may have started the game but Sally is hell bent on finishing it.

I loved this story. From the catchy smart title of the book down to the pacing of this book. The side characters all had depth and we found ourself as the reader just as interest in them as our FMC. We see these women grow on their journey of revenge and the rage felt by all these women is something that feels so real and compelling. The modern feeling of this book draws you in even more and is sure to allow readers of multiple ages to feel connected and able to relate to the story. We learn parts of Sally's story in sections throughout the book making her the friend we all want and the enemy we should all fear. Right down to the last page we have secrets revealed and I was left craving more from Sally!
The downfalls I felt were small here but I have to mention that I would have liked certain scenes to have more detailing and gore but overall this was a fun read, perfect for women who want to lean into a revenge story and perfect for fans of Katy Brent for I felt this had similar feel to some of her books too. I would recommend this book to everyone but especially the women in my life. This was a brilliant modern revenge story that tapped into serious topics but also added elements of humour at the right time.

This book will be a hit I’m sure. It’s a popular style and it’s a good quick read.

I found it a little lacking and rather too like many others in this genre. But I definitely recommend it for a beach read.

Say hello to Sally.

I’ve woken up in the Big Apple with the world’s worst hangover, an empty bank account, and the sinking feeling that my life just nosedived. Last night’s escapade is a blur, but one thing is I’ve been swindled and I’m not happy about it.

She’s the woman of your dreams…

The culprit? Harry – a total dreamboat and my worst nightmare. He’s got charm, secrets, and a smile that screams trouble. Little did I know, Harry’s not just a pretty face – he’s a liar, conman and he’s turned my life upside down.

…or is she your worst nightmare?

When I discover I’m not the only victim, I decide it’s only right I take my revenge. And with a group of wronged women behind me, murder isn’t on the agenda just yet because Harry’s in for a nightmare and I’m only just getting started…

I enjoyed this book. I usually read thrillers and this was a different kind of book for me. This book shows us how some women’s relationships with men aren’t always what they seem and also how online dating can be a different experience to what you were expecting. It’s a dark funny humorous book with a different tale to tell from when Harry Met Sally.. 😉 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ thanks to netgalley for this ARC I give it 3 stars

The concept of When Sally Killed Harry had great potential as an edgy, fast-paced revenge story, but it ultimately fell flat. The blurb describes a fun novel, but the execution was poor. The plot felt unrealistic, with the main character’s rapid, overly emotional attachment to a man who had treated her poorly. She seemed a little immature for the situations she was getting herself into. The characters felt flat and underdeveloped, and overall, the book didn’t deliver on its hype and didn’t work for this reader.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for this ARC! *When Sally Killed Harry* by Lucy Roth is a gripping and darkly comedic tale of love, betrayal, and revenge. Roth crafts an unpredictable narrative with sharp wit and a twist-filled plot that keeps readers on edge. The characters are deeply flawed yet compelling, pulling you into their chaotic and morally gray world. With its razor-sharp humor and suspenseful pacing, this novel is a captivating exploration of how far someone will go when pushed to their limits.

“Rom Com gone Rogue” yes, there were some funny tidbits but not comedic but it sure did go rogue.

Sally flees to New York to get away from her past and is swindled after matching with someone on a dating app. In the meantime she meets a bunch of other women that recently have had men do them wrong as well. They meet to plan their revenge but Sally’s not done there.

This book was entertaining in the beginning, however the constant reiteration of her disdain for men got to be very annoying and had me losing interest in the book. I did enjoy the other characters in this book and felt they intertwined well.

I am glad I finished this book though because there was a bit of a twist at the end I did not see coming!

So, if you REALLY hate men and want minimal comedic relief this book may be for you!

Thank you NetGalley, Avon Books and Lucy Roth for this ARC

Following Sally after waking up from a night out, penniless and badly hungover, who seeks justice in her own way. A slow burner, not my favourite read in this particular genre but overall an okay read.

I had high hopes because the title reminded me of the old show. Sadly I struggled with this book- the beginning drew me in but I felt like some plot points were skipped over and was missing something. The ending was a good wrap up but I just wanted more. I do love the voice that the author had and would like to read more.

When Sally Killed Harry sounded like it could be a fun, edgy revenge story, but it really didn’t work for me.

The characters were flat, the plot moved way too easily (like, why is someone spilling their life story after one cigarette break?), and everything wrapped up the same way at the end. Don’t even get me started on the main character still feeling a “connection” to the guy who conned and drugged her after four dates.

It’s supposed to be a “RomCom gone rogue,” but there’s no romance, no comedy, and the whole thing just felt over-the-top and exhausting. Not for me.

Thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books for the ARC.

I LOVED the concept here but the book itself didn't deliver on any of that promise (I feel like I'm writing that in a lot of reviews lately)... The cover and catchy title - down to the references to the movie in the text - were fabulous and fun and seemed to promise a fast-paced and dishy vengeance fantasy of a novel that would be quick and easy to read. Instead it felt clunky and slow-going and not at all plausible. Why would this smart and sassy woman fall for this over-the-top charming guy, go on a handful of dates, and then feel so connected to him that she has to find the most severe solution possible to punish him for his behavior? I didn't enjoy the execution here at all...

The premise and title of this book had me really intrigued, but, unfortunately, I had to DNF it at 23%. I couldn't connect with Sally the protagonist. The narration keep alluding to dark secrets in Sally's past, but then nothing. I'm sure all will be revealed later in the book, but I wasn't interested enough to read on. I'm sure this book is right for others, just not me.

Thank you NetGalley and Avon Books for this arc.

I'm SO in the middle with this one, it's gonna be a lengthy rant lol

Let's start off with the obvious; this book reminded me of another read. Did it put me off? No BUT as much as I enjoyed parts of this book it also got on my nerves lol -- I liked the idea of the bet with Priya then Sally takes revenge after her fourth date but then it got messy. Also I can understand why Sally is the way she is towards males in general, her childhood trauma was enough of a reason even though she overdid it -- don't get me wrong I found myself laughing at her character in the first part of the book and I loved when she got close to Marie and they bonded regardless of how repulsive Sally is. I felt as if the book was about Sally taking revenge for any woman she comes across that has issues (??) Helping Marie I get but the others?? The fact that the term "support group" was used then went on to say "not all men are bad" ??? The idea of hating men felt so in your face, it was that repetitive. Thankfully by the end of the book we got back to the main plot Sally and Harry -- I loved that more details about her upbringing were mentioned ( still doesn't justify how unhinged and repulsive she is though) this read was engaging and provoking ( if that's the right way to put it lol ) the ending was good for the book itself. Overall I enjoyed this read it will make you want to know what will happen in the end despite how messy the middle gets

Sorry this was a DNF for me. The premise was great, but I thought I was getting into a fun ride that had vibes like the housemaid or Finlay Donovan series. 55% in and stopped because the main character was annoying and none of the mystery of her past or mental health had been revealed. The formatting on the kindle is also strange will lines that only have one word even though the sentence hasn’t stopped. Not sharing on my goodreads or booksta as I don’t want to leave bad reviews everywhere for authors.

"F*** the beta blockers, turns out you just need to accidentally murder a bad man to reset you emotions."
The title and cover of this one lured me in and it was an unhinged ride. Think Sex and the City but they kill the guys they date instead. There were definitely some laugh out loud moments and times where I thought "Okay, maybe the insanity is over and everyone will just be happy now" HA, no. The sisterhood between these women was cute, if crazy so for that I'm giving this one 3 ⭐️'s.
"It's funny, isn't it, that you go around desperately looking for the love of your life, jumping on dating apps, thinking it's got to be all about sex and romance. But in reality, you find the loves of your life in the form of other women. Women who have been where you have. Women who keep on keeping on. Women who hold each other up."

This had a great premise and I was looking forward to reading it but unfortunately, it's a DNF. I've struggled to connect with the main character she seems a bit immature for the situations she's putting herself in. The friendships between the women also feel forced. A little disappointed as the cover is great.

I enjoyed this book!! It was a good story with themes of misogyny and violence against women, and the story was more of a play on a romantic comedy,. I liked the twist and the angle this book took!!

Thank you to NetGalley, to the author, and to the publisher for this complimentary ARC in exchange for my honest review!!!

A+ for effort but C for execution. I so wanted to love this book. I was really rooting for it to be the greatest things since sliced bread but it wasn't. This blurb was so amazing, I thought it would change the writing book world but alas, it did not. The women bonding felt fake and superficial. And their revenge fantasies a little too cliche. It just didn't live up to the hype.

I really enjoyed this! It was so interesting to see different womens lives impacted by the same themes and how they handled it. the pace did get a bit confusing towards the end but overall, loved

When Sally K***ed Harry by new to me author Lucy Roth, published by Avon Books UK is a "stand alone not aromance" - -the author.
I read the blurb and was intrigued. I started reading and soon found out this book is not for me, full of stereotypes, clichees, just not my cup of tea.
