This book has a super unique plot! I loved the characters and how the FMC improved and grew through the whole book. It was super intriguing and I read it in two days! I couldn't put it down

Unfortunately this one didn't work for me, despite the premise being so promising.
I found the female lead really annoying and thought there was no way that a successful novelist and intelligent woman would make such poor decisions. She also came across as judgy and a bit of a snob. So what if he was 'just' a caterer!
It was very predictable and I'd figured out the connection within the first few pages.
The romance seemed an afterthought which was a shame as the cover and blurb suggest otherwise.
I liked Martin and his wife and Allie's long suffering friend, Jess, but I couldn't bring myself to care about anyone else.

Readers, are you looking for the quintessential romance novel? The one book that will re-affirm your love for the beautiful power of a romance book? Well I have it here, with The Plot Twist. Victoria Walter's newest book is a love letter to romance readers and it needs to be on your Summer reading list!
Stevie Phillips has landed her dream job of working as a publicist for Turn the Pages. She's excited for her first day, but not all goes to plan when she discovers her ex-boyfriend is her new boss! Now to help a mid-list romance author that no-one believes in, Stevie must put her anger aside and try to work with Noah. However, what is the line between love and hate and will they cross it?
Oh Em Gee! I really, really loved The Love Interest. It was a total love letter to Pride & Prejudice fans, and The Plot Twist is definitely a love letter to romance readers. This story centres around Stevie and her romantic adventures. For readers of The Love Interest we do get cameos from Liv and Aiden [swoon!!], but either book could be read as a standalone... although trust me when I say you will want to read both!
My favourite thing about The Plot Twist is it is a bookish book about books....
I'd just had a real life meet-cute. In a bookshop! It was what a romance book lover's dreams were made of.
It also breaks down barriers about what the world thinks of romance books. As an avid reader of romance at least a few times [okay more than that] someone has looked down at me for my choice of reading material. I love romance and I love happy endings, and The Plot Twist shares what is so great about this wonderful genre!
Stevie Phillips is a wonderful heroine. She's strong, smart and independent and was a delight to watch, as she gets so excited about promoting midlist author, Deborah Day. Her energy is simply infectious, and I love the energy she brings to everyone at Turn the Pages.
Best described as sweet and spicy, The Plot Twists brings in toe curling moments with spicy romantic moments, and I loved every second of it! I sure hope there will be more books with these characters, as I just can't get enough of them! Another perfect romance from Victoria Walters!

Set in a similar rom-com scenario one could only dream of a film/tv adaptation of, The Plot Twist ticked off what I love about publishing dramas. Whilst the plot was predictable, it still kept me going - Martin and Allie were the cutest friend dynamic, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Martin's love story with his wife - definitely couple goals there, but this was where I found the most chemistry. Allie and Will were cute enough, but there was something there that didn't quite add up to be couple goals, but I'm guessing that within time, there could be.

The story has a strong premise and believable characters. I liked the multi-generational connection between Allie and Martin and I liked that there was another story related to a long-standing successful marriage as a sub-story. The only trouble is that this author needs a little more practice with her writing and she fell into routine tropes too often. Allie routinely retreated into her own thoughts and was called out for not paying attention by whomever she was with. Does this happen? Sure. Does it happen 3-4 times within the first few chapters? Unlikely and it starts to get annoying for the reader. There were also some big leaps in the storyline. When we meet Martin, he tells of his love for his wife and his wife is supportive of his career and the next they are trying to save their marriage. There didn't seem to be any indication that the wife's feelings had changed but suddenly, it was crisis mode.
Did not finish.

⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶️ nothing in the first half (DNF after 50%)
🤬 1.5 (few and far between)
Thank you to NetGalley, HaperCollins UK and One More Chapter for an arc in exchange for an honest review!! 🤍
Honestly, I had high hopes for this one. The book cover is BEAUTIFUL and synopsis is very intriguing!! When I started it the book I had trouble really getting into it. I think it’s probably a case of right book, but wrong time.
The meet cute with Allie and Will was sooo RomCom esc and I loved that!!! Although, I did get put off by how it seemed more like lust at first sight than love at first sight. I just felt like if the pov had been Will’s and he had those thoughts about Allie right away it would’ve been icky…
Overall, I loved the premise and the friendship that Allie had with Martin!! It was really refreshing to see the dynamic in a romance novel.
Another thing that bothers me is the “plot twist” comes very early on and is pretty noticeable to everyone, BUT Allie 😅. This is the main reason I couldn’t finish the book, I just got a little irritated.
Overall, if you want a palate cleanser book that’s a quick read and has a few cute moments then this is for you.

The plot is a neat concept and I loved how it unfolded. I figured out the Plot Twist pretty early, before Allie did. Would definitely recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this book.
I really loved the romance between Will and Allie.
I especially like the frienship between Martinband Allie that develops. It was perfect.
The book didn't have a lot of depth and I felt the story could have been more fully developed.
Overall I felt was a fast read, but not for someone seeking a book they can get lost in. More a beach read

The book was undeniably adorable making it a delightful experience. The storyline captured my interest, and I really appreciated the pleasant ambience throughout. However, I wouldn't categorize it as a romance. Additionally, the very long chapters weren't my favorite aspect of the book, which made the reading experience a bit challenging at times. Overall, it had its strengths, but there were also elements that could have been improved.

Ally is a great main character whom I enjoyed. However the romance elements were brief and the pacing didn't really work for me.

kids i am so sorry to say i think i’m gonna dnf this one! i feel like i was attempting to read it so many times and it doesn’t feel worth the effort at this time. i would definitely still recommend it if you liked the hating game, but i fear this is not my cup of tea! thank you

The Plot Twist was an adorably easy read! Watching Allie transition out of her writers block through the combination of her friendship with Martin, a fellow writer, and Will, the cute waiter she keeps running into, was so enjoyable. I was rooting for more than one love story here as this book dove into the personal lives of Allie and Martin, and thankfully we got those happy endings!
Throughout this book, we get to see Allie grow in her sense of self-worth and ability to choose herself and her own joy. I loved seeing her be a strong, independent woman who realized that love makes her stronger, not weaker! Allie’s insistence on standing up for what she believes is right is a beautiful part of this story and her journey as a whole.
This book was so cute and so sweet! It felt like the perfect springtime read. And while it’s set in London- all the vibes are the opposite of the rainy days in springtime England!
Thank you to HarperCollins UK and OneChapter for the opportunity to read and review this book! I received a free advance copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This book was cute. I loved the storyline of struggling authors finding their way back. I liked that there was such a focus on the Allie and Martin's relationship, because it was a really sweet element to the book. The twist came a little early, in my opinion, but it was a fun addition to the story. I wish we had more into Allie's relationship with Will. They were so cute together, and I wanted to get even more from them. For a romance, I felt like it was light on that. There were a lot of other storylines that I feel like they all kind of got lost in the shuffle.

When Allie and Martin cross paths at a book event they’d both rather not be at, they realise they both have something in common. Writers block. Allie is meant to be writing her next best selling rom com, and Martin his next crime hit but they both can’t think of anything to get them started.
So they decide to help each other out. Allie gives Martin the outline for his next book while Martin tells Allie all about his 20 year marriage that he is trying to save as a starting point for hers. And it works, they both get back into writing!
However it wouldn’t be a romance novel without the male lead. Enter Will, who suddenly inspires Allie to keep writing, but choosing between her career and love is harder than she first thought. So what will she do when she might have to choose between them both?
I really liked how this was different from a traditional romance and almost had two storylines running through it. Do I want to read Martins romance now? Definitely!
Thank you Eleanor Goymer, Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this advanced reader copy of The Plot Twist. It comes out on the 25th March and it’s definitely worth a read for any romance fan.

First of all, A huge thank you to netgalley and Elenor Goymer for letting me read an ARC of the plot twist. I enjoyed it quite a bit. This story was very thought invoking and interesting. I felt as though that this book was more about self discovery than romance. The romance between allie and will felt like a subplot, not the main plot line. I understand how it can be hard to juggle many major tropes that are not related in the book. In this case it was self discovery, Romance, and A found family. The pacing of this book was slower than i expected and and i felt that the romance between Allie and Will was underdeveloped. However, i thoroughly enjoyed the father-daughter dynamic between Martin and Allie. I really appreciated the plot of them being each others writing buddies. In the end , i decided to give this book 3 stars . I look forward to see Eleanor Goymer grow as an author and create more beautiful works.

Thank you so much to Netgalley, One More Chapter and the author for providing me with an advanced reader copy for review purposes!
The plot twist follows Allie, a romance author, that after publishing several bestsellers, finds herself facing writer's block.
It took me a little bit to get into this book, mainly because of the long chapters (but that's a me problem!). It's a nice, lighthearted read that keeps you entertained. I really enjoyed all the parts about the writer life and the mentor realtionship with Martin! I think the romance deserved a little more attention, in order to be developed better and feel more real. They had just a few scenes, and some of them felt disconnected from the rest of the story.

I wanna put 2.75. I was so excited with this book but then as i continue to read it, i had difficulty moving forward. The very small conflict became big because of communication issue which makes the MC life harder. It's a nice story, predictable but somehow once the first hurdle is passed its a little easier to read.

I REALLY wanted to like this book.
The premise sounded so good and at the start, it worked.. until it didn't.
I feel like there was so much focus on her growing friendship with Martin, and her inability to write a new romance novel, that it felt like the actual romance in THIS novel was missing. I kept waiting for more information about Will and their relationships, but it never really came. I felt like I knew more about her editor than I knew about Will at the end of the story, so I never really cared if the relationship made it.
Overall, I enjoyed the book but it didn't feel like it fulfilled what was promised.

This book did not disappoint! I absolutely adored the characters, this book had such a homey feel to it that I can’t explain, and the cover is beautiful

2,5 🌟
Sadly, I wasn’t too fond of this book. It all started with me strongly disliking the main character, which had an effect on the story as a whole for me. I thought the main character was naïve, selfish, and the decisions she made did not resemble her age. So many of the main character’s problems could’ve been solved by communicating like an adult, which sadly she didn’t most of the time.
I did really like the storyline of Angie and Martin, even though I also disliked Martin at times.
I liked Will, but at times I felt like his love for Allie made him rather blind.
I’m sure this book will be perfect for others, but personally it wasn’t my cup of tea!
