Cute, lighthearted story. I liked the characters. I wish the love story was a little more fleshed out but I enjoyed the plot twist between Martin and Will .

This book was so cute, and I loved every bit of it. I am a huge sucker for rom-com books, and Allie and Will’s story was chef’s kiss! Martin was my favorite character in the book, and I couldn’t help put picture Mr. Feenie from the sitcom Boy Meets World as his character look alike. He was so stinking cute, and I just adored his quick wit and humor. I also over Jess because her friendship with Allie really felt real and would be a best friend I would love to have in real life. Also, I love the fact that Jess tracked down Will at the end and made him give her an answer and helped orchestrate Will’s big romantic gesture. Simply put, this was the best rom-com book I have read this year, and only feedback is I wish the spice was written in more in regards to Will and Allie’s initial coupling at his flat.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

The Plot Twist got off to a slow start for me. It wasn't until about 40% in that I became more invested in the characters, though I was able to predict many of the major plot points. I thought the ending was well written and realistic, weighing the emotions of both characters in the situation.

Overall, a very pleasant read!

The plot twist is a book following the mc Allie who is a writer. Allie is struggling with the ability to write another book having developed severe writers block when she meets Martin another writer going through a similar circumstance and decide to help each other out with plot ideas.

I absolutely adored this book, there was a few slow points where I wasn’t sure if I would love the book as much as I do but by the end of the book I had completely fallen in love with the story.

I love the premise of the book, it’s not the first book where I’ve seen two writers working together but this is definitely a very different spin on it, and was a fun and exciting read.

Thank you Netgalley and HarperCollins UK, one more chapter for the arc

I'm at 70% and really struggling to convince myself to finish. I like the general premise and the father figure relationship, but cannot understand why the MC made many of her decisions that seemed counterproductive to both the plot and the relationship.
First time reading this author and hope it's just a personal thing for me and it's enjoyed by others!

While I liked the premise of Eleanor Goymer's The Plot Twist and the characters were very relatable, I struggled to get into the story. Parts seemed repetitive, and some would have benefited from more build-up. I found myself skimming along to see what was going to happen. I did finish hoping for a great ending, but it was just so...so. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the ARC ebook I read and reviewed. All opinions are my own.

I’m at 50% and I can’t bring myself to finish this.
The premise sounded really good and the story started out good, but the pace is really slow and the overall execution of the story is not what I expected or what I think this book could’ve been.
I’m at 50% and I really don’t know what else is to happen other than unnecessary drama. The “Plot Twist” was so obviously hinted at that and the reveal of it could’ve been done so much better.
I also don’t vibe with the MC Allie at all, her choices regarding work, her love life and telling the truth are just not understandable to me. Also I think she is really immature for someone that is supposed to be in their 30s and the writer of 7 bestsellers…
The only thing that kind of hooked me was Martin Clark and his wife but even that fall flat for me with what happened in the middle of the book and the other side plot regarding Allies publisher just seems so unnecessary to me.
Overall I’m just really disappointed…

Thank you for the ARC!

Allie is a prolific romance bestseller but is in a terrible writer’s block and in a relationship that’s going nowhere. She meets Martin, a household crime novelist who is also stuck. They decide to become writer partners and exchange genres. In the meantime, Allie breaks up with her boyfriend and meets a super cute waiter at a book event.

This was a cute read, albeit a little too slow paced sometimes where some chapters were just Allie’s inner thoughts. There’s also the twist that the book is named after that’s pretty easy to figure out and isn’t that of a twist that causes some havoc, but it was resolved with some actual communication.

I’d recommend it!

This book tells a story of an author who lost her believe in happy ending and her journey through writers block. To be honest I did not enjoy this book I found the character development to be shallow and was unable to connect with them. Furthermore I felt no excitement for the story and felt no happy thrill that romance novels often give me.

Super cute, easy romcom with nothing crazy going on. I really enjoyed the two authors getting together aspect.

3.5 stars. Gomer is a new author for me and The Plot Twist was a fun read! I enjoyed the storyline and unique twists and turns in the characters and the story. I did struggle a little with the reactions of both main characters in how they responded to the secret being revealed. I didn't feel their reactions were realistic. And I wanted a few more details added to parts of the story. Overall an entertaining read! Thanks Netgalley

Thank you to @OneMoreChapter for my copy of *The Plot Twist* by Eleanor Goymer.

I devoured this book in just two days! It follows Allie and her journey in the publishing world as she struggles to regain her spark.

I really enjoyed the relationship between Martin and Allie. Their shared stories of crime and romance brought a smile to my face, especially as I saw how their friendship developed.

I love how dedicated Martin is to his wife, Angie; his care for her truly shines through.

I also empathize with Verity, who finds herself in a difficult situation, and Jake sounds like a horrible boss—truly hard to work with.

If you’re looking for a book that will make you smile and swoon, this is it!

I found this book kinda difficult to read just because I couldn't relate/connect with the main characters. I am someone who needs to either enjoy the writing or just like the characters and in that case it didn't work. That being said, I liked the premise of the book, I mean it had potential but I was left a bit disappointed. The story dragged for me at times and overall I found it bland...

*The Plot Twist* by Eleanor Goymer is an enjoyable read, though it doesn’t quite live up to its potential. As the plot unfolded, it felt a bit predictable. While the characters are likable, I struggled to connect with them on a deeper level. The pacing is uneven, with some sections dragging on longer than necessary. That said, Goymer’s writing is engaging enough to keep you turning the pages. Overall, it’s a decent read, but it didn’t quite deliver the excitement I expected.

A huge thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and Eleanor Goymer for providing me with an ARC of The Plot Twist in exchange for my honest review.

In The Plot Twist, Eleanor Goymer crafts an engaging romance centered around Allie Edwards, a romcom author grappling with a frustrating case of writer's block. Allie’s creativity seems to have hit a wall, but things take an interesting turn when she meets another author who is also stuck in a creative rut. Together, they strike up a pact to help each other push through their blocks and rediscover their inspiration. As Allie navigates this partnership, she also faces a personal upheaval when her relationship comes to an end. But fate (and perhaps a bit of serendipity) steps in when she meets Will, a charming caterer, at a publishing event.

Goymer excels at creating a lighthearted and relatable atmosphere. The chemistry between Allie and Will is delightful, and while their romantic trajectory may follow familiar romcom tropes, it doesn’t diminish the charm of their story. In fact, the predictability is part of the novel's comfort and appeal. Allie’s challenges, both professional and personal, are portrayed with humor and authenticity, making her a protagonist readers can root for.

What makes The Plot Twist stand out is not just the central romance but also the well-developed subplots. The dynamic between Allie and her fellow struggling author offers a refreshing take on collaboration, competition, and the writing process. Goymer cleverly weaves themes of creative burnout and perseverance into the narrative, giving the story an extra layer of depth. The secondary characters, from quirky publishing industry insiders to supportive friends, add color and texture to the world Goymer builds. Each of them plays a role in Allie’s journey, enhancing the novel's emotional resonance.

While the story delivers the expected feel-good moments, Goymer’s writing ensures that the journey feels satisfying rather than cliché. Her prose is witty and engaging, making the novel a pleasure to read from start to finish. The insights into the life of a romcom writer are particularly entertaining, offering a playful, self-aware perspective on the genre itself.

In conclusion, The Plot Twist is a delightful, uplifting read that fans of romantic comedy will surely enjoy. It offers a perfect blend of humor, heart, and a touch of behind-the-scenes literary life. If you’re looking for a book that embraces the joy of storytelling, personal growth, and second chances, this one’s for you. I’m eagerly looking forward to reading more of Eleanor Goymer’s works and seeing what she has in store next.

The Plot Twist by Eleanor Goymer was a cute, funny, quick read - just what I needed.

I thoroughly enjoyed the relationship between Allie and Martin. A wholesome and platonic M/F friendship with nothing romantic in-between, but oh, the banter! A basic found family, including Martin's wife.

The love interest, Will, was a snack! This relationship felt like I was reading a movie play out in front of my eyes. Hot, humorous, genuine, loving...all of the things we look for in a partner.

Read this if you love rom-coms with a twist (pun intended)! You won't be disappointed.

Thank you so much to One More Chapter | HarperCollins UK, NetGalley, and Eleanor Goymer for the request to read this book. I humbly give my honest opinion above.
