'Still the One' is a second chance romance with an interesting premise, set mostly in a hospital and apartment while one of the characters is recovering from an accident. I probably should've known from the beginning that it wasn't going to be the book for me - I love travel, interesting adventures and different settings, and this one was as claustrophobic as it gets. There was a lot of longing and pining between the characters without much action or chemistry and their relationship, both present and past, just didn't feel realistic or captivating to me.
The book is well written and easy to read, it's definitely not all bad - it just didn't really meet my preferences of what I look for in a rom-com.

This book was so much fun to read! The banter and tension between Eve and Foster was jam packed and made it hard to stop reading. Foster and Eve were once married after a whirlwind romance that took them by storm. 5 years later, they’ve separated and are no longer in contact….until Foster gets in a terrible accident and fate brings them back together. While most of the setting is in a hospital and based in the past, the story brings such a cozy feeling. I enjoyed the side characters and the pacing leading to the happy ending. I’m giving this 4 stars because a lot of Eve and Foster’s inner monologues were kind of repetitive and led me to feeling annoyed at how often I read “we can’t be together for x or x reasons”. Overall, I would recommend this book if you love cozy reads with longing and second chance romances!

I loved all the side characters!! Phil and Genevieve seemed like they'd be alot of fun!! But I didn't love that there wasn't any spice in this book.

Overall, this was a cute read!!! And while I'm not a big fan of second chance romance (you always know how it'll end) I really enjoyed this book!! As usual, Aimee has written a book filled with great characters and moments and I'm really looking forward to reading whatever Aimee writes next!!

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book.

Five years ago, nursing student Eve and extreme sports motorcycle rider Foster met, fell in love, and got married in the span of a month...and then Foster went back to his life of travel and competition and Eve was left sitting at home. She left, leaving Foster with only a note and a demand for divorce and hasn't seen him since. Then, he's wheeled into her ER trauma room after seriously injuring himself during a competition. She can't explain it to her friends but feels compelled to be at his bedside while he's in a coma and starts to recover. When he's told he's not well enough to fly home, she offers up her tiny apartment and nursing ability to help him recover, insisting that she once loved him and it's the least she can do. It's pretty apparent that both have a lot of emotional baggage to work through but they still have feelings for each other. I absolutely loved this second-chance romance from new-to-me author Aimee Brown and can't wait to read more of the same author.

thank you Net Galley for an ARC of "Still the One" in return for my honest review!

4 stars!!

this book follows Evie (a trauma nurse) and Guy "Foster" (an FMX racer). they met, fell in love, and got married - all within 30 days!! their marriage fell apart, and she thought that would be the last of it, until 5 years later, he lands in her ER.

I am usually not a fan of "Insta-Love", but this was done so well and tastefully!! I loved the plot, it is such a fun idea and was well executed. I also loved that there was no spice, it was not needed!

my only complaint - I wish there had been more of the love confession and what came after! instead, the book ended. but it was so cute!!!

definitely would recommend this second-chance romance! a few things I specifically loved:
1. the Taylor Swift mention
2. the memory flashbacks were SO cute!!!
3. his POV in the hospital!

This book was a very light hearted read, it had no spice but I don't think the book is better or worse for it, I don't think it needed it and I enjoyed watching Eve and Fosters relationship rekindle.
Overall its a great book for someone who likes closed door or no spice books.
Personally it was not my favorite read this year. I found the book to be repetitive, the characters lacked depth to me, and overall just felt very flat.
I wish it had of had more angst, more will they wont they, a little more of how they found a way to balance their lives to be together that the entire book was premised on. It really did skip over that major part of why they broke up in the first place.

Thank you to Aimee Brown, NetGalley, and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read this book.

I enjoyed this book although it did take a bit for me to get into it. A second chance romance, with forced proximity. I enjoyed the banter between the 2 MCs although I never really connected with the FMC. A quick, easy read so I was not as concerned with feeling disconnected from the FMC.

I really enjoyed Eve & Foster and going on their journey. I loved watching them find their happily ever after. Sometimes the second time around is more than you think it ever could be!

I voluntarily reviewed this book.

This book was super cute, and though it's not one that will stick in my brain for years to come, I really enjoyed it!

Eve and Foster have this really messy situation, and when Eve is forced to leave him suffer or give him her bed so he doesn't injure himself more, she really is not an ice queen at all. This was a dynamic that I really loved because why would we want her to be an ice queen in this situation? WE DON'T

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the arc!

I enjoyed this one. There was a lot of tension and some will they or won’t they energy. I do think the ending seemed a bit rushed. I feel like the last part could have been longer and given a bit more resolution to the story.

This is a second-chance story about a former married couple who couldn't understand each other and, because of that, lost one another. Five years later, fate gives them another chance when Foster has an accident and Eve discovers she’s still listed as his next of kin, Eve knows she can’t let him wake up in hospital with no one by his side.

This could have been a good story about a second chance at love—the idea was wonderful (it interested me), but it failed to resonate with me, and I couldn’t connect with the story.

The story lacked more thoughtful dialogues and character motivations. There was also a lack of intrigue from the very beginning. We learn too much information right away; it would have been better to present it in smaller portions.

Also, the chapter from the main character’s perspective in the present could have been introduced closer to the middle. It would be better to start by telling about their past relationship, gradually transitioning from the past to the present.

This book introduced a fresh, intriguing plot that kept me curious. The writing itself flowed nicely, making it clear the author has a knack for unique storylines. That said, I couldn’t quite connect with the characters as much as I wanted to; they felt just a bit out of reach. And while I know some great authors stick to single quotes for dialogue, I'm not a fan and always find it a bit distracting. Still, if you're looking for a cute second-chance, slow-burn romance, this might be just the book for you!

This book is a will they/won’t they second chance romance. At times it was confusing to follow and keep track of who was talking. But it was a quick, enjoyable read.

Eve and Foster had a whirlwind romance and wedding five years ago. Three months after the wedding Eve left him, returned to her hometown Portland and filed for divorce. Since then they had no contact. Now Foster has had a severe motorcycle accident and happens to be brought into the E.R. where Eve works. As she learns that she is still his emergency contact and he is not able to travel she decides to nurse him back to health - for old times sake. Of course old feelings reappear but the problems that made their marriage fail the first time are still the same...
This book is really a slow-burn romance, the characters spend a lot of time together and reminisce about their love story but they only kiss twice. While both characters are likable enough I couldn't really relate to their love story and I felt the problems they had were solved rather easily in the end. Also I felt like there was not really anything happening in the book so while it was an okay book it really wasn't a must-read for me.

This is a delightful second-chance romance that truly captivates the reader. Eve and Guy are a charming couple whose chemistry is apparent from the start. Their journey is filled with relatable experiences and emotions that many can connect with. As I delved deeper into their story, I found myself fully engaged with their struggles and triumphs. It was heartwarming to witness their growth as individuals and as a couple, making their eventual reunion all the more rewarding. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know both characters and was invested in their development throughout the narrative.

Cute store of Eve and Foster who got married after knowing each other for 30 days but end up divorcing. Then he comes into her ER and she is still his emergency contact, she decided to take care of him! It’s a will they won’t they story. They still love each other but with all the hurt they experienced they don’t know if it’s a good idea to give love a second chance.

I really liked this book, it was a good pace and I enjoyed all the characters (Phil is amazing!) There is no spice in this book but you can feel the tension and love that the two characters have.

Thank you NetGalley and Aimee Brown for the opportunity to read this!

While this was a cute book, I was not totally in love with it. It was a quick, fun, and easy read with likable characters. Eve and Foster have great chemistry from the very beginning. It was well-written and had a natural flow of events. The book was too cheesy for my taste, such as how she curses. I understand it's her character, but it seemed a little cringey after a while.

Read if you like:

- He falls first
- Second chance

Still The One, by Aimee Brown, is a slow-burn romance with more heart than spice. Is it predictable? Of course. But, getting there is half the fun. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the ARC ebook I read and reviewed. All opinions are my own.

I gave this a really good shot but it's a DNF @ 50% for me. Everything felt forced and I did not connect with any of the characters.
