A huge thank you to the publisher, NetGalley and Aimee Brown for this ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
As a sucker for second chance romance and fan of medical dramas, I had to read this book.
Overall, I liked the story and the forced proximity. The dreams and flashbacks were a great way of giving insight into the characters’ past and why their relationship ended. There was definitely tension between them, but no spice (which made sense given the mc’s situation).
The ending and epilogue were cute, but I didn't like the conflict and miscommunication. I would've wished for them to sit down and have a mature conversation where they say what they mean. Eve said the opposite of what she actually wanted and expected Foster to read her mind, which in my opinion wasn't fair to him.
I’d still recommend this book to anyone who prefers clean romance with only kissing and likes second chance. The acknowledgement broke my heart – I’m sorry the author and her family had to go through that and sincerely hope that they're okay now.
The premise was a great idea, but the execution was tough. The dialogue was meant to be “flirty” but came off immature and hard to read. There was no rekindling, it was just insta-love and fell flat.
A sweet, quick read but, for me, I needed to know more about the characters and their connection.
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read this
I liked this a lot! I did get really tired of the interruptions right in the middle of their crucial conversations; once is a coincidence, but so many times it really took me out of the story. I really appreciated the pace of the way they came back together; it wasn't instant, it took work.
Thank you to the publisher, author and Netgalley for the ARC. I am very grateful to be able to review upcoming releases.
This book fell unfortunately short for me. I was drawn in by the description but left ultimately disappointed by multiple elements.
The dialogue was tough. Not very organic and often cheesy (and not in a fun romcom way). The characters felt flat and unlikeable. I have a hard time rooting for a couple “overcoming” a formerly toxic relationship due to forced proximity. As much as I wanted to like Eve, I couldn’t help but see a damaged person clinging to love from people who can’t treat her how she deserves.
There were moments I enjoyed, but overall I found this one tough to get through. I would be willing to give this author another chance, but this one just wasn’t for me.
The acknowledgments were beautiful. I am so happy that the author and her husband were able to get through the horrible experience that inspired this novel. I wish this novel was closer to their lives as I feel it would have been a much more engaging read.
I love a good marriage reconcilliation book and this one was super sweet. Eve and Fost married quickly and just as quick their marriage ended. Five years later he is in a motorcycle accident and as fate would have it he comes into Eve's trauma bay. She is shaken up and what makes matters worse is that it is on what would have been their 5th anniversary. Come to find out, she is still his emergency contact.
When Fost wakes up and realizes Eve is with him and has been the whole time he was in the hospital, he knows he can't let her go again. He plans to do whatever it takes to win her back because she is the only woman that he has ever truly loved. He just has to find out how to tell her the divorce never really went through and they have been married this whole time.
As they grow closer and he is with her as she helps him get back on his feet he has to decide if he can put her first or if work will always be his first priority.
What I loved about this book was the fact that as soon as he heard Eve's voice he knew what he had to do. If you believe in fate, kismet, whatever, you need to read this book because it is just proof that what is meant to be, will be.
Thanks to Boldwood Books, Amiee Brown and Netgalley for an early copy.
I love a second chance love story. This book brought out all of the emotions. Eve is a hardworking nurse who 5 years ago fell hard and fast for FMX rider Foster. Needless to say it didn’t work out for them back then. Foster has a major wreck on his bike and ends up in the care of non other than Eve.
Aimee Brown was able to portray raw and realistic emotions and actions that happen when you dive face first into love. The characters didn’t hold back on letting you know how they felt and their banter had me giggling. 3.75⭐️
Really makes you think about what ifs and second chances. I like the banter back and forth between characters. The jumping back and forth between the present and past was slightly frustrating for me. Especially since we were also jumping character point of views as well. I enjoyed the book but was frustrated by the main characters lack of enthusiasm or willingness to help themselves. They both seem to think the other should put in all of the effort.
It’s been five years since Eve walked out on her husband Foster and filed for divorce. Five years since she’s even seen his face. That is until he comes into her ER on the verge of dying after a terrible motorcycle crash.
Through the process of Foster healing, Eve remains by his side, conflicted by her remaining feelings for him. As she watches in fear of what will happen to him, she can’t bring herself to leave him alone.
Eve and Foster were honestly such a good pairing! They not only had such a strong love and passion for one another, but their banter was always incredible. This was a super easy, cozy read!
I'm always drawn to romance books that has one of the love interests working in a hospital so I always get excited to see them!
This book was short and sweet and did exactly what it said on the tin. There were parts that I found jarring (including Eve's strange replacements for curse words) but overall it was a perfect book for a relaxing rainy weekend.
If you’re in the mood for a quick, cheesy, closed door romance book, this is for you!
He falls first trope, injury trope, close proximity trope, second chance romance!
Eve and Foster haven’t seen each other in five years. Eve finally runs into him again when he comes in to the ER one day after a motorcross accident. The two of them clearly have some unfinished business and still yearn for each other.
Eve stays with Foster during his long road of recovery. The two of them are suddenly in close quarters together after years of not seeing each other and have no reason to avoid each other and the elephant in the room.
This book was a quick and easy read. I personally didn’t love Eve’s language choice, because she curses super politely (shiitake mushrooms, for example) and I would’ve rather there just be nothing than that. I think the intention behind it was that is who Eve is, because Foster does cuss and whatnot. Altogether, characters and romance was very sweet.
Thank you to Netgalley for this advanced readers copy!
"Still The One" is a captivating second-chance romance that beautifully explores love and healing. Five years after a tumultuous breakup, Eve Cassidy is forced to confront her past when she learns her ex-husband, Guy Foster, has been injured. As she becomes his caretaker, old feelings resurface, revealing the undeniable chemistry that still simmers between them. Aimee Brown masterfully balances heartfelt moments with tension, making their journey both relatable and steamy. The intimate setting of Eve's small apartment adds to the emotional depth, creating a perfect backdrop for their rekindled romance. A delightful read for fans of will-they-won’t-they love stories!
Pretty covers??
Dual POV and funny banter? I'm sat!!
Told y'all how I tend to sometimes judge a book by its cover, and so far it hasn't failed me!!
So guys, I got this book as an advanced reader copy through @netgalley You see, this book is 'THAT' book!
How do I describe it? 'FANTASTIC' is the word! Because the author's narrative style really pulled me in effortlessly!
Well, this book centers around Eve Cassidy, a medical practitioner, and Guy Foster, a professional FMX motorcycle rider.
Eve is that hardworking woman who is really diligent and committed to her job, but she doesn't seem to have the best love life. She was married to the love of her life five years ago, but things went sour, leading them to break apart!
Physically, they were apart, but emotionally, were they really apart? They both never stopped thinking of each other, especially the happy moments and memories they shared and everything in between.
Not too long after their five years apart, the universe had its way of bringing them back together ).
. It happened
that Foster had a severe accident that led him into a coma; he also had several iniuries that needed immediate surgery. It turned out that he was brought into the hospital where Eve works as a nurse. Eve's heart fell to the floor when she saw him in the condition he was rushed in.
During his recovery process, Eve was by his side, and somehow it caused the feelings to resurface again.
But will they rekindle their love or fear being heartbroken again? You'll have to read to find out🤭
Still The One by Aimee Brown is a sweet second chance romance, following Eve, a nurse in theER whose ex-husband, Foster finds himself as a patient following a FMX bike accident. They continue to reconnect and rediscover their feelings for each other throughout the rehabilitation process, resulting in a happy ending.
I found the story to be engaging, fast paced, and sweet. I did find myself annoyed with some of the characters especially with the big reveal as I can’t believe someone could be that aloof. But over all, it was enjoyable. If you’re looking for a zero spice romance, this book should be a consideration.
A special thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC copy of this book.
sadly this book wasn’t for me. really slow paced and the characters didn’t have much depth to them. had the mc’s had a little more banter i’d have been able to get behind it.
a nice read, but certainly not my favourite from the author.
2.5 stars. I loved both main characters and I thought the storyline was a cute idea- so why 2.5 stars? Not really sure-I think there just wasn’t enough of a connection or development of the two characters to really get me invested in them. I wanted them to be together and was happy with the ending (I dont think I’m spoiling anything-if you’re a rom com reader, you know how they end!), but there was just something missing that I can’t really put my finger on. Thanks NetGalley for the ARC.
Still The One by Aimee Brown is a sweet, feel-good romance, but it didn’t blow me away. The story of second chances between exes has its heartwarming moments, and the chemistry between the leads is definitely there. However, I found the pacing a bit slow, and the plot at times predictable. It’s a nice, cozy read for fans of light-hearted romance, but if you’re looking for something truly unique or gripping, it might not quite hit the mark.
Second chances in romance have always resonated deeply with me, and this story captured that sentiment beautifully. The complexity of the characters' relationship is what really drew me in. They leave each other, yet their bond remains unbroken by an official divorce. This lingering connection added an intriguing layer to their interactions and decisions. The tension created by their unresolved feelings kept me invested in their journey from the very beginning.
When tragedy strikes, it serves as a catalyst for their reunion, forcing them to confront their past and the choices they made. It’s in this context of shared grief that they begin to reevaluate their lives and the love they once had. The exploration of their flaws and mistakes felt authentic and relatable. Instead of falling back into each other’s arms immediately, they navigate the messy, often painful journey of rediscovery. I appreciated how the author didn’t rush their reunion; instead, they allowed the characters to genuinely reflect on what went wrong.
What I found particularly compelling was the depth with which the author portrayed their growth. Each moment they spent together was steeped in both nostalgia and a yearning to understand what had driven them apart. The tension between their past and present kept me engaged, as I found myself rooting for them to find a way back to each other. It’s a reminder that love can be messy and complicated, but it’s often through those challenges that we find clarity and strength. This story reaffirmed my belief that sometimes, love deserves a second chance.
I was so glad to be given the opportunity to read this story on NetGallery.
Guy ‘Foster’ is the FMX Moto Cross rider who lost the love of his life through making the wrong life choices.
Fast forward 5 years and through suffering a serious bike accident in Portland, he ends up in the local ER Trauma Room where his now ‘Ex’ Wife Eve Cassidy is working.
Both Foster and Eve never quite got over their feelings for each other, particularly when a certain anniversary appears in their social media accounts. They both begin to realise what they are missing after Eve decides to help Foster recuperate after his accident, and though being close together, this eventually brings out the one secret that Foster has been keeping from Eve all this time. Will this secret be the make or break of their rekindled friendship / relationship.
A swoon worthy story that I couldn’t put down and loved both Foster and Eve and how eventually ‘fate’ intervened to save the day.

Sometimes it’s the right guy but the wrong time. Still the One is a second chance contemporary romance by Aimee Brown. This is the first book I have read by this author, and it will not be the last, it was so good! It was a fast read with a dual point of view. I loved being able to get both main characters’ thoughts and perspectives. Evie and Foster, the main characters, have great chemistry seen through their witty banter and cute nicknames. It’s a slow burn, but worth it. Their connection is so evident! You will be rooting so hard for this couple and their story!
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
