Great shifter story overall. The history of the pack was interesting and the prophecy uncovering was unique.

I liked that the FMC actually took a moment to think before her next moves. She made mistakes, but recognized them and adapted. It made her a relatable character.

The MMC also has great growth in this story. As his true character unravels he just gets better and better.

The pacing is steady throughout and the ending isn't so much of a cliffhanger that you feel you're missing out. It still leaves that opening for wanting more.

I personally really liked this book. I find it hard to find books with shifters living in remote packs areas like they do here. While I don’t mind an Omegaverse book here and there, I prefer shifter based plots to take place in their own world or secluded from human society.
On to content:
Slowburn: I would say the slowburn was done well, especially when you have mates because it can get to a point of being frustrated with the main character for not noticing. I would say the news broke roughly around the 70% mark, any later though and I would’ve been screaming..
Spice: To me this was 1/5 peppers, only about 1-3 chapters but the detail wasn’t too much.

Negatives:
The dream sequence: The amount of times I was annoyed because I started a chapter and did not realize it was a dream until further in was too many times. It got to the point I skimmed the dreams because at times they felt pointless. I just wish the author had italicized the dreams so we knew when it was them verse main story.
Standalone: Currently this book is marketed as a standalone, and I don’t know if thats because the author or publisher is waiting to see the success of this book before continuing with the story. Personally I want more. I want to see Drake and Penn be alphas but also the amount of loose ends they can continue with and make great storylines out of. There are at least 3 loose ends that I have questions about and would think would make a good plot. For this reason I knocked off a star as I felt the author rushed the end a bit to tie into a bow to market as a standalone.

Please continue this universe!!!

Intense and action packed tale of shifters, betrayals, magic, loyalty and love. Past and present collide in a gripping fight to reclaim the alpha position from one obsessed with power. Grabs you from the beginning, and never lets go !

It was a nice read. I do believe that the character development could have been worked on more, and Diana's story could have been blended in more within the plot - it would have explained how the main character went from spoiled Alpha daughter to warrior. Still, it was fun.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. There were things I liked about this book, things that I didn't and at times I felt a little confused.

It was well written and it flowed well. The premise was intriguing and the blurb really brought me in. The side characters were loveable and the villain was a little but psycho (I do love a good villain)
I wanted to be sucked into this book but unfortunately it just didn't happen.
Drake is the daughter of the alpha and her life is perfect. She has everything she wants and is content to spend her days being doted on by her father. But then he is killed and by the man he had taken in as a child. Drake knows Finn well, had basically grown up with him, then he betrayed her.
This was written well. Drake's inner monologue showed that she was spoiled and doted upon. Her shock at the betrayal was genuine and her grief was described in a believable way.
Enter Penn. He is a quiet kind of shifter, I'm assuming that he should've been the quiet, dangerous and brooding type but at the beginning he just came across as trying to get through the day guarding Drake,
Eleva is Drake's best friend and one of the few sources of amusement in the book (yes, I'm also including the widows in the entertainment arena). She is loyal, kind and is a great sidekick, however I feel as though her character was underutilised.
Finn. Oh my, isn't he a bad guy? Not only did he kill her father, but continues on with his little killing spree under the assumption that the prophecy talks about him. Silly boy. He has fallen in with a caster and the pack basically goes to hell in a hand basket. He has a bit of depth to him but most of the time he's just in the background giving orders or starring in his own drama in front of the whole pack.
Now, I have a few pet hates and this book niggled me with some of them. The white wolf. The white wolf has to save the world. The prophecy that is only half baked/mostly forgotten. And dragging out the secrets and not answering questions.
I did not understand the world. I spent half the time confused. Did the wolves and other supernaturals live adjacent to humans? What time period was this? There was mention of dorian grey, phones, herbs and small town markets. I just didn't get it, maybe I missed something because I don't recall anything explaining that the humans were modern day, although I suppose it could've implied it with how far back the memories go.
Talking of memories... They started out of nowhere and explained nothing for so long. It was beyond frustrating. I felt as though I was reading From Blood and Ash all over again (Loved it but the dragging out of Poppy being in the dark was just painful, I'm talking the whole series, not just that one book). AND SHE DIDN'T REALLY TELL ANYONE ABOUT THEM FOR AGES! things would have been explained so much quicker if she had of just talked to someone. It was just all so slow.
Drake was not badass, not in the slightest. Penn saved her almost every single time. She was defiant and while that was mostly in her head, I liked it. I didn't think that she had done anything overly stupid and didn't feel like she spent all of the book whining in her own head.
Drake and Penn's relationship was almost like a slow burn, although when she first touched him in the book, her body reacted (how to highlight who the love interest is without a huge neon, flashing sign stating it) but it gets a little complicated when her daddy died, killed by Penn's brother. Penn's quiet determination pays off and they become friendly again, romance blossoming from there. There is a little bit of spice, graphic mention of it but only a few instances.
I loved that once they 'broke the seal', that they didn't start going at it every five minutes, at inappropriate times and places, sending the plot into the background and overtaking everything. It was written well and tastefully, adding to the story, not taking away from it.
The twists at the end were nice touches and how it ended was satisfying. There's room for a sequel or two.

The he Lost Pack is a thrilling journey of vengeance, romance, and self-discovery set in the tumultuous world of the Ophiuchus Wolf Pack. This book kept me hooked from start to finish - I tried to go slow with it, I really did, but ended up finishing it in just over two days.

What I loved most about this story was the relationship between the two main characters, Drake and Penn. Penn is my favorite type of male lead—strong, silent, and capable, with an intense yet gentle sense of protection over Drake. He’s fearless and smart, but what really stood out to me was how much space he gives Drake to grow. He believes in her strength, which allows her to stand on her own two feet. This dynamic was beautifully written, and their banter had me laughing and blushing in equal measure. Drake is a brilliant female lead—witty, smart, and skilled at playing the political games that surround her. Despite all the chaos, she stays true to herself and her values.

The writing style was another highlight for me. The authors used rich imagery that made the world feel immersive and kept the pace fast and engaging. The dream sequences were a particularly clever way to explore the history of the pack while adding intrigue and excitement to the story. I found myself looking forward to those scenes, as they deepened both the plot and Drake's understanding of her situation.

Overall, The Lost Pack delivers on multiple levels—it’s witty, romantic, thrilling, and sexy. I truly connected with Drake and Penn, and I loved watching Drake’s growth and strength evolve as the story unfolded. This is a book I highly recommend for fans of paranormal romance, shifters, and fantasy

Thank you so much to NetGalley for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 but rounding up to 5 since I can't do .5 stars here - I loved this book and would absolutely recommend it
🌶️🌶️Intimate scenes but milder language

When Drake Aspens Father, the Alpha of the pack, is slain, Drakes life is turned on its head. Everything she's ever known changes.

If you like -

Some spice, Then this is the book for you!

Drake faces the ultimate betrayal after her father is killed, she is super angry throughout the story, as is understandable, her character has plenty of development throughout to the story, with lots of twist and surprises on the way, she is a strong FMC with alot of strong female support, Especially Evera, we all need a bestie like her!

Overall I really enjoyed the book, there are some holes in the story that could have been explored further, like who were the Zodiac wolves? What happened to them? etc
HOWEVER, I know Sophie has a few book series out that probably do, or will, cover those additional storylines.

Will her anger and desire for revenge destroy her, and those she loves? Well, you'll have to give it a read and find out!!

An enjoyable read with likeable characters (aside from the obvious villains). Drake & Penn's love story was fun & sexy, though I really wish we got to know more about Diana's relationship with Lucien & her life as a vampire. A+ side characters; Frann, Grace, & Eleva are the people you want on your side when shit goes down.

Many thanks to Sophie Davis, Sophie Davis Books, & Netgalley for providing me with an ARC.

This is one of the best wolf shifter books I’ve read for YEARS.
I loved the fated mates aspect, that love is transcendent through time.

Drake was the perfect blend of “princess” and warrior, she’d had an easy life until the unexpected death of her father, she doesn’t have the best experience but the end is incredible.

I loved how there’s clearly space for follow on books, but it ends neatly enough that it could be standalone.

Penn was the perfect beta, to his TRUE alpha. The way he supported Drake like a quiet undercurrent that is always there, championing her from the wings, patiently loving her while she faced challenging situations.

I’m eager to see another book and revisit the pack.

I absolutely devoured this book and I'm going to be suffering through the wait for the next book- it definitely can't come soon enough.

This book truly gave me all the feels. Heartbreak. Anger. Happiness. Love. Just, all of it.

The story is definitely a bit of a different spin than any other shifter book I've read and that's a wonderful thing!

Great story, and very well-written! The plot sees Drake discover who she really is and her own strength. There's a lot of pain and hurt along the way, but she pushes through and in the end it's worth it. Penn starts off "grumpy" but quickly you see him open up and soften. The story line was very interesting and kept me flipping pages!

ARC READ - Publication Date: 03.12.2024

Genre: Fantasy, Romantasy

Themes: Fated lovers, betrayal, vengeance, destiny, prophecy

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Spice Level: 🔥🔥 - 🔥🔥🔥

World-building: Mild complexity

Swipe to the next photo for a sneak peek of the book description!

Okay, let me start by saying: when I first started reading The Lost Pack, it felt a little YA for me, and I wasn’t fully hooked at first. The plot was interesting, but I was missing that je ne sais quoi. I mean, it was good, but something was… off.

Then—bam!—everything clicked into place. The moment when it all comes together? Totally worth the wait! Suddenly, all the pieces of the story fit like magic, and I couldn’t put it down. Once that “aha!” moment happened, I was hooked until the very last page.

Now, let’s talk spice. 🔥 The heat definitely picks up toward the middle and end of the book. Nothing too wild (yet!), but there’s definitely enough 🔥🔥 to make you blush and think, “Yep, fan art is coming for sure.” 🤭

Also, can we talk about the main character for a sec? I was a little nervous about whether we’d get a strong, independent female lead, but trust me, Sophie Davis delivers. By the end of the book, you’ll be cheering for this badass heroine all the way.

The second half of the book really picked up speed, and now that I’m done, I NEED book two yesterday. These characters have so much more to give, and I need to know what happens next! So @seesophiewrite if you’re reading this, please, PLEASE tell me there’s more coming soon! 😂

This book is super vivid—I could totally picture each character in my head. It feels like it needs to be a trilogy, or maybe even a TV show down the line (hello, binge-watch potential!). 😍

If you love shifters, vampires, prophecies, a sprinkle of magic, and just the right amount of mystery, The Lost Pack should definitely be on your TBR!

Review: this was such a fun read! Within 7% of the book, my mouth was open so wide it hurt! The betrayal in this book had my heart pounding, making me want to devour it more and more.
I personally have never read a shifter/wolf story before, but I will say this did not disappoint.
The complexity to the FMC, and the fate that is written in the books is astronomical.
While this story wasn’t just taken place in the present, my attention was held on tight no matter what time was being portrayed, usually I have a hard time going back and forth.
The FMC is such an aspiring soul, and has so much strength in her to bite her tongue. There were moments in the books where I just wanted to SCREAM at unnamed people ;)
Throughout the whole book, it has you literally guessing on the outcome, and other certain answers to some riddles. The ending wasn’t exactly what I had been guessing throughout the story, which makes it even better!

My favorite quote : “I like being your dirty little secret.”

Ahhh such a good book! Will definitely be reading Sophie’s other books as this was incredible!

“The Lost Pack,” by Sophie Davis

What I liked:
-The Story; Fae, Shifters, Vampires, etc. Her alpha father is murdered, and she being held captive, and her jailer is the brother of the new alpha who killed her father. Loved the whole idea.
-I loved the tension between her and Penn who is her jailer. So much hate but also so much forced proximity!
-Loved the FMC, she is strong, but the inner turmoil was so good. I love how she was pulled in so many ways throughout the book.
-The snake and flower art in the book is so beautiful.

I really liked this book and will definitely be reading more books by Sophie Davis. 4 out of 5 stars.

Thank you for the ARC, Netgalley.

3.5 ⭐️ - excellent story but would’ve loved some more detail and twists in the last 20-30% of the book. The end felt a bit rushed but overall I very much enjoyed this!

I’m so thankful I was able to read this as an ARC. It was such a fun read and I loved the way the story developed. It took me a while to get involved but I am so happy that I did because the world and the way Sophie weaves her tale and builds her world was so much fun.

What can I say I love a slow burn, enemies to lovers.

3.5 rounded up

This story focuses on Drake who is the daughter of an alpha wolf. It begins with a celestial event that triggers a prophecy for the pack and follows the aftermath and struggle for power.

I did enjoy reading it and wanted to find out how the conflict was going to be resolved. That said, I didn’t become very invested in Drake and Penn and their developing relationship. The early dream sequences felt a bit disjointed from the storyline.

I was given a copy by the publisher via NetGalley (thank you!) and all opinions are my own.

"One warrior must fall so the true warrior can rise."

Thank You https://www.netgalley.com/ and Sophie Davis for the ARC!

Sophie Davis is a very new author to me and she really nailed it with her work. I just can't wait to read her other books.

It was a randomly requested book with lot of uncertainity, but as soon as I began reading, the book had me hooked from the very first page.

The Lost Pack is a perfect urban fantasy with lots of actions and adventures.

What I Liked

Hello??? BETA WILLLIAMS??? He is everything in this book!
Sure, Drake our FMC is a strong headed character, but I wouldn't take someone else for Penn any other way.
And, our show stealer, Evera freaking Williams, she had me cracked up so many times, and i really adored her character. Her friendship with Drake was so wholesome.
My Alpha

Though the world building was a bit slow, but it was worth it with all the 'dreamy' riddles.

Overall, an amazing 5 star read, definitely one of my favorite of 2024.
