This was a very different book than what I expected, but I really did enjoy it. I loved how Cordelia took care of monstrous and predatory men. I really enjoyed her wit and how she planned everything out and was able to get away with her vigilante justice. I really enjoyed the ending and was pleasantly surprised by this book.

What a fun debut! It definitely gave me Dexter and YOU vibes right away, but as a female version in Cordelia Black. It made me laugh many times and I really enjoyed the narration! The performance by Stefanie Kay was spot on!

This gave me dexter vibes and I loved it. The main characters struggles, the moral questions, the sassy attitude.. This book was just so much fun.

Cordilla Black makes bad men pay for their crimes when the justice system doesn't. She is meticulous and good at her "hobby". Cordilla greatest joy is her bestfriend and her daughter. When Simon walks into their life, Cordilla must play nice while trying to figure out what it is about him that makes her question his intentions. While trying to play nice, the rest of Cordillas life seems to be unraveling.
A great storyline with the female Dexter as the main character. I enjoyed most of the characters, and the writing. There were several areas that got repetitive and dragged for me. These could have been edited & not affected the storyline at all. There was no new information. The ending, though not a cliff hanger, left several lose threads. Possibly a sequel in the works?

This Girl's a Killer is a fun debut thriller from Emma C. Wells.
Cordelia Black is many things: an ambitious pharma rep, a godmother, a best friend. But she's also a vigilante, a female Dexter who lives by her own code and culls South Louisiana of predators who abuse and assault, but never seem to get caught.
Though this book was over 400 pages, it didn't feel that way! I listened to the audiobook (narrated exceptionally well by Stefanie Kay) and blew through the first 1/3 of the book while I was making dinner one night. I inhaled the rest the following day; it had me so on the edge of my seat!
I had a ton of fun reading it, and laughed out loud several times. The flippant humor really worked for me. I would love to see this turn into a book series, and perhaps be adapted for film.
If you're a fan of books like the Finlay Donovan series, you should absolutely give this a try!

This was a crazy thrill ride from start to finish. If Dexter was a woman it would definitely be Cordelia Black. This female serial killer will have you cheering her on and laughing all at the same time. This thriller is addictive, suspenseful, and very entertaining. To say this thriller is intense is an understatement. The narration added a layer of intrigue while masterfully bringing the story to life. Thank you, NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for my audiobook.

The narrator was phenomenal. She did a great job bringing the character’s voice to life. She made the story more enjoyable.

Cordelia Black embodies the essence of Sloane from Butcher & Blackbird, serving as a compelling female equivalent to Dexter. As a vigilante, she targets men who escape the justice system, delivering a gripping narrative that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I’ve always been captivated by stories that blend humor with an engaging plot. If you enjoy Butcher & Blackbird but seek a version with less romance and fewer graphic elements, this novel is for you!
***Thank you to NetGalley, Emma C. Wells, and Dreamscape Media for graciously sending me the audiobook to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***

This title is spot on! Cordelia is a pharmaceutical representative with shades of Dexter and Finlay Donovan (if you haven't read that series get on it STAT) and she performs a service by getting rid of the bad guys but disposes of them with a guy who retrieves the body and delivers them. When he gets caught she is sure she is next but somehow she is not. Hot cop/boyfriend who is on the case but he doesn't know he is actually looking for her. She is part fairy godmother, best friend, killer, and when her best friend starts seeing someone she realizes he is not who is appears to be. What is she going to do. Part thriller, part comedy, and all good.

A very interesting premise, but I couldn't get on board. I think it could have been the sharp intro to the issue so early on in the book.

This one is good. It's funny in a tragic way, however it's the serial killer you feel bad for, not the victims.
Cordelia only kills men who deserve it, and she's been getting away with it for so long. She has it all worked out and no one would ever suspect her, with her perfect life, perfect clothes, and well-established career. But then the problems begin, and they just keep getting bigger and bigger.

This Girl's a Killer is about a fun pharmaceutical rep who might just be a serial killer on the side, but only the bad guys! I liked the premise a lot. We have seen "good" serial killers before, but a blonde fashionista was a welcome addition. Unfortunately, there were just too many plot holes and inconsistencies for me on this one. Still a fun read, and one that I finished in about 2 days! But be prepared to suspend your disbelief... like a lot lol.
Thanks to NetGalley, Emma C. Wells, and Dreamscape Media for the chance to read and review. My opinions are my own!

If you love Dexter, this book is for you! Cordelia Black is a posh pharmaceutical rep who also disposes of bad men in her spare time. Who would suspect a woman wearing Jimmy Choos as a killer? This book had me laughing out loud and also shaking with anxiety worried how she would get out of a particularly sticky situation (iykyk). This is Emma C. Wells DEBUT and, honestly, I was shocked to learn that little tidbit because the humor is on point, the pacing is perfect, and I was thoroughly entertained the entire time! I’ll definitely be reading whatever she puts out next!
Stefanie Kay is the perfect choice for narrating this book! She amplified all of the sarcasm, humor, and looming dread with her performance. The story pulled me in and Stefanie’s narration kept me hooked! I binged this one in a day and enjoyed every second!

I wanted to love this one, but sometimes you just don’t vibe with the protagonist and this was the case with me. The inner dialogue of the protagonist was repetitive throughout the book to the point where it was hard not to skim. How many times did we need to be told that people don’t assume a woman dressed in high-end clothes isn’t dangerous? How many times do we need to hear about how competent Cordelia Black is? How many times do we need to hear how being meticulous is key? Constantly. If these paragraphs could have been edited down, it would have tightened up this read immensely. The author also heavily relied on telling rather than showing, which left the characters feeling more devoid of emotion than I prefer.
Largely due to the overwriting, the plot of the story felt painfully slow. It was buried underneath those unnecessary repetitions in a way that drastically decreased the tension and the feeling of high stakes that should have been present. Also, despite how often we’re told that the protagonist is meticulous, she makes a lot of stupid mistakes and spur-of-the-moment decisions. So which is it?
I wouldn’t call this a thriller, and it often felt more comedic (and even slapstick) in general. My thanks to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for allowing me to read this work. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This is a DNF for me, the premise is really interested but I could not get into the audiobook narration. Its just not the style that I enjoy. I will try to read this with my eyes instead because I think the plot will be interesting
Thanks to netgalley and Dreamscape media for this ALC

This one was a blast! I’m all in for an unapologetically bold, fearless feminist vigilante—mix in a Dexter-style plot, and I’m instantly captivated! I’m a sucker for a well-crafted anti-hero, and this one definitely hits the mark!
This isn’t your usual serial killer thriller—it brings in a compelling found family element with a richly layered cast of relatable characters.
I loved the humor in this one and seeing how quickly everything spirals out of control. Is it a bit far-fetched at times? Absolutely! But trust me—sit back, enjoy this wickedly entertaining debut for the wild ride it is, and don’t overthink

Thank you so much to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for an eARC of this book in exchange for a review.
Cordelia is a ‘Dexter’ type serial killer with a code, though she somehow takes offense to the title. She Is also a pharmaceutical sales rep who is getting their number 1 sale items removed from market due to some serious side effects that her company attempted to cover up. As if that wasn’t enough to develop the plot of this book, she is also newly dating a cop (solid, reasonable choice) and is introduced to her BEST FRIEND’s (it’s a really important title which is why she says it appx 50 times) new boyfriend. And has to navigate letting her BESTIE continue to make truly terrible choices while also protecting her.
I usually try to front load a review with the parts that I found redeemable about a book. I’m disappointed to let you know that there are literally none.
Cordelia as a character reads as a caricature. She belabors how she’s usually perfect and so organized but literally from page one she is messing things up and making some wild and terrible choices. She is full of contradictions in this way. She is meant to be the grown-up caretaker of her best friend and her daughter and is able to keep a fancy job and read people really well yet from the offset she shows no aptitude for any of these things. She can’t get a read on a new man in her friend’s life but as you read him he is very clearly a terrible person, but she is making excuses for him? Make it make sense. She’s the mature one who has it all together but reads like a maybe 18-year-old continuously using infantilizing nick names (take a shot every time she says ‘sugar’ ‘sugar bear’ or ‘bestie’). She just had zero redeemable qualities which made it difficult to follow her hijinks.
The other characters were just as unlikable. Her best friend is an idiot. She has an established terrible choice in partners but wants to go be a travelling nurse with a guy who is introduced like a week before this plot point is revealed. Also why did these two characters read like they were going to fall in love at the end. I thought for sure with how both characters were being developed they were in love. That felt like wasted potential and I honestly would have liked it more.
All in all there were just too many plot holes and terrible characters for me to find this an enjoyable read.
I love a good female serial killer book, and I will always be rooting for them but why are they more often than not, so truly terrible?

This was a fun read. Very Dexter-like in the killer with a code sort of way. The relationships in this book were fun and, while she's actually a killer, the protagonist is actually quite likeable. It's a quirky and fast-paced - definitely worth a read!
Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ARC.

Destined to be one of the best audio books of the year. "This Girl's a Killer", by Emma C. Wells is even better than the book (and that's saying something). I was riveted to this story from the word go. The voice acting is top-notch, really bringing this story "to life".

I don’t know if this will be a popular opinion but I didn’t love this. I felt the reverse, Dexter-feminist plotline was messy. The main character was just unhinged to me, there was nothing convincing about her motives. It was generic.
