I have to say, I really enjoyed this book. That being said, if you have any triggers, you should most likely look up this book before purchasing it. While there is disturbing content, I felt that it was necessary for the story and wasn’t over the top with description. If those scenes had been “glossed over”, those parts of the story that were a direct correlation to those scenes would not have been as impactful, which would have affected the overall feeling of the book.
The plot of this book was somewhat confusing at the beginning, but once I got into the book, I was hooked and couldn’t put it down as everything started to come together. The story definitely kept me asking questions until the very end. I am looking forward to more from this author in the future!
Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books for giving me the chance to read an ARC of this book. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
What a BANGER of a book. This was fantastic, paced perfectly and full of twists I didn't see coming. I need more of this Author AASP
Overall I really enjoyed this book. The author did an excellent job of weaving two different timelines together without it being jarring or obvious. I really liked the story within the story aspect of the book. Personally I did feel there were a few characters that were added unnecessarily and wish a few others were given more of a storyline and expanded upon. I would recommend this book if you like a true who dunit or mystery that keeps the final reveal a surprise.
A lovely read as always by Anya Mora. How far would a mother go to protect her children?
When Ruby's daughter goes missing Ruby wonders if her past is coming back to haunt her, we follow the story of finding out who has Maple while discovering what Ruby has been through.
A great read
4 stars
Wow! I loved this! I couldn’t put it down and read during every free second I could spare. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC!
I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. This book centers around Ruby and her children Dodge and Maple. When Maple goes missing, so many secrets in Ruby's life finally come out. I really didn't feel like the book picked up until the end and I felt like there were some inconsistencies and that the police and family would have been working nonstop trying to find Maple. There was a nice twist at the end.
Yet another fantastic book from Anya Mora!
Extremely gripping from the very beginning with a fantastic twist at the end!

Clear your schedules and get ready to get sucked into an intriguing, page turning psychological thriller by an extremely talented author!!!
It is set over multiple time lines. When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions. It also shows the bigger picture.
The characters were very realistic, multi layered and well rounded and again their personalities reflected the storyline and how they would act, etc perfectly. The descriptions gave a really good in depth view of how the characters were feeling and what they were thinking. The characters were complex and each seemed to be hiding their own secrets which leaves you questioning who is telling the truth and who can be trusted. they had their own unique personalities with individual flaws, quirks, secrets, strengths and weaknesses!! My heart completely went out to Ruby as it is my worse nightmare as a Mother to have any of my children go missing and I couldn't even bare to think about it!! I don't want to say too much about the characters though and I will leave you to read this amazing book and work it out yourself. Each of the characters were well developed, unique and thanks to Anya's fantastic evocative writing skills they all came to life before my eyes. That is all I will say as I don't want to run the risk of dropping any hints or spoilers. However, whether you love or hate these characters, they all have their own strong unique personalities and they all bring the story to life playing their roles perfectly.
An absolutely HUGE SUCCESS by this extremely talented author. This is EXACTLY why I would like to welcome you to my favourite authors club Anya and here is to your next guaranteed success 🥂!!
Overall a page turning addictive psychological thriller that will have your heart racing and will blow your mind with the explosive twists.

A quick and satisfying psychological thriller with an engaging protagonist and an interesting plot line. This would be a great beach read!
I am a massive fan of this author so when I seen this I couldn’t wait to read it and I was definitely not disappointed. It was definitely an emotional psychological thriller which kept me hooked from start to finish. I loved the writing style and how the tense atmosphere just kept building up u til the very end. So another great book by a very talented author. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review this. I can’t wait to recommend it.
We're just going to go with...I didn't care for it. The writing style and the characters were a bit odd to me. It was very much a tell rather than a show, and the voices for the various characters were just not authentic to how one would expect people to act and speak. If I heard "well, where do you think she is" or "I guess I didn't know her as well as I thought I did" one more time, I was gonna blow a gasket. That's kind of the whole point of the book - she's gone and no one knows where she is and she had secrets.
This is a dark thriller which cleverly spans timelines, characters and perspectives. I really liked the use of the character as author as a way to tell parts of the story. Some parts of this book are really dark and I think the author handles the topics well, while still allowing the reader to get smacked in the face by some of the twists.
As always Anya's books have me gripped right away, I was hooked and didn't want to put it down until I had worked out the truth about Maple's disappearance.
Please check the trigger warning as this book can be distressing.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Mother Daughter by Anya Mora is an emotional psychological thriller that will keep you on the edge nearly all the way!
This is a disturbing thriller with many heartbreaking parts. Told in past and present from different points of view.
It was so easy to connect with this story, was so easy to feel for characters and that final twist, sweet peppermint tea! That final twist just came out of nowhere and left me with an open mouth!
Ruby facing the worst nightmare - her daughter goes missing! Once Ruby survived the nightmare that no one should face and turned that into a bestselling book. Now she is worried that history will repeat itself.
I read half of the book and needed to take a couple of hours break to get back to the story as it was emotionally heavy but I was so desperate to find out who was behind the nightmare!
Thank you, NetGalley and Joffe Books for this copy!
I enjoyed this as a thriller novel, it had that concept that I was looking for and enjoyed in the genre. The overall story worked with the feel that I wanted and it was tense and atmospheric. Anya Mora wrote this perfectly and was glad I got to read this.
I DNF'd this book at 56% I had a really hard time with the conversations between characters. This girl is missing and everyone's talking about dumb stuff.
I didn't like the dialog at all.
A really great mystery that I couldn't put down. A tale of past and present colliding, I loved and highly recommend all books by this author. Curl up by the fire and read this cosy mystery with superb, fiesty characters xx
I think that the story itself was good, I enjoyed the big twist towards the end. I didn't guess the ending which is great. However, some details in the writing I just found a little off putting. There were multiple spelling errors, inconsistencies with names (initially referred to as Piper, then suddenly changed to Piper Anne, then wavered back and forth. Name spelling changed from Brittany to Brittney). A comment was made about having duct tape over her mouth and then the next sentence says "I breathe through my mouth). Otherwise, great plot!
Ruby uses her life experiences in her writings and is a sucessful author. Raising two children she finds keeping her secrets difficult.
Her daughter goes missing and Ruby wonders if her past has simething to do with it
This is a pacy read and filled with drama and twists. i was hooked from the very start and loved getting to know Ruby.
I really love Anya Mora, and this one doesn't disappoint! She has a similar twisty suspense style to Freida McFadden, but has her own spin! I did feel like this one dove in headfirst a little too quickly with so much being introduced at once - I found myself needing to tap back and forth to make sure I was following the right details and characters, but once I had that under my belt it was a smooth page turner from there! Lots of twists and speedy pacing make this a fun read that would be great for a book club discussion. Thanks for the ARC!
