I love how this picture book about the author of The Little Prince ties in imagery from his book. This is a great tandem read to understand this classic author and his writing on a higher level. I loved the colors of the illustrations and the funny quirks that are sure to have the children laughing as they read. I can see this book being used by elementary teachers who want to show their students how an author's life can tie into their fiction.
My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Received for review: I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Why did I decide to turn the pages? I love Sanchez Vegara's books, and so I always jump on the opportunity to read them when I can.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I love Sanchez Vegara's books. The illustration style is fun and simple and does a good job of representing the story being told. Sanchez Vegara also does a good job of distilling people's lives into an easily digestible tale. I didn't know much about this author, so it was enjoyable to learn more about him. I love how Maria includes a fuller biography in the back for people who want to learn even more. And, I also love how Maria covers people from such diverse backgrounds in her books (time period, age, gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.)

This author also illustrated his small book The Little Prince which is a favorite of dreamers of all ages.
The illustrations by Martin Le Lapin are simple, colorful, and expressive.
Well suited for reading WITH someone of any age including ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school or your local public library!
I requested and received a temporary uncorrected proof on Adobe Digital Editions from Quarto Publishing Group/Frances Lincoln Children's Books via NetGalley. Thank you!

Little People, BIG DREAMS is a series that I have just discovered and I am glad, because the catalogue has so many personalities for me to re-discover and discover. Each book is the perfect pocket sized read for parents to read along with the kids or for kids to read it themselves. I love the illustrations by Martin Le Lapin — whimsical and alluring they perfectly compliment the gregarious story telling of Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara.
As someone who has editorial experience in writing for YA and teens, children's non-fiction is genre that I am very invested in and this series just re-instates my belief in pursuing a career in book publishing for children's fiction.
Looking forward to next release of an icon in history for children to learn about.
I did not know the story of the author of the Little Prince and was pleasantly surprised that this book was about him. This is not my favorite of the Little People Big Dreams collection. The story seemed disjointed.
Yet another great book from a fantastic series.
I havnt yet found one of these books that didn't teach me new facts about someone - even celebrities that I thought I knew a lot of stuff about.
This time, if I am honest, I wasn't sure who Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was so from start to finish it was all new information I was learning
It was told in a fun way, which didn't make it feel boring in any way and would keep the attention of the younger audience who may struggle to keep their attention on the book.
Cute illustrations too that are eyecatching
Great book.
I always love reading and reviewing books from the "Little People, Big Dreams" series, and this book about Antoine de Saint-Exupéry didn't fall short. The author made sure to include just enough information to both fully educate and maintain the interest of the reader; there was a perfect balance. Another thing that worked really well for this book was the illustrations. They matched and complemented the writing very nicely. The illustrator definitely captured Exupéry's whimsical and romantic view in the first few pages, and started the book off with a joyful note than rang out through the rest of the book. I have absolutely no bad things to say about this book.
Bravo!
I love the Little People, Big Dreams series and thought that this book made an excellent addition. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry led a fascinating life and I thought that the way the author told the story made it very engaging to read but also accessible to a younger audience. As always with this series, I liked that the author focused on the personality traits that led to the success of Le Petit Prince (creativity, determination and curiosity) rather than solely focusing on how many copies of the book were sold etc. The illustrations were adorable and really helped to tell the story. I liked that at the end there is a biography written for a more grown up audience as well as book recommendations.
Overall I thought this was a great addition to the series and it has inspired me to read Le Petit Prince which somehow I have never got round to read despite it being a lot of peoples' comfort book!
WoW! Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara books must be one of the best little books to purchase for children, these are the best-selling series of books and educational games that explore the lives of outstanding people, from designers and artists to scientists and activists. All of them achieved incredible things, yet each began life as a child with a dream.
So, this latest book is about Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Little Antoine grew up in Lyon, France. Ever since his first flight as a young boy, he dreamed of becoming a pilot. When he joined the French army during WWI, he finally got his chance. He spent a short time in the Air Force before leaving to become a mail pilot, all the while writing about his adventures.
However, in 1935, he crashed in the desert during a flight from Paris to Saigon. With little food and water to hand, he became very ill. Fortunately, after four days, he was found by a passerby and nursed back to health. This experience influenced much of Antoine's future writing.
I am so glad these books are being published and I highly recommend all of these books
Many thanks to Quarto’s Frances Lincoln Children’s Books and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Adults who love The Little Prince and kids who may just be learning about de Saint Exbury will both enjoy this entry in the good series. Watch young Antoine grow up and find his way to becoming a pilot (he faces a few challenges). Read about all that he accomplished before his life ended to soon.
My favorite part of the story is when the author says that, when flying a mail plane, Antoine circled the airport for an hour so that he could finish his book. What a book lover!
After sharing this book with a child, buy a copy of Le Petit Prince for them. They may treasure it for many years.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Quarto Publishing Group for this title. All opinions are my own.

Firstly, a huge thank you to the author, Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara, the illustrator, Martin Le Lapin, the publisher, Frances Lincoln Children's Books, and NetGalley for the privilege of being able to read this very cute children's biographical book about Antoine de Saint-Exupery. I will share my review to Amazon, Goodreads, and Barnes & Noble upon release.
This installment in the Little People, Big Dreams series focuses on Antoine de Saint-Exupery, the French poet, author, journalist, and pilot. The story starts with the French pilot as a young boy, when children will first connect with the sense of wonder and love of life that he exhibited throughout his life. The illustrations are very fun and whimsical and fit really well with the subject. The airplanes are very fun and I loved seeing the subject in all kinds of different scenarios through his travels around the world. His story is perhaps lesser known in terms of biographies for children, so I loved seeing his story included in this series. The cover is very cute, as all the books in this series are, and I loved the little details that give hints at what's inside. The color pallettes for the illustrations are erally nice and remind me of The Little Prince itself - which is a lovely touch and homage to de Saint-Exupery. The end of the book has a timeline and pictures of the real life Antoine de Saint-Exupery that provide more context into his life. I would recommend this title for any classroom, library, or home library, especially for children who enjoy true stories and planes, pilots, writers, etc. Thanks again!
Darling illustrations accompanied by simple text relates the story of a boy who dared to dream big, Antoine de Saint-Exupery. The story tells the background of his book, “The Little Prince,” and how it echoes themes from his own life. A great read for children of all ages!

Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this title before it is available for publication.
My 6 yr old daughter absolutely loves these "Little People, Big Dreams" books so we jumped at the chance to preview one before it actually comes out. And this one did not disappoint. From the way the story is told to the beautiful illustrations, this book was wonderful.
Truthfully, neither one of us had heard of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry before reading this book. But that is the point of these books! As with the others in the series, this book explained his early childhood and how he became famous for, well, what he became famous for! He was a pilot and author, but lost his life in WWII. My daughter absolutely loves the photographs and biography at the end.
I always highly recommend these books to anyone that is looking for a non-fiction book that reads like fiction.
My kids (9 and 11) read this together. I did not recognize the name and was unsure of what Antoine de Saint-Exupery was known for. I asked the kids about the cover; they were confused about the planet/stars because they perceived that this book was about a pilot. I missed that he held a copy of The Little Prince in his hands and still didn't make the connection as we started to read. Suggestion: The image of The Little Prince be larger to catch the eyes of parents/kids familiar with the story and maybe not the author by name) to draw in more interest/connection.
Once finishing the story, we appreciated how the inside front and back covers complimented each other.
As a parent, I like how these books provide "teasers" into bigger conversations and introductions to words that provide teaching moments at the discretion of the adult that they would look to for questions (e.g. Nazi Germany, past times). With these books, I also learn several new things (Bedouin, other works by this author).
The illustrations on the earlier pages (2-3) that speak to Antoine sharing his poems at dawn and building a flying bike give the feel that this is taking place at night (the jammies, yawning, a lightbulb). I would suggest images that are associated with morning; a window showing the sunrise and birds, mom with a mug of tea, kids with toast (if era/culturally appropriate).
Page 10/mention of metal of honor: The first sentence doesn't paint a clear picture for me. Suggestion: ...were very simple and didn't always make it to their final destination.
Transition of pages 23-24 was a little unclear. Suggestion: Page 23 ends with an additional sentence that explains that he did not return.
The final page that shows an image dated 2023 is a little confusing too. My son is always interested in knowing if the person is still alive or not. He looked at that and thought Antoine died in 2023. Suggestion: add a comment about The Little Prince still being a well-loved book to this day to bring more of a connection to the image.
We really enjoyed this story and are eager to read more of both Antione de Saint-Exupery's and Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara's work.
Another beautiful book from Little People, Big Dreams series! This one is simply dreamy (the illustrations are gorgeous and styled to match de Saint-Exupery's illutrations in "The Little Prince").
I am not ashamed to admit I knew very little about the French author and once again I learnt, in a matter of minutes, so many facts about his life. These books are pretty, educational and easy to read and will be the perfect addition for a young child's library.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery was not a figure I knew anything about prior to reading this Little People Big Dreams book, but it provided a brief informative delve into his life. Hospice reads like a story, so it was beautiful generalise he had indeed written stories.
Dream-like illustrations at times, that were perfectly pitched to the narrative. A lovely addition to the series.
I love everything about the Little People, Big Dreams books! They are the perfect addition for any youngster.
This was a simple and sweet children's picture book about the author of The Little Prince. As a fan of both The Little Prince and Wind, Sand, and Stars, this had a chance of either being perfect for me or a great disappointment.
This did not disappoint! The artwork was lovely - somewhat reminiscent of the artwork from The Little Prince but in a style of its own. And I loved the details, like the child Antoine de Saint Exupery constantly wearing an aviator's cap. The story follows his full life and the final page gave me literal chills with how touching it was. Excellent for any fan of Antoine de Saint Exupery who wants to pass that love onto any child.
I really wasn’t familiar with Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, although of course I had read ‘A Little Prince’, so this book was a good chance to learn about the interesting life of the author. As always with this series, the illustrations were beautiful and expressive, and I think this would make a perfect gift for my god-daughter, especially alongside a beautiful copy of Antoine’s classic beloved tale!
de Saint-Exupéry is more well-known in some places; usually if The Little Prince is popular somewhere, d S-E is appreciated there.
I picked this up because I like The Little Prince and grew up with much appreciation for the author, and I wanted to share this experience with my child.
An equally cute and inspiring book about the author who created The Little Prince.
