Man, this was another fantastic read! I've really enjoyed this series, and I had to reread the first two since it was so long since I read them, but now I was able to read this one, and it was such a great read! Loved being back in Paris, and seeing some of this crew again!

Josh has some issues, and we knew that from Anna and the French Kiss. But now that most of them have graduated, and he's still there, well, things have gotten worse. And when he and Isla start their relationship, well, that causes problems.

Not to say that there weren't other problems. Isla has had feelings for Josh for a while, and only because of her surgery did she approach him. She's a insecure about him, and I just wanted to get them both a big hug and let them know that it'd be alright.

That ending was really perfect, I loved how it wrapped everything up with Isla and Josh, and that we got to bring all 3 couples together. It was just the perfect ending to this trilogy, and I really adored it, though I'm sad to say goodbye to these characters!

This was a really great read, and a great end to the series, and I can't wait to read more by Stephanie Perkins!

This series has been a favorite for a while now and it was such a delight to be able to read this one as well! Stephanie Perkins really knows how to make you fall in love with her characters.

My Amazon account was hacked and had to be closed. After creating a new account, I lost the arcs on the original account which includes this title.

Late review but I loved the book. This is a beautifully written Young Adult book. The collection from the author is a must read.

I felt like I waited forever for this book after having finished Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door. It was well worth the wait.

Josh and Isla had a wonderful love story. It was scattered with such fun things but also had some sad elements (jealousy and self-doubt).

I loved watching the sparks ignite between the two of them and being brought back and forth between Paris and NYC. The relationship was fun and loving. There were definitely speed bumps in the road, but the soft parts were so sweet and made me melt.

I loved Kurt's character and how Isla always stuck up for her best friend. He did so many off-beat things but was so loveable.

Hattie, Isla's younger sister did stir up some trouble, but time can heal things and I love how she and Isla resolved things.

I was happy to see St. Claire and Anna make and appearance and the quirky Cricket and Lola.

I am so sad to see this series end.

3.5 stars!! I will start this by saying I really liked this book! Stephanie Perkins and I are in a reader author love relationship...happily so! I think her stories are ADORABLE! Her stories capture those fun butterflies that flutter when love comes calling. That being said there was just a vague and not describable feeling that I was waiting for but never found. Sorry I can't figure out how to be more descriptive. While my heart still belongs to Cricket Bell I say you should still give this one a read if you want some frothy lovin'! (I don't know what frothy lovin' looks like but if you find it come and show me...it sounds awesome.)

“There’s no story,’ I say. ‘I saw you one day, and I just knew.”

Isla is a hopeless romantic, heading to another year at SOAP. Josh hates school, and is heading to another year of detentions and metaphorical torture. Isla has been in love with Josh for as long as she can remember. Ever since the first time she saw him.

I enjoyed Isla’s character the most of all three of these books because I feel like out of the three (Anna, Lol, and Isla) she is the most relatable, at least for me. She is awkward, imperfect and human which is one of the things I like most about Stephanie Perkins’ books. I need more of Kurt though. He is easily the most intriguing character, and most well written out of the three main characters. But, it isn’t Kurt’s book.

One of the things that I found most refreshing about this book is that it doesn’t spend ages and ages on the process of falling in love, which I feel is becoming the most generic feature of YA books today. ‘Isla’ concentrates more on the bit afterwards, and shows that, where some books leave the impression that everythin will be perfect once you’ve met the right human (or alien, whatever floats your boat), ‘Isla’ shows us that this is almost NEVER the case. Another reason why it’s so relatable, because it’s just so true.

The book is also very witty, and I find that comedic relief can really do wonders for a book like this, because sometimes they threaten to get a little depressing. The appearance of the characters from the other books is also a welcome feature and something we have come to expect from Perkins’ books after ‘Lola’ . So much so that the book would feel incomplete without them.

If you are looking for a really well written YA Romance that can make you feel a mix of emotions, but mostly leave with THE most enormous book hangover ever, then look no further. go and buy it now. Link at the top of the post! Happy Reading, because I know it will be.

NetGalley apparently provided me a copy of this book years ago and I've forgotten all about it and purchased the book. Nevertheless-a review.
I read both "Anna and the French Kiss" and "Lola and the Boy Next Door" and waited for the conclusion in "Isla and the Happily Ever After". Much like how "Lola" incorporated the previous books main characters, but focused on a new set, "Isla" focuses on Isla and Josh and their story while keeping Anna and St. Clair and Lola and Cricket as touch points. I enjoyed the book-both the settings of New York and Paris (and parts of Spain), and the plot line. These books don't just focus on the characters and their relationships with each other, but also with their family and friends and how their actions impact everyone around them. In other words-they seem real. Hearts get hurt, people screw up, but sometimes things work out in the end.
Read it. It's great.

Read the whole book when it was published and I liked this one much better than Anna and Lola. Characters were more developed and i liked the romance and the storyline more. It was nice to see the author's work progress since Anna.

This is a tough book to read, <i>tough</i>. But honestly, that's what makes it awesome.
It takes you through your first love. All the butterflies and silly looks, the stolen touches and first kisses.

but oh man, it also takes you through the jealousy and insecurity, the realization they had relationships and lives before you and have friends vying for their time. The all consuming "OHMYGODPLEASECALL" and the checking your phone every 5 seconds, missing school because of arguments and crying kind of ugliness.

and it's ugly. But you know, it was worth it.

<i>"I-I would have waited all night."</i>

Because every one, every <i>person</i>, should have someone who loves them enough to wait all night for them

And to visit with Cricket, Lola, St. Clair, Meredith and Anna again is like a true blessing. I didn't remember Josh until that moment. It is simply amazing to see where there are too.
This was so good and such a great treat. Thank you [author:Stephanie Perkins|3095893]. You gave your readers, your fans, the best ending ever.

Isla and the Happily Ever After is the final book in the Anna and the French Kiss "series" (I use the word series loosely, as the books revolve around characters that we meet in the first book). It's funny, witty, and makes you feel like falling in love. While this is a preview, I definitely recommend reading the entire book--and the other two ones that came before it!

Review of full book:

This has been by far one of my most highly anticipated novels for the last several months. Ever since finishing Anna and the French Kiss I was ready to jump right back into another Stephanie Perkins masterpiece, and I’m so happy to say that Lola and the Boy Next Door does not disappoint. At all. I LOVE THIS BOOK.

Everything about it is wonderful: the fun and quirky cast of characters (including the reappearance of two of our favorites from Anna and the French Kiss *happy squeal*), the setting of San Francisco (which I was lucky enough to visit for the first time earlier this summer), and a heartwrenching and smile-inducing story of old misunderstandings, teenage longing, and childhood friends finally falling in love (which caused a lot of excited squeaking and happy sighing on my part).

Just like in Anna, the supporting characters are all fantastic and made me wish the book was ten times longer so we could get to know each of them better. Lola’s two dads are such wonderful fictional parents; supportive and loving, yet firm and protective too. Even Calliope, though pretty unlikeable at first, ended up being quite an intriguing character, and I’m really looking forward to the possibility of seeing her (and others!) in the next book, Isla and the Happily Ever After.

Lola herself is fantastic, of course, and her fashion sense is SO FUN. She’s like a young, slightly toned-down Lady Gaga. And even though I could never BE her (the time and effort it must take her to get dressed every day! I’m exhausted already!), I absolutely loved reading about it. We could totally be friends.

Although if we WERE friends, we would definitely get in a fight over Cricket, that’s for sure. Oh my gosh, you guys, THIS BOY. Cricket is quirky and sweet and geeky and awkward and adorable and I JUST LOVE HIM SO MUCH. Watching him long for Lola made my heart hurt (Psst, take me instead, Cricket!). One of the things I loved about Anna was how REAL it was, how realistically Etienne acted and how beautifully their friendship unfolded. Somehow, Stephanie has managed to kick it up a notch in the “real” department with Lola. Cricket is so real. And kind of perfect. He’s the kind of guy I would love to date. He’s the kind of guy I would love my daughter to date (I don’t have a daughter yet, FYI). Plus, he’s TALL. Like, really tall. (Sorry Etienne.)

It’s not that I don’t love my paranormals, but sometimes you just want to read a story that could actually HAPPEN. A story where you can shamelessly insert yourself into Cricket’s arms and know that it could be real life. Something sweet, painful, romantic, awkward, heartbreaking, and totally swoonworthy. The joy in reading this book isn’t in the mysterious love interest, the main character discovering she is a (insert supernatural creature here), or the shocking twist at the end, it’s in the sweet little moments that make you smile and sigh with happiness. It’s in bridges built between windows and conversations with the moon. And it has completely stolen my heart.

Reading Lola and the Boy Next Door was seriously the most fun I’ve had in ages. I literally had to put it down several times while reading so I could get up and do a crazy dance around the room because I was so giddy. I’m pretty sure there were happy squeaking noises coming from my room the whole time.

In addition to the adorableness of Cricket, a considerable amount of these fangirl reactions was thanks to Anna and St. Clair, who are in the book as actual characters, not just cameo appearances (yay!). There were several tiny little references to things from Anna and the French Kiss, which made me sooooo happy, and after casting several adoring glances at my copy of Anna on the shelf, it eventually just moved to the bed with me. Let me tell you, Lola, Anna and I had an AWESOME party.

I absolutely cannot wait for Isla and the Happily Ever After, although having to leave all these fantastic characters for the final time is going to be heartbreaking. If I could live in a fictional series it would totally be this one (except that all the awesome guys are already taken! :P Stephanie, write my life, please? Kay, thanks.).

So what are you waiting for? You don’t want another minute to go by without reading this book.

Full review of book:
There’s nothing that beats picking up a cute read which leaves you with all the warm fuzzies and gets you out of your holiday blues. Honestly I was feeling like crap about being back home and so not having read a single book in a month! I needed something that would keep me distracted, absorbed and get me back into reading once again. And Isla and the Happily ever after was just the sort of read. Before you knew it I was over 40% in and not wanting to go to sleep (this hasn’t happened to me in a long time.) I have I have to admit I was a little wary at first with the mixed ratings I had seen before, but Perkins adorable characters and whimsical writing helped me get lost into a world where I could forget everything else around me.

Perkins has always had this fantastic knack for giving us beautifully written romances, yes Josh and Isla did seem to fall quite quickly for one another, bur their relationship was made to feel believable and realistic. I could connect with the strong feelings they had for one another and the gut wrenching emotions they had to go through when separated. When I’m able to feel more emotion from a relationship, the relationship always seems to work for me. Also I appreciated the MC that Perkins gave to us in Isla. She wasn’t your typically confident MC, but had her self- doubts which could hold her back at times. I know some readers may have been frustrated with the blips that these made along the way, but being a person who has constantly being checked herself to make sure what I’m doing is right or even doubting my abilities, I liked how Perkins illustrated not everyone can have that confidence down.

Josh and Isla’s relationship had it’s up and down moments, but because their feelings for each other were so genuine and strong I knew that they could get through it. Even though I’ve always said that nothing could top Anna and St Clair’s relationship, I think Josh and Isla may have just done that. I loved how fierce and raw their feelings were for each other, how when they were together nothing else mattered, but each other. But most of all I liked it when the characters in the relationship are willing to take risks and be open about their feelings for one another. Isla could be a bit resistant at first, but with the hurt and separation that both Josh and Isla had to go through, this really broke me too.

Overall the wait for Isla and the Happily Ever After was a long time coming, but totally worth it in the end. Once again Perkins was able to sweep me off my feet with her beautiful writing and swoon worthy characters and relationships she introduced. I’m quite sad about having to let these characters go, but I’m grateful that they’ve managed to leave such a huge impression with me.

I have loved the books in this series, I'm surprised to say Isla is definitely my favourite! The relationship between her and Josh was so fun to read! I loved that the book took place in Paris again and I really enjoy the boarding school setting. The secondary characters in this novel were a favourite, they could easily get books of their own! Having the group from Anna and the French Kiss all return to be part of it a little was also really well done and fun for those of us that have been following along. I'm excited to see what Stephanie does next!
