I enjoyed this. It was an easy read, I finished it on a plane ride! I enjoyed almost all of the characters and felt like they were developed well throughout the course of the book. I actually felt anxious about potential consequences that the FMC could face as a result of some of her actions (don’t want to spoil anything)

I love an enemies to lovers when I can feel the animosity between the two and they slowly realize their feelings for each other. That happened in this book! I’m not always a fan of reverse age gap but I think that it worked well here. It was not over emphasized but played well for the story. Overall this was a nice, spicy read for me!

Fun and enjoyable read!

I enjoyed getting to know the members of the band and how Lexi doesn’t just win them over but helps them individually throughout the book. The relationship between Lexi and Aiden has good chemistry. And while the third act miscommunication was predictable and somewhat painful to get through, I think the end was worth it.

Thank you to NetGalley, Emma Rae, and Hera Books for providing me with an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first book by Emma Rae but it won’t be my last. I love a good enemies to lovers trope and this one did not disappoint. Lexi and Aiden’s story was a roller coaster but the juice was definitely worth the squeeze. I found it a little slow at the beginning but the second half really picked up. It was a really fun, quick read.

Lexi is an Oscar winning documentary director tasked with filming the tour of a world famous boy band of which Aiden is the unofficial frontman. The characters really make you feel for them as they go through their many ups and downs. And let’s not forget the spice! This book would well be able to make any seasoned romance reader blush. Aiden is definitely book boyfriend material.

I will definitely be recommending this book to fellow spicy romance readers who enjoy a good forced proximity, enemies to lovers, rockstar romance. Thank you to NetGalley and Canelo for giving me a chance to read this ARC.

I really liked the writing in this story, but I think it tried to be too much, there was nothing that wasn't resolved happily. The characters had really interesting stories but it all became incredibly predictable. quite early on. I would read more from this author but this title is not for me. Unfortunately I think events in real life will affect the popularity of this title.

This is a fun read, it's easy to get caught up in the glamour and drama of the pop star life! I enjoyed the premise of this book and the resulting plot was dynamic and interesting. I thought the worldwide setting worked really well, the variety of experiences and characters kept me engaged and wanting to know what would happen next.

The part of this book that didn't work for me was the romance - It didn't feel believeable and there was no chemistry. It didn't ruin the book for me as I enjoyed the rest of it enough, but I felt a bit disappointed as the relationship progressed.

Overall, it was still a great read and I would read more books by this author!

I rarely do not finish a book. This is one of the few. It felt all over the place. Too many characters introduced at once without knowing who was who and their roles. The book lost me there.

2.5⭐️

The book though seemed predictable really blew my mind. I thought the misunderstanding trope will be given more importance but I was so happy to see that the characters got their happy ending. The best part of the book for me was that all members of the book were given equal importance in terms of story line and that the focus was not only on the main protagonist.

It's an adorable feel good rom-com.

Dnf at 23%. Didn't enjoy this story at all. It was very boring and didn't happened much at all.... Couldn't relate to the characters either.

This one was such a delightful whirlwind! Imagine being an Oscar-winning documentary director and getting stuck filming a boy band reunion tour. Yeah, Lexi’s not thrilled either. Enter Aidan, the cocky, charming lead of Rebel Heart, who rubs Lexi the wrong way in all the right ways. She thinks he’s a diva, he thinks she’s uptight—classic enemies-to-lovers vibes!

Their banter is as sharp as their chemistry, and despite her best efforts, Lexi starts questioning everything she thought she knew about love, life, and boy bands. Funny, swoony, and full of heart—this one’s a backstage pass to romance!

Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for allowing me the opportunity to receive an ARC.

Enemies to lovers is my favourite trope, so was very pleased to read this title.
The plot involves a serious documentary maker (Lexi) following a boy band around whilst they are on a concert tour to create a documentary on their lives and popularity. Lexi meets one of the boy band members (Aidan) who does not want to be involved in a documentary, and Aidan makes life difficult for Lexi.
Really enjoyed this book, and the author really brought to life the behind the scenes life of the tour and the various geographical locations.
However I felt that Aidan was very antagonistic and cold towards Lexi, to the point where he nearly professionally sabotaged her career.
I didn’t understand why Lexi kept being pulled to him when she was treated badly by him, and if it was me I’d have walked away from.
At times the relationship felt very one sided with Lexi putting in all the effort

This book was so good!! Emma, you did a wonderful job putting two really fun, full of personality characters together, and created such a fun journey of love together. Such a great story! Absolutely loved it!

3.5 stars

Oscar winning doco filmmaker Lexi is forced by her financial backer to follow boy band Rebel Hearts on tour. What she doesn’t realise is that the more difficult member Aidan might be the one who forces her to open her heart.

I really enjoyed this, it was just the sort of celebrity romance escapism I was craving. I loved that Lexi was the older one, but she was less mature than Aidan. Aidan was a porcupine but kept trying to break down Lexi’s walls. I loved their chemistry and banter. The only thing I didn’t like about the book was her history with Duncan and her constant attempts to foist Meredith onto Duncan. It felt like she was doing so to assuage her guilt. I’d much prefer if they just were long-time business partners or something.

A fun escapist romance with sizzle that had be hooked from the start.

Thanks to Hera Books and NetGalley for the ARC.

4.5 stars rounded up!

Honestly, I selected this book on a whim, and I'm so glad I did! I read it in two sittings; I just couldn't wait to find out how Lexi and Aidan's story turned out.

Lexi is an Oscar-winning director who focuses on documentaries about some of the darker aspects of humanity, such as human trafficking and sweatshops. When her new boss decides to have her follow a boy band on tour and direct a documentary about their reunion, she's less than impressed. She and her cameraman and long-time friend, Duncan, agree with the terms that if they complete this, they'll receive funding for their next project.

Lexi doesn't expect that she'll begin to actually like the boys, who are at least five years her junior. She becomes invested in all their lives, especially Aidan, who she can't get out of her mind. Their whirlwind romance is spicy and secret (doesn't get much sexier than that). There are several romantic subplots outside their story, which I really enjoyed!

In general, I don't love third act breakups, but I thought this one was extremely well-done and allowed Lexi and Aidan to both figure out some personal issues.

The reason I took off a half star is that some of the language was cringey. I hope I never have to read a 😺 described as "plump" ever again.

It took me a little to get into story, but once I found my groove, I couldn’t put my kindle down.

Lexi is a great FMC, she’s determined and feisty, she’s tasked with following Rebel Heart on their world tour to record a documentary on the band after the get back together.

Aidan has some hang ups, he struggles to trust and is extremely overprotective of his band mates, he struggles to open up to Lexi but when he lets her in, sparks fly!

The miscommunication and third act breakup was hard to get through as you’re rooting for them but the ending is worth the wait!

Enemies to lovers, reverse age-gap, forced proximity, celebrity romance? Sign me up!!!

This book gave me everything I didn’t know I needed. It follows Lexi, an Oscar-winning filmmaker who’s reluctantly tasked with filming Rebel Heart, a boy band on their reunion tour. The bandmates aren’t thrilled about her tagging along, especially their unofficial leader, Aidan, who makes sure to give Lexi a hard time. She thinks he’s an arrogant diva; he thinks she’s uptight and impossible to trust. Sparks fly in all the wrong ways, but will they stay enemies for long? You’ll have to dive into this one to see what happens! 🥰

I had the absolute BEST time with this book! It’s packed with all my favorite things: a perfectly executed enemies-to-lovers arc, a swoon-worthy reverse age gap, and a beautiful mix of open-door romance and emotional depth.

Aidan is the kind of emotionally mature MMC we need more of, and yes, he’s a total consent king—love to see it! The found family dynamic within the band and the seamless blend of love, drama, and friendship made this book feel like a warm hug. And for any fans of One Direction, BTS, or similar boy bands, this one’s got your name all over it.

This story is a delicious rollercoaster ride of tension, banter, and swoon-worthy romance that you won't want to put down. If you’re looking for a heartwarming, spicy read that hits all the right notes, this book is an absolute must! 🎤💕

I read this book in a couple of days, because I really didn't want to put it down. I really enjoyed reading about Aiden and his bandmates, as well as Lexie and Duncan. The chemistry between Aiden and Lexie jumped off the page and the author covered a lot of interesting points about their relationship. I would definitely recommend this book.

The narrative centers on Lexi, a celebrated filmmaker with an Oscar under her belt, who is assigned by her company to document the reunion tour of a boyband called Rebel Heart. The band members aren’t thrilled about her presence, particularly Aidan, the unofficial leader. Lexi finds him arrogant and abrasive, while he views her as uptight and untrustworthy. Sparks fly in classic enemies-to-lovers fashion. But will these tensions last the whole tour? You'll have to read on to find out!

I absolutely loved every moment of this book! It’s one of the most entertaining reads I’ve enjoyed recently. The story is packed with plot twists, a wonderful found-family dynamic, steamy scenes, a unique reverse age gap (she’s 30, he’s 25), and takes readers on a whirlwind tour of amazing locations. It’s the perfect blend of elements.

Fans of bands like One Direction or BTS will definitely appreciate the vibe. The book gave me serious “The Idea of You” vibes, and I couldn’t help but imagine Nicholas Galitzine as the main male character! It was refreshing to see an older female protagonist paired with a younger man who, despite his age, is emotionally mature and wonderfully respectful. Major points for consent!

"I Knew You Were Trouble" hits shelves on November 21, 2024—mark your calendars; it’s almost here!

Lexi is a famous doucmentary director and asked to film the reunion tour of boy band. She is disappointed and can't stand Aidan, the leader of the band. But they fall for each other as they work together...

Love Lexi and Aidan. Their banter is terrific. Love their chemistry. Love the joy and romance. Terrific boy band romance.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

Tropes: Enemies to lovers / Reverse age-gap / Forced proximity / Celebrity romance

The story follows Lexi, an Oscar winning filmmaker, who is forced by her company to follow and film the boyband, Rebel Heart, on their reunion tour. The band mates aren’t keen on having her around and make her presence very unwelcome, especially the unofficial band leader Aidan. She thinks he’s egotistical and rude and he thinks she’s highly strung and untrustworthy. Cue enemies to lovers 👏🏻. Will they still feel this way for the duration of the tour..? You’ll have to read to find out 🥰.

I had the BEST time reading this. Absolutely one of the most enjoyable books I’ve read in a while. Plenty of plot, great found family, open door spice 🌶️, a reverse age gap (he’s 25 and she’s 30) and a stunning array of locations around the world. Just the perfect mix of ingredients.

Any fans of One Direction, BTS or any other band will love the vibe of this. It reminded me so much of the book/film ‘The Idea of You’ and I kept picturing Nicholas Galitzine as the MMC! It was refreshing to have an older FMC and for the MMC to be emotionally mature despite his younger age. He is also a consent King, something we love to see 🙌🏻.

I Knew You Were Trouble is released on the 21st November 2024. Only a few weeks to go!
