This audiobook is gripping, intense, and emotional. There was one part in particular that had me sobbing. I have always appreciated a thriller that could evoke a vast range of emotions. There were twists throughout with an ending I never saw coming. This is the second book I have read by A. J. McDine and I highly recommend them both. Tasmin Kennard masterfully brings the story to life while adding a layer of intrigue and high intensity. Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for my audiobook.

Not quite the scandalous read I was expecting - more like a mother's trials and tribulations.

Eve has a 'perfect life', which changes when her best friend's daughter winds up in a coma after attending a birthday party for Eve's son, Joe.

I was expecting the classic trope of terrible rich people suddenly discovering their perfect lives aren't actually perfect, and while that is kind of the case, it was lacking drama and a little too predictable.

I didn't love or loathe any of the characters, really, which meant I wasn't fully committed to the story, and I thought some parts just seemed a bit too unbelievable - like it was trying to wring drama out of plot points that didn't really have any.

A lot of the story focuses on Eve's trials as a mother - how she has to stick up for her family, and look after her son in the process.

I do think mothers may find this resonates and so will enjoy it more thoroughly for that.

The narration was pretty decent, and distinguished each voice well. They played the part of Eve really well.

Wasn't quite enough for me to really lose myself to it, but I can see how this would be a thrilling read for others.

With thanks to NetGalley for an audio ARC

Very solid read! Overall made me want more! This was my first of this author but will not be my last. I flew through this one so quickly.

I want to keep this review fairly vague because this is one of those thrillers you’ll want to experience with as few spoilers as possible.

AJ McDine delivers another brilliantly twisted family drama that grabs hold and doesn’t let go until the very last page.

The story centers around a 16-year-old’s birthday party, where one disastrous moment changes the lives of everyone there. For Eve, this event is the beginning of the end for her seemingly perfect life. She has it all—a loving husband, a bright son, her dream home, and a fulfilling job. But as she searches for the truth of what happened that night, layers of secrets and lies emerge, threatening to destroy everything she’s worked so hard for.

Being a parent in this day and age, I found the events of the party has solidified my assertion to always be viewed as the "overly worried" mom my daughter's claim I am!

This was a dynamic 4 stars!

This book was such an addictive read! From the very beginning, I was drawn into the lives of the Griffiths and the charming, close-knit community of South Langley. The village setting felt so cozy and familiar, which made the darker, unexpected twists even more chilling. When Annie is found in Eve’s kitchen, clinging to life, the suspense kicked in, and I couldn’t stop flipping pages.

The characters are so real—flawed, sometimes frustrating, but somehow still relatable. I found myself really invested in Eve, her fierce determination to uncover the truth, and the growing sense of betrayal as secrets between her, her best friend, husband, and son start to unravel. No one in this story is blameless, and that just kept me guessing.

The twists were perfectly timed, and I loved the tension as new revelations threw everything into question. Listening to this as an audiobook made it even better! Tasmin Kennard’s narration added so much depth; she captured the raw emotions and kept me on edge through every chapter.

If you love a mystery that keeps you hooked until the last page, with characters you’ll connect with despite their flaws, this one’s a must-read. Perfect for curling up with on a chilly night—it’s packed with suspense and that cozy-but-creepy vibe!

I am trying to feel so many thoughts that I want to explain after finishing this book, but the one that jumps out at me the most is heartbreak and devastation. I have been sitting on my feelings with this book and it has been one of the most thought-provoking books I have read in a while. All the characters and their motivations and how that all intertwined back into the story were so interesting to see. I could see parts of my self in many of these characters, alongside their pain and secrecy.

This is a must read for those who love page turning thrillers.

I honestly did not know who to trust and what was going to happen next! And that is difficult to find these days. Books often feel one-note and shallow, but this book delivered on plot, character development, and a good mystery.

Definitely add this to you TBR list! You won't be disappointed!

Audio Book review - Tamsin Kennard is a fabulous narrator that keeps the pages flowing and brings the story to life. Everyone has secrets allows her the use her full extent of narration skills and gels the story line perfectly. Having listened to a few stories the Tamsin has described, you know that it will be entertaining.
The book itself was as expected, a well defined plot with twists and turns at every juncture. The characters intermingle well and create a pseudo atmosphere of calm - great ending!!!

Everyone has secrets indeed and some secrets can destroy families. The book was amazingly easy paced and didn't get tiring at all. It didn't give unnecessary informations and kept only to the facts. I received it as an audiobook so the narrator did a great work as well.

I only feel like the ending could be somewhat different and maybe someone actually pay for that girls death.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Wow! To say that there are a lot of twists in this story is an understatement. Just when you think that everything is out in the open and everyone has admitted to their part in the sequence of events, there are even more revelations. I’ve read other titles by AJ McDine but I think this is my favourite. I highly recommend Everyone Has Secrets.
Narration by Tamsin Kennard - a great narrator. Her pleasant voice is clear, well paced and easy to listen to. It’s like listening to some tell a story rather than just reading it aloud.

Excellent narrator for the audiobook! I was hooked from the beginning all the way until the end. I am a very avid mystery/thriller reader and I found most of the twists to be pretty predictable but I enjoyed the entire book. Loved the author’s writing style and I look forward to reading more.

This was a fun book of mixing families and the dangers of what could happen from pent up anger and jealousy. Trying to please everyone is so hard to do, and the dangers of life outside the home, could easily be brought home. A.J. McDine is easily becoming my favorite author for psychological thrillers. Thank You Netgalley for the ARC of the audio. The narrator is also a lovely recurring known.

Oh, wow! I did not expect this book to be as great as it was! I was hooked from the very beginning and it did not disappoint. It was very well written and the narrator did a phenomenal job. As the end drew near I could see where it was going but it did not flop at all.

Overall: ⭐️⭐️.5
Writing: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Plot: ⭐️⭐️
Characters: ⭐️⭐️
Narrator(s): ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tropes, etc: Whodunnit, Party Gone Wrong
POV: Single, 1st Person

The Praise: I liked that the writing was straightforward. The narrator was great as well.

The Critique: I was enjoying the book quite a bit up until the characters were all fine with the fact that Joe drugged Annie so she’d “love him back,” saying it was understandable. It doesn’t matter that they believe Joe is a good kid deep down, he still drugged a girl who was practically his sister because his feelings weren’t reciprocated. Whether it’s ecstasy or rohypnol, he still planned for her not to be in her right mind. He deserved to suffer the consequences for what he did but he walked away scot-free. The story could’ve been so much more compelling if the author had made Eve have to reconcile her love for her son with disgust at what he did and ultimately turn him in. Just because you’re a parent doesn’t mean you can’t hold your kids accountable.

Final Thoughts: Predictable and morally questionable.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio!

Oh my. This is quite a roller-coaster of a read (listen, And on that topic the narration by Tamsin Kennard was, as always, excellent.).

I found Everyone has Secrets extremely unsettling on many levels. I'm a parent of teenage boys, which probably makes it worse, but even so. I have always had a horror of my kids taking drugs and have drummed the hazards of this particular habit into them from a fairly early age. This brings that fear rushing back like a freight train, especially when all this is happening under the nose of a mum who, in her own words, micromanages everything.

I can't condone many things Eve does, and frankly I think Nick is a fairly spineless person (shows what guilt does to you). Joe needs a serious kick up the jacksy, and Annie. Oh Annie. That was a shock, I never really thought that would happen, but then again maybe if it hadn't, the ultimate impact of the book would have gotten lost.

I know this all sounds a bit garbled, but I can't say more without spoiling it. It is good, and I do recommend it. But it's not an easy read and the subject matter made me feel a little uncomfortable, for so many reasons.

Three and a half stars.

This book is a page turner I couldn’t stop listening to it. ! So many twists and turns and kept me wanting more. Just as soon as you thought it was going to end up one way it changed course. The characters were very real and the mother son relationship is very well thought out.

This book was so good. I know it’s on the name but I really do love how every single character was keeping secrets and they came out slowly over time. I will say the ending was slightly expected based on everything else that went on but I still enjoyed reading about how it played out.

Teens partying and using drugs, and suddenly someone gets hurt—that’s how this story begins. As a parent, I experienced a rollercoaster of emotions throughout the story, trying to unravel the mystery of who and what transpired. Just when you think you have it all figured out, more twists and turns are revealed. This was an exceptional story!
