Oh hallo!! This is shouting best seller! I was completely engrossed in the story from start to finish. A thoroughly gripping domestic thriller. McDine has done it again, and I was wrong both times I guessed the ending.

Quite harrowing in places, the author presents to us best friends, who’ve brought their children up together, the type of friends who are like family, everything changes though, when Lisa’s daughter collapses after taking ecstasy at a house party to celebrate Eve’s son’s 16th birthday. Annie’s life hangs in the balance, and Eve is determined to find out who gave the drugs to the girl. I love the way McDine presents a situation to you in a way that really makes you question everyone, even yourself.

I liked and loathed Eve, she was a great friend, a good mum and wife but she was snobbish and judgmental and she annoyed me at various points, however I could also relate to her and the dilemmas she faces and decisions she makes.

The narration by Tamsin Kennard was excellent.

An easy 4 ⭐️

If you’re looking for a thriller audiobook that will have you hooked from the start this is it. I loved how fast paced this was. How I felt like I couldn’t trust anyone in the story and I felt like the ending was done really well! The audio itself was executed well and I felt like I was actually there! Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to get an arc of this audio!

McDine is so gifted at crafting a perfect domestic thriller and this one is no exception! 5/5!!

Premise - The Griffiths are a happy, average suburban family... until their teenage son throws a party that ends with Eve's bff's daughter unconscious and on the edge of death. Socially ostracized and guilt-ridden, Eve is determined to figure out exactly what happened during the fateful night, but nothing is adding up. Someone is lying, but who?

I looooove McDine’s voice, it’s so bingeable. It really feels like you’re getting to listen in on a (super interesting) character’s internal thoughts and travel through their world during a crazy time in their life. Eve was super fun to get to know! And wow was this twisty. I was on the edge of my seat!

I listened to the audiobook version, narrated by Tamsin Kennard, one of my favorite narrators. She does a beautiful job, as always! Her character choices enrich the story, so I absolutely recommend enjoying this book in audio form if you can.

Thanks, NetGalley and Bookouture Audio, for the audio ARC in exchange for an honest review.
