This was a great Christmas novella! The story was very unique and it had a lot of depth in the story. I would recommend!
This is a heartwarming and festive novella that serves as a prequel to the Hart Sisters series. Set against the backdrop of the holiday season, this short story explores themes of love, redemption, and second chances.
The story centers on Britt, who distanced herself from her best friend Reese and Reese’s husband Adrian after realizing she had developed feelings for him. Fast forward six months after Reese and Adrian’s divorce, Adrian reenters Britt’s life to help her gather 100 boxes of Christmas lights for a middle school dance. What begins as a seemingly simple errand transforms into an emotional journey, as Britt and Adrian finally confront the feelings they've long suppressed.
Despite the story being really short, it delivers surprisingly well-rounded character development. The use of dual POV adds depth to both Britt and Adrian, allowing readers to understand their struggles, emotions, and mutual respect. Hopewell handles the potentially controversial "ex-best friend's ex-husband" trope with sensitivity, ensuring the relationship feels natural and respectful. There’s no betrayal here—just two people who are clearly meant to be together, finding love at the right time in their lives.
The holiday setting adds a cozy charm to the story, and small details, like the amusing names of Britt’s cats, add a touch of humor and personality. Although I enjoyed the fun Christmas light hunt, I felt the story could have leaned even more into the holiday spirit to amplify its Christmassy charm.
One Hundred Lights is a quick, sweet read perfect for fans of heartfelt Christmas romances. It’s a testament to how love can bloom in unexpected places and times, and it’s bound to leave you with a warm, festive glow.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Chrissy Hopewell for sending me a digital copy in exchange for my honest review.
One hundred lights is a short and sweet novella set just before Christmas! I found Britt and Adrian to be cute and the chemistry was there even if it’s a short story.
3.5⭐️’s. I received this as an e-ARC via NetGalley. Super cute holiday novella. I enjoyed Britt and Adrian’s story, even with it being a short story. Not sure if I’ll prioritize reading the other novella’s in this series, but I will read them at some point. The title and holiday dance really kept the magic alive.
A simple, cute Christmas romance novella, but not really worth the time. Britt falling for her best friend's husband and then trying to still be friends with her is just too much. While the story of finding the 100 lights was a fun thought, the fact that they are just doing it to try to make up for their divorces just makes the whole thing very uncomfortable.
Book Review: 100 Lights
100 Lights is a delightful holiday novella that wraps readers in the warm, cozy glow of a charming love story. Though it’s a brief read, the story is well-written, with a smooth narrative flow and just enough backstory to pull readers into the characters’ world. The author sets up the romance quickly, yet it feels natural given that the couple has known each other for some time. This history makes their quick connection believable and gives readers a sense of depth in a compact story.
The Christmas atmosphere adds a lovely touch, bringing a cheerful and festive vibe that perfectly complements the romance. The story doesn’t delve deeply into plot twists or complex character development, but it works well within the novella format, especially as part of a series where more details can unfold over time. Overall, 100 Lights is a sweet, cozy read that’s perfect for a quick escape into a festive, romantic world. It’s ideal for anyone who enjoys holiday romances that leave a warm, satisfied feeling.
Cute holiday romance. I found it to be a little predictable, however that’s somewhat expected for a novella where there isn’t going to be much plot. That being said, this was a great book to read in between others as it was nice and light. Also got me in the mood for the holidays. Bonus that there are cats involved.
One hundred lights is a nice, light hearted read with lovely characters and an enjoyable storyline throughout.
A really enjoyable story, i was hooked immediately. I must admit i hated them in the other books! but I must say it was nice to have more insight and a different perspective on their story
highly recommend this series!
This story was a cute, quick weekend read. I enjoyed the banter between Adrian and Britt and how they are meant to be.
This book was actually a prequel to her Hart Sisters Trilogy, and the first book of Chrissy Hopewell’s book I have read. I will be reading the Trilogy next to get to know more about Reese (the ex wife) and her HEA.
This was a good read! I really enjoyed the plot and the characters. The story was well written and engaging. I would definitely recommend!
One Hundred Lights by Chrissy Hopewell was such an enjoyable holiday romance novella.
A quick, fun and easy read.
With sweet and engaging characters who I absolutely adored.
This was a book I truly couldn’t put down - I read it in two sittings, all in one day!
After reading this one Im definitely going to be checking out The Hart Sisters series.
Thank You NetGalley and Fox Hollow Publishing for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
I received this book as an arc through NetGalley and I’m so glad I read it. It is a sweet holiday themed novella and I really enjoyed reading. The FMC and MMC are a little questionable as their attraction began while he was married but in their defence they didn’t act on their attraction until the divorce was final. It’s a mild spice novella with some cute cat names (ie: “Captain Underpants” lol) and a really sweet story. Can’t wait to add this novella to my bookshelf!
I rated it 4⭐️!
Ive never read any of the other books in the series but don’t feel like I missed out or needed to read the others to grasp the story. It’s a really quick read, with a festive holiday feel and I feel it’s definitely a book to read if you don’t want something to serious or deep or your in a slump.
My one question is how do you stop a hundred boxes of lights from tangling up next Christmas because let’s face it that’s a heck of a lot of fairy lights and they always tangle up lol!
Adrian & Britt!!
Rounding to 4 ⭐️
I was so hesitant to and nervous to read this book. Falling for your besties husband?? How dare she?? I was curious to see if there is a world where that would be okay and honestly this book solidified that there can be a HEA and they deserved it to explore their relationship.
Silly me, I didn't read these in order and really wish I did but for a fun and sexy holiday novella, this was a fun treat!
I just wished we could have had more! It felt too short to me personally.
I do have to say that I loved Chrissy's writing especially in Adrian's POV.
Spice: 🌶️
Rating: 3.75
10/10 Recommend to a friend that's interested in a love story between a gal and her besties husband. (Such a new and interesting dynamic)
Thank you for NetGalley & Chrissy for this E-ARC in exchange for an honest review. I'm so exited to read the rest of the series.
a cute Christmas novella that contains all you would want at this time of year - thank you for the advanced reader's copy!
A must read!
Thank you to Chrissy Hopewell and NetGalley for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Just remember its a Prequel Novella - We all wanted to it be longer and more........ that being said it is warming you up for the first book.
Gives me all the Christmas vibes with some spice.
Britt is friends with Reese, but falls in love with her husband Adrian. Even if he doesn’t cheat, they divorce and Britt tries to stay away from both of them.
So a friendship and a marriage are ended.
But after 6 months Britt and Adrian work together and help decorate their kids’ holiday dance.
‘One Hundred Lights,’ is a Christmas novella focusing on Britt and Adrian. Britt is a headstrong single mother who runs a tech agency but this Christmas just wants to make the Christmas party for her son a magical night. Adrian has just had a recent divorce and is figuring out what he wants from life. Britt and Adrian’s families were previously close friends until Britt confessed her feelings for Adrian splitting from the friendship.
The Christmas vibes in this book were so enjoyable. I loved the Christmas party scene and the hunting for lights concept both brought a joyful atmosphere to a plot that seems heavy otherwise. The sub-characters were a great addition to the plot and I am excited to read the rest of the series and understand everyone's narratives.
I should have read more into the tropes before picking up the novella. The characters individually have promise and come across genuine at times, their regrets are palpable. However, I just do not like the relationship. The nearly cheating trope is just not for me. The complicated relationship with Adrian’s ex-wife and Britt was really hard to read at times (which is the desired effect I guess) but Britt's attempts to reconcile and the idea they could continue to be friends after a degradation of a marriage made me really dislike Britt.
I would recommend this book to people who are interested in darker romances or tropes that have more complications than your standard romance convention. I would recommend for anyone to read it before Christmas as it was a good Christmas read.
Thank you to #netgalley for this edition of #onehundredlights
Thank you to NetGalley, Fox Hollow Publishing and Chrissy Hopewell for allowing me to ARC read for ‘One Hundred Lights.’
This was an easy to read novella.
It is short, I estimate around 100 pages, but I still enjoyed this.
The characters were fun, things felt a little rushed due to the short nature of the book, but I found I didn’t care.
I loved the festive/ romance themes and the journey of overcoming what other people think.
I’d recommend adding this to your TBR for those who want a short, festive read to get them into the spirit.
This Christmas romance definitely grabbed my attention, I could have done with more intensity but overall I enjoyed it.
