The table of contents indicates that there are almost 300 pages in this book; however, within the NetGalley Reader, it ends at page 34. It is fully loaded and most of the book is missing. The beginning of the book has great information that ties sleep health to what we put in our bodies, but I can't give a positive review based on 34/300ish pages.

Thank you to Simon Element for the gifted copy, as the e-arc file was incomplete. I was able to review the physical cookbook, which was beautifully photographed, and a great quality cookbook due to its hardcover and high-quality pages. I really was interested in the connection between nutrition and sleep quality, and found so much great information about foods that will help your body give natural cues. The recipes were hearty for the winter, and also can be recreated by novice and experienced cooks.
I think anyone who is interested in improving their health will be interested in this book. I recommend it for all libraries and bookstores.

I'm really excited about the premise of this book! Marie-Pierre St-Onge writes in an approachable and easy-to-understand way, while effectively presenting scientific evidence. The recipes look promising as well, making this appear to be a well-rounded book based on my preview.
Thank you to NetGalley and Simon Element for the opportunity to read an excerpt of this eARC.

Eat better, Sleep Better focuses on ways to improve one's sleep through recipes and sleep regulation based on science.
The book includes Part 1: Good food, good sleep, good health (the science behind regulating your sleep) and Part 2: Eat Better to Sleep Better: the Plan (how to improve your sleep and recipes)
Unfortunately, I feel I can give an appropriate review to the cookbook as the advanced copy I received didn't have the complete science behind sleep and include the recipes.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Informative. Well-researched. Recipes look good. Honestly, anything that helps with sleep is a plus.

Sadly the kindle and NetGalley app version of this book when downloaded are only 36 pages. So I cannot read the whole book or see any of the recipes.
While there’s some great information in the first 30 ish pages of the book, not hav8ng full access is very frustrating and why I score this a 2.

EAT BETTER, SLEEP BETTER by Marie-Pierre St-Onge and Kat Craddock is subtitled "75 Recipes and a 28-Day Meal Plan That Unlocks the Food-Sleep Connection." Unfortunately, the preview that was provided was less than 40 pages and did not contain any recipes or meal plans. That was a big disappointment as the pictures that were shown were beautiful and the text portion indicated that the authors had clearly thought about the importance of employing good nutrition to help with sleep. Not having key parts of the book, however, made it essentially impossible to assess their contention: "Worried that I'm going to ask you to eat weird things that are hard to prepare, taste like cardboard, or are expensive to shop for? Or that I'm going to tell you to eliminate all caffeine effective immediately and go on a juice cleanse? Not at all! This isn't about deprivation or a hard to follow program..." The authors are clearly qualified in this area (St-Onge is a nutritionist and the founding director of the Center of Excellence for Sleep and Circadian Research at Columbia University) and present interesting concepts about the importance of eating foods with tryptophan — an amino acid that plays a role in sleep — as well as unsaturated fats and fiber-rich carbohydrates. BUT there is no practical follow-up to assess without seeing recipes and meal plans. A generously neutral 3-star rating.

As someone who loves food and struggles with sleep, this book excites me. Cannot wait to try some of these our and appreciate all the options.

The premise of this cookbook is interesting, the introduction was interesting and engaging, and the photography is crisp, clean, and lovely.
Unfortunately, I can only give it three stars as it is difficult to review a cookbook without seeing the recipes. I look forward to perusing this on it's release.

Eat Better, Sleep Better is a graphically appealing look at the connections between diet, somatic health, and sleep, presented by Dr Marie-Pierre St-Onge & Kat Craddock. Due out 21st Jan 2025 from Simon & Schuster on their Simon Element imprint, it's 288 pages and will be available in hardcover, audio, and ebook formats.
The excerpt provided for review is beautifully photographed and appealing throughout. The author/publisher have not included any recipes in the publicity materials, but the background and chapter excerpts are well written and scientifically sound. The authors draw a line between nutrition and sleep/circadian rhythm.
The recipes are arranged thematically: pantry items, breakfast, salads & soups, side dishes & meatless mains, low-stress evening meals, sweets for sleep, and sleep supporting sippers. The author/publisher have also included (in the release copy) resources, references, and index.
The recipes as pictured are attractive and appetizing, professionally styled and in color.
Four stars (impossible to evaluate fully without recipes and could well be higher in the final evaluation), and would be an excellent choice for public library acquisition or home use.
Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

The essential part of a getting a good night's sleep no one has been talking about: DIET! This book is an essential guide for anyone who cares about their health.

As someone older, I am trying to eat better and be more well rested. This book explained why these are so important to your health and living longer, better lives. Highly recommend.

Love this! Lots of helpful tips and a few intriguing recipes. I've started to implement and I do think I may be noticing a difference... Not so much in falling asleep, but I do feel more rested when I wake up.

This book seems very informative and the recipes sound interesting. I wish we were given the entire book to view as the excerpt isn't nearly enough to give a full review. It does look very promising though.

Eat Better, Sleep Better is like the perfect recipe for fixing two of life’s biggest struggles: restless nights and what to cook for dinner! Dr. Marie-Pierre St-Onge and Kat Craddock team up to create a guide that’s part science, part cookbook, and all about helping you feel amazing—day and night.
This book takes the mystery out of how food can affect your sleep and presents it in a way that’s super approachable. The recipes are practical and mouthwatering, like Overnight Oats with Ginger Compote or Mushroom "Carbonara" (yes, please!). And with a 28-day meal plan, they’ve basically done all the planning for you—perfect for anyone like me who needs a little nudge in the right direction.
What I love most? These aren’t complicated recipes; they’re simple, tasty, and packed with ingredients that help your body do what it needs to snooze soundly. From easy breakfasts to stress-free dinners and even guilt-free desserts, this book proves that eating for better sleep doesn’t mean sacrificing flavor.
If you’re tired of being tired, this book is a game-changer. After flipping through the recipes, I’m already excited to test out the Chamomile-Ginger Panna Cotta and see if my dreams get sweeter too!

Like other arc reviewers mentioned, this wasn't the full book. I really wanted to see the recipes but the preview was only 36 pages.

From the excerpt of the book that I received, it certainly seems interesting. I'd like to read it in its entirety before giving a final review.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Eat Better, Sleep Better is a cookbook focused on recipes to combine sleep-supporting ingredients into everyday cooking to help you sleep and eat better. The cookbook begins with an in-depth introduction of how food selection can affect sleep quality and vice versa. The introduction itself was interesting and provides a decent amount of context for the remaining contents of this cookbook. However, I was extremely disappointed because this ARC is only a sample of the first 36 pages and I couldn’t view the recipes or the meal plan.

Thank you Simon Element | S&S/Simon Element publishing for providing me an ARC via NetGalley in exchange for my review.
I was disappointed that none of the recipes were included in the copy I received, I would have loved to try them out. However, the intro was okay. I found the research interesting.

I read a copy of this book on NetGalley. It was a good book but none of the recipes could be viewed. The book just ended where the recipes should be. I contacted NetGalley and they contacted the publisher to see if they could fix it. I tried to download the book again but it still would not show the recipes. Bummer as I was looking forward to viewing the recipes. Regardless the book was interesting.
