Take Me Home For Christmas: A Heartwarming Small-Town Holiday Romance (The Amazing Doctors of Oak Bluff Book 1)
Miranda Lisasson

Third year pediatric resident, Mia D’Angelo, fell hard for Dr. Braxton Hughes but he broke her heart. When she discovered her mother was fighting a battle with cancer, she told her all about her Mr. Right, she even told her mother his name was Braxton. Only Mr. Right was all in her dreams. She and Dr. Braxton worked together and were in competition for the same job. They had remained friends, but Mia wanted so much more.
Her mother was doing well and now wanted Mia to bring Mr. Right home so the family could meet him. Mia was beside herself. What could she do? How could she tell her family se had lied? She would have to find someone to pretend to be her boyfriend. A mutual friend told Braxton what was going on. Before she could invite a man that would be totally wrong Braxton stepped in and volunteered to help Mia. She was mortified to have to admit what she had done to Braxton.
What a delightful Christmas romance. The characters are well written. It was so sweet watching/listening to Mia and Braxton as they fell in love. I was particularly fond of Mia’s family. They offered love no matter what. The narrators did a great job. Kudos to Ms Marni Penning and Mr. Noah Cumberland. This tale deals with some issues that are sure to bring tears, children in the hospital, some with cancer. This book would make a delightful Christmas Romance Movie.

I love a good Miranda Liasson story and this one was like a big hug! The narrators Marni Penning and Noah Cumberland did a wonderful job telling this story. They made me feel like I was there with them and they kept me entertained throughout the book. Mia is a third year pediatric resident and Brax is a Pediatrician that works with her at the hospital. Mia is going home for the holidays but the guy that's supposed to be her fake boyfriend has to cancel so she is stuck finding someone to fill in for hm. Brax finds out she needs someone to go with her so he decides to help her out. Oh if only Mia and Brax knew what was in store for each other. This was such a sweet and wonderful story. I had such a great time listening to this book and didn't want it to end. You will find humor, small town vibes, loving family and supportive friends. This is the perfect holiday book to listen because it will open up your heart and get you into the holiday spirit! I would HIGHLY recommend this audiobook!

This is exactly what I needed to get into the holiday spirit. It was a very Hallmark kind of story with characters you want to be happy together. I really liked that there was not too angst and only a little too many steamy scenes. The steamy scenes were not too detailed.

Each of the main characters had careers. Each of them also had some things in their past they needed to work through. It was good to see them bring out the best in each other.

Of course it ended the way you wanted it to. There was an epilogue that allowed you to see where they are now.

Mia D'Angelo told a little lie...but for a really good reason. Mia's mother is going through a cancer event, after losing her daughter (Mia's) to cancer years before. Mia will say anything to help keep her mothers spirits up, even if that means lying about continuing to see Braxton, the man who broke her heart. Problem? Mom's much better and now it's time to bring that man home for the holidays. What's a girl to do? Get someone to pretend to be the man, obviously! Too bad the man who agrees is now off on a romance Christmas trip to get engaged. Mia decides that her old option is to ask the slightly sleazy co-woker to accompany her. Guess who finds out about her plan? That's right, the man who broke her heart. The real Braxton. It's going to be a long Christmas pretending he didn't break her heart.

Overall I really enjoyed this story. Two things, I wouldn't have the trigger warnings the end of the book. The other issue is that there was a portion of the story where Mia was so whiny and not at all understanding. It's really the whiny part that annoyed me most.

Marni and Noah did a wonderful job at narrating this story. Thank you to NetGalley, Hawthorne House Press, and the author for the opportunity to read and review this story.

I don't know if I'm already in Christmas mood, but I loved this book! The story is a lovely one, and the characters are so cute and they blend together.
Mia finds herself in a little predicament and in trying to find a solution she ends up with the reason she was in that situation from the start. I love a second change romance and this one was so easy to listen to! I'll probably going to read the whole series since I'm invested in the characters stories now!
I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook and I have to say that the narrators are great and it was a pleasure to listen to this story!

Thank you NetGalley for arranging a copy of this audiobook for an honest review.

Miranda Liasson knows how to set a scene quickly. From the start of the book you instantly fall for the cemestry between these MCs. You veel for the passion and wonderfull compassion shown for the children on the hospital ward by Mia and the kindness of her crash. We all want to be these people, date them and have there living family even with the hardships. This book made me cry almost all the way through so if you need some somatic clensing go for it. We are all more sentimental around the hollidays and this book made me feel i was already there.

The narration of Marni Penning and Noah Cumberland gave these caracters instant body and spunk and it is nice to have duale narrators for multiple careacters. I enjoyed this book a lot.

Hey Hallmark, here is your next sweet Christmas romance with a hefty dose of tears! Seriously, if you love a good tearjerker written to be the Christmas story that you need to kick off your holiday reading with! I personally love a sweet romance any time of year and don't care if it is holiday themed or not, but this one is the perfect book to get you in the mood for the Christmas season. You have wonderfully written characters with flaws that are realistic and humanizes them even more. The setting is in a children's hospital with travel to a small town for a family Christmas. The book is a bit of fake dating, instant attraction, second chances, holiday themed mixed with a hefty dose of family drama and work competition. You will need a big box of tissues to get through the book, but it's the perfect tearjerker to really sink into and let the world fade away. If you are an audiobook lover, this one needs to be on your must-listen list as the dual narration is absolutely outstanding. The narrators bring the characters, their emotions and events even more fully to life to make the book even more engaging! You can't go wrong picking this book whether you go audio, ebook or physical book....just make sure you get the book, so you don't miss out on this fabulous story!

This story has all the feels of family and going into the Holidays. It isn't as lighthearted of a Christmas book as it has some heavier topics, but it done well and feel it emphasizes the value and love of family throughout. Thoroughly enjoyed both the characters journey and making the harder choices can be the worthwhile options. The only thing I wasn't 100% fan of was the narrator. Most times I can lose myself in the narration and it feels like the characters, this one was noticeable it was narrator for me.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

This is the kind of holiday read that everyone looks for. It has all of the emotions you have come to expect with a Christmas story and the characters and setting is so likable. This is the first book in this series and I will definitely want to read book 2. I listened to this book and I loved the way the author chose to have both a male and female narrator to read the male and female chapters. It made it seem like it was more their story that they were telling. This is a great Christmas read to pick up, climb into your favourite reading chair and immerse yourself in the story.

Mia D’Angelo dated Dr. Braxton Hughes for a few weeks last summer and had told her mother she had found the perfect guy, but then her mother got sick… Mia and Brax broke up and she didn’t have the heart to tell her sick mother that they weren’t together anymore. Instead of coming clean, Mia continued to regale her mother with tales about Brax.

With the holidays nearing, Mia’s family wants her to bring Brax home to celebrate with them. Mia tries to get another friend to go home with her and pretend to be Brax for the weekend, but he has plans of his own. Said friend realizes that Mia is going to ask an egotistical doctor no one can stand to be the stand-in, so he tells Brax what is going on. Brax agrees to keep up the charade and accompany Mia instead of going to his sister’s place for the holidays.

What are the chances that they could date again even though they work together and are vying for the same job?

I really enjoyed this novel and can’t wait to listen to others in the series. I liked the narrators and would definitely listen to other books that they narrate.

This was such a warm/fuzzy story. I adored Mia and Brax, and enjoyed watching them meet and overcome obstacles together as well as growing individually.
It was honestly the perfect book to start getting me into "the holiday spirit". From the mom's cooking/baking, to the doggy cuddles/interruptions, the whole book just made me smile.
The narrators were new to me, so it took me a little bit to get used to them, but once I did, they just enhanced the story so much more for me!

Christmas’s magic can make Dr. Braxton finally open his heart to love when he has to be fake boyfriend to Dr. Mia and go home for the holidays with her. Funny, romantic, tender, and full of charming moments. A really great romantic story that both narrators Marni Penning and Noah Cumberland, take to the next level as audiobook.

This is a well-written, entertaining, contemporary holiday romance novel. It is a second chance romance with a likable, intelligent female protagonist, an engaging, kind and caring male protagonist, wit, a touch of humor, small town charm, a loving family, supportive friends, a bit of holiday magic, a heartwarming romance, and a gratifying conclusion. I listened to the audio book, and the narrators, Ms. Marni Penning and and Mr. Noah Cumberland, who has a captivating voice, are truly talented and do an outstanding job depicting the characters and their personalities. I am looking forwarding to reading Caleb's book with great anticipation. Many thanks to Ms. Liasson, NetGalley and Hawthorne House Press/Victory Editing NetGalley, from whom I received an advanced listener copy of this delightful novel. This is my honest opinion.

This is a pleasant heart-warming, emotional second chance romance that was perfect to listen to while I was on a road trip.
Mia needed to have a boyfriend to take home for Christmas but had very few guys to choose from. When not being able to find anyone, Brax stepped up and said he would go with her. They had dated earlier but ended when they started working together.
The fake dating has been done by any authors, but Miranda Liasson wrote this book in a way that the story was smooth and easy to read. The two main characters, Mia and Braxton, were likeable and I could feel their chemistry as I read.
I am eager to read the next book in this series The Amazing Doctors of Oak Bluff.
Thank you NetGalley, Miranda Liasson and Hawthorne House Press for this audiobook. This is my personal review.

3.5 stars
Let me start by saying that I am the wrong audience for this book but I think that a lot of people will like this book better than I did. For that reason I'm rating it higher than I would have if I were just judging it for my own enjoyment level.
I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrators did a good job. No complaints there.
What I didn't like about the book was that so much of their relationship seemed to be based on their hormonal desires and attraction. They seemed to be in heat every time they were around each other. They dated for a couple weeks and then stopped but couldn't stop thinking about the great sex. And the reader heard about it more than once. I started fast forwarding through those parts. I just have no interest in reading about other people's sex lives. It bores me really fast.
What I did like is that they helped each other move forward in their lives. He helped Mia to see where her real medical calling truly was and Mia helped show him that he was worthy of being loved and capable of loving others.

Potential triggers: loss of loved one, sick children
Sex: yes and lots of flirtatious innuendo
Language: yes including deity
Violence: no

this was a cute story about two doctors falling for each other. she lied to her family about how he was part of her life. he was lying to himself that he would be worth a long term marriage. friends and family had to help in getting them to be honest about their feelings. on top of that, work drama was tearing them apart. however, by the end, they both find how they deserve to be treated and what they want to do with their careers, with each other's help.

I really liked the female voice of the audio. the male voice was deeper so I had to pay attention more to know what he was saying.

overall it was a cute holiday romance.

I plan to share this title on my instagram on Friday, Oct 18th.
