The golden state killer case was an excellent read. The writing was propulsive and very detailed. I would read more from this author.

A comprehensive look at the case. I wouldn't say it was anything new, but if you are looking to understand the case it is a great place to start. The fact that it was not solved for so long makes it one of the most intriguing cases of the century. Very much a “just the facts” kind of book.

I flew through this book in a day! I don’t typically read non-fiction books… (in fact this is my first in over a year) but this one had be speed reading through and thinking of it when I wasn’t reading it. I thought the writing was great. It was put together well and I liked that it focused on giving voices and respect to the victims and officers/detectives and armchair experts trying to solve the case. Thank goodness for DNA sites solving cold cases and bringing this terrible man to justice.

I had heard of The Golden State Killer from news articles and true crime videos but this book gave so much more information and history than I had heard or read previously.

In the 1970s, the Sacramento area of California was victim to a man who burglarized people's homes, then went on to commit dozens of atrocious rapes and murders. This perpetrator alluded police for close to 45 years. With advances in DNA and family ancestry tracking, the man was finally brought to justice in 2018. His name is Joseph D'Angelo is known as the Golden State Killer. Who is Joseph D'Angelo and how did he manage to avoid capture for so long?

This book held my interest due to the nature of being a California native and being shocked in 2018 when this decades-old set of rapes and murders was finally solved. Unfortunately, the book read a lot like a Wikipedia summary of Joseph D'Angelo's life and didn't add anything to the existing narrative.

I would like to thank Penzler Publishers for giving me an eARC of this book!

I love reading about true crime and this book was a wonderful way to get this information.

The way William was able to write about the experience of those involved was engaging but incredibly respectful. It was so well done that I would have stuck around for another 100 pages.

I can't wait to see what cases are picked for the rest of the states!

Kind of lame. I feel like all the stuff rushing out for this killer has become a bit much ANF now it's still going.

This was a good introduction to this chilling case. Simply written and giving well researched information it didn’t get bogged down in a lot of extraneous details as some true crime can. I look forward to seeing what else will be included in this series.

Wow. There was so much about this book that I learned. The formatting of the book was messed up, so it made it hard to reward, but the detail was insane.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this book! This was a well researched, no/very little-fluff added account of this decades-long case. Eventually caught via DNA, Joe DeAngelo was responsible for over 100 burglaries, dozens of rapes and at least a dozen murders, lived right in the area where he committed most of the crimes, and managed to stay under the radar for decades. Several detectives who worked the case were discussed and the eventual role of genetic genealogy and DNA was very cool, as I've recently gotten into DNA and genealogy research. A good, factual no-nonsense true crime read.

I received a free copy of, The Golden State Killer Case. by William Thorp, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. In 2018 police had finally caught the golden state killer, former police officer Joseph DeAngelo Jr. Joseph was hiding in plain sight after committing over 140 burglaries, 50 rapes, and at least 13 murders in California during the 1970 and 1980's. Im so glad they found the killer, so many unsolved cold cases out there. This guy needed to be brought to justice.

This was another winner in the Fifty States of Crime series, it had what I enjoyed from the Alice Grimmins book, it was interesting to learn about this crime. It was written well and worked with the true crime genre. It was just as respectful and glad it left me wanting to read more.
