Greta is back and this time Greta and her friends are hosting the Wisconsin Library Organization's annual conference. Greta has been working non-stop to make sure this conference goes off without a hitch while avoiding her ex-boyfriend who she hasn't seen since leaving Green Bay. Everything is going well, until a woman is found murdered next to Bobber's Bar. Blythe was part of the local treasure hunting club and is believed to have a secret discovery that she planned to announce at the showcase this weekend. Was her murder related to an infamous gangster from the past?
I love this cozy mystery series. I devoured the first two books in a week and was excited to dive right into A Killer Hold. The historical significance that was imbedded into the murder mystery was intriguing and I was excited to see that it was based off of true events that was stated in the author's notes. My only disappointment with this book was the relationship with the Detective and Greta. Although we get to learn more about the Detective's past, I wish there was a little more romance between the two in this story. I am hoping that their relationship continues to grow in the next book of this series.
Thank you to NetGalley and Level Best Books for the opportunity to review A Killer Hold.

A librarian turned detective.... say less. This was such a good story, and I was caught up in all the twists and turns! I really enjoyed it!

I enjoyed the book. A good murder mystery to the end. I would highly recommend it. Greta finds herself involved in a murder mystery.

Greta’s back, and this time she’s hosting the Wisconsin Library Organization’s annual conference! Between dodging her ex-boyfriend and ensuring the event runs smoothly, everything seems under control—until a treasure-hunting club member is found murdered. With ties to an infamous gangster and a mysterious book code to crack, Greta is on the case once again.
The historical twist to the mystery was fascinating, especially knowing it was inspired by true events! The cozy small-town vibes, quirky characters, and librarian sleuth angle added so much charm.
Since I haven’t read the first two books in the series, it took me a little while to get into this one. Some of the character dynamics felt familiar in a way I couldn’t fully appreciate, but I still enjoyed the story once I got into the flow!
A fun, cozy mystery with historical intrigue and a compelling plot. Perfect for fans of small-town charm and bookish sleuths!

This is the third book in a cozy mystery series, so far this one is my favorite. The twist and the surprise at the end with the reveal really got me, I would absolutely recommend this book and the others in the series.

I love mysteries set in libraries. Greta and Larkspur library are set to host the Wisconsin Library Organization's annual conference. Not only does her ex show up, so does a dead body. Is it connected to the story of treasure left in the 1930s by fleeing gangsters including John Dillinger or something more sinister? Much fun!

I loved this book. The librarian sleuth trope is one of my favorites and this one didn't disappoint. I will definitely go back and read the first books in the series, and hope there are more to come!

I requested this for consideration for Book Riot's All the Books podcast for its release date. After sampling several books out this week, I decided to go with a different book for my review.

I read this book as an ARC. A mystery-check. A romance-check. A strong female character-check. An ending that I didn’t see coming-check. This book was so fun to read. I didn’t realize it was the third book in a series when I started reading. It was so easy to fall into with the characters. Definitely give this book a read. Looking forward to reading the first two books.

When I started this book, I didn’t realize it was the third book in the series. However, that didn’t matter as the author did a wonderful job of setting everything up so that you didn’t feel like you were missing any back stories. I really wanted to love this book. I’m a librarian so cozies with a library setting are my favs. However, this one seemed to plod along and I wasn’t interested in the local gangster history. However, Greta and her friends are a lot of fun and I look forward to reading the next title in the series. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for review.

I enjoyed this installment in the series. I loved the time jump, as it meant certain relationships were developed. I feel like Greta also had more character development. Shes fully immersed into life in Lackspur and I enjoyed being back in the library too! Theres not much I can say without spoiling other books, but this one just added to my enjoyment of the whole series! It's the perfect cosy series for bookworms!!

The Larkspur gang returns! The Larkspur Library is hosting the Wisconsin Library Organization’s annual conference, so Greta and her crew have been furiously planning to make sure it goes off without a hitch. Greta is dreading coming face-to-face with her ex, whom she hasn’t seen since she left Green Bay. On the very first day of the conference, a woman is found murdered behind the local bar. She was a member of the local treasure seekers club, and Greta suspects that has something to do with her death.
I just love this crime solving gang! The details are so involved and it leaves you guessing until the end. Such a great cozy mystery!

Another great addition to the Larkspur Library Mystery Series. It was great to be back with familiar characters and tackle another mystery. The characters are great and the mysteries always leave me guessing until the end.
Definitely recommend this series and anything by Leah Dobrinska.
Thank you to the Author, Publisher and NetGalley UK for a free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

It's always funny to start a series on not the first book. Greta, Josie, and Iris are good complements to each other, personality-wise. I liked the level of moxie/danger threshold they have for investigating. The other characters are great and the Dillinger story added an interesting element to the plot.
I'll definitely go back and read the first two books and would recommend this as a cozy mystery.

If you're a fan of crime fiction, mystery, or suspenseful thrillers, then "A Killer Hold" is an absolute must-read. Dobrinska's writing is engaging, addictive, and utterly captivating. Be prepared to sleep with the lights on!

I really enjoyed this book it was my first in the series but I really want to read the rest now. I always steer away from cosy mysteries preferring something more gritty but then when I read them I love them and this was a perfect example of why

3.5* cute little mystery. I didnt realize when I applied to review that’s it’s part of a series, but I am looking forward to going back and reading the rest in the series! Super cute cover, too!

Who doesn't love librarians?! This book has a great plot and I like the humor :) the dialogs are well written, and the character are mostly very likable

A KILLER HOLD is the third book in the Larkspur Library Mysteries by Leah Dobrinska. With a setting in the Wisconsin Northwoods in the charming town of Larkspur, the theme of early twentieth century gangsters and their crimes and hideouts is woven throughout the story. Protagonist Greta Plank is spearheading the Wisconsin Library Organization’s annual conference and one of the participants is a treasure-hunting club, with the members hoping to find the cache of one of the notorious criminals who hid out a century ago. I love how old legends and history entwines with current day events and murder. The author does a fantastic job weaving the two together with page-turning action and well-plotted clues to keep the reader engaged and guessing. She has also created some memorable characters—people you’d enjoy spending time with—and I especially enjoy how Greta and her two library employees are best friends. They make a worthy amateur sleuth team, while providing some entertaining banter to lighten the dark subject of murder. If you enjoy well-developed characters, a fast-paced plot, a library setting, and endearing characters, then you’ll love this newest release!

Spring has sprung, and with it, a full line-up of programming at Larkspur Community Library. Director Greta Plank is preparing to host the Wisconsin Library Organization’s annual conference—and dreading the arrival of her ex-boyfriend—while also helping a local treasure-hunting club coordinate a showcase highlighting Northern Wisconsin’s gangster trail and the nearby hideouts of the notorious criminals of the early twentieth century.
When Greta overhears the library board president and a larger-than-life member of the treasure-hunting club arguing about a secret discovery, her curiosity is piqued—even more so when one of the women leaves a book with a sequence of strange markings on its pages in the library book return bin. Before Greta can ask about the marginalia, the book’s outspoken owner turns up dead.
At the request of the police—though against the better judgment of her new beau, Detective Mark McHenry—Greta sets to work trying to decipher the peculiar notations, and she quickly hypothesizes that there’s more to the story. Was something sketchy going on at the deceased’s jewelry shop? Did her death have anything to do with the gangster trail event she was helping to plan and the personal research she was bragging about? Greta must work against the clock to decode the dead woman’s book code. What she finds is someone willing to go to great lengths to keep a secret buried in the stacks—and the past—even if it means killing again.
Loved it. Will recommend to others.
