Obviously I will read any book by Kristen Bailey so I went into this one without reading the blurb.
All we’ve established beforehand is that it’s NOT a why choose. And I’m so happy it wasn’t because what I got was the most heartwarming Christmas story, full of love and friendships and crazy family dynamics! I mean, you got your IT Crowd-ish team of three geeks and their geeky manager, then there’s a Crazy Rich Asians-style wedding, a posh people fox hunt, and the love story that will make you smile non-stop through the book.

It is very clear from like chapter 2 who is the love interest, so there’s no mystery there. Poor Leo had been pining for Maggie, his manager, from day one. And Maggie finally starts to notice. The way he cared for her safety and wellbeing made me wish he’d been pining for me instead. But don’t mistake him for a sad lonely boy: Leo knows what he wants and he is not afraid to show it when it matters. The way some, ahem, more intimate details were revealed would’ve made me kick my feet in the air, but I was on a plane so I had to reign myself in.

I was afraid since we sort of had 3 main male characters, that there won’t be enough romance and I’d lose interest. But I found myself caring about Frank and Jasper so much. Besides, the boys get their own mini love stories so my soul was happy.

This book is so warm and funny and a total HR mess, but who cares? It got me through another trip and a nasty cold so I’ll always be grateful.

The narration was flawless!

This is the perfect blend of humor, heart, and holiday cheer. It's a cozy, feel-good tale that is just right during the holiday season. Maggie Field, a lovable head of IT at a financial firm, is ready to spend a quiet solo Christmas in her London flat. But her three quirky, endearing coworkers—Frank, Jasper, and Leo—have other plans, inviting her to stay with each of them over the holidays. What follows is a whirlwind of festive adventures that will have you both laughing and tearing up.
At the heart of this charming story is Maggie’s deep bond with her team, and the dilemma she faces when her boss orders her to let one of them go. The tension between her professional responsibilities and her personal connections is palpable, especially with Leo—talented, charming, and unexpectedly attractive—sparking feelings she can't ignore. The holiday setting offers the perfect backdrop for moments of joy, hilarity, and even a few heartwarming surprises, from rescuing baby foxes to chasing donkeys across the Lake District.
The author does a wonderful job of balancing the fun, lighthearted moments with the deeper emotional threads of friendship, career, and love. I found myself captivated by the delightful cast of characters and their festive shenanigans. But what really makes this story stand out is its exploration of what it means to truly belong—and how love and friendship can unexpectedly find their way into your life when you least expect it.
I listened to this as an audiobook and the narration was really well done, bringing both the characters and story to life. This heartfelt journey will leave you smiling long after the last page.
I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and Dreamscape Select and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Unfortunately this one wasn’t for me. Someone in their review said this felt like a long voice note from a friend and I agree. I just couldn’t get into it because of the writing. It felt like every little thing was being explained and I wasn’t being hooked from the start.

Another cute story by Kristen Bailey. This one isn't just a romance - - it's very much a story of friendship as well.

The main character, Maggie not only loves her job, she loves her work family. So, when she's told she has to choose one to let go, she agonizes over it. How can she pick any of them? They each are special in their own way. Along the way to learning more about each of her co-workers, Maggie also learns more about herself and might even find romance....but you'll have to read it to see what happens.

I've read several books by this author and find that they all leave me with a smile on my face. This one did take me a bit to settle into but once I did, I can say I really enjoyed it.

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: The audio was also enjoyable. I found the narration added to the story and made it even more fun for me to listen to. 4 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley for early copies of both the ebook and audiobook.

This was surprisingly charming and adorable. The pacing was perfect for the story and I found myself laughing as I listened to this. This is such a heartwarming story which is perfect for something that takes place during the holiday season. I love that while there is romance in this, there's also an overarching theme of friendship.

We Three Kings by Kristen Bailey was a delightful Christmas story. Maggie Field is planning on a quiet Christmas alone as her parents are away. She is the head of IT at a financial firm, and her three geeky but lovable work buddies invite her to spend time with them and their families over the holidays. She is looking forward to getting to know them better, until she finds out that she has to make one of them redundant after the holidays. Frank’s work is his world, Jasper’s sarcastic humour is everything but it also gets him into trouble, and Leo her new hire is talented, professional, confusingly attractive, dependable, and funny, but the newest employee. How will she decide? How can she spend the holidays with their families and not tell them?

I enjoyed getting to know Maggie's colleagues and their families right along with her. Maggie's Christmas adventures are wonderful as she plays a fake girlfriend for Frank and accompanies him to a family wedding, visits Jasper at his family's posh country estate and sees the real Jasper as well as rescuing baby foxes and getting more than she bargained for, and finally meeting Leo's oldest friends and chasing a very confused donkey on Christmas Day in the Lake District. I was laughing long and often at times, but also feeling empathy for some of what her colleagues were dealing with. The more time she spends with Leo, the more her feelings grow toward him. How can she decide who to let go? The ending is a wonderful surprise and I enjoyed every minute spent with this wonderful group of characters. I listened to the audiobook narrated by Harrie Dobby. This was a new narrator to me and I enjoyed listening to this one. Her storytelling was spot on, with voices, expression, tone and pacing perfect for me. I definitely recommend We Three Kings in whatever format you prefer.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Really liked it, stuck with me & would recommend
I needed a feel good rom-com and this fit the bill perfectly. I loved the workplace cast of misfits that the main character, Maggie, their manager, leading the charge with compassion and care. And of course this wouldn't be a rom-com without the romance, and that felt sweet, real, and natural. Even though it is set during the holidays, this is cute enough for any time of the year.

The narrator, Harrie Dobby, did a good job, I had no trouble understanding who was saying what, where, when, and with what expression/intension.

Thank you to Dreamscape Select, NetGalley, and author Kristen Bailey for providing me with a digital ARC copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. We Three Kings is out October 14, 2024.

Festive and feel-good We Three Kings by Kristen Bailey is a great read and/or listen any time of year. I thought the narrators voice suited the characters and helped draw me into the story that was cute and cozy.

We Three Kings by Kristen Bailey is a festive, feel-good rom-com that perfectly balances humor, heart, and holiday spirit. Maggie Field’s adventure through a Christmas filled with her quirky workmates, career dilemmas, and unexpected romance is both charming and laugh-out-loud funny.

I loved Maggie’s dynamic with her team—Frank, Jasper, and Leo each bring something unique to the story, and their antics kept me entertained from start to finish. The mix of heartfelt moments and absurd, laugh-inducing scenarios (a confused donkey on Christmas Day!) added so much personality to this book. The sparks between Maggie and Leo were undeniably sweet, and I appreciated how their connection developed naturally amidst the chaos.

Kristen Bailey’s writing shines with witty dialogue and vibrant descriptions, making it easy to immerse yourself in Maggie’s world. While the plot was delightful, the resolution of the work-related conflict felt a little rushed, and I would have loved a bit more time spent on Maggie’s tough decision.

Overall, We Three Kings is a heartwarming celebration of friendship, love, and finding your place. It’s the perfect book to curl up with during the holidays, and I’d recommend it to anyone who loves a festive rom-com with big laughs and even bigger heart.

This is one of my favorite holiday books from this year! I loved this story, the characters, and I LOVE a good he falls first story!! Each of the men were charming and I loved seeing their secrets and relationship with Maggie evolve and develop. They were all fiercely loyal and protective of her and I loved their friendship.

I read a lot of holiday romance during the winter holidays, and I think We Three Kings was my favorite among them for 2024. This was a sweet story that I loved from beginning to end. It was not only a romantic love story, but a story of the love shared among friends that happen to worm together. I absolutely loved it.

What would you do if you were forced to choose between firing one of your three best friends? What if you were invited to Christmas with each of them? What if you were falling in love?

This was easily the best holiday themed book I read this year, as evidenced by the fact that it only took me two days. I adored the fact that this included a romance but was not solely focused on that aspect. While a little heightened, the friendships and stories felt grounded in truth. Each of the characters were distinct and I appreciated that despite developing romantic attraction with one, Maggie equally valued her relationships with all three men. It was a demonstration of the value of platonic love, even when held up to romantic love. I adored it!

This is a fun, silly, holiday romp with a lot of heart. It has some lightly described, mostly off page, spice which really appealed to me but may be a point against for some readers. However, I would encourage anyone looking for a feel good Christmas story with a solid romantic storyline to pick this book up. I will definitely be recommending it again next year.

Having thoroughly enjoyed Kristen Bailey's previous Christmas novel, Five Gold Rings, I was thrilled to receive an early copy of her latest festive offering, We Three Kings. This time, we follow Maggie, an IT consultant who manages three men-Leo, Jasper, and Frank-from the cozy yet chaotic basement office they share. Their bond is unmistakably that of a found family: supportive, quirky, and deeply interconnected.
When Maggie is invited to spend Christmas with each of her colleagues, she eagerly agrees, but her excitement is tempered by a devastating ultimatum from HR the day before she departs with Frank to his sister's wedding. She must decide which of the three men will lose their job. What follows is a heartwarming, often hilarious, and sometimes bittersweet journey as Maggie grapples with this impossible choice. Along the way, there's an extravagant wedding, charming encounters with mischievous foxes, a whimsical escapade into the woods, and an unexpected romance set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Lake District.
Maggie is a delightful protagonist-genuine, relatable, and unwaveringly kind. Her relationships with Leo, Jasper, and Frank are beautifully nuanced, with each dynamic revealing her ability to bring out the best in those around her.
We Three Kings is an utterly charming, quintessentially British Christmas tale that brims with wit, warmth, and festive cheer. It strikes a perfect balance between humor and heart. And that epilogue? A delightful nod to the three wise men that was simply brilliant. This is exactly the kind of uplifting story that belongs on every Christmas reading list.

"We Three Kings" by Kristen Bailey is a rom-com. Maggie is the head of the IT department of a big finance company. Just before Christmas, she is told she has to pick one member of her 4 person department (counting herself) to let go at the start of the new year. The problem is that their department is like a family. They're very close. They adopt her over the holidays, and she spends several days with each of the men, getting to know them and their families quite well.

The narrator of this book, Harrie Dobby, has a very thick English accent that I had trouble understanding, especially when I tried to listen to it faster than average.

I felt a lot of this book was told and not shown. Also, something about the dialogue made it seem distant. I was bored quite often.

We Three Kings follows Maggie who works in IT, as she’s thrown together with three of her coworkers for the holidays. It’s classic Kristen Bailey: winsome, quirky, poignant, and hilariously entertaining, with a nice dash of romance. A perfect read for the holiday season, or really anytime throughout the year you need a pick-me-up.

Harrie Dobby did an excellent job narrating the audiobook.

Thank you Kristen Bailey, Storm Publishing, and NetGalley for providing this ARC for review consideration. All opinions expressed are my own.
